I don't know what anyone can possibly complain about this place.

A joyous, raucous atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon, complete with bumpin' music, people joyfully dancing, and one of the best bartenders I've had the chance to experience in Brooklyn.

Honestly, this chick (WISH i knew her name) pours 'em like DAMN -- and sassed our alcohol-abstaining cohort without being a bitch. And she threw us a free round at the end, too... love it, love it, love it. Mission "Get Drunk by 5pm on a Sunday" Accomplished.

Great for drinks and dancing period.
don't expect great food, just go for the drinks and the music, that will pay the trip. Also if you are planing to brunch there, think it twice it is CROWDED and LOUD .
Super helpful for the painful transition of  being hangover to buzz again
drinks!!!
oh and no credit cards!
drinks!!

Came here on a Saturday night with no reservation and was seated within 10 minutes by Alain Denneulin (Felix in Soho). This is a typical bar you would find in Rio slums (without the views).

The caipirinhas are very strong-
If you like sweet drinks try the Batida de Passion Fruit (made with condensed milk) or if you prefer something less sweet, try the regular Caipirinha.
The place is lively and plays Forro and Samba and the crowd of Brazilians mixes with more international crowds.

Fun and different experience from other Brazilian restaurants in the city.

It's Cash only and they have an ATM inside.

I am brazilian and I have to say it is hard to get the real taste of brazilian food outside Brazil. But Miss Favela is almost there, the best feijoada I tried in here. The caipirinha is great ( as strong as it should be... sorry caipirinha is not suppose to be "weak"). The party that happens there is typical of Brazil, you can find places like that all over Rio and not only on slums (like I ready in one of the reviews). Make sure you try de "salgadinhos" (ask the waiter and he will help you with that). And make a reservation if you are going Saturday or Sunday afternoon (live music, be ready to dance).

3.5 stars.

I would've ordered more drinks, but I didn't have a lot of cash on me (it's cash-only).  And, I don't trust ATMs that are located inside bathrooms, like they are here.  The filet mignon sandwich was really good.  The fries were standard shoe-string style.  Their hot sauce has a ton of seeds in it and it's wicked hot.  It's directly under the Williamsburg Bridge, so you get a lot of traffic noise.

Intentionally lo-fi, colorful, and lively, Miss Favela is an interesting find and particularly "unique" in its faithful replication of a no-frills Brazilian bar.  The food is tasty and a fitting representation of what classic Brazilian cuisine has to offer, which generally involves salt, beans, and more than your fair share of meat.

Having only visited Miss Favela once, I wonder how much of my experience was tinted by the live music provided by the band Gato Morto, who added major spice to the Saturday "Feijoada" Brunch.  Heavy on percussion, Gato Morto were the centerpiece of the dining experience.  I would definitely return just for a taste of the music.

My only real critique of this restaurant is the price.  Though certainly not excessive by New York standards, any restaurant that charges $6 for every beer offered and tries to market itself as being in the "Favela"-style is a little misleading.  But hey, this is Brooklyn not Brazil, right?  Maybe being broke is making me wish this place was just a touch closer to the real deal...

Warning - This place is not for the light drinker! OR even the intermediate drinker!

The coconut drink I had was so strong the waitress had to bring me a separate cup of coconut juice on the side ( which was super sweet of her)

I wish I hadn't ate at that terrible Bonita before I came here, because everything on the menu made me salivate while reading.

The flan was delicious and the banana cake was ridiculously good. We went here two weeks ago and we were still talking about it the other day.

I can't wait to visit again and try out the Frango a Passarinho!

I have passed this place a number of times on my way to get ink at Adorned, and wanted to see what it was all about.
So last week after looking at a studio to work in down town on canal, I stoped in with my girlfriend, and we are so happy we did.
We got there a little late for brunch, it was about 230ish, the place had two couples with there kids in it, and one man alone and two people at the bar. we were seated and got served two drinks fast, MOJITO is all I have to say. Then we ordered and then the place got packed. Service was fast and the guys were very cool and attentive about our questions. Foods was hot and very tasty, and there home made hot sauce is off the hook, it gave me the hic-ups( only really hot and spicy things do) so i loved it. the place very laid back and cool, just a really cool spot to hang get a few drinks and eat with friends and enjoy an afternoon. Love places like this. And there was some kind of flavored rum they gave us on the house , i think mine was mango, and that was amazing, smooth and warm. yum
just go and stop your goldbricking and give it a try with a few of your friends. and tell the big whiteboy from LI says hello

"The Brazilians are back and more aggro than ever!"
If you know that quote your'e a-ok in my book.

The Brazilians I know are fun, sociable and very friendly. This place gives off the same vibe, yet the food is blah....but I must disclaim, I am a vegetarian, so I can't speak for the meat side, and that' what really takes up the menu. My vegetarian plate was a waste of money and the service was mad slow, but then again, that's expected of any true south- american joint. On a positive note the atmosphere was delightful and the DJ was great...but maybe I'm biased because he was a friend.

I guess I'm one of the few people that had a good time at this place. I went here for a friends birthday party, and the crowd was pretty much all international art students (who were extremely nice and friendly). I didn't try the food, but stuck with Pacifico's and Mojito's all night long. The bartender seemed to like me so she made us some special mojito-like mixed drinks on the house as well (which I can't remember the name of at this point).

The DJ showed up and started playing some Brazilian dance music, which didn't quite compare to Bembe, but it was still got us dancing nonetheless. At the end of the night, the bill wasn't too much (sub $50 per person) and for a hole-in-the-wall Brazilian restaurant it was a fun little place to hang out and get to know a good group of people.

Um...I was willing to flout the yelp gods and give this place a fair shot.  But after I ordered the pao de qiejo (one of my absolute favorite reasons for existing on this earth), and it showed up as archeological quality pieces of cheese rocks instead of cheese poofs (my friend was like, i could build myself a cheese igloo with these things)...and my water came with a floating bug in it....and the entrees were on average priced at $19 for no apparent reason....

I'm headed back to Esperanto.  Poo.

Give me another glass of cachaca, but NOT here....

Great looking, great location, really authentic Brazilian fare and the antithesis of Brazilian hospitality.  Went there a couple weeks back, sat outside under the Williamsburg bridge.  Besides the smell of gas and loud noises of cars passing, it was mildly charming.

Service was horrible, the waiter told us to hurry up and pay the bill for another seating.  And there was no seating.  He just wanted to clear his section early.

I really don't suggest this place.

I am Brazilian and it was good to find authentic Brazilian food in the city.  I also digged the evening acoustic guitar and Brazilian music. I had a good experience both times I  went there, both inside seating and in winter. The localization by the bridge is a bit off but the place is good and I like the "boteco" decor. It would be great if they accepted credit cards.

This place is amazing. After spending a summer in Brazil a few years ago I haven't found anything remotely similar to the food or the ambience that is so pervasive there. Miss Favela nails it.

Go on a Saturday afternoon at 2 when the live music starts and settle in. Order the feijoada, which is only available on Saturdays. It's $21, but two people together will struggle to finish it. It's certainly the best I've had in the states, and better than many I had in Brazil.

The caipirinhas are wonderful. By the time 4 or 5 rolls around and you've downed a few, everyone is up and dancing, the band joins in, and it's like being in Rio. I had to give this place 4 stars instead of 5 because it is overpriced ($8 caipirinhas work in Manhattan, not Williamsburg), but I'll still go back and burn my money, it's definitely worth it.

Wow, Pitu loves himself some Brooklyn and LOVES Bembe enough to keep tagging it in bold apparently. Interesting.  Whatevs. He/She is an idiot. Sorry.

I've been here twice. And yes Pitu, I live in Brooklyn- around the corner in fact and I am not a newbie, sadly enough for me. However, I am also  not  'Puerto Rican, Dominican, Italian and Spanish, French, south American or Caribbean' as you mention and I most definitely  do not go to Bembe and 'dance to beats'...but I digress...

Miss Favela is a sort of wanna-be little Rio in the neighborhood. Now if that is a bad thing or a good thing is for you to decide. Favela is Portuguese slang for an 'undesirable neighborhood'. Why you would name your establishment this, knowing that, is beyond me.  Again, I digress.

Honestly both times I went to MF, the crowd was unremarkable- it was neither atrociously NJ trash/Juicy wearers (as some have mentioned) nor was it filled with ultra cool ethnic- beaty artisan Manhattan-haters from Brooklyn (as Pitu mentions). I will say that the music was way too f*cking* loud for  a Sunday at 5pm for cocktails and convo and the DJ was really annoying and invading our space.

That being said, I neither hated it or loved it.  The long braid- headed bartender was nice enough. Caprihinas were  good and strong.  I didn't eat more than some chicken bit appetizer, which was fine but unmemorable. The food coming out around me looked interesting, but not compelling.

To put it in perspective for the discerning, quality seeking, drinking/culinary enthusiast....in my opinion, Miss Favela is on the same level as Radegast Beer Garden down the street; themed and gimmicky. If  you want quality, stick to Marlow and Dressler,  but if you want light entertainment, a tropical drink and your hair blown out for free by way of the many ceiling fans placed EVERYWHERE in this place.... then check out Miss Favela.

Without the good music played on week end nights, this place would fall apart. The food is forgettable and drinks while decent aren't out of this world.
What's hard for Miss Favela is that it opened next to Bembe where drinks and ambiance are always authentic.
I give it 3 stars for the music but don't know if I would go back for food, service and drinks

WOOHOO! I'M SO PSYCHED THAT I GET TO REVIEW THIS FIRST!!! Miss Favela is a dream come true. I love love love Brazilian fare (I live in Brazil part of the year) and and its rare to find such authenticity in New York City, much less, Williamsburg?? But that's cool, cuz I live right around the corner. This spot just opened up this week, I was there opening night and went back again last night cuz I just couldn't get enough!

The costela (bbq ribs) are falling off the bone delicious, and the picanha (sirloin) is sizzling and succulent. The bobo de camarao (a yummy shrimp sauce dish) is as close to real as it gets.  All the sides: couve (collard greens), yucca (same in english), feijao (black beans), linguica (sausage), and camarao olho de alho (shrimp in garlic and oil) are bangin....BANGIN!!!!

The salads are refreshing and light, nothing spectacular, but just what you need on a hot, New York night. And the decor is much like a restaurant that I often go to in my neighborhood in Brazil--vibrant, kinda rustic, and fun! The music is loud and lively, and people although sandwiched together at times, are up and dancing in between bites (much like in Brazil). I love this place.

The only thing that needs work is the caipirinha. I was so unhappy on several tries and someone just needs to let that fine little hipster bartender know that cute he is, but caipirinha specialist he is NOT. Tell him to add more sugar and more lime and to grind it up rough like he does every night with his lover. Then you'll have a decent caipirinha to go along with this fantastic dining experience! And then, maybe you could bump the rating up to five stars!

Afterwards you can shake yer little ass to samba down the street at Bembe which is right around the corner. Hell, that's what I did!

This place is a total shit show. Through and through.

I went two times to give it a shot because I really enjoyed the decor and on a summer afternoon, the breeze blowing through the open doors was so appealing.

I don't really know where to start. I guess I'll just begin with the crowd.
Somehow, I don't know how, this restaurant within a week of being open has attracted the most oppressive annoying jersey/sex in the city trash I've ever come across. Squawking females with blown out hair and greasy beefy boys , I swear I thought I was in the meatpacking district on a friday night waiting to get into Lotus.

Next to me at the bar, was one of these couples who for a good 45 minutes were sucking SO MUCH TONGUE in my face I nearly barfed, but I didn't because I didn't get a chance to eat there.

First we ordered some Caparinhas, and within the first taste something was terribly off. I dont' expect fine liquor to be used in the drink since it's most lime and sugar, but everyone sort of spit up their drinks in their napkins and realized the lazy bartender hadn't squeezed or muddled ANY of the limes, so we all spent a few minutes fishing out all the lime pieces and hand squeezing them ourselves. HIGHLY annoying....

The noise of the crowd was so loud and the waiter kept saying another 20 minutes (we were there 90 minutes waiting) finally we left and went to Marlow and Sons

Stupidly I went back to try it again on a less crowded evening. Equally as cheesy crowd, the limes were again not crushed, and this time I had the food.

Bland, unseasoned dreck. I found a hair in my food. While I've never been to Brazil if someone says I don't "get it" and it's "super authentic" than I don't want to try to "real stuff" but I sure have had wondeful brazilian dining experiences in the past.

This place makes me mad on so many levels I don't know how to express that enough.

If I could throw eggs at it I would!

AVOID THIS PLACE and leave it to the douchebags that don't care about the food and just want to suck face

I love this place but only on Friday nights when DJ Concerned is DJ-ing. He is the only thing happening there lately. Sometimes they have Tha-Itch, another great DJ.
Do not go there for the food. It is not at all comparable to other Brazilian places in the city. The drinks can all be 1 dollar cheaper too.

After reading a bunch of Yelp reviews before checking this place out, I was really not expecting much.  I heard the striped-shirt-blown-out-hair-brigade were going to be in full effect so I tried to prepare myself.  To my surprise, the crowd seemed really mixed with a bunch of people from Williamsburg filling up most of the tables.

When you shut your eyes, it's almost as if you're not in Williamsburg at all.  I couldn't quite figure out if this was a good or bad thing.  The music was so incredibly loud that it was hard for everyone at our table to hear each other.

On the positive side, we were told at 9:30 on a Saturday that it would be a 40 minute wait and as we stood outside talking about where we might try instead, they called our name.  40 minutes turned into about 3.  Our server was helpful and relatively attentive until it came to that dreaded part of the evening where the check is desired by the diners and the server has gotten caught up with his other tables.  We sat for about 15 minutes or so waiting for our check, but since we were visiting with a friend, it was okay.

I wasn't overly impressed with the food.  Especially the prices.  Upon the recommendation of the waiter, I tried one of the shrimp dishes and the flavors were good and the portion was totally fair.  It didn't wow me though.  I wasn't even sure if I was in the mood to be wowed.

Everyone left feeling relatively satisfied and seeking a quieter spot for after dinner drinks.  I wouldn't be opposed to trying it again.

I knew the crowd was f****d up when I tried this place and I knew it was related to Felix, I just didn't put the two together.

I too witnessed freshly blown-out hair wearing Juicy sweatpants and it wasn't a joke.  The guy wore really nice striped shirt, even though he wasn't in "the city".

The drinks were strong when I went but I'm sure they will get weaker as the months go on.  This isn't fair for a Brazilian place, but we only had vegetarian items so I can't judge the food.  The fish did not smell fresh.

This is a poorly written review, to be continued.

This place feels like it belongs in the neighborhood. The service is relaxed, yet attentive. The food is delicious and the whole vibe just screams laid-back. Interior is adorned with green and yellow paint. It really is reminiscent of a real botequim in one of Rio's favelas. This place is my favorite and I've been there once.

I came here on a Sunday for brunch with my parents. A Fado band came around noon and played till we left, which was great. I like the decor and it has a very airy feeling. Not sure if I'd want to go in the winter though.. The food is reasonable and simple. My rommates have eaten here and complain that the food is overpriced for how basic it is (As in, $20 for a shrimp salad  that is literally plain shrimp on a bed of lettuce).

Alright people, Miss Favela is back in the running as the best Brazilian place all around.  They hired a new chef and the food was DELICIOUS!  I was there for 6 hours yesterday - live samba band will do that to you - and had coxinhas, feijoada and picanha.  All amazing.  The mango caipirinhas were out of this world and the ambiance was great.  I might have to become a regular...

the place was highly recommended to us so we went...the atmosphere was really nice...food is good.... price...well as usual average I would say...but i think I had the strongest caipirinia ever in my life...when I mentioned to the bartender he said to me that is caipirinia!!! so I reply: I was born and raised in the border with Brazil and I do know how caipirinia is like (which is true)..and this is undrinkable...he took them back and he brought us another two caipirinias which was basically water and sugar...we couldn't drink it either of course... and took me two days to recover my stomach...
we are not coming back to Miss Fabela...

all i'm sayin is:

1) the cheese bread tasted so bad i had to spit it out into my napkin

2)the lettuce was rotten and brown in the hearts of palm salad

3) there was hair in the chicken cube appetizer

on the other hand, the caparinha was delicious. and, once these issues were pointed out, we paid nothing for the whole meal and the waiter was quite apologetic about it. so at least, service was good!

take what you will from my experience

this is the least authentic brazilian restaurant i have ever been too. i am not brazilian, but love the country's food. my friends who ARE brazilian agree & will never return. it's loud & it's brooklyn, but it's not truly brazilian. maybe someone in the kitchen knows how to spell Brazil or find it on a map, but they have NO clue how to cook. the sound system is horrible - they play the music so loud you can hear it from 2 blocks away and you can't hear anyone while you are in the bar. the drinks are badly made - limes never muddled in capirinhas or mojitos, proportions out of whack - like someone who has never tasted liquor was bartending. one of my friends had to spit out his drink out on the street b/c it tasted like sea water. it was supposed to be a margarita. normally a strong drink is appealing, but not here. it tastes like cheap crappy booze that they are trying to unload. the food is tasteless, dry, old & really over priced. i would honestly send you to McDonalds before i steered you to this hell hole. it's a lot of bridge & tunnel people trying to let lose & they get all excited because they are in brooklyn - so exotic! the patrons yell, get too drunk and bump into each other & break glasses in the street trying to show off & drunkenly gyrate to uninspired DJs blasting "music" with waaaay too much bass. some authentic brazilian music would be amazing. you won't find any here. consider somewhere else, anywhere, before you come here. you will spend too much money and feel cheated. you aren't missing out. don't say i didn't warn you.

man...the reviews were all over the place, both sides of the spectrum. i was afraid to go there. but i did go, and what a treat. the bartenders and waiters were just super nice. i had one of my favorite brazilian beers, devassa, which u can only get in Rio (it's a microbrew). coxinhas to start (chicken croquettes) and the carne seca com mandioca (sundried meat with yuca). awesome!!! my friends tried the bobo de camarao and the camarao a baiana (both shrimp dishes). they are both very traditional brazilian dishes. The bobo was better, but neither was really as good as the stuff back home...HOWEVER, I got the peixada (fish stew), and this one was amazing. really tasted like the peixada my mom used to make. the rice and beans were great as well. I had a guarana too and a pudim de leite (flan). killed my craving for brazilian food, in a place that is very cool, unpretentious. it is a bit on the pricey side though for how much food u get. i'd recomend it. cant wait to go for feijoada saturdays! caipirinhas were good as well!
