I like MIssion pretty well. Been here lots of times, inclduing the night I finished my bar exam to do some shots. It's worthy for a meal or to get drunk in on a special occasion...just sayin.
Tonight I met a couple of friends. We shared the nachos, veggie enchilada (one of my favs), the Little Green salad (try the cumin dressing) and the chocolate cake....everything was good, and they were very accomodating with sharing plates. It's Friday, so they were busy but there was still attentive service. We even got free ice cream. :) Try the mexican chocolate or the vanilla bean to go with the molten cake...
Oh, and I'm a sucker for anywhere that incorporates sweet potato into dishes...the veg enchilada or tacos are perfection. That and Margaritas served in pint glasses = awesome.
You gotta love the atmosphere at this place, the dark lighting on a stormy night, the quality of the food and the Happy Hour, too. Give it a shot if you're nearby!
Mission is one of our regular neighborhood spots. It doesn't hurt that it's walking distance from our house. But we love the atmosphere, dark, brooding and oddly comforting.
We sit at the bar and chat with the friendly bartenders Seth and Dondra. They never steer you wrong with recommendations, and they always have the game on their two flatscreen TVs.
Other reasons to love Mission? Oh yeah, the food. Actually a lot of it is too spicy for my wussy palette, but my husband loves all of it. My favorite is the veggie enchilada, with sweet potatoes and sensational apricot mole. They always have a hoppy IPA (or two) on tap to wash it down and cool the fire. For dessert their Mexican chocolate ice cream is decadent and delicious.
This place gives me a reason to cross the ws bridge. The food here is really yummy!
When you walk in, a sign greets you that says 'Please seat yourself.' So we did. We sat at a booth across from the bar, but the server didn't notice us for about 5-7 minutes. But the football highlights were on, so we didn't mind much, except we were really hungry and grabbed the menus on our own. When he did come around, he apologized and was really nice.
I ordered the shredded chicken gordita... it was HUGE!!! and it was really good. The meat was sandwiched between two of the gordita bread thingymajiggy and comes with rice and beans. I only ate half and was stuffed. Leftovers. yay! 2 meals for the price of 1. They are also not overly priced for the amount of food they give you. I think this place is a great place for drinks with friends with great authentic food.
I would like to come back for happy hour because I love cheap eats.
steak skewers on mashed potatoes: yum! My relatively large group of friends were seated at a booth perfectly positioned to stare at the football game on tv, so I guess in the future, this would be a good football night destination --if you like that sort of thing. They also have pitchers, for beer splitting, which is nice (but no sangria pitchers). Service was good, and caught on well to our various additions to orders like sides of rice and whatever, despite the busy Friday night.
We're big fans of Mission. Love going in here on a dark, stormy night and hunkering down with the BEST steak nachos I've ever had.
Their drinks are tasty and we always start with guacamole and plantain chips. Our friends who don't like spicy food have some trouble finding what works for them, but my husband and I love the heat in most of the dishes here.
Service is a bit spotty, so go in with the attitude that you can linger with your margarita a bit and you'll be fine.
This place was well worth it. We had a gift certificate from http://Restaurants.com. so we looked this place up and cashed it in. What a great experience! The only things we had to wait for was to be seated (not that long), and for the check (which was longer), but everything in between was dyno-mite!!! First, we had the sangria. Holy cow - so delicious. We had the flauta tapas, which was so good, especially the slaw that came with it. Totally awesome! I had the pulled pork enchilladas and my husband had to adobo - both delicious. Great portions. We also had dessert and coffee. GET THE MEXICAN CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM! SO GOOD!!! They also added gratuity which I appreciate. We had a great experience and we would do it again.
One of the best happy hours in Seattle. The food is really amazing and they have a nice selection of wines to accommodate them nicely. I would highly recommend that you try the food here. Good service, good food, great drinks, cool environment. For the hatters this place is dark and service can be a little slow at times but just sit back, grab a drink, and relax until the food comes.
On the so-so list;
* Pinchos
* Calamari A La Diabla
Great, got to try them (for only 5 bucks get them all);
* Mission Nachos
* Taco Plate
* Sweet Pappas
OMG...amazing;
* Molten Chocolate Cake/ala mode
It's a win-win all around in my book...and don't forget to try the Tequila!
I was pleasantly surprised at this place. We had the plantains and guac for an appetizer... YUM! Follow that up with a couple steak taco's and you have one happy stomach. The food tasted great, the service was pretty darn good (3 water refills without having to ask) and top it off with really good prices for Seattle.
I'll have to come back... if for no other reason than to try another of the amazing sounding items on their menu!
What's not to love? I always come late and sit at the bar, so maybe I have a narrow experience, but the bartenders are really great and the food is excellent and not expensive at all. Great taps. Solid lineup of tequila (very important to me) and its right next to our beloved Admiral Theatre, so you can chill for short money after your film.
I still miss Blackbird next store, but if they had to make a choice, I'm glad they kept Mission going strong.
The ambience was pretty cool, lighting was dim. We were seated pretty quick, service was ok, and the food was pretty good and came out fast. The jalapenos, those suckers are freaking effing hot. I mean, like spicy hot. Of my course the bf friggin loved it. It was jalapenos stuffed with 3 cheese apricot? We had those along with sweet potato that was cubed, steak fajitas, mexican chocolate ice cream, and fry bread. Now if you don't have much of a sweet tooth, I def rec the fry bread. They're basically dough pieces of bread (fried, duh) sprinkled with cinnamon and dipped into lime-honey (yum). The mexican chocolate ice cream was good, i loved it. We plan on coming back :)
One of the things I love the best about Seattle is the sheer numbers of bars and restaurants which serve margaritas in pint glasses. For this alone, Mission gets my vote.
We were in W. Seattle for SIFF and this place was just down the street from the theatre, so we stopped in for a bite. The food was really great quality, especially for the price, considering you could go to Azteca or some other chain place and get a way sub-standard meal for the same price.
We had a guacamole appetizer with plantain chips, and while we thought the proportion of guacamole to chips was a little off, the guacamole was delicious and we didn't mind having extra to take home. I had a flatbread taco (which was enormous and more like a tostada - salad - giant pile of food that I was eating leftovers of for two days) and hubby had a steak skewer meal. Both delicious.
The ambience and service there was really nice -- they had one hipster waiter and one regular waiter, and the hipster dude was pretty nice in the end. The place is dark, with a long bar and cool wood and iron Mexican decor, not too overdone. Overall a good experience and I would definitely go back if I am ever in W. Seattle again.
Sort of a fun little place. We were wanting to sit outside, but no mo seats to be had. So, we snuck inside and camped out in a booth. Kind of hard seats and our rumps made a loud smacking sound when we sat down. We did the head swivel thing to see whether anyone noticed.
I had to try the calamari with the cumin on the greens. So so. Not good enough to order again, but it was okay. Our tacos were tasty though! She went with the fish taco and I had the shrimp taco. Nice tortilla and lots of fish and shrimp. I thought hard about the sweet potato taco and I might have to come back and try it.
Service was attentive and not overpowering, but the inside of the place was kind of quiet.
It's a place I would come back to if I was over in West Seattle looking for something different or was hitting the theatre (I haven't been THERE in years!).
We tried it once and food is mediocre. Atmosphere/ambiance is good though.
every time i come here i always get seated upstairs for some reason. but that's not a bad thing. there's a second, albeit small, bar upstairs and the seating, while not booths, is still pretty intimate. it seems like it's reserved for larger parties but lends itself well to a handful of couples who can appreciate being further away from the main bar's tvs and the sports generally being shown.
normally i'm a stick in the mud when i'm given the option of trying something new vs getting what i love and trust. but i've gone out on a limb here a few times and have always been pleasantly surprised. initially i would always get a steak salad (the dressing is stellar) but i started getting other stuff like enchiladas and the like. always awesome.
drinks? always awesome as well.
what's not always awesome? paying for chips and salsa. they're worth it though. and despite our culture we shouldn't just expect it to always come free. but it's nice when it does.
I am a nacho fan through and through. My quest to find fantastic nachos is a never ending search. I have a strict criteria I maintain as to what I want and don't want on my nachos. Number one on that list is no meat, coming in at a close second is no chili and third is real cheese. None of that nasty Velveeta mess they have at Taco Bell or 7-Eleven. Yes, I am picky but I demand only the best be placed on my tongue. I don't want my tastebuds assaulted with second rate nachos.
My desire for beer and food at happy hour prices had me considering visiting my go to place for cheap beer and stellar nachos: Matador, but I decided to take a leap and try something new. I had been to Mission once before but had never ordered the nachos. I decided it was time to size up what Mission had to offer in terms of one of my favorite connoctions on the planet.
Mission and Matador are one in the same when you get down to it. Both venues are dark, have wooden seating, and well, feel like a church. Am I here for mass or am I here to drink? What sets Mission apart from Matador, I feel, are the Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead for those that aren't in the know) decorations. I am partial to the figurines being Mexican and all and I just find them so darn cute. While the decorations are scarce, you see most of them in the entry way, they are a nice touch. There is an extensive collection of vodka along the wall of the bar which I found myself in awe of. Too bad I'm not much of a straight vodka drinker but more visits may make me change my mind.
At about 5:00pm the place is dead. I walk on up to the bar and am the only patron in that section. I am quickly greeted and order a Manny's and the nachos. Being the computer geek I am I visited the website to find out what kind of nachos they served. Come to find out they serve skillet nachos. How delightful.
Soon after my nachos arrive and I am excited. While not as plentiful as the Matador nachos they are the perfect size for a solo diner such as myself. The tortilla chips are simply garnished with black beans, cheese, and pico de gallo. The mound sits atop a black personal sized skilled. I pull off a chip trapped in a vat of melted cheese, slip it in my mouth, and the crunch that resonates in my head is heavenly. Just the right amount of grease and crunch has got this girl hooked.
I continued to snack on my nachos and drink my beer. The bartender was attentive and regularly checked to see if I was doing alright. With these nachos I am doing mighty fine my dear sir.
The Mission nachos passed my test with flying colors. The rest of the place ain't so bad either.
I love, love, love the atmosphere of this place. Candles climbing a brick wall, strikingly gorgeous blue wall with prayer candles in shadow boxes, second floor overlooking entire restaurant, iron railings, cozy booths. and some heavy tunes blasting through the speakers. Love it!
Great tapas menu. Had the white fish ceviche, calamari, and chicken flautus. All were very good and fresh. Calamari is not fried, which I appreciated. Chicken flatus is a hearty serving of 3 pieces and I could have easily downed 10 more. Very good! House margarita was good and strong, but not exceptionally great compared to other margarita options in the city. But still very good and hits the spot! I want to go back and try other items on their large menu!
I recently took a part-time gig running speed dating events a few times a month. The girl before me had booked a few parties at Mission, so I kind of inherited it as a venue. I am SO glad I did.
First of all, the manager, Peter, is awesome. He's EXTREMELY helpful and has been very easy to work with. I know most bars wouldn't so gladly provide drink specials AND free food, but it's been a piece of cake with Mission. And their drinks are GOOD - my favorite is one whose name I forget, but it involves champagne and vodka and a martini glass. I haven't tasted enough of the food, but I've sampled quesadillas and a few other appetizers, all of which were tasty.
The place is really nice inside and has a nice ambience, and it's definitely a place I would go hang out more often if I lived anywhere near West Seattle. There's a whole upstairs area as well, which comes equipped with its own bar and tv, which regularly plays movies or sports or even, occasionally, a fake fireplace.
As it is, I am only giving 4 stars because I haven't actually gone there and eaten most of the food. Once I've sampled more of the wares I'm sure I'll throw that last star out there. :)
I got drunk at Mission for the first time in over a year (see: pregnancy, motherhood). The last drink was tasty, but the first one was perfect.
Main dishes were pretty good. It was nice to do Mexican without feeling my arteries clogging through the whole meal. I felt very daring ordering a seafood burrito, but it had a great mix of flavors and wasn't nearly as heavy as versions I've tried elsewhere.
The desserts were hit-and-miss. The fry bread was huge but kind of boring; the molten chocolate cake had a weird texture and weak flavor. I'd head to Cupcake Royale instead.
The atmosphere was a bit loud, but conversations did occur. Service was friendly, fast, and (my husband's standard) attractive.
But the main reason I'll return is that I can get $25 Mission gift certificates for $10 on http://Restaurants.com. WOOHOO!
I love the venue, absolutely. Dark wood, azul walls, brick, candles and lanterns for lighting. Dia de los Muertos paraphernalia. Love it.
The margs were great - the house mix is perfect. We shared tapas - my favorite way to dine - and enjoyed the white fish ceviche, calamari and chicken flautus. Good balance of fishy, crispy, pico flavor. The calamari is delicious, but I just can't eat a whole baby squid without getting queasy - I can't! The texture? The lifelessness? Not that I'd want it alive, it's just there, legs - body and all in your mouth... can't do it. I tried, I swallowed. Just one.
Other than that, I really liked it and would definitely cross the bridge for another solution to a Mexican craving. The rest of the menu looks very enticing!
It's not often that I'll rave about every single thing I had at a restaurant. Mission absolutely blew our socks off -- everything we had was incredible!
We started off with spicy plantain chips and gaucamole which was very good. Not too heavy, and more than enough to share with 4 people.
For our main course, we had tiger shrimp enchilada and chicken flautas which were both excellent. Not too much food, but enough to fill you up. They even made the enchilada spicy per my request which was nice.
For dessert, we split the chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream, and cinnamon "fry bread" amongst 4 of us at the table. The lava cake wasn't as dense as you'd find at other restaurants so it didn't sit as heavy in your stomach (read: this is a good thing). They added a nice twist as well -- it came with a blackberry reduction sauce, which gave it a nice tang in your mouth.
The fry bread was like churros, but more bread-like in consistency. It came with a honey dipping sauce infused with lime. If you're mouth is watering from this description, your spot on because it was as delicious as it sounds.
It was one of the best meals I've had in Seattle in quite a few months. I'll definitely be back sooner than later.
Hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Seattle.
It's like gourmet Mexi-goodness. I think you have to be 21 after 9 pm. Sorry kiddies!
Anyway, the atmosphere is awesome...very loungy. A great place to take a date. Not formal or anything, but nice enough to show that you have some taste. The food is incredible and affordable. You can expect to spend about $14 per plate. I highly recommend Mission... especially if you're a CA native that is tired of force feeding yourself Washington-style Mexican food (barfed in my mouth a little bit).
I'm taking it down a notch (or two!).
A great friend of mine had her birthday on the upper mezzanine here after my fabulous experience back in November.
Mission loses two stars to it's moody and utterly disinterested bartender assigned to our party upstairs. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought he needed to warm up. But the entire night he looked bored, didn't engage with any of us at the bar, and then accused the birthday girl of not meeting the minimum sales (which the manager had waived).
I get it that not all bartenders are chatty and engaging. I get it that we had 20+ people versus the 30 we were expecting. I get it that our crowd probably wasn't your cup of tea (we played Step Up and White Chicks on the soundless flat screen for corny visual entertainment). But could you at least NOT be the wet blanket on the party with your brooding and obvious boredom?
I'll upgrade my rating when I go back under Peter's (the manager) care. He was fabulous for my party, and had the misfortune of staffing our latest event with his grumpiest bartender.

It was 4:00 pm and the sun was finally out in full force so ducking into Mission for Happy Hour was no easy task. Once you walk through the front door you are immediately ensconced in darkness. That's usually not a bad thing - the bar is very well designed with an amazing flagstone built-in bar - but when you're in Seattle you try and fill up on the vitamin D whenever you get the chance.
Fortunately for us the door was left opened so we grabbed a front booth and had the best of both worlds... checking out the cool, dark environs inside - while a nice swatch of sun lit up the Day of the Dead alter up front.
Upside: Decent Happy Hour. We had the Mission Nachos and the taco plate - both $5. Good food - good value.
Downside: Service. Our waiter, distracted by her friends sitting on the outside patio, seemed to forget us after we put in our order. The bartender was not any more help as he tended to his girlfriend more than he tended bar. In addition, both waiter and bartender openly snacked from the kitchen while we were still waiting for our food.
Bottom line - great design, decent food, less than stellar service.
This place was pretty good and worth trying out. We ordered the plantain chips and guacamole and also the queso to start out with. One thing I was a little disappointed about was that they gave us a big helping of guacamole but only 5 plantain chips. Similarly with the queso dip we got a small basket of chips, but the chip to dip ratio was far from adequate. Everything tasted fine though, but we ended up with all this dip left and no way to eat it.
I ordered the chicken fajitas as my entree which was pretty tasty. I think that I prefer Matador's fajitas over these ones, but still pretty good. I liked the vegetables in the fajitas, they had added some sort of squash it looked like which was a nice twist.
We also ended up getting a dessert, the fry bread. It was tasty with a honey sauce, but it tasted like the bread was missing something, not quite sure what it was.
Overall this place was good, but did not blow me away.... worth trying.
Love this cozy spot. So Mexican in feel, and the food is really great. I love the loft space too, there's not a bad seat in this house.
The service was excellent, and I loved the Margaritas. Our food was outstanding.
I had a good night at Mission (or bad, depending on how you look at it). The queso fundido and guacamole both made for some tasty appetizers. I think it was the best queso I've had. I had a chicken quesedilla as my entree. It was pretty good. The margaritas are amazing. Get the Cadillac one. The service was good as was the atmosphere.
Went here a few weekends ago. It was early evening on Friday so it wasn't too packed. I had their mahi spicy tacos which was really good. It sucked because the hostess originally sat is right in the middle of the bar which.. we weren't there to drink. We asked for a different table and got seated upstairs.. the tables are really small and my legs were cramped.. but the food was tasteful. :)
No reason to leave the beaten track.
Went there last night to get drinks with friends. My lady and I were really hesitant to go, thinking that a Saturday night would have the place mobbed. It was nice to get a table right away, a booth even, but I should have taken that as a sign of what became evident later.
The night, from the perspective of the drinks and the service, was a 'blah'. Drinks were weak, the service was average, and the atmosphere was non-existent.
There's a lot of competition in the 'expensive Mexican food' market in Seattle, especially with Matador at the junction and Cactus at Alki. Mission does nothing to stand taller than their peers, nothing. The signature of an 'expensive Mexican food' restaurant is good margarita. Whether strong or made with exotic/fresh ingredients, it's the distinction across the pack. Mission's margys? Sorry, they sucked. I had 2 varieties, and neither tasted any better than store-bought mix and bottom-shelf tequila. We passed the glass around the table, and 4 in 4 diners agreed. Thumbs-down.
As far as food goes, we ordered an appetizer off the Happy Hour menu. The waitress suggested we get 2 orders to cover the 4 of us, but I'm glad I pushed back on her offer. We ordered what should have been crispy finger-food sweet potatoes, but got soggy diced sponges. They weren't even salty. The real menu might be awesome, but, again, this place did nothing to rise above their competitors.
Bottom Line: Mission does nothing to impress me. It needs to be either cheap or awesome, and it's neither.
This place is one that I'd consider a neighborhood gem. It's dark/classy inside, but know that it's very small so seating is very limited--even moreso with the outdoor seating. As such, Mission isn't ideal for large groups, but is great for a date or with a smaller group of the homies. The service is whatever, but the food here is fantastic! I guess it would be considered Southwestern fare, but much better than most other so-called Tex-Mex type restaurants that we've been bombarded with over the last decade. I went for happy hour, so I can't speak to their regular menu, but I know I'll definitely be back again in the future.
We were visiting Seattle this past weekend & wanted to see what kind of Latin American cuisine Seattle had to offer. After a long, annoying cab ride over we were hoping the food was outstanding and needless to say it was.
I am very picky about latin/Mexican food. I don't like it heavy or greasy and the food at Mission was definitely neither of those...It was very fresh, light and delicious!!
For an appetizer our group had the guacamole w/ plantain chips, mmmm! Their guac was heavenly. Something that drew me to this place was that they have vegan options!! I have never been to a Mexican place that was so vegetarian friendly!
Our table also had the sweet potato tacos, OMG I only wish we had a Mission in SF, mmmm, and we the chicken enchilada which we were told was perfection! The waiters were friendly, the vibe was chill and we walked right in and didn't have to wait! My only complaint was it was a little dark inside, but it probably wouldn't have bothered me if it wasn't midday and beautiful out as it was this past Friday.
Eating at the Mission definitely started our weekend off right and eased the tension from our shady cab ride over, this place is a must try!!
Just discovered this place a couple months ago. Who knew what was next to the old theater on Admiral. So came in around 5:30 and caught the happy hour to order the mushroom quesadilla, which was quite good. For entrees, I got the gordita and the bf ordered the pulled pork tacos. The gordita was super puffy and pretty spicy. The tacos were just okay. Both were a good size and came with rice and beans. Everything was a bit spicier for a Mexican restaurant, but in a good way. Maybe it's because the food is more Southwestern than "Mexican." The coconut ice cream (btw, fantastic) was the perfect dessert to cool the spices and just enough to not be bursting at the seams.
The service was attentive and the bathroom was very clean. The decor is nice, and I really wanted to know what it was like upstairs. Yet the ambiance is kind of loud and dark. Probably not best for big groups. I also remember thinking the seats were a bit hard. But a really great place to try out. The food is out of the ordinary and the drinks also looked appealing.
Whaaaa? I cannot believe I've yet to review Mission!
A friend of mine recently asked, "Katie, I'll be in West Seattle for a date.. Where to go for drinks and/ or dinner?" My immediate response, without hesitation: "Mission!"
I was a patron of theirs early on and have always had great food, great service and good drinks each and every time I've been in. While I'm a big a fan of their Mole and their margaritas, the main reason for my returns is usually the plantain chips & guac... they're just so good!
They've got a great cocktail list as well. While the place can get busy on any given night, it's still some seriously sexy atmosphere and makes for a great date spot. The rock wall behind the bar is impressive and even more impressive is the tiny tea lights that it houses.
Hand's down, the best date spot in West Seattle. Take the lady/ gent there today.. it won't disappoint!
I've only been once, but I absloutely dig the Atmosphere. It's everything that you hope your stylish neighboorhood bar would be; low lighting, great music, amazing service, and ecclectic style to boot.
I'm planning on going back for food after seening all the great reviews, and will make an update!
When Mission first opened a few years ago I use to go all the time because it was new. Than one day I ventured across the street to the Admiral Pub and discovered fried mac 'n cheese and never looked back until recently.
The food is tasty, I enjoy the guacamole with spicy plantains, if you order this take the plantains out of the guacamole right away otherwise they get soggy and I soon discovered I don't like soggy plantains. The queso fundido is a fun so say as well to eat and the three cheese and artichoke dip accompanied by chips to use for dipping is tasty as well. Their mission nachos are know to be crack to some.
Their service can be hit or miss, if it's a big group I don't think they know what to do with themselves but if just you and a friend or two things seem to go ok but not always so consider yourself warned.
They have happy hour everyday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm which is nice because sometimes you need a happy hour on Sunday, unfortunately they only have drink specials no food specials but the food isn't outrageously prices so it's not bad plus they have Mexican ice cream for dessert, yum!
The ambiance was great, service was great, and the food was awesome! I have never been to a Latin American place that has so many vegetarian options, even tofu, how crazy is that! I was in heaven! Try the sweet potato tacos, they are vegan I think, but totally delicious! The plantin chips were yummy and the desert looked insanely good. The people next to us had some chocolate dish with ice cream that smelled so good, but we were too full to indulge.
Mission = Peso's - beautiful people - ESPN.
The food is good. The employees don't give a fuck about you or their job. They're unattractive and smell like patchouli. The last time I went, Ray Charles live from 1978 was on with no sound and they refused to change the channel. The time before that, our server's girlfriend was there and he chatted it up with her all night while we waited to order more beer...
I'll definitely be back for the food but will continue to tip 4%.
W. Seattle is the new black?!!
6:30 PM Monday - We're trying to run all these wierd errands AND satisfy a hunger craving... Mission was a place that Megan and I wanted to check out. Because we're in W. Seattle and so far away from my safe bubble-neighborhood up north, we rolled up, got seated right away inside and was promptly asked for our drink order...
They don't have happy hour food, but they have great happy hour drinks! and it's till 7PM. love it. The menu looks great and the atmosphere is relaxed. love that too..
We had the mushroom quesadilla, queso FUNdido, and ceviche. And for drinks - 2 margaritas and a guiness.. all for less than $40
Definitely coming back!
We took Yelpers advice on some of the dishes we ordered. Thank you, yelpers!
We shared the jalapeno appetizers (special for the evening) and plantain chips with guac! Plantain chips/dip was awesome!! I wish there were more chips! The jalapeno was a little too spicy for me but my husband liked it very much! I ordered the nachos with pork. I think I will skip the pork next time and try steak for the meat. They were generous with the cheese! That is a major plus! My husband ordered the steak enchilada- we really liked the mole sauce! The rice and black beans were blah.
We would come back here when we are in the area!
West Seattle is actually winning my cold heart over, but don't tell Ballard, for she's a jealous bitch.
Great interior, good HH beer prices, tasty 3 cheese artichoke dip and guacamole with plantain chips...
Cranky pissy waitress who copped attitude at my request to separate my tab out before the impending mob of people showed and proceeded to leave it at the bar for me to fetch instead of dropping it with me. You can suck my imaginary left nut.
Four stars for the food! We went there for HH and ordered nachos, and really, I know it's weird, but we couldn't figure out why they were The Best Nachos We Had Ever Had. And it wasn't the drinks, I tell you. The guacamole and salsa is just uber tasty.
We liked it so much, the next night we ordered carry-out! That's just crazy. The chicken tacos were excellent (soft corn shells) and I can't remember what my husband had, but he actually said, "There is just so much flavor going on in this plate." Flavor, people. That's what it's all about.
The only star off is because the Happy Hour was a little frustrating. The upstairs area is super hot, but they didn't complain when we asked if we could open some windows. The couches are a nice touch.The upstairs has a bar, but no one was manning it, so the server had to run downstairs for every drink order. That sucks for her. However, it may have sucked less had she made eye contact with any of us more than once the entire evening. She would show up with a drink, deposit it, and be spinning around on her heel and sprinting away before anyone else could open our mouths to order anything. Consequently it became a really weird evening of, "Wait! Wait! Could I order...?" and then she'd be off without asking if anyone else wanted anything. So what happened was, she had to make a separate trip for every. single. drink. And it was her own doing, not ours.
