Oh, the burger.  *drool*  (Melanie N., Gene X., and Andrei Z., who are doing the 7x7 Top 10 burger tour of SF, had  not gotten to the Mission Beach burger yet, and kept molesting mine with their eyes.)

This is a beautiful, clean, upscale place, with a dimly lit, cozy atmosphere.  It'd be a great date spot.

I had the burger - in case you couldn't figure that out - which is on a brioche bun with gouda and caramelized onions.  It's cooked perfectly to order (for me, medium rare) and comes with fries.  The group also had the grilled flatbread (greens, seafood, cheese) and parmesan truffle fries.  Each were incredibly good.  My other friends had the filet mignon ($28) and rabbit pot pie ($18), which earned raves as well.

My minor complaints (more of a heads-up for the uninitiated): the regular fries that came with the burger were unremarkable,  (upgrade to parmesan truffle, even though it will cost you more); adding bacon cost $2 (!) more; the grilled flatbread appetizer didn't say on the menu that they add seafood...which is cool, unless you have vegetarian friends with you.

By my estimation, if you get the burger here, add bacon, and upgrade to the truffle fries, you'd probably pay about $20 - close to what you'd pay at Burgermeister for a specialty burger + fries, but the burger is better, there's waiter service, and the atmosphere is classy.

It's not an every day treat, but it's a damn good one - and I will be back to try the brunch!

So we cabbed out here thinking it's better to have brunch before 3:30pm.

As soon as we walked in at 3:28pm, the server was giving us an unapproving look. I double checked the hours thinking even if they closed early we were still be way before 6pm.

We were greeted with "we close at 4:30 today." We said okay we will order and eat fast. It was a couple minutes and we were seated. Before I even took off my jacket the server, with 2 fingers up, said, "you have 2 minutes." And while she put down the menu, it's within 30 seconds she came back and said, "what would you want to order?"

We ordered quickly the quiche, crab benedict and French Toast.

The quiche showed up, dry and only lukewarm. We kept an open mind. Another 10 minutesthe food came but no coffee. We asked a different server for the coffee because the first server completely ignored us. This guy was much nicer.

Upon having the food I had to request maple syrup again. My date's benedict had the yolks were completely overcooked. He could not believe how one could ruin the eggs and asked a different server about the yolks (yes you guessed it, the first server was still out ignoring us.) This server was nice enough to immediately ask the already cleaned kitchen to boil 2 extra eggs. Unfortunately, the crab tasted old too.

My maple syrup showed up! But the French Toast was overly soggy and tasted like a detergent soaked sponge.

The food was just very very bland, uninspiring, boring, or just bad.

One thing you can't possibly mess up is coffee. But the coffee tasted like from the bottom of the pot-- coffee grind.

That female server never apologized for her absence other than bringing the check. If she would have said it's just too late for lunch we would have gone somewhere else. But the unannounced early closing on a holiday (not even on the door saying they would close a few hours early), the complete lack of basic service from the server and the poor quality of food would have been a complete write-off if it's not for the second round of eggs, and the rest of the servers who tried to redeem one server's poor service. Thus the 1 star.

I almost felt it did not even deserve a writing as it's a waste of my time. But then I want to forewarn my fellow yelpers about this place, especially if a server puts up an iron cast pan face, you know you should head somewhere else.

DIVINE.  We came for the weekday brunch and we had the:

1)  French Toast  (4-stars)
2)  Biscuits + honey  (5-stars)
3)  Burger (5-stars)
4)  Beef Shortrib (4-stars)
5)  Crab Benedict (not sure didn't try it and it got cold, but they put it back in the oven for us to heat it back up without a problem).
6)  Blue Bottle Coffee! (3-stars, great coffee, but not piping hot).

They made substitutions for me without hassle and without an extra fee.  They also forgot to make my substitution and before they even brought out my dish, so they gave me a whole side of them (I requested biscuits instead of fries). Every single thing we had was divine.

This is probably my favorite brunch place in SF to date.  :)

It's 6 hours later and I'm still stuffed.  Great meals go a long way!  Thank you, MBC!

There is one truism in our most beautiful city - if a place has been open more than a year and still has an insane line, the shit is good.

I used to live a block away from this joint when they were just starting to serve "food" and always thought of it as the place to easily get my Blue Bottle coffee fix without having to traipse to Hayes Valley.

Since then - and I've heard some nonsense about a former Top Chef running around the kitchen - I've grown to appreciate it for so much more.

Brunch is a must but dinner can hold its own in a bar fight too. I love a place where you can stare at the menu for 20 minutes and still be torn. This is that kinda place. Sophie's Choice sorta scenario.

For brunch the egg sando and the tangerine-lime mimosa will cure just about anything that ales you. The dinner dishes are much more complex and should only be ordered after at least one glass of wine and some 'snacky-treat' prior.

Thrilled these kids turned a really nice, second hand furniture joint into a culinary temple. Give it a try and ask for Dillon!

I don't want to give this place five stars so my wait for an amazing weekend brunch gets even longer.

Crab eggs benedict + extra side of bacon + the shortibs + tangerine mimosa + cute and playful waiter = happy Sunday.

Not that they need yet another review since everyone knows MBC rocks for brunch but I finally had dinner here for Melanie N's birthday and it was delish.  I had the Prather Ranch Filet Mignon for my entree but the truffle fries and flatbread we shared amongst the crew.

The seating was a bit tight for our big group, but the food was why we were there of course and MBC delivers.  I've eaten lots of pastries here and brunch but dinner stood up just as well.  Definitely don't just think of this place as a brunch option.

Stay tuned for the review of the burger, which I was salivating for - but wasn't allowed to order this visit...

Very friendly Castro based wait staff (hi Tinkerbell!). Delicious artisan dishes, with really beautiful presentation.

I've only been here for the brunch, but everything I've had has been phenomenal. The biscuits and gravy are a absolute must have. Every ingredient is hand prepared, including the desserts.

The owner of the restaurant is one of the chefs and has been featured on national television a number of times. As far as I can tell, it's for very good reason.

Be prepared for a bit of a wait. It's ranged from 15 minutes to 45 in the times that I went for brunch. Relax, grab a coffee inside and talk to the staff while you wait, they're all great.

Their caramelized, maple infused bacon is amazing! The short rib hash is rich, and soupy, but tasty. The tea smoked tuna on risotto cakes is too small of a portion, and lacked dynamic flavors that were found in the other dishes at our table. The service was slow and forgetful, yet polite.

this -used- to be my favorite brunch place until sunday.  beside the hungover mood that i was in, there was no excuse for my experience here sunday.  i think we set out right at noon for this place.  after 45 min  of waiting for a table of 3, she calls my name and says just one sec while they clear our table.  then wait for 15 min....nothing.  then again, calls my name, and just a sec to clear our table.  this is the longest ive ever had to wait here, even on a busy sunday.

finally we sit down, and my hangover drinks (mimosa + coffee) come out quickly.  but then our order...20 min goes by.  30 min.  40 maybe?  then ask the waiter... 'hey um...wheres our food'.  then he responds as if he had no idea or care in the world that we were just sitting there waiting.  'oh your food um ok let me check'.  time goes by.  something about tickets in the computer.  'um do you know when our food is coming out?'  'ok there was a mixup in our computer and your table should be next'  not really apologetic, not really caring.  he brings a croissant over to eat.  bleh.  we tell the waiter this time 'uh we are gonna leave soon.  can we expect our food in the next 5 minutes?'  then our food finally comes out in the next 5 minutes.  again, not really any sincere apologies or anything.

yes the food is amazing here and its my favorite brunch food still.

a side of meat candy that never came out was on the bill.  'umm, can you take this off?  we really never got it.'  JFC, THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE IVE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT EVER.  they didnt charge us for our drinks.  i left a generous two dollar tip.  got home at 2 something.  im not coming back for a few months, maybe you will get 5 stars from me then.

My girl and I came here for breakfast on this rainy Friday morning and were pleased to see such a chic yet comfortable environment to get food before the day started. There was a sizable line for the coffee/pastry crowd and just a few dining in. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like and got our menus soon after. Hunger was taking over but I couldn't decide between a few dishes. Then I saw Beef Brisket...but for breakfast? I say hell yes!

I was so excited when it came out but one glance was all it took to realize there was a short strand of hair on top. I wanted to tell the waiter but I was just sooo hungry. I said eff it, took off the hair, and just devoured it. It almost had the consistency of a stew because of all the cream, runny egg yolks, and beef jus but the flavor of the tender beef was undeniably good. My girl got the breakfast sandwich and just be warned: the yolk goes all over the place if you aren't careful.

I would love to come back on the weekend and try a crab benedict (they have different menus for weekday and weekend breakfast). Only thing I'd suggest to Mission Beach Cafe is to please wear hair nets!

I'll admit. My immediate interest in MBC is because of my fanatical Top Chef tendencies. Surprisingly though, by the time I made it to MBC, Chef Ryan had flown the coop.

Nonetheless, my bff date was lovely. We walked in 15 minutes late for a reservation after having some parking issues. When we finally got there, our table was set and ready.

It has been awhile since we went so I'm not sure of everything we ordered but I recall loving the flatbread, a pappardelle with english peas, and an amazing chocolate blackout cake.

We have a tendency to chat a lot. a lot a lot. like A LOT A LOT. But our server was sweet, unobtrusive, and very willing to let us gab on, uninterrupted, while still seeming to know when we needed something.

Chef Ryan gone or not, I am very pleased with my MBC dining experience. Very comfortably satisfactory.

I feel like this place is one of the best examples of local dining in SF-- small cafe with a very cozy, intimate setting. Although I'm not a SF native, thanks to Yelp, I can pretend I am. :) I came here when it was drizzling outside and it was just perfect. The service was lovely throughout, and so was the food!

- Burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and gouda cheese: very delicious and close to the top of my list (after Yardhouse's pepper-crusted pepperjack). I upgraded the fries to the truffle fries, and WOW they were beyond amazing! I couldn't stop eating them! They are so perfect that I would give MBC a 5 based on it alone (not that I have to, since everything else was yummy too!)

- Souffle pancakes with fruit compote: very delicious as well, especially if you are a souffle-lover. The BF liked this a lot better than I did, and I thought it was very unique since I've never seen souffle pancakes before. The fruit compote and custard (and maple syrup) went perfectly.

- Coffee: the coffee was great too but a little stronger than what I prefer. So for the diehard coffee fans, I'm sure you'll appreciate this one!

I love MBC and I can't wait to come back and try their dinner!

After reading the reviews, I got a burger with truffle fries.  When asked how I wanted it done, I said, "Chef's choice," thinking it would be medium-rare or medium.  Next time I'll just say what I want: it came out very well-done.  Still, it was tasty.  Normally I don't like cheese on my burger, but the aged gouda was delicious.  All the other dishes around us looked good, too.

Service was very upbeat - the waiter made me smile with all his happy energy.

We walk by Mission Beach Cafe at least twice a week and every time we do we make a mental note that we need to stop here. On Friday on our way to Bi-Rite Market we spied a rare moment - empty tables and no lines! Hungry and curious as to why there's almost always a line out the door at this eatery, we stepped in. We didn't have reservations. I highly recommend that you make reservations, we lucked out that just after 6pm on a Friday night we were able to be seated immediately.

The staff is incredibly friendly. You're asked before considering the menu if anyone in the party is vegetarian/vegan. I'm allergic to milk so let our waiter know. He advised me on what menu items are good without dairy sauces. His favorites were the pork chop and snapper. I opted for the pork chop (I'm going to go back for the snapper before the seasonal menu changes). We had the flat bread to start (they served it without the cheese for us) and the crust was crisp to perfection. The pancetta with sour apple flavors were incredible (I wasn't ready for my last bite - I wanted the appetizer to go on and on).

The kitchen initially sent out a pork chop that still had dairy. The staff caught it before I started to eat and quickly had a dairy-free version in front of me. It was worth the wait.

I can't wait to go here for brunch.

I have gotten into the habit of going to MBC about every other weekend for brunch, as I can't keep myself away from their Egg Sandwich (especially when nursing a hangover that only cheese, egg, bacon, english muffin and home fries can appease). For the hair of the dog approach, there is a wide array of deliciously flavored mimosas (pomegranate please), and for the get my day back on track approach, they have delicious lattes.  It doesn't hurt it is only a block away from my apartment either!

The wait is a huge pain, but unavoidable, so you just need to plan ahead and suck it up. If you are planning to go between noon and 2, know that you may be waiting on the corner for up to an hour. At least they are organized about making sure everyone gets seated in a fair manner.

Once inside, the service is fast and friendly, and the brunch menu is totally affordable (delicious breakfast sandwich under $10 and very filling). Things are about as hipster as they get, but even if you are a hater, it is worth sucking it up, looking away from the plaid, and enjoying a delicious brunch here at MBC. You wont be disappointed.

Their burger just made my top 3 for SF. Acme bread is delicious, don't get me wrong. But the potato-pepper bun they use at MBC elevates this burger from alright to omg-when-can-i-come-back? The meat is tender and juicy, the aged gouda cheese and mushrooms just mesh in a euphoria-inducing beautiful harmony of flavor, and both times I've gone, the burger has come out cooked to medium rare perfection. The fries that come along with with the burger are pretty good but trust me and upgrade them to the parmesan truffle-oil fries and you'll be in heaven.

I'm a fan of MBC. This unassuming little corner cafe is a bright beautiful clean airy space during the day that makes it a great place to grab lunch or brunch, any day of the week, and at night, they dim the lights and it magically transforms making it a great date spot. Any place that can rock brunch foods AND do pot pies for dinner is a winner.

The name of this restaurant irritates me.  It seems like it should be on an episode of Saved By The Bell when they all go to the beach, and stop by the Mission Beach Cafe for a milkshake.  Or something.   If anything, this experience has told me not to judge restaurants by their names.  Because, well, this place is pretty great.

It's small, but not too small.  Maybe 20 tables, enough separation between tables to keep conversation at normal volumes. Service was good, temperatures seemed a bit warm.  Decent wine selection for a local place.

Started off w/ the pomegranate and persimmon salad, which was downright excellent as a starter course.  The fruits were fresh and meshed extremely well with the greens and dressing provided.  I honestly could have eaten two or three more plates and been satisfied.

Decided to go veggie and opted for the ricotta/butternut squash ravioli, which was excellent all around.  The sauces and cheese blended really nicely with the pasta (I'm assuming in-house made, but not 100% sure on that)   The rabbit pot pie which I sampled was foodgasm territory, and next time, that is going into my belly as a main course.

Didn't get to try dessert, but next time, will certainly give them a shot.  Overall, greatly impressive food quality for a little place, definitely recommended, despite the generic name.

Mission Beach Cafe is not a place for couples. Pairs. Duos. Besties. Newlyweds. Anything that involves "two."

On Sunday, my roommate and I craved a hearty brunch, and having both salivated over the menu for months, we knew it was time to head over to 14th and Guerrero to try the place out. It's in a can't miss location, emphasized further by the huge crowd of people waiting outside. When we got closer, we saw that it was pretty much all couples. We put our name on the list, saw that there were 10 or so parties in front of us, and hunkered down to wait.

And oh, did we wait.

A number of bigger groups came in after us - groups of 5, groups of 4, even a group of 6  - and they were ALL seated before us. I understand that some tables are made for bigger groups, but it's pretty ridiculous that we wound up waiting an hour and fifteen minutes while other groups only waited ten minutes. And then of course, after we had waited so very long and had finally been given a table, they finally started seating couples at tables made for four.

Why not do that earlier? If we had known that this place caters to groups and not couples, we would have forced our hungover bed-stricken friends to join...we figured having just the two of us would give an advantage.

It's really unfortunate that the seating was so poorly done (not to mention the service was spotty - water refills were hard to get, appetizer and entree served at the same time, bus boy knocking food out of my hand to clear something off the table) because the food is SO DAMN GOOD.

Five stars for our meal. My crab benedict with roasted peppers, hollandaise, and orange reduction was delicious and I liked that they used actual crab meat as opposed to the grated canned stuff that a lot of other brunch places offer. Likewise, my roommate devoured her salmon/spinach/potato pancake dish, particularly complimenting the texture and flavor of the fish. It's all artfully presented to the point that we had diners on both sides pointing to our dishes saying "Ooh, that looks good! What is it?"

I've waited a long time for things. I waited in three hours of traffic to cross the bridge and get home after the Safeway truck spilled. I wait patiently for the next Harry Potter movie each year. And like Mission Beach Cafe, the waits were totally worth it. But in none of the cases, including the brunch, would I ever willingly wait like that again. Unless of course I score a threesome, but I'd probably be celebrating elsewhere if that was the case.

MAMA MIA GOOD.

My tummy is so very happy and delighted to meet you, Mr. Short Rib Hash. And you, too, Mr. Pancake. Don't forget Ms. Mimosa.

What better way to be greeted than "Would you like juice or champagne?" upon arrival. I can totally handle that.

Deliciously fried eggs topped with flavorful shortrib on a Saturday morning is almost too good to be true ($14.50). I paired it of course with a LARGE Mimosa ($12), worth every penny.

OMG, best pancakes ever . . . fluffy, wonderful, and tasty. Just fruit topping, who needs whipped cream and heavy syrup? ($5 for a single)

Make sure you bring an ideal companion who can tolerate for more than an hour. Because you WANT to savor the experience here.

The staff members were too awesome for words. Very nice, helpful, and just darn COOL. You feel comfortable and at ease with their pleasantries.

My friend ordered her hazelnut pumpkin pie and next time I will do the same.

My tummy is too full, but so very happy to meet the Brunch Pack.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND and I would say my #1 top brunch place in SF so far. I wish I knew of this place sooner in life!

Went for brunch and shared the short rib hash and soufflé pancakes. Loved the short rib hash with minimal potatoes and delicious, perfectly braised short ribs. Two fried eggs and horseradish creme fraiche tied it all together.

I address thine holy writ in the Church of Bacon by declaring mine prior failures in executing the sacred rites, for I have come to confess...

Dearest Bacon,

I dare not sprinkle thee o'er every dish.

I doth not sizzle thou slices in the morn.

I doth not wrap mine dogs with you.

(Alas, I am a health eater and am not accustomed to your ways.)

With the sacrament of porky penance I attend Mission Beach Cafe to baptize and cleanse myself of prior bacony sins and eat the salted slivers of the culinary savior where others doth congregate and proclaim thee the best.

Sweetly caramelized in the name of the pepper, you hath filled mine orifice with glories. With poached egg and homemade English muffin you hath lain thyself well upon my palate. Perfectly prepared, you be.

And while I may not attend thee regularly, dearest Bacon, I hope thou doth not attest thyself neglected, for my love for thee shall never falter. And like most Catholics I know, I shall see thee every so often and on Christmas and Easter, and, you know, when I have some free time or something.

Gourmet burger at 9 am? Hell yea!
What more could you ask for?

Even after I was bursting, literally, with food and joy in my tummy, I still couldn't stop salivating over the baked goods. I'm gonna come back for those.

My group of 6 snagged a spot right when it opened. Service is absolutely great. We took our time taking pictures and picking at our last bits of leftovers despite the line outside, but the servers continued to refill our coffees and flatter us as they took photos with us.

For the folks waiting in the rain for half an hour--sorry. But it's so worth it.

Coming here for the first time?

Get the dungeness crab benedict, MBC breakfast burger, and brioche french toast. I assure you--you'll be skipping out the door even with your newly-acquired flappy tummy.

We had reservations here for an early dinner on a rainy Saturday.  The reservation was unnecessary at 6pm because when we walked in, nearly every single table was open.  During our meal, however, people kept coming in and when we left, the place was nearly full.

The servers were friendly and attentive and the atmosphere of the corner restaurant was quite pleasant.  The only negative thing that stood out to me was how close the tables along the wall were to each other.  We could hear everything that was being said at the next table and I even had a hard time squeezing out between the tables to use the restroom and I am not a big girl by any means.

We shared a pomegranate persimmon salad that was full of flavors and textures that all complemented each other well.  That was followed by a tasty vegetarian ravioli and the most delicious pot pie I've ever had in my life.

It was a rabbit pot pie full of tender rabbit meat and some vegetables.  It was one of those things you know is full of butter and is incredibly unhealthy for you, but you don't care one bit as you down one artery-clogging bite after another.  It was rich, but not heavy, and the serving size was large enough that I made it into two meals (and probably could've made it into three if it wasn't so delicious that I was compelled to keep eating long after I was full).

So, if you value your waistline, this is probably not a place to frequent, but it's certainly a great place to get a delicious meal.  Never having tried them, I can't vouch for their breakfasts or brunches, but if those are anything like their dinners, then this place deserves more than the 4 stars I'm giving it.

Mission Beach Cafe, I love you. You're definitely one of the top five things I miss about living in SF.

Although the chefs keep changing, the food remains consistently amazing. Tonight's perfect dinner:
*Dungeness crab flatbread (with large chunks of crab)
*Truffle oil fries (the ONLY way to have fries)
*Grilled rose brined pork chop (SO tender and juicy)
*Pumpkin hazelnut mousse pie (absolutely divine!!)

Mmm... my tummy couldn't be happier.

And Pot Pie Tuesdays are back!! With a choice of rabbit, beef short rib, veggie or seafood pot pies, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Super duper joint.
To-go coffee is sublime.
Cute staff makes it a pleasure.
Great to eat here, too.
Kind of pricey for din din.
Watch out for hipsters on weekends.

I'm not quite sure that I would call this a $$ place ($$.5 -- too bad you can't do half dollar signs!), but the food is amazing and the atmosphere is well worth what you pay.

I went to MBC this past Sunday with a friend. As with any decent brunch place, MBC was packed given that it was 1pm, but as soon as we walked in, Jason, the host, tried to squeeze us in since we were a party of 2. We got our drinks while we waited (all of 5 or 10 minutes), and I was not disappointed by the tangerine-pomegranate mimosa I ordered -- it's half a bottle of champagne, so be warned, do not order the large if you're driving!

The drinks were only the beginning of our brunch adventure. To start we had the veggie quiche, which was properly proportioned for $3, tasted great (probably the 2nd or 3rd best quiche I've had in the city), and got us excited for the rest of our meal. We then had the biscuits with pumpkin sauce -- a bit sweeter than I imagined, but I've never had anything like it. To round out our starters, we also got a pancake with fruit compote, which was one of the few distinctive pancakes I've had out to eat, fluffy but firm, not too salty but not too bland -- just right.

For our entrees, I had the Dungress crab Benedict with red and yellow peppers. This is the dish that won me over and pushed this place to a 5. Basso's has a great crab cake Benedict, but it's nothing like this. The flavors of the sweet peppers with some of the best hollandaise sauce I've had in San Francisco -- not too much lemon, with just the right flavor to make the eggs and crab taste like heaven.

I didn't try my friend's huevos ranchero's (I don't eat pork), but from his gallant attempt at finishing his meal after our many starters, I know he wasn't disappointed.

The best part about every dish was that nothing tasted over spiced; everything we ordered had a very fresh-flavorful quality. We left full and happy. We had great service. It was a great atmosphere. And the food was just lovely. Unless I find a better brunch experience, MBC gets 5 stars hands down.

Mission Beach Cafe is easily one of my favorite places to eat in the city.

Their menu is constantly rotating, seasonal, and inventive.

The ambiance is always warm and upbeat. The servers are consistently grinning, singing along to the catchy music, and are always helpful with ordering recommendations.

The prices are pretty reasonable considering the quality of the food. This is not a cheap spot - but I always feel like I've eaten an exceptional meal when I come here. Also if you're on a budget - just go for the burger and a side of truffle fries. Voila.

Oh and yeah those truffle fries....those things are thin slivers of "ooooohs" and "ahhhhhhhs." They are seriously the bomb.

The location of Mission Beach Cafe is also beautiful. With their big windows - the Mission sun is always beaming in (though you may get too hot on a nice day.)

Their mimosas are almost the size of my head (I have a very tiny head).

And my favorite part of this place....

The desserts. Their desserts are sinfully on point. Their coconut cream pie with fresh whipped cream   - always gets me  - but honestly their entire dessert selection is worth trying. All are fresh and homemade.

If you want to earn big points on a date - take them here.

Trust.

Mission Beach Cafe - can you relocate to Seattle please?

Seriously though, this place is great. I'd suggest planning ahead and getting reservations because it's a really intimate restaurant with room for no more than 50-60 people. (just a guess there.. but it's small!)

The owner of the restaurant was in that night and was checking on tables, making sure people customers were happy and needs were being met. I love when they do that!

The truffle fries were one of the most popular appetizers in our group that night. Among the best I've ever had! The brussel sprouts were also a big hit.

All entrees ordered among the group were amazing. I tasted the pork chop and it melted in my mouth! The roasted chicken was another to-die-for meal.

For dessert I had the chocolate cream pie. What a smart decision! It was so silky and tasty. This is a great spot for groups, dates, or just a quiet dinner with a friend.

Great coffee from Blue Bottle. I had the huevos with ranchero something or other, beans and pulled pork. It was delicious.

Crab Benedict looked and sounded soooo good...but it was only, good.

I don't have anything to complain about, nor do I have anything to rave about.  A friend and I went here for brunch on a Sunday, and were seated in about 5 minutes.  Not bad.  I'm glad I tried Mission Beach Cafe, but probably wouldn't ever have a "I'm soOoo craving.." moment.

The blue bottle coffee..is not as great as the real deal.  Wouldn't order THAT again here.

My brunch was good. They don't have decaf coffee. I still bought a mug. The waiter had a TON of energy. Nice guy, but whoa.

MMM MMM Good!

As the name says, it's a cafe, so small and cozy atmosphere.  Extremely pleasant and friendly waiters, especially our waiter Justin.

The food was to die for!  We started off with pomegranate mimosas and some biscuits with pumpkin gravy.  I ordered the poached eggs and they were scrumptious...although everyone else at the table said the bacon in brown sugar was hands down the best.

I will definitely be coming back to this hidden treasure!

OMFG.  Simply put, this is one of the best brunches in San Francisco.  The pastries are award-winning and all are organic.  The chocolate cookies are rich and gooey - scrumptious!  Goes nicely with a Blue bottle ground and manually filtered latte!   Also, the quiche was the best I've ever eaten.   Only one pre-requisite... you must LOVE butter.

After reading everybodies reviews I decided I better go here on a day when I don't have to wait.  So I picked a Monday afternoon and thankfully we did not have to wait for a table.  Things were off to a rocky start since the sun was glaring right on me and it was hot.  But, when I asked the Waiter to move one of the sun blockers he did without hesitation.  Then we ordered the pumpkin soup but it wasn't done yet, and I guess it never was, not sure what happened.  But after that everything was fabulous.

Both my sis and I ordered the tofu dish which was seasoned perfectly, tasty and very innovative, we loved it.  The veggies were a little hard to cut but we just used our hands.

We also had the souffle pancakes at our table which we was yummy,
BUT what really takes this place over the edge are the pies.

OMG you must get a slice of pie.  I had the chocolate cream pie and it was probably the best pie I've ever had.  I will definitely be back!!!

I have been to lunch here twice in the last week and have to admit I'm in love!  This place is so great.  The food is so fresh and imaginative, I can't believe what a good deal it is.  The staff is friendly and the scene local.

I had the huevos with beans, salsa, chips and pulled pork.  Holy shit.  On the next visit I tried the smoked tofu plate with a starter of butternut squash soup.  The soup was the real stand out.  I recommend going with whatever daily special they tell you about.

Five stars!

Oh so close! The meal could have been fantastic but every dish had something that was slightly off.

The ambiance was good. I liked the setup and even the restrooms were pretty distinct. Service was excellent as well. The manager was very friendly and seated us at the bar while we waited for our table. Told us about the history of the restaurant, a little bit about the chef and his passion for fresh ingredients and his favorite dishes. Great start, expectation were set really high.

They only have wine and beer, but a pretty good selection of both so had some to start with. Had the flatbread and shrimp appetizers. Shrimp was all right, the flatbread had beets on it which did not feel right. The items were good individually but did not taste right together. I was there with a group of good friends, so was able to try multiple dishes...Next up was the burger that had received great reviews. It tasted good except that it had a little too much salt. The pork chop was tough and too dry. The filet mignon was just OK.

Now, let's talk about the dessert. Ordered their signature banana pie and the chocolate pecan pie. The banana pie taste like Gerber baby food. It was mashed banana with some cream. The chocolate pecan was nothing to write home about either. This place has much potential but came up a little short. Too bad, so sad...so much potential!

ummm....like....O-M-G!

Stepped into Mission Beach Cafe for lunch with a few friends and all of us were salivating over the food.  I selected the pulled pork with huevos and mayacoba beans, and I think my stomach nearly fainted over the deliciousness.

It does get busy, so expect to wait awhile. As a bonus, they do serve Blue Bottle coffee and their pomegranate/grapefruit mimosa is gooood.

oh, not a bacon fan...but they're friggin good here

UPDATE!!

We had brunch here with some friends a few weeks ago. And, let me say, a brunch has -never- lived up to the initial dining experience the way -this- brunch lived up to the sweet-baby-jesus-pot-pie-sniff-all-the-dessert-win es-little-steak-orgasms-in-my-mouth dining experience we had back in April.

Firs, the "rock star" mimosas.  Seriously.  When server asks, "regular or rock star?," you say rock star.  Basically ~3 mimosas in one glass.  Classic is fantastic; I had the pomegranate, which was also delicious.

So, here's the thing.  I remember what we all got.  And all of it was orgasmically, astoundingly good.  So I'm just going to list it.

-Souffle pancakes with various fruit & vanilla creme.  The pancakes are amazing; the vanilla creme is homemade heaven.

-Lavender & orange infused brioche french toast with berry compote & vanilla cream.  (I got this; people would not leave it alone.)

-Huevos rancheros.  A group favorite; I think 3 people got this, and the rest of us kept bothering them for tastes.

-Scramble with with asparagus, chard, sunchokes (?) goat cheese, & potatoes

-Dungeness crab benedict with asparagus, onions, hollandaise, orange reduction, & potatoes

So.  That's all I have to say about that. :)
