Las Vegas, NV
Great place to come to after midnight when the only game in town is fast food & denny's.
The nightly staff have always been very accommodating and the ambiance is very airy and inviting. The two waitresses in the day were initially very cold until they saw us there almost on a daily basis to which time they began to warm up.
The great thing about this place is that everything is reasonably priced. A rare sit down place in which you can eat great thai comfort food for 2 and spend less than $20! -

Hard to believe I have yet to review this place considering how many times we've came here. The decor is very nice and bright, lots of neon, for an area that usually sticks to the old-style traditional looking thai places (think elephants, paintings, etc). Feels very upbeat and new here.
All of the dishes are very reasonably priced! Almost everything (with the exception of seafood) is in the $5-$7 range. Another thing to note, is that this is almost the ONLY restaurant in the area that isn't a fast food place or a sports bar that is open LATE (2:00 AM if memory serves)
Favorites have been the Panang curry over rice and the tom kha kai soup. Order a small order of white rice to go with the soup and that is easily a meal in-and-of itself. Also funny to note that around 11pm you're more than likely to see 4-5 cruisers parked outside as this seems to be the late night lunch-gathering place for the police :P -

Late night food only. One of the few restaurants (beside 24hr mexican) that's open late around Pomona. The usual orders:
1) spicy mint leave fried rice - they put a lot of squid though so if I ask for no squid
2) pud see Ew with beef
3) Tom yum soup
4) garlic spare ribs - they now chop it down to smaller pieces
5) pork belly with Chinese brocolli - my fave dish here. The pork is so crispy
6) beef salad
7) paw kee mow - ground chicken
Quick service. Cheap food. -

I LOVE thai food, I really do. The Mix Bowl was very disappointing to me. I ordered fried rice, and it was very flavorless and dull. Our order of wonton soup must have had 3 full green onions in it and 4 wontons, and when they messed up my boyfriend's strawberry banana boba smoothie and he said it tasted bad and they didn't include the boba they said they could take it back because it was an "individual order" and they also wouldn't take it off our bill.
Yes, they're open late, yes they're afforadble but if you're in Pomona looking for thai and you're near Indian Hill just drive up the street to Sanamluang. Its better, the staff is so nice, and it is always delicious. -
Review from Josh K.
Dirt cheap, massive portion, reasonably authentic Thai food. The inside decor is of the "TK Noodle" variety, pretty much a glorified cafeteria... really, you don't need more. Try the pad see ew with beef -- ours had great wok taste. We also enjoyed the tom kha gai soup which came in a lit hotpot vessel.
I ate here after dealing with my massive New Year's Eve hangover and it hit the spot. Wish I had this in my neighborhood back in NYC. -

I love love love this place. It is very cheap and goooood food. Cheap but still very clean. Service is very good too.
My husband goes to pomona for hair cuts so, I always asked him "when are you going to get a hair cut? " so I can go with him and afterward we stop by this place to have lunch or early dinner. I can't wait until his next hair cut!
I always order boba milk tea. it's is soooo good. This place boba tea is the best.(I tried boba tea in so many places)
We tried coconut milk based soup dish, sukiyaki (I know it's not thai food) fried rice etc..... -

Pad Kee Mow -- You get a choice of chicken, beef, pork, or vegetarian. The beef comes as ground beef, not sure about the others. Also, I usually take my noodles without the bell peppers & the mint leaves. I'm not sure why but, one time they loaded up my dish with a whole bunch of crushed up peppers. I couldn't pick them out, they were in every bite that I took, and I felt a bit queasy because it was TOO spicy! And I'm not one to complain about spice very often. But despite that incident, I still go back. I can't resist.

Not bad thai food. Had the BBQ pork plate which came with fried pork, bbq pork and chinese sausage over rice with cucumbers. Friend had pad thai. Thai places can be hit or miss. This place was decent!
Interior decor was a little confusing. Nice fish tank, but fluorescent lighting. The front counter had a weird plastic partition up behind which were pictures of some of the dishes....but, this was a sit down restaurant. I'm confused. haha A little tacky, but the food came out piping hot like I like it. Service was okay. Had to call them over for our check.
Went with a friend...enjoyed my company and the food.
Parking: plenty on private lot. -

My wife and I LOVE this place! Great tasting Thai food and good value for not a lot of money. It's really cool how they stay open until 2:00 A.M. too. Be warned that they do not except credit cards, just debit cards and cash. Always a lot of people in there late so I feel pretty safe if I go late at night.

Mix Bowl is awesome Thai food in Claremont.
I wish Mix Bowl was a chain store and we had one in OC. Whenever I am in the area I try to stop by. They have all my favorite Thai dishes at fair prices. My faves include Beef Pa Nang, The Generals Noodles, Pad Ka Pow, Pineapple Fried Rice, and the Tom Ka Kai. I hope I didn't murder the spelling... The food is great and the place has a nice atmosphere. However it tends to be crowded and don't expect a refill on your drink. Go Thai Iced tea. My other gripe is that they seldom bring every party their meal at the same time Really?? WTF! their have been times where we get our appetizers after the main course :-( , If they sent their staff to a corporate training program that teaches them how to manage customers properly I would give mix bowl five stars. -

Childhood memories of getting yelled at by my grandma for ordering from this place 2x a day!!!!!!!!!! Portions are very good!
I always got the spicy noodle version of pad see ew, pad see ew, and thai tea. I wonder if it's still good?? Too bad they don't deliver to the OC! :( -

I discovered this place when I was in SoCal visiting my sister. I looked on yelp to see if there was any good thai places around. I am so glad I found Mix Bowl Cafe. They have really great prices and the food is great for the price you pay. The pad see ew with beef is the best ever! And it's cheaper than what other places charge. The service is fast and friendly. I usually order to go. It takes less than ten minutes to make whatever I order. I go mix bowl usually after 10pm. Their curry dishes are also very tasty and has a kick. But it doesn't overwhelm. Also you must must must try the green curry rice. My sister's fiance discovered this dish. And it was the first to go!

In the past few years, I've heard so much about this place from my friend. It just so happened that my LA trip coincided with her trip home for the holidays, so I met up with her for lunch. This hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant was busy with customers and, after eating, I could see why. It was definitely the best Pad See-Ew and Tom-Kha-Kai soup I've ever had. Everything was super flavorful, the portions are huge, and the prices are cheap. One plate of noodles can easily be shared by two people, for an even cheaper meal. This place definitely lived up to all the hype. Note: The website says it is cash only, but they do accept credit cards.

Compared to other Thai restaurants, their prices are cheap. I come here quite often because I work right down the street and they don't close until 2am I believe :) Everything I have tried so far is delicious, except for one of their rib appetizers. It was salty and dry.
They could have better customer service. It's difficult to get their attention for something as simple as a drink refill.
The place and service there isn't impressive, but the food itself makes it worth it to come back! -

This is actually my first review and I'm sorry to say but the service here sucks. Im a regular customer here (i come about 4-5 times a month with my boyfriend) and have been coming here for years because i literally live right behind you. you would think they would be kind to me. Wrong. The waitresses here are straight up rude and have no respect for their customers! They're always trying to rush us out by putting our checks on the table, halfway through our meal. It gets busy and all but not busy enough to the point where they have to make us hurry eating.
The food is good and all but overall customer service sucks. -

This place has a bunch of straight up HATERS! Especially from "buji" ass asians who like rating thai food like its their dam job! I've heard BS from people like "OH MAN MIX BOWL SUCKS ASS BRO. YOU GOTTA HIT UP THAT 626 FOR THAT BOMB SHIT DAWG" Whatever man, i use to think it was just the "cool" thing for people to do to hate on mixbowl and compare it to these other "supposed" bomb thai places.
RANDOM FACT: i found out what buji meant 2 months ago from my sister cause she said something like "homie we drink that buji liqour" (Alright maybe she didnt use homie) but something like that buji = baller" apparently my ex told me about that word long before but i sorta forgot. the point is this was a good spot to plug that word in. I MAY USE IT MORE my yelp fans!!
Ok back to mix bowl history lesson! Man i ate here more than 90% of the people that yelped this place. me and mix bowl go way back i remember when it was called BIG BOWL yeah thats right motherfuckers BIG FUCKING BOWL, but their asses were getting sued or something so they changed it to mix bowl they even gave me a letter thing when i got some food from delivery. Also the past thai place that was popping was its neighbor in the plaza next to the mexican store. Samalamaluang is its name or whatever the fuck its called
Mann i remember back in my days where i was fatter (Middle school-Sophmore year) Id be home alone on weekends cause my parents be gambling and the minimum for delivery prices was 10 bucks so i always got two entrees for myself HAHAHA! good times ! *tear*
Over the years the portions have noticeably decreased and is it just me or does it seem you get more when you have the food to go instead of eating there?
Anyway pro and con time
PRO
+Good food I recommend (pud see ewe, emperor noodles Pad kee mow, chicken over rice)
+delivery
+Not extremely overpriced like the ones in OC
+Open Late
Cons
-I once found some marble glass shit like 6 years ago in my noodles but i blew it off cause i was hungry as hell (this was delivery btw)
-Portions have gotten smaller
-Motherfuckers once forgot to take out the bean sprouts from one of my noodles one time
-Fobs taking delivery orders on the phone
-Ice the shit outta thai tea and thai coffee
Overall this place has a bunch of haters but its pretty good.
This place is so nostalgic to me its not even funny..! certain dishes reminds me of friends
Emperor Noodles/Kenny = You're the first person that discovered this great dish. i mean fuck it has chicken and mothafucken SHRIMP without charging extra for the shrimp itself thats pretty bomb man.
Pad Thai/Richie = I clearly remember you complaining that half your dish had beansprouts haha
Chow Mein/Z = Homie you always use to get this shit with tofu and it tasted pretty aight!
Mix Bowl Combo Fried Rice/Diana Ho = I remember you ordering this shit and man it was bomb especially the eggroll. i straight up jocked this from you
Beef Salad/Nhi = You're in love with this dish what else can i say.
Papaya Salad/Dad = Dam homie you love this shit and i dunno why actually i never really had it but you enjoy it so its dope in my book.
One day when mix bowl ever closes down ill come back to this review and be like fuck.. mix bowl, we had some good times! BUT YEAH..! mix bowl is pretty good.. just not ill drive from la or oc to eat here good haha.
This review is longer than it needs to be but i like to write whats on my mind, I use yelp as a semi-blog, its like little pictures and memories from my life turned into a review.
Dang this is sounding more serious than it needs to be or maybe cause im typing this while the song usher-burn just came on.. ALL EMO STATUS.. LOL but you know what.. this review is over so i guess.. i gotta LET IT BURN.. LET IT BURNNN, GOTTA LET IT BURNN!
P.S I once lost my wallet with 400$ + here. FML -

I usually get the same few things: pad thai, chicken fried rice, and egg rolls. I have not been disappointed and they are really good on phone orders. I am not a Thai Food Enthusiast but I like good food. This place has been good to me.

If you haven't gone to the bathroom in days and need something to help this is the place for you. The Pad Thai will have you blowing it up in the can for days.
The crispy chicken is okay so is the pad see eww, but it takes like fish sauce.
This place is a winner though, if you want food past 10pm, otherwise avoid. -

oh mix bowl i really wanted to like you :[
I tried this place many times for their drinks but yesterday i tried their food for the first time.
CONS:
1. they didn't want to deliver even though we were a block away..
2. They got my order wrong. i ordered 3 different entrees (spicy clams, seafood curry and fish salad) and I ended up with some weird soup, no curry and I expected a normal salad with fish on it but ended up with scraps of fish on a lettuce leaf that was drenched in lemon (suspicious) ..
3. They raise the price of their boba every time I go. today it was $4.75..
Overall, I was really disappointed with the food. I don't think i've ever been picky about seafood .. but I was really really bummed out about this experience. -

So my dad and I asked the person that sold me my android where the best Thai food was at, since he was Thai. He then quickly replied Mix Bowl Cafe! He also said Coconut Bay to Thai people is equivalent to Taco Bell to Mexican people. Not authentic. lol. So I knew I had to try this place out
So first off, when I first drove to this place it didn't look like a restaurant at all. When I walked in I thought it was a fast food joint the way its set up. But that quickly went away when a waitress walked up to me and asked me how many people.
I ordered the Garlic Pepper Chicken over rice. It was alright. My first few bites of chicken had no taste of garlic. But as I kept eating it started having some flavor. But the servings aren't that big. I was still sorta hungry after I finished my food. The Thai Tea wasn't bad. But whats a Thai restaurant if they can't make decent Thai Tea? lol
Services: It was also alright. Didn't really see much of the waitress. The food came out in a timely manner.
All in all not a bad place. I read on the other reviews that they are open pretty late. I guess if I ever have a late night food craving, I can add this place to the places I can go to. lolListed in: Dig asian food?? Well I dig it…

In the rare occasion that I don't feel like Sanamluang this is the next stop on my list for Thai food in the Claremont area. It's impossibly cheap, open late and is just the right amount of greasy to keep me coming back for more.
I also love the fact that they have a ridiculously bright dining area that looks straight out of the 80s. Just an amusing restaurant to frequent.
Lately my favorite has been the curry fried rice dishes (basically rice that's mixed with curry and then pan fried) but I also like their noodles and some of their soups. It's so well priced that I'm willing to try anything because even if it's not as good as I hoped for, I didn't break the bank getting it.
Cheers! -

I used to love Mix Bowl. I am a college student that lives within walking distance and all the roommates loved the price, portions, and late night hours. I've been coming for over three years but within the past year the place has gone downhill.
The worst service I have EVER experienced. I went there with my friend and by the time I was finished my plate of pork fried rice, (30 + min) his tofu dish still hadn't arrived. We kept asking when it was going be ready, but the server couldn't give us a straightforward answer. We were pissed. We went to go pay (we weren't going to wait around for his dish any longer, and the people behind the register were giving us attitude because we refused to pay for a dish that never arrived.)
I gave it another chance because me and my family were hungry after a late night trip to Disneyland and it was the only place local that was open. SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. My dad's plate didn't arrive til we were all finished. No apologies or anything. The staff there needs alot of schooling in customer service. At least look at the customer when you're taking their order, maybe smile once in a while, and don't walk around the restaurant listening to your ipod.
Only reason I didn't give it 1 star...the pud see ewe is YUMMY. -

I've had too many people tell me how great this place is... the few times I've eaten here, the food has just not been good. If you like a mountain of greasy mush in place of your Thai food, you'll probably like this place.
I'll stick to Sanamluang. -

You cant go wrong with Mix Bowl. This place is open late and specializes in serving good Thai food and smiles. This is my favorite late night eatery in Pomona. When the sun goes down, this place comes to life as its exterior lights up like a mini Vegas casino. The food is delicious and the sea food soup is divine.
The Pad thai and Combination fried rice wont disappoint either. -

Wow, I'm surprised this place has some bashers. But hey, to each, his/her own. I do dig this place. Great portions and prices. The service is quite decent. Every time I go there, the servers are quite respectful. Sure, this is not a 5-star hotel/restaurant type of establishment, but it does its job. :)

Review from Stephanie P.
#41 It's only been a year since I graduated from Pomona College but I sure as hell miss those college days. One major aspect of my many nostalgic sessions is the craving for Mix Bowl's Pad Kee Mow with tofu. Just thinking about it is making my mouth water. You'd be hard-pressed to find a decent Thai food place here in Philadelphia that's cheap AND open late. The only place I've managed to make it to is Smile Cafe, which is decent but way overpriced compared to Mix Bowl.
Dining in, taking out, or delivery are all viable options. However, if you order super late at night for delivery, the wait can go up to an hour. I've never been fond of their delivery guys who expect tips beyond what they should get. Indeed, they've scoffed many a times when my friends and I have given them $2 tips. My point of contention is, if my order isn't more than $15, you don't deserve much more than that.
Eating at the restaurant is a much better experience because the waiters are super nice and efficient. They only take cash and debit these days because I'm sure they grew increasingly wary over forking over a ton of money to Visa/Mastercard. But, as long as you're prepared beforehand, there shouldn't be a problem. Ah, and know this, their entrees are super greasy - but that's why they're perfect for late-night chow-downs and hangover sessions. -

Ohhh mix bowl how have I not reviewed you yet????
I live basically next door to this place so it is our, "we dont feel like cooking, or driving" dinner place. Tried a variety of items on the menu and none have really failed to disappoint. I will admit some we just did not care for the flavors, but that was our taste and not the quality of the food.
As we have never sat down and ate here I cant comment on the service, but the phone and pick up have always been fine. -

I have to say I'm a fan of Mix Bowl, food is reasonably priced yet big on taste. Each dish is about $6.50 and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. We ordered the Beef Jerky, which was a plate of all pieces of steak fried and sweetly seasoned and came with an amazing dipping sauce. We got a plate of noodles with chicken and a plate of pineapple fried rice, the fried rice had only had 2 shrimp pretty weak but a good about of chicken and dried pork.
Now that I have found out about this place I look forward to coming and trying other dishes.Listed in: Thai to Die for

I LOVE this place
At a certain point me and my fiance didn't even have to order anymore, we were regulars and they already knew what we were going to order (sea food soup, steamed rice, number 39 with chicken)
The soup is amazingly delicious. We love to have it on a rainy day, or just any cold day. Its the best at late night.
They do take a while sometimes to re-fill our waters. -

I've been coming here for 2-3 years..especially for late night good/cheap eats. Lately this place has been sliding down the consistency scale. Last night a group of us came here and 2 of us ordered the beef with Red Curry sauce...when it came out...I was kinda shocked to see how little the portions were and how one order had twice as much as the other order...Sad to see the wait staff failed to do anything about it...because I know they saw it. I'm not one to return food unless they seriously F'd up...just me being paranoid not to get any "Floor Seasonings" and I was too hungry to wait. Any case...I added an extra side order of white rice to fill me up.
Will I return, probably..but I will Yelp the area for other places now. Maybe it's time to revisit Sanamluang Café. -
Review from Abraham M.
Pomona, CA
Well, my girlfriend and I enjoyed the food this placed served for a couple of months already. Yet, we just got back from it right now and will probably never go back again.
The place was never perfect, but it was good and cheap enough to keep us hooked to a few of their dishes.
Now, the bad things that have happened over time:
Different days that we went, we ended up sometimes getting hairs in our food (Happened more than once) but for the most part, we were hungry enough to either ignore it or sometimes return it for a new one. (Who knows if it was a different plate or they just removed the hair and send it back).
The service in this restaurant has never been good. All the waitresses are close to being rude and simply non-expressive. They seem to be forced to be there and do not worry too much about how are you or what you want.
Lastly, the cherry on top was today. We went and ate two plates that were priced one 6.50 and the other 6.95 and ate peacefully and comfortably (Even though our soup had a hair, again).
When I received the bill though, I checked what they had charged me and I noticed that they actually had written over the correct price and added a dollar to each item for no real reason.
They had pulled something similar before on me so I went to the cashier and asked what this was about. She told me that she was "new" and supposedly re-checked the menu (Which she didnt, because she looked at the wrong page of the menu, not where the items are listed. Which means she wrote the wrong price on purpose) and said "Oh thats right! Sorry I am new!" and changed the price.
Too bad for her, I went there often enough to know that she is NOT new and that she should know how to do it. They were straight out trying to rip me off.
When we walked out the door, she literally got out of the restaurant and asked where was the tip?
Seriously?! Where is the tip? The tip is earned! It is not something that you simply get since you half-served me and then tried to rip me off!
She goes back inside and another waitress then comes out the back door and also says "We will not serve you no more!". My girlfriend and I were extremely surprised of their actions! I mean, sure everyone needs and wants more money but I will not simply give you something you earn after you literally try to rob me. I dont care if its just two dollars, but the actual action of doing it.
They did this as if I needed them and not the other way around. I love "Banana Bay" and I guess I will do the 10 minute drive to go there again. We just went to this place due to the convenience of it being closer to home and not so much because of the flavor/quality of their food. And if I do want something closer, I guess I can always go try "Sanamluang Cafe" which they say is very similar.
So, so long Mix Bowl Cafe! You were good until your waitresses thought that stealing was good and that they deserved a tip for doing it!
Ill make sure to tell my friends where NOT to go. -

La Verne, CA
Being an avid lover of Thai food and a LOYAL customer to Tiparos in Pasadena, I was extremely skeptical to try any other Thai restaurants. But being that I am located in La Verne, driving to Pasadena to settle that Thai craving after work just wasn't going to happen. So I yelped Thai and found Mix bowl.
I ordered pad see eew SPICY with chicken $6.50: AMAZING! The flavor was out of control! Mix bowl definitely was beyond what I was expecting. My husband ordered tom yum goong soup, though this is not my favorite item on the Thai menu it was the best version of this that I have ever tasted, he thought so as well. We ate for under $20 bucks.
We did not eat at the restaurant, take out portions are very large and filling. They deliver just not to my neck of the woods :( BUT open until 2am for all your late night cravings! -

Rancho Cucamonga, CA
I've been going to this Thai Restaurant for over 6 years. Their food is delicious, and their late night hours are convenient. Prices are very reasonable. Seating is comfortable as well.
Their customer service has been average ever since, and they have reduced their portions greatly. They add more veggies as a filler in some meals, yet it doesn't deter me from coming back, it's still very flavorful.
I had so many good and bad memories here at this restaurant with family friends, and this place will always be the old hang out for me. -
Review from Adam M.
Pomona, CA
The Pomona scene has atrocious Asian fast food, so almost by default Mix Bowl tops the list.
I find their soups very good, especially the seafood soup. The fried rices are decent; avoid the combination fried rice and go for the pineapple, which is divine. Skip the Thai iced tea: it's watery and overpriced.
I've experimented extensively with the menu, and while there are some misses, I'd say about three out of every four dishes is what you'd expect: decent-to-good, not great.
Downsides:
The customer service is cold and indifferent. I've never felt welcome here. Considering I've been going here since high school, that tells you their customer service is horrendous.
The portions used to be larger, but inflation is a bitch. Also I swear their food is substantially greaser than it was just a year or two ago. That combined with their non-existent customer service and small portions has turned me off of this place. Stick with the soup or go a bit further down Indian Hill for Pho.
