I have naturally thick/curly hair and had trouble finding people who could cut it without doing a hatchet job, or trying to straighten it because they didn't know what else to do. Moda was the answer to my problem. I have had great haircuts by both Ginger and Rose, and Rose even rinsed the little cut snippets out of my hair after cutting it!
I have been a loyal customer of Moda for over 8 years and I will not let anyone else touch my hair. I generally work with Marija because she is the best and her hair is very similar to mine so she knows what will work and what will not work. I have also worked with Angela (she does the best eyebrows) Ginger (gives the best shampoo in the midwest) and the receptionists are very helpful and pleasant. When you walk in you get a beverage of your choice, pleasant music, and your own robe to trot around in and smell all the Aveda products and see what is new. They have a very large selection of Aveda products for hair, body and face and I have tried lots and I am addicted. I always have been super satisfied with my cuts, color, highlights and styles. I would recommend anyone to go and have a great experience with any of the qualified folks there on Harlem.
AMAZING place!!! I trusted them for the big one.....my wedding day hair!!! They did an amazing job, and were very accomodating. There were some last-minute things I needed to have done, (mani/pedi, make-up application, and false lashes applied) and they did them NO problem. I was amazed with how well-organized the owner of the salon is. She really knows what she's doing, and I trust them with my hair!!!
I had a really great experience at Moda. It was my first time and my stylist was Ginger and I'm glad she was! She was easy to talk to and totally understood what I wanted even though I wasn't making much sense to myself! I wanted some kind of rich chocolate with hints of red, and that's what I got! She mixed my color and got it just perfect. The cut was just a trim, but we shared idea's of what to do in the future to get my hair super healthy again, and whether a bang would work on me. I was skeptical about the bang, I hadn't had one since high school and it made me nervous. She walked me through it, played with side parts, and snipped away a pretty slanted bang... it looks super cute and kinda sexy. I walked into the house and the fiancé was totally diggin it. I knew it was a job well done! I will be back... after self-coloring for about a year and a half to save some money, Moda wasn't so bad - I think an all over color was about 45. Cut was 40 - totally worth it for the experience. Ginger has been with them for 8+ years. She's awesome and the place is really cute and comfy in a vintage kinda way. Easy parking out front on Harlem, good location. No Amex. Only V/MC. Cash tips.
An Aveda Concept all-service Salon/Spa. Closed on Mondays and Sundays, just like my brain.
