Super professional instructors and also have good boats. Prices are on the high side.They're top class in the customer service department too. I only attended a couple of classes and had to bow out because of a work schedule conflict but I look forward to coming back next year.
Even if all you plan to do is play with a dingy, their courses are fun and very worth it!
Recently I've become a semi-regular chartering the 38' cat. Damn nice boat and lotsa fun... especially for bringing friends who have never sailed before and who might not deal well with a heeling boat. :-)

Modern Sailing is an outstanding place to sail and learn. I've been associated with them for years for classes and chartering. They have extremely high standards and a great bunch of folks. I have and will continue to recommend them.
I just complete the first weekend (2 of 4 classes) toward the Basic Keel Boat cert. Despite some minor administrative scheduling issue (they made it all better), we were assigned a great instructor named Stan who had about a billion years experience (including 20+ years of Coast Guard service). I had questions, but I could not come up with one that Stan could not answer concerning the material or the dozens I threw at him concerning general boating. He knew everything and was patient. He made everyone feel comfortable, and teaches by giving you hands-on experience. If you have a desire to learn sailing, check them out. **Mind you, this is serious stuff -- and you should be prepared for some serious book study as well**

Modern Sailing School & Club strives to provide an active, supportive, and relaxing social environment for our members and students to further their sailing education and experience.
Unlike other sailing schools, our beginning courses are taught on 30 to 32 foot keelboats with wheel steering (no tillers), inboard diesel engines, and roller furling jibs.
Through our Adventure Sailing Program, students can learn advanced sailing skills in exotic, international locations.
In addition to offering American Sailing Association courses, we also teach Coast Guard Licensing Courses, have an extensive charter fleet, and host weekly club sails, BBQs and parties.
We also have the most experienced instructors on San Francisco Bay. Our instructors hold US Coast Guard 50 Ton (or greater) Master's Licenses, representing decades of sailing experience. Our high standards have earned us accolades in the sailing community, including the American Sailing Association's School of the Year award.

Since 1983, Modern Sailing School & Club has been introducing people to sailing from our headquarters in Sausalito, California. Even if you have never set foot on a boat, we can teach you everything you need to know to build a strong foundation in this rewarding and life long sport.
