We didn't come out here for the golfing, but for a wedding reception held here.  While taking family photos, we got to walk up on parts of the course.  During the fall season, you get so many colors as your backdrop, that it looks awesome.  It looks like a peaceful golf course, in which I'm sure my husband will look into the near future.

The reception hall was great.  It was quaint and cozy.  The staff was really helpful and friendly.  It holds around 160 people in the room.  They have a gazebo space for an outdoor wedding.  The food was good, not great, just good.  Clean and good space.  Overall, a nice place to hold weddings.

This isn't about the golfing, it's about a wedding banquet hosted here, though I wish it was about golfing.  It's a bit scary that it's so close to a prison facility.  It's certainly beautiful in the midwest with all the trees and greenery, but it's a cool day in October.  I was grateful for the outdoor tent where the ceremony was held, but some additional heaters would have been appreciated.  The bathroom was a little confusing as some of the guys found the signs hard to interpret and one male came into the women's bathroom.  There are 2 reception halls - one downstairs and one upstairs.  The room was nicely decorated.  The staff is super friendly and nice, but the food was below average.  It was all very bland, and if anything the beef was salty.  The presentation itself made me think cafeteria food.  I felt like the corn was served from cans that were emptied out into the buffet tray.  The wild rice was over cooked.  I wish I had eaten beforehand at one of the cute shops downtown Red Wing...

This is an old favorite of mine. It is one of the most scenic golf courses in the state. There is a 637 yd par 5 where you tee off on a 150 foot cliff. On the Highlands you are required to take a cart and for good reason. It is not a really busy course and makes a great day trip from the cities. Keep an eye out for the wildlife.
