I guess the cool kids of Williamsburg don't like that ultra-mainstream played-out fishy food known as "sushi," because this place always has a ton of tables open despite being right on the "main drag." I went with a date while en route to Rooftop Films further north on Bedford, and we were in and out in practically 30 minutes. I guess for a sushi place to fit into the neighborhood, it'd have to be the kind with wacky techno and anime print all over the walls, not faux-Japanese earth tones and wood decor.
But the food was great, especially considering the price, service was very attentive, and the back garden is very nice. Certainly worth going to, especially given the dearth of good sushi in this part of town.

Excellent sushi, sake and yaki udon. The space was previously occupied by a hell hole of a Chinese restaurant, Mizu converted it beautifully. It can get a little pricey but the quality is definitely worth it.
I don't understand why Mizu isn't always packed, considering the prime location. So far, we always get a table immediately no matter when we show up.
Better fish than the local competition, competitive prices, and some really nice specialty rolls. By far my favorite local sushi place.
And they deliver! Very quickly!

Good sushi but nothing special. I live right down the street so this is our go-to sushi place, but it definitely makes me miss our old favorite on the UES. Reasonably priced, good fish, nothing to complain about, but also nothing great that keeps us coming back (except proximity). We're not very adventurous (spicy tuna, california roll, eel are our favorites), but I know good fish when I eat it and this is good enough quality but nothing amazing. Great service and the food always comes quickly, even if they're crowded. I would've given it 3.5 stars, but I definitely wasn't willing to go to 4 stars.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant around BK!
The byfriend and I frequent this place. We recently brought friends visiting from the UK here. They loved it. Hot towels to clean and soothe your ands, excellent appetizers, and rolls that are delicioso!
I always like to get the MIZU GARDEN appetizer. It has this excellent spicy sace with crab and avacado. I am on a total avacado kick right now. You must try the Hawaiian roll. If you are not one for raw sushi or rolls, try this it has crisy shrimp tempura and it is filling (if you are worried about leaving hungry).
One more thing(and most important), I LOVE THE GREEN TEA! Perfectly brewed. I wish I knew what they do to make it taste so good.... It sort of tastes like they filter it with rice paper or something. I dunno, if anyone knows, let me know plz.
Love it, go as often as I can. I just can't go off on a sake tangent like I want to.

This place has great quality fish, served at the correct temperature - with pretty tasty specials. I even brought my Japanese friend, who is quite picky, and she was impressed.

Last night we embarked on a difficult mission. My two friends are both vegetarians and I'm a steak eating, meat pizza consuming, hot wing loving fiend. Compromise is tough, but, on rare occasions they will cast their health/moral ideals aside and spring for some Sushi!
I was still not overly excited with the idea since I didn't really want to spend $50 on Sushi and probably still be hungry afterwards. We arrived at Mizu and I was expecting typical NYC (rape you in the ass) inflation as I've become accustomed to with all my other meals. Amazingly, Mizu was actually cheap, even by San Diego standards. I don't think I saw a roll over $10. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll, philadelphia roll and rainbow roll, the Salmon was really good and the shrimp tempura roll was perfect.
The beers were fairly priced, a large Sapporo was $6 and small $4. The atmosphere was perfect, nice music in the background and cool decor. Definitely going back before I leave.
4.5 Stars.
I can't agree that this place isn't romantic, but maybe I was just in a flower n wine filled V-Day haze. :)
The servers were really nice, hot towel was soothing, and the sake wall is fun to look at. The lights were kind of low and the place wasn't noisy despite being totally full.
The presentations were pretty awesome. Sushi is definitely an art form. The portions were standard and the fish is very fresh.
We got lots and lots of food and a bottle of wine and it wasn't that $.
The plum roll was a bit thick and icky tasting in my opinion though.
The golden salmon roll (with mango - mmm) was really good.

agreed, for some reason i thought it was going to be over-priced and not good.
I WAS WRONG - IT WAS GOOD
this place is super cute and the fish is fresh and plates are huge. the actual plates i mean, the portions are normal.
they play funny music and are really friendly and give you those wonderful warm towels to clean your hands with before you eat.
to add to it all it is right next to the train and the bar - helpful things on those awful east-cold days.

So I'm thinking, when I see this place, great. Just what Williamsburg needs - another overpriced, mediocre Japanese restaurant.
My jaded cynicism was slapped right out of me pretty shortly after the food arrived, though.
The interior is clean and modern with some nice Asian touches.
Had some sushi and some tempura and some udon soup. All were far above average. The salmon was particularly good - and a generous cut, at that.
The plum wine and sake were both light, clean and sweet. First glass of plum wine I've ever had that had the aftertaste of pistachio. I really liked it.
Service was friendly and attentive.
The space felt a little cramped - not a great place for privacy or romance. But I could definitely see it becoming my regular sushi place. Unfortunately, their delivery range is very limited.

Okay, okay. I am a sushi snob. I admit it. What do you expect from me? I lived in Hawai'i for 3.5 years and have had sushi on numerous continents.
All that being said, I had lower expectations for Mizu, because hey. Like I said. I'm a sushi snob. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the variety and compilation of the rolls. I usually just stick to fish, but went for rolls and liked what they whipped up. Quality of fish was nice. I even went back once. I probably would again.
If you're hurtin' for sushi, you can absolutely do a lot worse than this.
Excellent sushi. We walked past it because it was empty... generally a frightening thought for seafood. but gave it a shot and glad we did. Hot towels to wash up, friendly service, delicious dishes. Plus the bar looked cool. Important addition: must eat the Hawaiian roll everyday forever. period.
my fave new sushi spot. the servers were soo good too us. friendly but not annoying friendly. food was good. the setup was comfortable - wide open spacing where you can always get the waitors attention if you need them. the music was sooooooo good. chill stuff like john legend, bob dylan, extreme etc..perfect atmosphere, in my opinion. i love asahi too!
CONS: rolls were smaller than normal, house salad not that good
Quality: 4 Service: 5 Overall Atmosphere: 5

i guess it was good. cheap, quick, and clean. i dont go too wild with my sushi (if it doesnt swim, it doesnt go in my tummy). The Salmon had a good texture, the edemame was plump and they give you a nice smelling little warm towelette before you eat.
