19 reviews for Mofo's Pizza & Pasta
Been here about 4 years ago and just had to come back!
The first day in Tahoe and the first thing I thought about was Mofo's!
Planted in a Christmas themed strip mall this place has a sorta Christmas theme too.
They have lunch specials valid M-F. There's a little salad bar.
But all we wanted was the combo! We ordered and sat there sipping our drinks. I looked around and noticed the pizza man tossing the dough in the air, which makes me happy to see. Knowing they don't use frozen preformed dough makes them #1 in my book.
Our pizza came out hot and crunchy, dough was perfect thickness. There's a pizza "tree" that your pizza is placed on to give you more room on the table. Plus they have a pie spatula to pick up your slices from the pan.
Anyone visiting the Tahoe area must come to Incline Village and eat at Mofo's! Though the parking can be crazy, its worth it!
The world of casual eateries was our oyster on this beautiful Saturday evening so after a stroll along Christmas Village, we decided on pizza. I was stoked because it had been a while since I ate pizza.
Classic decor and ambiance (dimly lit, wooden chairs, red & white checker table cloths) and bonus points for having a bar setup for the kids to request and nibble on balls of dough from the chefs! Nice touch...
Though I may never had ordered this "flavor" of pizza before, for some reason the garlic & clams jumped off the menu at me. So my wife and I had this and went halvsies with our daughter's friend who went with Hawaiian. Our daughter completely bucked this trend and went with the calzone.
Before the pizza came, I ordered up an Anchor Steam and this is one of my favorite parts: absolutely freezing cold, frosty mug such that when I poured the Anchor in (I know, run on sentence!), small bits of ice actually formed. YUMM! This sent me to Homer heaven...
Very tasty and enjoyable outing for us!
Now the pie...delicious! Garlic & clam pizza with a frosty cold Anchor? Hello! "Recipe for success" come to mind! I also tried some of the Mofo calzone and it, too, was tasty!
3.5 Stars. First off, parking is a nightmare unless you drive one of those little box-on-wheels cars. If you go for lunch, get the personal pizza and salad bar special (can't remember the price, but under $10 with a soda). The pizza, especially the crust, is extremely good. Now the service: many a times I've been in there, the main guy who is always waiting on everyone seems to look right through you most of the time. Literally waving both my hands at him (I know it's rude, but it's so hard to get his attention) he doesn't see you. The soda glasses are small and it can take 15 minutes to get a refill for this reason. And he is very short with you when taking your order. If the service was fast and friendly Mofo's would get 5 stars. Maybe I will up it a star next time I go in. We'll see.
I ordered a pizza here for pickup and when I showed up the place was pretty packed. There were people waiting in line for a table but they saw me right away and got my pizza to me pretty quick. I would like to say that I would like to eat in here because it looks like it has a good ambiance and everyone is enjoying themselves and liking the food.
I ordered a medium Canadian bacon which was ~$16 which is little on the pricey side for a one topping pizza but it was above average. When I head back to Incline I would probably venture out to new places but wouldn't mind going back here.
hmmm, great pizza, but they could ease up on the salt somehow.
Salt and pepper are not spices, or are they?
Cute area!
I was not impressed with this place for their pizza quality, price of lunch, service, or atmosphere. But, I guess if you need pizza you can try going here. It probably won't kill you to eat their pizza.
The one bonus is that they have a salad bar, the negative is that there isn't much of a selection on it.
Great pizza, yummy garlic bread, big salad bar!
We ate at Mofo's twice during our 3 days in north lake.
The pizza crust and sauce really is tasty and I was stoked to have a gigantic salad bar to pick and choose my favorite veggies from.
I'm happy to know about Mofo's, we will be back when we return to Tahoe for some more boarding!
I don't eat fast food pizza - i.e. Dominos, Pizza Hut, etc. It's disgusting. I would much rather pay a few more dollars a pie to get fresh ingredients, lotsa veggies and unique crust. Mofo's had pretty good reviews on here so I figured it was worth a try for take out on our way to catch a show at Crystal Bay Casino.
I have no idea what their menu looks like because I just ordered on the fly on the phone. We ended up with two pizzas that filled our car with the wafting smells of garlic and oregano and couldn't wait to dig in. The crust was fantastic, the veggies were freshly cut and overall, they def make a decent pie.
How can you not eat at a joint named "MOFO'S" - Come'on!!!
After a long day on the mountain and exhausted from plowing through the fresh powder at Mount Rose my friends and I were hungry mungry! So ordered nearly everything on the menu - Pasta, Meatballs, Pizza, Fried Mushroom, Garlic Bread, Salad ... I'm sure there were a few more dishes, but we devoured it all (and even had a little left over for midnight munchies later that evening).
The food was excellent, the staff was great - the waitress was very patient and pleasant with our small rowdy group cackling at our inside jokes.
Mofo's was a regular family stop for us when we visited Incline Village every summer for about ten years (those were the 90's). Other than the fact that my kids liked watching them make the pizza and getting some dough, I'm not sure why.
We went there last week and it was uninspiring (at best). The pizza was either too salty (the pesto) or too bland (the veggie).
Next time, I'm going to make the drive to Truckee for Village Pizzeria when I'm in the mood for decent pizza.
Great Pizza.
The Garlic Chips are awesome.
They have stools near the pizza makers for the little ones to watch and they also give them dough to make pretend pizzas.
The Pizza here is alright, and I would say the second best in town after Tomaato's. I go here when I'm hungry and want some greasy pizza to fill me up. I go to Tomaato's when I want more quality pizza.
Mofo's also makes other dishes and has a decent salad bar.
I don't foresee coming here too often though as I have other favorites in the area.
The restaurant business in Tahoe is brutal, highly seasonal and competitive. The places that survive usually survive for a reason, some are fronts for drug dealling operations, some have owners who just want an excuse to live in the mountains and other build a loyal, local following that gets them through the down seasons.
MoFos opened in the mid 1980s and has been dishing out good pizza and fresh salads at good prices. This place survives because when the tourists go home the locals keep coming.
Great pizza place and a long time favorite of the family. John is a fantastic owner - everybody cares about ensuring you're experiencing fantastic service. From the pizza to the homemade sauce, it's all good. If you have young kids, they can watch pizzas being made and play with pizza dough at the counter. Don't miss it!
After a 3.5 hr drive from the east bay to our house in incline or a long day of skiing...the best way to wind down i s with MOFO'S!!!!! Awesome pizza, garlic bread, pasta and the BEST salad bar in Incline. "Jeeze, its just another italian place" you say. This is true, but there is so much charm to it. I mean 1) its in a center that is christmas time 24/7 and 2) its been there for ever(ok well 1980 but still). I think this charm is what makes the food taste even better...or I could just be overly starving everytime i come here.
So this is the part where I say this is the best Mofo-in' pizza in Tahoe, right? Well, that would be a bit premature, seeing as it's the only pizza I've had up here so far...but it's definitely the quintessential ski village pizza parlor. Nothing exceptional about the pies here, and plenty of folks seem to prefer the gourmet offerings at Tomaato's instead, but to me, apres-ski is about the simple pleasures: cold beer, hot showers, hot tubs, piping-hot comfort food, and passing out, in no particular order. So I'm always on the lookout for the no-frills chowhouses, and on that front Mofo's delivers.
3.5 stars. I love the name and the lizard logo they have for their place. The pizza is pretty good but it's not my favorite. It might be the best pizza in Incline, definitely good for family's, and if you're in the area it's probably the best bet for a slice.
The tomato sauce was delicious. The pepperoni was nice and crisp around the edges, but still chewy in the middle. Very fast service.
My husband and I went here while visiting Incline Village recently. We were looking for a casual, affordable place and this was what we came up with that evening. I am pretty critical of Italian food (my favorite) and think it was good but not excellent. We got pasta and stromboli - everything seemed very fresh and we both thought our food was good. The service was good for only having one waiter in the crowded dining area. I would eat here again if visiting incline village.
