How funny, I too was shocked when I realized that I had not yet reviewed Mizu in Roseville.

Love this place.  We never cease to impress any friends or family when we bring them here for the first time.

I am a sucker for Sashimi (salmon) and there is Sushi galore, rolls, Nigiri and if you ask nicely the Sushi Chefs will set you up with some Sashimi.  If you are not into the raw stuff or sushi at all but enjoy Chinese food, their dishes are great, dim sum too.   People will ask if I am filling a hollow leg the way I go at the Honey Walnut Shrimp!

Fruits (papaya, melons etc) and Veggies are also found in the buffet, as well as pastries and ice cream for dessert.

Great deal at lunch.  More expensive for dinner and packed after 6 or 7pm (especially on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) but always worth it, in my humble opinion.

WHAT?! I thought I reviewed Mizu already!  I guess not!  I've only been to Mizu once and that was with my parents.  I was so surprised that they were willing to drive so far just to dine at a sushi buffet.  1) They're Asian and cheap with gas.  2)  They don't even like sushi all that much!  Apparently, all their friends raved about how good Mizu was so they had to try for themselves.  I forget how much it was but if my mom says it's cheap, it MUST be cheap.

What my family loved about Mizu was that they served sushi (for me) and Chinese food (for everyone else).  The sushi was a lot better than the average buffet sushi and they had a wider variety than other buffets I've been to.  The Chinese food wasn't bad, either!  They have OYSTERS!  Too bad my family doesn't eat oysters, I don't know why I was so happy to exclaim that they had oysters =P

The reason why I only give Mizu three stars is because I found my new love, Fuji.  However, if you're dining with people who aren't big fans of sushi, I believe Mizu is perfect!

How I wish this was a chain that would open in Fresno. The sushi was fabulous for a buffet style restaurant. I am sure there are parts of their service that I didn't see. I heard they had great steaks but I didn't see them or ask because I was blown away by all the sushi. I ate two and a half plates and was stuffed. I went back the next day for lunch and it was great too. ($5 cheaper).

If you are staying at the Fairfield Inn head over to this place. It rocks. Lunches were $10 and dinners $15. This is the first Japanese buffet that the workers didn't think I was going to eat the place into bankrupcy.

I went to eat here with my family for the second time and we enjoyed it.  The service was okay but the food was excellent.  It had the best oysters I ever had at a buffet. Snow crabs are always good. There sushi was very good for a buffet.  There spider roll was delicious and crunchy.  The prices are very cheap and I hope I get to go eat there again.

Wow!! This place is pretty good for an all-you-can-eat sushi spot. You actually sit down and order sushi off the menu. Dinner is really only 14.99. The have a salad bar with salad, edamame(I'm having a brain freeze right now on how to spell this sorry,) mussels, cucumber salad, and fruit and you can assemble it yourself. You sit down and the VERY NICE server(very surprising service for a japanese restaurant) takes your orders.. btw he is VERY Knowledgeable. He knows the exact number on the menu of each roll that you order. The sushi is pretty good considering the price. I would come here anytime!

This is a combo sushi/Chinese restaurant. The place is really nice with big screen TVs all over the place. The food is just....not really good but not terrible. The drinks are super carbonated to get the customers full fast so they save money. The meat dishes are very strong, the king crap is pretty good, but they don't look out for the food. For example, certain dishes would be extremely low and they take a while until they replace it. No one really wants to eat the scraps of a dish. Another example is when I went to get sushi. I was about to get a roll and when I looked closely, there were dead flies all over the rolls. Not one or two...but like 7 on various different rolls. AND I came back like..10 minutes later to see if they took the dishes away but they didn't. So if you're coming here to eat, just make sure you know what your getting and make sure it's CLEAN!!!

For the price you can't really complain.  We came here for dinner and got a lot more than I expected.  There was a little more selection of sushi rolls than I'm used to seein at a buffet, other than california rolls.  they had cold oysters, baked oysters, crab legs and a few other pretty good dishes.  the sashimi wasn't too bad either.
worth a go.

Every time I come to Roseville to visit my family, I end up here at least once. I think everything tastes good. It is a buffet, but I think the hot food is usually fresh and they are always refilling everything since it is so busy here.

I think the bad reviews are from people that already despise buffets in the first place.  I have been to my share of buffets and I think Mizu is one of the better ones out there.  If you don't like buffets, don't come here obviously!!!

I have a love/hate relationship with this place.  Love the food - hate the jacked up tummy trouble follows.  I really like the cheap tasty sushi and the walnut shrimp, but 3 out of the 4 times I've gone I've ended up nearly incapacitated by what might be food poisoning. Onset usually an hour after I leave - lasting about 2-3 hours....  not pretty.  May just be me, but I've usually got a stomach of iron - doubt I'll go back.

Came here with my wife because its closer to where she works....Mizu #3  would have added 30 minutes of travel time.

I hate mushy ice cream!  the freezer at the New Mizu is in better condition and it keeps the hard ice cream hard.......not a big pile of mush like the ice cream at this location.

Finally,  I like the service better at Mizu #3 --- they aren't as crowded (yet) and they all seem to smile more!

Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fan of Mizu #1 -- but the extra star goes to the food, service, and ICE CREAM at the brand new Mizu Number Three.

I loved this place.  Some customers took us here for lunch, and I was really impressed.  My husband will never eat sushi with me b/c he says it doesn't fill him up and he ends up spending a ton of money to feel full.  This place is a great solution or our problem (execpt that I live in Walnut Creek and was only in Roseville on business).  There was an abundance of fresh sushi that tasted really good - and so much variety.  We were in the middle of the lunch rush, so they were constantly putting out more items that had been depleted.  I did not see very much sitting around for long.  I was in heaven and I know my husband would have liked it too.  Now if I can only find something like this in or near Walnut Creek.

I did not eat very much off the hot food bar, but there were 4 of us at lunch and the two guys ate a lot of the hot food.  They seemed to really enjoy it and we all left very happy.

It is also extremly reasonably priced considering all of the variety and the quality of the food.

First, I should start off by saying that I joined Yelp just to review this place...it was that bad...

The only positive thing was the price...it is cheap and I saw a lot of families in this place. The restaurant was clean and the service was ok but the food was not good.

Sushi Buffet should clue you in. It is poor quaility fish. All the rolls were giant, too much rice and stuffed with imitation crab. The raw tuna was grey in color and there was some other fish that we could not identify. I got really excited when I saw the raw oysters. I'm thinking I could get my money's worth on oysters alone..I love them. But I was wrong. They were not good. Fishy, not ice cold and just tasted bad. Once my husband and I decided that the sushi portion of the buffet was terrible, we decided to go the the other side and see what other options they had. Not good either. Unidentifiiable chinese food, some chicken wings and a pile of crab legs that were sitting 4 inches into a hot water bath. NO thanks. I learned my lesson. There is no good, cheap sushi. You get what you pay for.

Still good!

Been back a few times for lunch.  They had kalbi and it was really tasty.  Chow fun was good too.  Sushi and sashimi is still good.  I also like their seaweed salad and the grilled asparagus.

Still going back.

All I can say is...WOW....I can't believe I haven't found this place sooner!

Sushi Buffet that's cheap, has a large selection, and is actually good! Gawd what more can you ask for?!?!?

Being kind of bored one day, I was perusing a magazine for the local Sacramento area when I came across an ad for Mizu in Roseville and attached to the ad was a coupon for "buy one lunch buffet, and receive 50% off for the second person". At first, I instinctively cringed at the words sushi and all you can eat buffet placed all into one sentence. But being kind of hungry, and that this place was only about a 5-10min drive away, I decided....what the heck....might as well try it out (my stomach usually gets the better of me).

First impressions upon entering this place was that it looks clean. And being somewhat of a new restaurant, also really packed. We stood around for about 5mins before a table freed up and we were seated. Which I guess wasn't too bad considering it was so packed.

The buffet area itself consisted of 3 separated areas: the salad/desert buffet, the sushi buffet, and lastly the Chinese food buffet.

I can't really say too much (or anything really) about the desert options since I was so full by the end of my meal that I totally skipped that section. But the sushi is really to die for! For a all you can eat buffet, I was really pleasantly surprised. The selection was huge, the rolls looked beautiful, and the sushi was delicious! My fav was definately the Unagi rolls.

The chinese food buffet consists of your typical dim sum, fried rice, chow mein, etc....nothing to really write home about. Except I did have their fried flounder, which was really good. As well as their little egg custards which were rather cute (wait..did I say cute? Oh well.....so I DID...whatcha gonna do about it..huh? HUH?).

The service itself is rather fast about clearing off your table. Not very social but thats not really why I go to a resturant. With a 50% off for the second person coupon, the bill came out to $14.39 + tip for two very stuffed people.

I would DEFINATELY recommend this place to anyone in or stopping by the area. And I am definately coming here again!

Japanese food buffet dinner for $15.00. A nice selection of sushi. And the crabs and lobster come in after 7pm. I liked how they open till 11pm, but we only stayed till 9pm.

The plates aren't very clean. Their hot food selection was kind of limited. Nothing was labeled so one had to kind of guess on what one was eating. After 8pm they kind of ran out of steamed oysters and lobster. Their Ikura and Unagi was limited to 6 pieces every half an hour. And drinks aren't included in the price.

Went here last Saturday with a group of friends (9 people). One of our friends put our names down before we got there (we were coming back from a day of snowboarding) so I'm guessing we waited a total of 30 minutes? Anyways, on to the food.

So, their sushi isn't all that. It's just sitting out... not too appealing or tasty so skip it... BUT they do have their chinese/japanese food buffet. That's what I'll be focusing on mainly.

They have lotsa different food: soup, steamed pork bun, crab, shrimp, veggies, rice, chow mein.... My favorite was the honey walnut shrimp (minus the walnuts, but very very delicious!!!!!) The teriyaki chicken was also good. The only dessert I had was the ice cream (so good! avocado!!!!!) lol. The only thing that sucks is that the ice cream scoop is all messy ... they should have someone scoop it for you or have a scoop for each flavor instead of a bucket of murky water holding the scooper... gross. But I don't think I got sick. =)

All in all, if you are starving and can eat more than 2 platefuls, go ahead and give this place a shot.  It cost us ~$20.00/person. They didn't automatically put in gratuity which I liked.

Oh, be warned, service here isn't really hospitable... It took us 3 requests before we got our refills on water. =\

Pros: good food (non sushi), spacious interior, nice flat screens to watch the game.
Cons: service, not really good sushi, food could be spaced out in buffet line.

I have been here once and it was pretty much more than I excepted it would be for only costing $8.99 per person for a sushi buffet. The sushi itself was so-so but everything else in the buffet was excellent. There was limited types of rolls, just the basics (spicy tuna, california, etc.). However, there was a lot of other dishes to try and ice cream for desert (which I ate three bowls of). I would definitely go here again, but recommend that you go hungry. They only offered sashimi during dinner, which was not exciting. Although, don't go here if you are looking for quality sushi, you obviously have to pay more money for that. Basically, if you want a lot of cheap food, this is the place. The servers were not very friendly, but they cleared your table with quickness.

This was the place to go when I lived in Sac. My fiancee and our roommates packed in the car to get some affordable and GOOD, food. I'm not much of a fish/sushi person, their chicken terriyaki is super good!
My family loves their sushi, but make sure you get there before they close for their weird hour change thing, we were rushed through our meal one time. The hostess is a little pushy, at least the one we had most of the time, she was rude, which is why they only get 4 stars.

Went here tonight and the sushi here actually tastes better than their Sacramento location.  Either that or I was incredibly hungry from skipping lunch today. Nope, that can't be it.  The sushi was damn good! It was actually better than the Natomas location.

The honey (no walnut) prawns were lacking flavor, same with the generals chicken.  I loved the mung bean dumpling that looked like a peach with two leaves, simply adorable. The location of the ice cream was hidden to the left, I was expecting it to be next to all the fruit so I almost left the dessert section heartbroken.  They took a while to refill my soda, over 5 minutes. I found this annoying because I had to stop eating my meal until the waitress came back with my refill.  This location isn't as pretty or as big as the Sac location but who cares. The sushi is damn good!

I'm a lover of decent cheap sushi and expensive tasty sushi. Mizu is the best sushi buffet I have eaten at. In comparison to other sushi buffets, mizu selection of sushi is much better and the quality of the fish they serve is fantastic.

Another reason why this is a great place to eat is because it will satisfy your appetite for sushi and "real" food as well. They also have a selection of Chinese food. The cream cheese won-tons and the walnut shrimp is really tasty.

I went in for lunch yesterday is and it was about $9 per person for Monday through Friday. And the weekend dinner is about $15 per person. I'm not sure about the pricing for other times through out the week.

The reason why I rated this place 4 stars and not 5 stars is because the service is not great. The sushi bar says that you are allowed to order specialty rolls from the sushi chefs but when you ask they brush you off.

This is definitely a place that I return to a lot.

WOW! I forgot that a buffet can be this good.

Thanks to yelp this was my first visit to Mizu - I had no idea it was there. It reminds me of when I was a kid at a time where places actually used to compete to be the best! The food is cooked just right, the quality is excellent, the employees come across in a very professional manner.

I love this buffet! It makes me wish I could take back all the buffets I've had lately and replace them with Mizu, because they all pale in comparison. This is what a buffet should be.

I'm going to have to take up running regularly now, because I don't think I'll be able to go a week without dropping into Mizu! The selection is great and the food is delicious! They've got HDTVs tuned into the game so you sports fans won't miss out.

I didn't see the fondue fountain but probably won't be interested in a community fountain anyway.

The sushi selection is great. The fruits and desserts were perfectly sufficient. The hot foods were well prepared and hot and fresh and of fine quality.

I highly recommend Mizu!

I wasn't expecting a buffet. I really try to avoid those when I can, just because I don't like my food being around so many people sneezing coughing, breathing on, picking through etc. But I thought I would tough it out since I already ordered my drink. The service (May) was really rude and seemed annoyed when I asked her questions. The sushi was okay. The nigiri was good, seemed fresh so I give it an extra point for that, the rolls were not the greatest, but I've had much worse. What's the deal with imitation crab around here?! The hot bar was retched. I think it was because of the (old, heavy, crisco?) oil they fry everything in. And the texture of the shrimp was unusually dense (that's not a good thing.) At least it was cheap that's all I'm sayin'.

This is one of my favorite asian buffets. I love oysters and clams... and the ones that are cooked here are fresh and delicious! And at a reasonable price.. (oysters are sooo expensive!) My fiance works about 15 mins from here and every once in awhile we'd crave it... he loves the sushi here. The crab puffs are one of my favorites! And the veggies they have in their dishes are crispy and fresh.... the seaweed salad is the bomb!!! and Walnut Shrimp! Mmmmm... I've tried many asian buffets and none are as satisfying as this one. For dessert though, sometimes the fruits aren't so sweet and fresh. But the ice cream... ahhh the ice cream!!! Green Tea, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla. I love this place!!

BTW. There is a Mizu in the Natomas area... but I really prefer this one. It's alright but some of the food there aren't as fresh!

Three fish were caught by a fisherman, then quickly they  were whacked in the head......up they go to meet their maker for judgment day.

The fish God looked at fish number one and states:
"Obama, you were a good fish. You graduated college, became a scientist and cured fin cancer. Because you were such a fine fish, I am sending you to Japan to be eaten by the Royal emperor (yes, in the fish world it is an honor to be eaten by royalty).

The fish God then looked at fish number 2 then stated:
George, you were a idiot. You drank and smoked way too much. You have a " Nemo is my bitch " tattoo on your fin. I am sending you to a Chinese restaurant to be fried. Under no circumstance should you be eaten as a sushi.

The fish God then looked at fish number 3:
McCain, you are just blah, not very exciting, same old news, no new change. I am going send you to Mizu to be consumed by the fine folks at Roseville.

Yes, the sushi at Mizu is very blah. The rice is not seasoned, fish is not that fresh. If you are coming here for sushi, you will be disappointed. They do have lots of other dishes that are also okay. If you are big on quality, Mizu is not for you. If you are a quantity fan, Mizu is a solid 4 stars.

It was a choice between my regular- Fat's Asian Bistro or Mizu.

The daring me said Mizu. And boy, sometime I wish the daring me would shut up. Trying something new isn't always bad, but before I even had a taste of their food, I knew it was going to be mediocre.

We walked in and a huge chandelier topped the entrance. It was gorgeous. Crackling glass as dividers from the waiting area to the dining area. Nice and modern.

Wait was not too bad even with the crowd. Service was not bad either through out the night.

I waited in the long lines. Pilled my plate with a little bit of everything- pot stickers, cream cheese won ton (or crab ragoons), clams in black bean sauce (which was actually good), steak cooked medium in a teriyaki sauce (which reminded me of the steak at Houston's) and tons of king crab.

Then walked my way over to the sushi and fruits area. I was surprised they had more than just California rolls. Array of sashimi and extravagant rolls- spider roll, rainbow rolls, etc.  They hand mung bean spouts, seaweed, and less than appealing edamame that looked a million days old.

Zig Zagged my way to my table (since we were seated to far back and in the middle of everyone).

Took a bit of everything.... & I was right. Mediocre Chinese food. Mediocre sushi. And even mediocre chocolate fountain. Now how can chocolate be mediocre?! Well the chocolate they used for their chocolate fountain was horrible. It had this super bitter after taste.

If I could pick one favorite dish, it'd probably be the steamed king crab legs. This is a not 50 choices of "Chinese" entrees buffet, nor is it the best sushi buffet ever lived. But somehow they get by.

Maybe it's the atmosphere? Very modern buffet, probably the nicest interior minus the super crowded tables and space. Or maybe that it is in Roseville.... which lacks a good/decent sushi place?

$30 for dinner buffet for two is not bad. But that's def. my first and last time here.

OMG, I absolutely, positively ADORE this place! It's a long drive from where I live, but God, it's worth it.

I intentionally starve myself during the day when I know I'm going to be eating there for dinner.

I love their 'House special' roll, as well as their Spider Roll, but I really go there for the sashimi. I probably eat my body weight's worth of Tuna and Salmon Sashimi. It's fresh and a good color, and firm when you bite into it.

They have a very nice selection of cooked food as well including the shrimp in a mayo-like sauce, and the crab legs. They have mini egg custards that are delicious, and yummy green tea ice cream

If I were to list any complaint it would be about the waiters. I've only ever had problems with one or two of the waiters, but I wouldn't take away any of the stars because the food more than makes up for the service :)

I have been here about three times and all three times I have been unimpressed with this place. The only reason I went back was because family choose to go for family gatherings.  The food is nothing to wrote home about. The food that is supposed to be heated was cold. The sushi was mediocre, but what can you expect for a buffet. The service all three times that I went was rude. I still cannot figure out the fascination about this place.

I've gone here a couple of times since my last review. Last night was the first time I went there for dinner. May be we chose the wrong night cuz it was crowded and chaotic. We were a group of 7 and service was almost non existant. I had to flag down a server for our drink order and we probably didn't get our drinks til we were almost done with our first round of food.  Not only that, but our drinks were not complete. Instead of waiting around for a server, we ended up grabbing napkins and chopsticks on our own which were next to the cash register.  Usually the chopsticks are by the sushi.  Water wasn't ever refilled.  I'll go back, but just for lunch.

5-Stars.  I don't know what everyone is complaining about, even giving Mizu less than five stars.  Maybe they're too fickle -- picky is the concise word.  It's simple, if you are.  Mizu serve sushi that taste FRESH, and that's what matters when you eat sushi -- you really get to taste the fish.

Everything else is great, too.

I went there for dinner and was also able to get some fresh tasting...what's that "aphrodisiac"?  It's in a shell... anyway, THAT.  I forget.

Mizu is great.  They should franchise.

when i eat, i like to be more secluded from other tables (or at least have room to move my elbows freely). at mizu, it's really crammed! our table was literally 12 inches away from the next. If i wanted to, i could have used my chopsticks to pick up a sushi roll off the plate of the little kid who sat at the table next to me.

i could have done without the chinese food, but everything else was semi decent. the fish on that night was fairly fresh. the chocolate fondue fountain was pretty gross to me! i'm not a chocolate eater, but looking at the fountain validated my reasons why. it was unmaintained and freely displayed without a "sneeze guard glass", so ANYONE can dip anything into it (fingers too). I guess all the junk people dunked into it, caused it to look chunky, messy, and gross. ick!

for what its worth, i think this place is okay. it's not as "great" as i had anticipated. however, it's not gross either. i guess i'm neutral! however, they are building a new one in natomas, and i wouldn't mind going back to give it another stab.

i think the large crowds made it less enjoyable for me (esp since the little kid next to me was practically sitting on my lap).

Mizu is a great place to go when you can't decide between Chinese and Sushi.  The sushi is fresh and you can also make requests for special items to the sushi chefs.  The place is clean.  Bathrooms are always neat and the flat screens on the wall allow you to have something to keep you occupied while you are resting between eating.  I always get the tea from them and the three times that I have been there it has been fantastic.  I am definitely a fan considering that it is close and there is always no wait.  The place is huge and the korean bbq is the bomb!

You need to go!

Sushi
Potstickers
Teriyaki chicken
Rice
Chow Mein
Ice cream
Sea food

......

All this and way more is available at Mizu's.  Just pay the $14 price of admission and stay as long as you want going back for 2nd's, 3rd's, and even 4th's!  No it's not 100% authentic, carefully crafted Asian food but it's damn good and you can eat as much as you want.  A great place for dinner when you're feeling indecisive and want lots of choices.

This is the place for all you people that can't eat a meal at a sushi place for under 20 dollars.

THE GOOD:
-All you can eat. Can't argue with that.
-The hot bar that has Chinese and Japanese food is by itself better than what you would get at a regular Chinese buffet.
-One of their offerings is seared tuna. If you are a seared tuna freak or know one, here is your chance to pig out. Going by the appetizer prices at places that serve seared tuna, you can probably eat $110 worth of it in one sitting.
-The rolls that contain deep fried ingredients are pretty good.

THE BAD:
-Most of the rolls that don't contain deep fried ingredients are pretty meh.
-Sashimi, when available, is not very good.
-The cold buffet has nothing really good to offer.
-The sushi bar falls behind during the lunch rush.
-The chocolate fountain isn't operational half the time.
-Tables are cram packed together. If you have a rude or extremely large person sitting behind you your chairs will hit. And if you're not the kind of ass that likes to ram other people's chairs you will be scrunched right up with your table ramming you in the ribs. As this place is all you can eat sushi your chances of a rude, large, or large rude person sitting behind you is pretty high. Two visits ago a skinny girl was sitting behind me, sitting about a foot and a half away from the table, on the edge of her chair with her huge purse behind her.

I don't really expect any sort of quality going to buffets, especially dirty asian buffets.

The moment you open the doors, you get a punch in the face, a big punch that is. A punch that makes you realize how different this buffet is.
I thought higher of this place. I see stone floors, a fancy chandelier, and loads of people. It reminded me of the great buffets in Las Vegas.

The food paralleled the hype from yelp. The food really is great, especially for the price your paying (around 10 bucks for lunch). I'd say your getting more than what you pay for.

The sushi is fresh, and custom and rolls are made to order,  the cooked food tasted fine, and the fruits and ice cream were delicious.

Mizu definetly establishes themselves higher than your roach on the wall cliche asian buffet.

Only thing that bugged me was the cream puffs. Tasted like whack. Crusty cool whip and what seemed like pre made (read dry) puffs.

I think this place is owned by Koreans.
