I friggin' love this place. Great Vibe and people seem really friendly and helpful.
Can't beat the pitcher prices. The only thing I thought it was missing was a kick-ass jukebox but maybe I didn't see one. The live music makes up for it though.
I saw Colin Lake there on Saturday.. what an awesome band!

Mock Crest is one of those perfect neighborhood bars - the staff is friendly, the patrons are cool & mellow and it's an overall good time.
For a place that's a little grungy and a LOT smokey the food here is REALLY good. My best friend lives in St. Johns and she suggested beers & burgers at Mock Crest. I was a little hesitant on the food until I saw the most amazing basket of hand cut friends come out of the kitchen.
My best friend who swears they have the best burgers in Portland. I'll take her word for it - I tried the garden burger instead & it was good stuff. But seriously...the fries...they put seasoning on them and it's like crack. And you get a lot of them.
Beer selection is a good mix and it sounds like they have some great happy hour deals on draft beers depending on the day. I'll have to go back & let you know!

Alone or meeting friends, I always have a good time at the Mock.
Locals and regulars are friendly and silly. Laurie's Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner for St Pats was HUGE and stisfying - pleanty to share. Johnny Ward puts together some of the best combos here you've heard with brass - bringing alive some VERY old songs you'd never here otherwise. I love Tuesdays. Weekends too, if you want to avoid the purfume crowd - and can tolerate some smoke til '09.
others. Music is Tuesday -Sunday. The Thursday Open Mic is worth doing, particularly when that sizzlin rock star DC Malone hosts. Monthly gigs are worthy, like First Saturday, and I ALWAYS enjoy the Eagle Ridin Papas, Lauren Sheehan, Donna Jose, Sneakin Out, and other regular performers who make you glad you found this relaxed happy place. It's small, but feel free to dance. Someone is bound to join you.
Food is affordable, and there are daily drink specials. Breakfast is served and an email list will let you know who's playing weekly, and clue you in to Breakfast Specials, Potlucks, and Holiday Parties.
TIPS: The # 75 Bus come here, links to MAX and runs from downtown St Johns along Lombard, MLK, Dekum, & 42nd, all the way along 39th to Milwaukie. Runs often & hauls bikes - so ferget drinkin and drivin and payin for gas for a ride that could send you to jail.
If you smoke or use a Cell Phone, kindly use the outside garden. Artists really depend on Tips for their daily grub, so DO. If you're too broke, why not walk the tip Jar around the room during a wildy good song, to help them make their rent and Safeway budget. All appreciate it when you do that - with a smile. (no pressure is needed)
Thankyuhverymuch.

This place is fantastic! The servers really seem to have fun while at work! That makes it fun for the customers! They have music most nights, great food and a friendly atmosphere! When new folks move into the hood, they seem to all gather at the Mock. They are able to meet new friends and get aquainted with thier new surroundings! Customers and staff are both willing to intoduce any and everyone to new friends. This place ROCKS even though it is a Blues bar! Check it out! I know you won't be disappointed and if you are, tell the manager, she will make everything ok.
The old house was three blocks away from this place. We found ourselves there at least once a week. Now that we have to ride a bus to get there we only go every few months. Always have the chowder, taco casserole, and the mac n' cheese. The drinks are strong, and the beer is cold. Chris, Laurie, Rochelle, and Emily always made us feel at home. The beer would be on he bar before I sat down. Can't wait for it to be smoke free in '09.

Mock Crest Tavern is like a home away from home. The staff and the regular patrons are friendly and open. This is a working man type of place where folks go to blow off steam and meet up with their friends. They have a regular music line up with some occasional good blues musicians and fun acts like Sneak'n Out. They feature a menu with standard bar fare that is always thoughtfully prepared, large portioned and tasty. When the weather is nice, there is a lovely garden out back. Mock Crest Tavern is a perfect blend of locals and transplants and has a great neighborhood bar atmosphere.

I stumbled into a quaint neighborhood bar in north Portland this past weekend, Mock Crest Tavern, which I can't wait to hit this summer for its backyard bier garden.
This place reminded me sort of a pub in Germany with a variety of good beer on tap and a charming garden patio in the back. The menu isn't fancy and it doesn't have to be. You can get a good burger and even better tots. If you're alone, you can borrow one of their laptops for free and get online. They also have free music, which is another plus.
Tip: Try their homemade soup on a cold night.
