Hmm, it looks like most everyone who came here came at a really bad time. My graduate now college group and I came here for our Summer trip and the waitress and food were really good. I ordered a burger and my group got chili cheese and cheese fries. Those were great too. It was a little hot in there, but it has no AC unless you are in the gift shop. Our food took a while to get to us, but our group was 13 people.

Moby Dick's souvenir shop was great. The hanging pufferfish were cool! I got 2 rings and 2 bracelets. Prices were fair and some of their stuff is of good quality. I recommend the gift shop.

The worst seafood I have ever encountered! There's no wonder why we got such scowls when we had mentioned we were on our way!

For really, the staff sucked, the food sucked, and the tourists that eat here are all just loud and obnoxious.

When we got there, the host staff was messing around with each other, then got to seating us.  We got sat in the air conditioned area, by the bar and close to where the servers hang out.  I watched them jumping and acting like fools around in the back.  Really though, when people can see you, I wouldn't recommend screwing around and swearing!  Other than that, the waitress we had sucked.. very inattentive, some what rude, and really, simply did not give a fuck.. it was terrible.

We ordered the crab stuffed poppers for our appetizer, for $7.99..GROSS, they were jalapenos slices with crab stuffing on the side, then deep fried.. they weren't very good at all!

Then our dinners, we both ordered the seafood feast, for $15.99.  I had the coconut shrimp and crab stuffed crab.  Again, the crab was stuffed with that shitty stuffing substance, and the coconut crab was nasty.  Bubba Gumpa's Shrimp is sooo much better!  The food was not fresh at all! Totally not what we had expected, and really ruined our night.  PURE GARBAGE!

Even our drinks tasted weird... The cups were not clean... I guarantee it!

Oh well.. stay away, there is a reason why the locals do not recommend this place for anyone.  It is shit food, and a waste of money, time, and space!

This place was host to probably the most miserable lunch experience of my entire life.

Not that the food wasn't OKAY, or that the service was BAD, but the experience as a whole was just miserable. Partly my own fault--but still.

So we went on a Sunday morning after a long weekend of party beach house shenanigans. We had a big group of 11 and wanted to have lunch together one last time before we all left town. So after a quick drive around, we decided to swing by Moby Dick's. Looked a little wild, and had the biggest crowd--so figured it couldn't hurt.

Here were the issues:

We walk inside with our nice, fresh sunburns and sit in the restaurant which OBVIOUSLY had not had any AC running the entire previous night. (They may not have an AC at all)  It was burning, sweaty hot... and we had to tie our dogs up on their back porch so we weren't leaving them in a hot box car. Of course they're barking like crazy, and the restaurant doesn't even have any music or noise inside to drown out the barking dogs so it's just ECHOING through this big, empty warehouse. LOUD. But what else can you do, really?

The waitress informs us that it's only 10:15 am, and their kitchen doesn't start serving food until 11. Oh, joy. 45 minutes in this hot warehouse with barking dogs and people giving us horrible looks while we sit here all hungover. Awesome.

Well, we finally ordered and I chose the Grilled Mahi Mahi. The fish was over cooked, dry and flavorless. Not my favorite. Fries were decent, if not a little too salty. But eh, for $13 I've definitely had much better.

The atmosphere is super "touristy" with pirates all over, old sea "treasures" like a bicycle that looks like it's been underwater for 30 years and ropes and nets and such. Eh, it is what it is.

The brightest spot of the whole ordeal was our waitress, who despite telling us on several occasions of how hungover she was, did an amazing job in keeping us all happy, and our drinks full. Kudos to her.

But if you're ever in the area and looking for a spot to stop and eat, I'd highly suggest passing up on this hole. There's way too many other decent restaurants in Port Aransas than to waste your dime here.

It's less Moby and more Dick.

OK. So we were out on the beach enjoying a beautiful day when I suggested we get a margarita's and some burgers. Sounds good right? We stop at Moby Dicks cause it looked like something out of a Jimmy Buffet video. Very cool. However, when we got there it was a different story. They weren't very busy and it was around 2 pm so plenty of seating. The staff saw us there waiting and no one made a move. Finally the bartender came over and seated us. I noticed none of the staff was smiling and most were watching the football game on TV. Our server was a gentleman in his 40's who asked us if we wanted something to drink, we ordered 2 margaritas (DO NOT GET THE MARGARITAS!) and had to get him to come back after he plunked them down on our table without a word and started back towards the bar to watch the game. I placed our order and he sat down at the bar and pulled his tips from his pocket and started laying them on the bar and was counting the bills. I watched the other servers, no one smiled at their customers, or seemed to give anyone any decent attention. I am giving the two stars cause the food was alright, but the drinks are made in a giant slurpie machine. We didn't even drink them. So disappointed.

The host that sat us didn't have a clue of what was going on in life. I had the grilled mahi mahi sandwich for lunch and it was only $8.99! It was perfect. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the place had good piratey atmosphere.

We went because it was recommended. I should have read the reviews here first. Poor service from a girl who didn't want to be there. I asked if they had sweet tea, they did not. So I took the regular tea and then proceeded to look at the menu and saw Raspberry tea. SO when the waitress comes back with our drinks, I said "you didn't tell me you had raspberry tea and she just sat down my unsweet tea without saying anything. I expected "Oh, I'm sorry, is that what you want?" or something but no, nothing.

We ordered food, I ordered the special which was Tuna prepared in a barbecue sauce which was pretty good. My wife tried her cole slaw and said it was bad. I tried a small bite and agreed. We debated whether to say anything to the waitress or not and I decided to. I asked if the cole slaw was made fresh everyday because it tasted spoiled. She acted unconcerned but said she would check on it. I'm pretty sure she didn't. Neither did she offer to replace it with something else.

The pirate atmosphere was kind of cool and the menu was interesting but the service or lack there of, ruined everything else. I really hope no one got food poisoning from that cole slaw.

To be fair the other servers seemed to have a better desire to be there and I saw one pointing out the fish hanging up discussing what each was with their guest.

Food is great, and reasonably priced, live music sometimes.  Great drinks and staff.
