I have had some great burgers here. The waitresses aren't always the most friendly though.
I received some fries that were not fully cooked, they were a bit frozen in the center. It's happened more than once.
I had a double burger, it was okay. I wish I would have held the onions though. It is a bit slow, but there are just two people working here normally.
The food was decent, fresh, tasted good.
The fries were extremely hot. The default ketchup size was not enough, and it seemed like a hassle to get more.
3.5 stars for overall food quality/value, but bump up to 4 stars for friendly service.
Went here today with a friend who occasionally stops here for a quick lunch and tried the famous teriyaki burger for $3.09. It was pretty decent, but other than the teriyaki sauce, I don't know what makes the burger amazing. My friend tried the fish burger and thought it was pretty good, definitely better than the fast food joints. I also tried his onion rings and thought the batter was a bit starchy and chewy (not in a good way). We got six rings for $1.99...eh.
I walked away satisfied with my meal. The prices are reasonable and the food came out in decent time. It took a good 10 minutes but at least I know the food is cooked to order. Note: they don't accept credit cards, so bring cash! Anyhow, I'll be back...
This place is only a few blocks from my house, didn't realize this place was such a popular neighborhood spot! I'm just back from school for a few weeks and I wanted to try to find new places to try in Fremont, decided to finally visit this little burger shack everyone's been talking about.
My bf ordered the teriyaki special ( chicken sandwich, steak fries, drink) and I got the teriyaki burger ( only $3.09! ) everything on the menu is under $7 :D We were there around 1pm on a weekday and there was a line- not a horrible wait and definitely worth it. There's plenty of shady benches to sit in the quiet parking lot behind it.
I just think it's interesting that it was Korean ladies making hot dogs and burgers, oh wells it was YUMMY. I gobbled my burger up - it wasn't huge but for the price it was satisfying. The teriyaki sauce was awesome with the burger. My only gripe is I wish my onions were cooked, but everything is freshly made. The chicken sandwich was good too. Fries were crispy and not too oily.
I'd definitely bring people who were visiting Fremont to this place or anyone who hasn't tried it yet!
I dont see what all the fuss is about.Maybe I went on an off-day for them.
I got a burger, fries and a drink and after eating it regretted not going to my original destination,Johns Char Burger in Livermore.
I had drove by this place numerous times but never had tried it till this day and I cant say that I've really been missing anything all these years.Food and service were both sub-par.
I would give this a 4.5, but I can't.
I come here a lot during school lunch (usually resulting in being tardy and an angry English teacher). All their burgers are good, and I'm in love with their onion rings. The place is incredibly tiny but cute, and all seating is outdoor. It's almost like a little stand. Service is a bit slow, but that's because there's usually only one or two people there.
They need to stay open later because I'm always craving something from there.
agh i'm sorry i have to give it a 3, but hear me out.
it's average. Yes, i can understand the peoples' raves, but i'm not too big of a fan. Went numerous times with friends who are think it's bomb-diggity, and i found it to be just average (though the teriyaki burger is quite unique.)
don't get me wrong, it's not tainted or nasty, it's just not worth the money. A high school student who makes minimum wage, i just can't afford to be going here too often. Too many people during the lunch rush, and the service was too slow to keep up with the demand (only 2 people manning the store...) for a stingy HS student, i suggest dropping by only once in a while.
I ordered the fish burger, and I thought it was okay...
When I think of High School, I think of trips to Mission Burger.
Best tiny little burger joint ever created! It's owned and operated by two little asian ladies. They have a menu of the different burgers you would ever possibly think of eating. My favorites? Cheeseburger, Canadian Bacon burger, and Teriyaki burger, with either onion or regular fries, and a big old mean drink to wash it down with.
HEAVEN, I'm telling you. Definately better than In-N-Out, but not open as long. Too bad, sometimes I have a mean craving around 1am for Mission burger, and I can't satiate that craving!
Oh well, we can always wait until it opens at normal operating hours I guess.
My dad claimed the burgers at Mission Burgers are better than In-N-Out. Who am I to argue with a burger, so it didn't take much convincing for me to go with my dad for lunch.
I got a plain cheeseburger, and there really wasn't anything special about it. It had that burnt charbroiled taste that a lot of people like, but I'm not a fan of.
This place was definitely not worth bumping anything from my Bay Area must-eat list, so I will not be back.
The burger tastes OK, not good enough and not bad. Considering the low price, only 3.09 for most of the burgers, and the friendly ladies, it is a good place to have a meal. Teriyaka burger is my first choice and onion ring is not bad.
My five stars are based on the location, service, and quality of food. I worked not too far from here and found this to be a great getaway without lines if you could make it before or after the lunch hour hits, since lots of students and hungry people head over here. Since it's a small tucked away burger stand, it can take a while during the mad rush. The ladies who work here are super sweet. They prepare their burgers with lots of attention to detail, and you end up with a tasty, neatly made meal. The size of a regular burger is twice the size of an In-N-Out (their burgers seem to be shrinking), so I didn't even need to upgrade to a double. I have yet to try their shakes, which I plan to do on my next visit. Jong mal mahshitsayo, "Very tasty!"
Dropped by here the other day during my lunch hour because my coworkers all swear by Mission Burger. The location itself isn't much, but as long as they make good burgers, who cares.
I decided to go with what was recommended to me; the Teriyaki Chicken Burger Combo which was around $7.
The chicken burger was awesome. Since Mission Burger is Korean owned, their BBQ chicken is basically Korean BBQ; therefore, awesome.
Mission Burger is a nice spot to go for lunch. The wait isn't long and the food is decent for the price you pay. Portions are decent, but I think it could be $1 cheaper overall.
Stopped by here for lunch today with some "co-workers". One of the girls was very excited about the BBQ burger, so I thought I'd give it a shot too. Turns out it was a regular hamburger with some barbecue sauce poured on top of the patty. Was it really worth the extra 40 cents? I'm not sure.
The hamburger itself was alright. It smelled good as the food was being freshly grilled to order, but when I was eating it, the meat didn't taste like anything. Needs more salt plz. I need to carry a salt and pepper mill in my purse...I swear everything needs either salt or pepper added!
Anyways, I ate most of my burger, but once I ran out of my drink, I couldn't get myself to swallow it anymore. The bun tasted kind of funny to me...but it's been a while since I've had a burger to myself, so maybe I'm starting over as a burger novice.
I miss Esteban's...which shared the other side of this weird little restaurant shack of an establishment. What was hilarious though was the new sign for the out of business Esteban's was renamed "Paco's Taco's" Lol!!!

I ordered a cheeseburger and I think I like McDonald's better.
Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. It beats places like in &out by a mile. Two older asian ladies run the place. I also love their fries. It is always delivered nice n hot, juicy and yummy. This place doesn't mess around. Next time I go there I want to try the teriyaki since everyone seems to be lovin it on yelp. Actually I ordered one last time but they were out so I just went for my usual burger. Imna try the onion rings too, saw someone that had them they looked like the bomb beez.
Old school burger stand staffed by 1-2 people trying to make it all happen. The burgers are ok, but if I want a burger I go to In-and-Out. The Italian Sausage sandwich is excellent, and I often get cravings for one. The Teriyaki Chicken sandwich is also very good, and a bit of a "signature item." Fries are the really big, think-style fries I hate - so the decent onion rings are the way to go for me. Food is always fresh. Can be a bit slow if you get behind the lunch crowd,
I stopped going for a while when they decided to strat charging for cups of water. Last time I went back, I wasn't charged so I'll go again.
I got the teriyaki burger special. It was a really good burger with a nice tangy teriyaki sauce. My friend got the Double Burger and we shared fries and onion rings. Nothing is really special about the onion rings but the fries were these thick steakhouse fries that were HEAVENLY! According to my friend, he said that the milkshake was "really creamy yet small". I will continue to come to this place, and I will enjoy my next visit.
Long Live Mission Burger*!
*if they close down tomorrow don't blame me
~The Sleepy Thinker Award: Best Teriyaki Burger in Fremont~
This is one of those "Ahh that hit the spot" places. Especially the teriyaki chicken burger (also bigger option: teriyaki chicken sandwich, which is larger than the standard hamburger bun) ... washes down so well with a nice cold coke and their fatty steak fries. Definitely a Fremont staple, though then that doesn't say much so I should just say this place is yummy and well worth a visit! I guess I'm not giving it all 5 stars because all of their other stuff is pretty normal so if you go definitely go for the teriyaki burger first. Outdoor seating makes for a pleasant dining experience minus seeing your napkins fly away as you eat... that always happens...
Note: they have special combos (like burger + fries + drink for a price) but I believe that it is no cheaper than ordering them separate. Nothing wrong with that, but just don't think you're getting a better deal because I don't think so... at least last time I checked :p
One of the women working here is new since I've never seen her out of all the times I've come here to eat in the past. Either that or she worked on the days I didn't come to eat. I did wait for awhile to order but that's normal. The Teriyaki Chicken sandwich tastes a tiny bit different but still good.
I took a picture of the menu, too.

If you only have 30 minutes for lunch then you might want to hit up Micky D down the road. You won't get your burger fast here but you'll get it good.
Just like any good burger place they grill it with "love" and that's why it's so good. Not the run of mill frozen brick in the microwave cooking. And their french fry are tasty and yummy too.
all outside seatings but what's better than having a juicy burger under the sun? It just feels like home cook bbq.
So here I am browsing through Fremont Yelp reviews and I stumble upon Mission Burgers. I remember coming here all the time back in the day (back in the high school days... haha). Just like Carol O. mentioned, this place is owned by some Korean ladies (random for a burger joint), and yes, they can be stingy. Especially when you're like me and ask for a sh*tload of ketchup and salt. Anyhow, this place has the best burgers. I don't know what it is about it, but they're so damn good. Their fries are also yummy. Big stripped potatoe fries, MmmMm.
Too bad I've become a faithful vegetarian, or else I would go back to Mission Burgers the next time I'm hope and get a burger and remind myself of how good they are.
Oh, and some tips about this place. If you come during a busy time (lunch time or if you see a line of more than 3-4 people), expect to WAIT. There's only 2 ladies in this tiny little... portable stand thing, so don't expect to get your burgers pronto. Make sure you come with some time on your hands to wait. Also, very limited seating. There's about 2 picnic tables and that's about it. Pick up your burger and eat it in your car.
Went here during my boyfriend's lunch hour from work since it was nearby, and it was yummy! The cheeseburger was delicious, and didn't make me feel gross after eating it...which is usually the case. The price was also fantastic...$3.19 for a cheeseburger! My boyfriend ordered a fish burger and wasn't to ecstatic about it, but also didn't say it was bad.
Situation woo hoo here; in the burger realm. Vestiges of past burgerdom, as client can watch their burger assembled in a clean environ. Flame cooked and served with just enough grease to satiate the savage hunger. Canadian bacon burger is excellent also, since one might remove the bacon, with melted swiss all over it, and enjoy it as a side thingee. Its just sick. This is kinda a dear burgr letter, as this is clearly an addiction that needs to go. Work across the street, so cold turkey is gonna be tough. Folks like the teriaki sandwich too... Caluculated the monthly habit and the facts are in... it's gotta go. For anyone wanting the best burger around-- this is the place. Crap! OK maybe once a week... woo hoo!
I found this place by accident. Its is really tiny and I think that's the only way to find it.
There are tons of positive reviews, mostly mentioning the teriyaki. I had something different so i thought I would mention that other food there is just as good. I got the BBQ polish. I know that sounds weird, i was actually ordering something else but then i asked the little lady what she likes and that's what she said. She is pretty tiny so i don't imagine she puts back a lot of high calorie stuff like that but i went for it. I was mentioning to my daughter that i could get a costco polish for $1.25 and what was i thinking? Then our food was ready and this thing was so NOT costco, it was very tasty. It was grilled with the sauce (at least it tasted that way, not just put on top), and had the freshest veggies i almost screamed. The roll was fresh and yummy as well.
My daughter and i exchanged bites and her cheeseburger was good too. It was not thick but that's how i like em', very basic grilled burger. The fries are the big steak fries and I didn't finish them, not a huge fan of the huge fry, but they were tasty. I could have used more drink, not sure if they do refills, i didn't want to bug the ladies. There was about 10 picnic benches to eat there if you like, thats what we did, most people took food to go.
I had the teriyaki chicken sandwich combo. The chicken was juicy and the vegetables in the sandwich was very fresh and crunchy. However, I didn't taste the teriyaki flavor from the chicken. I saw that the cook just brushed some sauce on the chicken before she took the chicken off the grill. The fries are huge steak fries (not my preference). I was full just from eating the fries. This meal came with a small soda, which was mainly ice. I finished my soda before I finished my food. The meal cost me $6.95. It seems pretty expensive for a chicken sandwich meal, but everything was fresh. I will come back when I have an urge for a chicken sandwich.
Old school burger stand! :D I've been here a couple times throughout the last year of high school and when I go back home to visit during college. My favorite thing to order is still the teriyaki chicken burger. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but there are only two(?) women working in there.
three words: teriyaki chicken burger. deelliciiooousss!
their steak fries are pretty good too.
the portions are generous and the prices aren't too bad. the only downside is that the line gets super long starting around 11AM and they close in the early afternoon so i can never get any when i come home from work during the summer. sigh.
I got the teriyaki burger. It was a regular burger with a teriyaki sauce. It was just a regular burger all around. Nothing really to write home about. I do like the simplicity of the joint as it is comprised of just a walkup window along with benches and umbrellas for shade. It was a nice day to sit outside which I enjoyed.
Maybe I'm biased, but I'm not a big burger fan in the first place. This little place is a fun joint that serves up a good variety of burgers. I especially like the teriyaki burger, but I feel that's really the only thing they've got going for them. It's not expensive and is a really great stop with friends or family for a quick lunch.
I got the cheeseburger combo. The burger was pretty standard. Nothing special.
It really is the BEST BURGER IN TOWN!!! I've been coming here ever since I started college.
My friends and I are always down for some Mission Burger. I remember the first time I had it, it was tasted AMAZING. It still does every time I've gone.
I tried the Teriyaki/BBQ/Chese Burgers. Teriyaki Burger is the best! Always ask for some extra sauce. I really like the idea of charbroiling it. Doing so adds a better taste to the patty.
Fries, they're pretty good. I would prefer them over any other joint.
Onion Rings, not something to crave for but I occasionally get it.
Service is kinda slow, so plan accordingly. A lot of people come here for lunch and it takes a while to get your food. Don't blame them, there are only 2 people working!
I would really suggest this place over In-N-Out any day.
mMmm Teriyaki burger!
I've been eating at this place for a long time, and I've seen it have its up's and downs, but it is a great place to eat. The sandwhich's, onion rings, shakes, hell you name it, are all good. The only thing is, its a bit more pricey than one would expect, but hey, good food is worth paying for. Now that summer is coming around, this would be a great place to eat because of its better than average dining area, and relative short wait time.
Try it out, I recommend the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwhich w/ onion rings, but you won't be disappointed.
the mister LOVES this place for the charbroiled burgers. i dig it, too, but felt i should warn y'all about a couple of things.
a) place is run by two cute little, but stingy, korean women. you can't give me an order of steak fries and ONE packet of ketchup and then give me a dirty look when i ask for more. please? just one, ok two, more? same goes for napkins.
b) they're CLOSED on sundays. very disappointing the couple times we've happened to be craving good burger & fries on a sunday afternoon.
c) double cheeseburgers here are not stacked. the two patties are actually placed side by side on a long bun. that just caught me a little off guard the first time i saw it.
this place has been here for years. I like the place but I wouldn't call it spectacular. Used to be much more popular than it it is today. The cheesburgers are solid but if I was in this shopping center I would go to Estebans instead (when he was open).
My wife works near here and goes here for lunch often. She took me on a weekend when it wasn't nearly as crowded as I've been told. I thought the place was cool. It's a straightforward burger stand. I ordered a double cheeseburger, which turned out very tasty indeed. The onion rings and french fries are also top notch. I would definitely come back if I'm in the neighborhood. I've been told that the line during peak hours is pretty horrendous, so if you're going on a lark, go during off-hours.
Their Teriyaki sandwich is very good. With an order of fries for less than $7. Nice little place to take a quick snack. There are benches with umbrellas for you to eat your food. 1 min away from Ohlone College.
As others have said, very good teriyaki chicken sandwich. Be prepared to wait behind a usually huge, very slow moving line of college or high school students (Ohlone is across the street, and Mission High about a mile away). The ladies who run it are entertainingly abrupt most times, and move slower than molasses, but the decided lack of care about service is part of the entertainment, and you get actual cooked food that's not mass produced like down the street at McDonald's.
Growing up in Fremont, I had no idea this place actually served burgers. I thought they just served teryaki chicken sandwiches with no mayo. Kinda like how HotDog on a Stick has other things on the menu, but people are completely oblivious.
Anyways, teryaki chicken sandwich good, long line if after 11:30 am, long wait for food, blah blah blah, other people have pointed out most everything.
But this is one of the few places in Fremont that has character. You want friendly and prompt burgers? Consistent hours? A menu that's constantly in full stock? Go to Burger King, square.
You never know what kind of attitude you're going to get, and that's part of the fun. I see burger joints in the dirty south where the staff yells profanities at the customers, and people laugh. This is Fremont's PG-13 version - the kind with Korean women that are rude and serve good fries and chicken that's been teryakied.
Come here on a sunny day with no more than four people, grab a table and watch how people react to those broads behind the counter. Dinner and a show for $7. Yeah, I'd pay that to see a girl get a nickel to the face for overpaying (hehe) over a delicious sandwich.
Mission Burger is an awesome "old-school"-type burger joint where the kitchen is the whole building. It's been one of my lunch spots for many years; it's been here for such a long time. The chicken teriyaki sandwich is one of my favorites, but the burgers are always classic and delicious. Some of the best onion rings can be found here; you know, the ones that melt in your mouth. Oh yeah, one last tip if you like grilled onions, you can get them if it's not too crowded. Grilled onions gives this place its fifth star.
