One word: Great!
:)
I love this place. They have great comfort food, cricket on TV and free internet. The staff is super friendly and they even participate actively in the community schools.
The veggie wrap and fries are the bomb.
This place is one of the finest Desi or South Asian restaurants you'll find here in the bay area. Their menu has a lot of Pakistani food with a blend of American and Italian dishes as well. Its a very clean place and with good service. My recent favorite is Paratha Roll with Chicken Seekh Kabab but I have been a big fan of Chicken Shashlaik as well. I enjoy their Mango shake and Strawberry Daiquiri too along with the other drinks they make.
Awesome pizza here! I've been wanting to try this place for sometime, but could never quite convince my husband that "chicken tikka masala pizza" was a good idea. Finally, last night, we couldn't quite decide between indian food, mexican food, and some other random fast food like pizza, so he agreed to go here with me...glad he did too since he loved the pizza as well. Since I was jonesing for spicy food, I even asked them to add green chiles to the already kinda spicy chicken tikka pizza, and it totally hit the spot!
Much like many sandwich places ignore the importance of bread, many pizza places ignore the importance of a good crust. I've been scouring the Fremont area looking for a nice good thin-crust pizza and have not found one until I saw this place. Usually most places here have the typical fast-food american pizza crust that's way too thick and not flavorful enough. The crust I had here rivals that of "nicer" pizza places like CPK, Amici's, or Pizza Antica. So glad I don't have to go to the south bay or SF anymore!
I was gonna give it 4 stars for excellent pizza in general, but the 5th star just comes from their overall creativity. I can't wait to try their other "fusion" items such as the seekh kabob pizza and the spicy aloo tikki burger. It would also be nice to try a more italian-style pizza since I've finally found a thin-pizza winner near my house.
Definitely come here w/ an open mind and give this place a try!
Cute little place, very small and cozy! The food was great as was the service! We stayed in there until closing time pretty much, well after we'd finished our meal and they didn't say a word to us! =)
Definitely want to go back to try some of their other dishes..
I'm not sure it gets thats much attention because it is pretty hidden, but I'm sure the people that find it, love the atmosphere just as much as the food.
The prospect of eating at Mirchi is what I look forward to most when I travel to Fremont to visit the shared gene pool. It's the only restaurant where I've come close to being a regular. It's the equivalent of Saved by the Bell's "The Max" for me. Wait...did I just write that in a public forum?
Concept is key at this reasonably-priced Desi-fusion restaurant. Entrees such as the Chicken Tikka Pizza, Chicken and Veggie Wraps, Mango Chicken, and Aloo Burger are robustly flavored without being greasy. Even American standbys such as milkshakes are better executed here than at your usual fast-food joints (provocative statement, I know).
The restaurant has a homey feel, with cricket bats slung up on the walls, and a plasma screen showing dance scenes from the latest Bollywood flix. My friends and I have spent hours chatting over our meals without the staff raising the slightest hitch.
Check it out 1-2 and spread the word about Fremont's diamond in the rough.
Comfort food with a twist as it's pitched on the home page of this Fremont restaurant. The menu is filled with familiar dishes such as club sandwich, hamburger and pizza but you'll also notice accompanying terms such as sheezan, lahori and masala which are not usually found on the same menu. This "Indo-Pak Fusion" restaurant marries common favorites with distinct flavors from India and Pakistan to provide a unique dining experience. The food is so different and good that you'll want to try everything on the menu.
As a starter we ordered the Aloo Mutter Pocket which were three crispy dough pockets stuffed with potato, peas and spices served with mint chutney for dipping.
I had the Lahori Burger, which, as another reviewer mentioned, was so full of flavor that it didn't need any condiments. It's slightly spicy and had a distinct Indian flare to it. Along with the burger comes parmesan dusted fries and coleslaw. The fries were nice and crispy but lacked a lot of flavor. This was nothing a bit of salt couldn't fix but I still would have liked something with a bit more of an Indian kick to it. The coleslaw was also kind of bland but had a bit of a spicy finish. I would have preferred more of an indian twist on the slaw as well. A bit of cucumber in the slaw to compliment the spice of the burger would have been nice.
The Sheezan Club that my girlfriend had was as good as the burger. I know this because we had negotiated a half-for-half swap before our meals came, giving us a chance to try both dishes. The club was a double decker containing chicken tikka, fried egg, lettuce and tomato. Along with the sandwich you'll get fries and slaw.
One last thing that I almost forgot to mention is that the mango lassi is one of the best in the business. Sweet, flavorful and nice and thick. It's an excellent compliment to any of Mirchi's dishes.
In all it was an excellent experience at this casual little restaurant. The service was friendly, the food was excellent and the menu is filled with other interesting items that will keep me coming back.
I can't seem to order anything other than their Spaghetti with marinara and garlic bread - Spices of india in there and I so want the recipe. My mom always orders the veggie wrap. Great people that work there too.
My wife and I go out to Mirchi Cafe at least once a week so we have been there loads of times.
I am not sure if everyone will find their food as amazing as we do. I have a particular affinity for their food since it is the only place in the USA which serves Pakistani style (or Lahori to be more specific) fast food. When I first read their menu and saw the words "Shezan Club Sandwich", "Punjabi Chicken Burger", or "Lahori Beef Burger" I wanted to jump with joy (instead I managed to stay calm, ordered all the items listed above and pretended that I had guests waiting at home, of course I was lying - I had been in CA for only 2 days, was living by myself and didn't know a single soul - but sorry I digress).
I think all these 3 items are the best ones on their menu (ok these are the only ones I usually have). Actually I did try their chinese menu a couple of times and it is extremely good too. The "Chicken Shashlik" is very close to what it is like back home. A friend of ours tried their "Gobi Manchurian" and they really liked it.
Although I haven't tried their "Chicken Broast", it does look very nice. I might update the review once I have tried that.
Last but not least, did I mention their chocolate brownie????? THE BEST chocolate brownie I have EVER had and trust me I have had PLENTY! Somehow they have perfected the art of making brownies and they are PERFECT (crusty on the outside and perfectly gooey on the inside). I have lived in a lot of cities in the US, so I have visited a lot of restaurants (not to mention all the generic chains - regional or national) and I have yet to come across a chocolate brownie that is this good and fresh (it's almost as if they have just taken it out of the oven).
As a previous reviewer mentioned this truly is a hidden gem and their menu seems to have loads of other little treasures that we haven't explored yet (the steak, italian dishes and pizza etc).
A note on the service. Don't expect to be greeted with a bundle of smiles (and that is the only negative I can think of). Otherwise the staff is extremely polite, efficient, they never mess up an order, food is always on time (no matter how busy the place is).
Finally, the decor is quite unique and creative. Being from lahore I personally love to see the various pictures of my hometown on the walls. Besides the restaurants back home have a very similar look and feel so it does remind me of going out to restaurants etc. with my friends back home (in simpler times and in another life).
This is one of Fremont's hidden treasures- literally!!! Tucked away in one of Fremont's many unmemorable strip malls, behind 24 Hour Fitness, lies this little gem of a cafe (a perfect blend of east meets west, classic Americana with a Pakistani flair, with a touch of European charm).
They have a great menu- with all the standard diner fare (burgers, pizza, sanwiches) however, all of them are completely unique and original, for example, the Punjabi chicken burger, which is excellent quality chicken that is ground with red chilis and garlic (yum!!!) and the chicken tikka masala pizza (absolutely delicious). The appetizers are all great, especially the aloo tikki. All in all, everything here is pretty simple, pretty home-style, and VERY tasty. Mirchi Cafe is definetely one of my new favorite places for lunch, coffee or an evening snack in Fremont.
Give this place your business! They are worth it!!!! :)
An interesting fusion of east-west mix (italian, chinese &indian/pakistani) dishes under one roof. The burgers, chinese, wraps and pizzas are consistantly delicious. The decor is unique too, lots of cool black and white photos on the wall and plasma screen with non stop cricket action.
I recently visited Mirchi Cafe with a few friends, none of which had ever had Indian/Chinese/Italian fusion. We ordered several dishes and shared them between the three of us. My chicken tikka masala pizza was the biggest hit and the leftovers I brought home were enjoyed by my hubby, too. I would definitely return, although I would ask for extra sauce on the masala pizza. The dough was great and the toppings were tasty, but it could have used a bit more masala flavor in my book. With that said, everyone else thought it was perfect.
I also liked how many veggie options they had. And the mango lassi was delicious. Good prices, too.
Mirchi is always a good place to go when craving some indian italian fusion. Their Pizza is bomb and I love the pasta. They have great service and I will keep going as much as I can.
The Lahori burger was excellent! The spice level was lovely, the burger was cooked just right, and I just thoroughly enjoyed it. The slaw (with peanuts) was okay (I'm not a slaw fan) and the fries were all right. My husband got the eggplant Jaadu and liked it. The chicken rolls--well, I don't know what these are supposed to be like, so I have no idea how well they were done, but they tasted fantastic. The filling was just delicious. They looked dry and not so good, but when we bit in they were excellent. The sign advises they're available on weekends and for takeout--I can see popping in for just a bag of these, haha.
On a return visit we also tried the cardmom lassi. Mmm, that's really good! We've had different flavors of lassis and that's a really good variation.
The service was very friendly. They don't close between lunch and dinner, and the place was pretty lively when we came in at 2:15 PM on a Saturday. Recommended and we'll be back!
This is a great place to eat. I love their Lahori burger, it's delicious! It's a small place and sometimes you have to bunch together but it's worth it. Their prices aren't bad, they have good food and good service. You do have to be patient when it's busy. They're constantly running around trying to get to all the tables but they do a good job.
the place is small but the food makes up for its size! we usually get the lahori burger or the tandoori chicken pizza which rocks! who knew cilantro on pizza would taste so awesome!
Mirchi is definitely hit or miss as others have mentioned. The Calzone is pretty good. The beef steak sandwich is good. The Seekh Kabab pizza is good (and spicy). The spaghetti with meatballs is not so good (only get 2 meatballs usually) and the burger is okay. Try the nescafe drink or strawberry daqiri (non-alcoholic of course:))!
Mirchi is an adorable little place that I (as usual) discovered on Yelp.
The service was not super attentive but was pleasant. The server was very helpful in suggesting entrees as well as describing exactly what was in what.
We went on a Saturday night at about 9:00 - and they said they didn't have dessert! :( Nor did they give us this bread that you all speak of. But otherwise, my chicken tikka pizza (chicken, tomato sauce, peppers, onions, cilantro) was decent and inexpensive ($8). My friend ordered a chicken dish with bismati rice that was also good.
And above all, get a lassi! I had the sweet lassi and my friends had the mango lassi - soo creamy and perfect. Yum.
I've been a here a few times and the most recent we mistakenly ordered the Aloo Tiki Burger thinking it was beef (I know, what were we thinking!). It was actually quite good, perfectly fried with good spiciness. I tried adding sriracha on the burger and found it to be a great combination. Needless to say, I dipped the fries in sriracha as well!
I also enjoyed the Morrocan mint tea, but I believe you can find it commercially.
4 stars for originality.
Like their pizzas. Usually, do a take out. Occasional sit down. Either way, very friendly people. Introduced a few others to this place (and it is a hidden gem), and all of them are now regulars.
We tend to order their fusion pizzas, which is a big hit in the office. Never disappoints. Which speaks volumes about the translation of Indo-Pak-Italian cuisine to a culturally and racially diverse office staff.
A nice mom and pop to have in the corporate city of Fremont. Too bad Lucia's closed, but their tradition continues here.
Good burgers & sandwiches. Friendly service. Mixed drinks (all non-alcoholic) are good. Not the largest restaurant so call ahead if you are planning for a group. I like the Club Sandwich (chicken & egg!), Lahori Cheese Burger & Mango Margarita. I hear they have good desserts but usually only find creme brulee (not bad) available when I show up.
based on helen's recommendation, i decided to check this place out, although, any sandwich with a fried egg in it would probably have drawn me in. i got the sheezan club. next time, i will request no mayo but other than that, it was really tasty. the chicken was not too thick and perfectly cooked so it made for easy eating.
Are you sure Indian & Italian will mix well in my tummy? The answer from Mirchi is yes!
The food is light American international fare all infused with a tinge of Indian-Pakistani flavors. It's a small, dark restaurant on the back end of a sad looking strip mall that has photos of things related to India-Pakistan and cricket on the walls. They do indeed play cricket on the telly (answered my question if there was something more boring than baseball). We got the small Chicken Tikka (this one had a bit of kick in the sauce) and Seekh Kabab pizzas, their house salad (mixed greens with tomatoes, red onions, chickpeas, and cucumbers drizzled with their house vinaigrette), and spicy chicken wings (a bit of kick here, too) with ranch sauce. I was full after having the house salad & my mango lassi. They serve sandwiches + fries, wraps + salads, pasta, and what they call "deli style chinese." Side note: what are chicken fire balls? Portions are biggie and prizes are cheap = yay!
Thanks for the tip, Fremont Yelpers!
UPDATE 9/5/07
Hit this place two more times since then (which is record for me since I don't like dining in Fremont as it is) and have walked away satisfied each time. The eclectic mix of food always seems to appease everyone in my dining party. They also have yummy milkshakes!
I could have never imagined fusion of Indian with italian could taste so good.
The reason for 4 stars is because most of their dishes have very small quantity of meat.
Definitely worth a visit.
this restaurant is in such an obscure location, but it is great!! i have seen the restaurant for many yrs since i work out at the 24 hr fitness right next to it. after reading all the reviews on yelp, i finally decided to try it, and i was not disappointed. everything here is halal, and i ordered the sheezan club (chicken, fried egg, instead of bacon, lettuce, and tomato on toasted bread) which came w/ cole slaw and fries for $6.50. the fried egg provides a special touch to the sandwich. we also got the medium chicken tikka pizza, which was really delicious and make for great leftovers. my brother also likes the lahori burger here. this is going to be my new go-to place for take out.
the restaurant itself is small and cute, and there is a lot of cricket paraphernalia on the walls. when i picked up my food, the owner was watching a cricket match, so this place is kinda like a south asian sports bar!
So restaurants and cafes in Fremont that aren't owned by a giant corporation are hard to come by, so as the result of good reviews of Yelpers, I checked out this place. And I totally like this place; it's quaint.
First off, though, this place is kind of tough to find, because it doesn't face Fremont Blvd - it's inside a strip mall, and directly across from it is, of all things, a 24-hour Fitness.
Once you find it though, there's a lot of things going for it that'll probably have me coming back: the decor (think sports bar, and then replace all the sports with cricket) and the twists on food that you see at Chilis or TGI Friday's - I had the Lahori burger, which contains a "ground beef patty mixed with onions, chilies and Mirchi Masala." Basically, a spicy burger. But because I love spices, I'm all about it. That being said, while the food is good, it's more clever. That make any sense? Hopefully it does.
A lot of people are saying "Fusion," and I guess it is. Fusions sounds a little pretentious though, so I guess I would call this "Sports Bar Fusion." If that makes any sense at all.
Overall, good casual place. I'd go again.
I had the Gobi Manchurian, the battered cauliflower deep-fried and sauted in a spicy sauce, served with basmati rice---nice texture, reminding almost of that of a piccata, and a bit more kick in the sauce than I was expecting, but pleasantly so. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes, hopefully dessert next time as well. a shame the restaurant's not easily spotted from Fremont Blvd.
I had finally tried this place on the referrals of the cool yelpers of my area, and once again was not led astray. Crazy location because it's at the end of an old school strip mall that runs perpendicular to the main street which is Fremont Blvd. So i never would have known it was there.
The menu is eclectic with Italian, Chinese and American dishes with an Indo/Pak fusion twist. WTF, i first thought, and through past experiences, was real skeptical, but i had trust in my fellow yelpers. Met my old childhood friend for lunch and we both are back on our work-out schedules, so we can put down some food. We ordered 4 items and told them to bring them out whenever, cause we were on a schedule. The chicken tikka club was good, a traditional looking club except the chicken breast was marinated and grilled and had Indo/Pak flavors. Also instead of bacon, cause their culture restricts pork, the second layer of the sandwich was a fried scrambled egg. Interesting i thought, but it did add the "fatty" level of the sandwich which subbed in for the bacon. I ordered the ginger beef with basmati rice and it was superb, it was something i would cook for myself @ home. Beef was a little chewy, but I don't mind that, and the sauce was tomato-y with strips of onions and peppers and a very nice ginger flavor. They asked me if i wanted it spicy, not knowing it was an option, i decided to give it a go. Note to self: if someone of another culture whose cuisine is inherently spicy ie... Mexican, Hunan, Indian etc... ask if "would you like it spicy" and you agree, then you have just committed yourself on a trip to sweatsville. It was good but I used several napkins to dry my beading face as I finished my dish. Oh, and the perfectly fluffy white basmati rice, can't say enough how well it complemented the sauce. My buddy had the Lahori Burger and was thrilled that the beef patty had flavor throughout, another Indo/Pak flavor fusion. Our only semi miss was the seekh kabob pizza, good crust and cheese but all the other flavors seemed muted, and this was the only dish we wrapped up to-go.
I sipped on a mango lassi with my meal and boy, o boy was this a treat. A smooth but airy milkshake thang, though im sure they use yogurt instead of ice cream, and a ripe full mango flavor. I'm surprised it took me this long to discover this food and drink but sometimes the good things take a while, and Mirchi cafe is one of those good things. Thanx to my friends on Yelp.
My hubby was kind enough to pick up some dinner from here after I read all the great reviews I had to try it. It's Ital-American & Indo-Pakistani food.
We got the Chicken tikka pizza (small) $8.99. Since I had to reheat it the chicken was a bit dry but had some flavors, small amount of cheese, small amount of sauce, some green bell peppers on the top too. I thought it was good, plus since I was at home added more toppings to it. It's cut into 8 small slices and good enough for maybe 3 ppl.
He also got me the house-made Ginger-lime coconut cake $3.50-which was really tasty. Moist cake w/ lime filling, I didn't taste the ginger. White buttercream frosting w/ flakes of coconut all on top. Recommended.
Since it was take-out his total was $13.58 and they take credit cards.
We'll have to eat at their restaurant and try: the Lahori burger $5.99; Omelette sandwich $5.99; Sheezan club $6.50; Punjabi chicken burger, lots of other stuff too.
check out my pics.
They have a wide-ranging menu. The chiken tikka calzoni was good but lacked memorable flavors.
Mirchi is really a find. It's got a diverse mix of cuisines that includes burgers, pizza, pasta, Desi Chinese, Indian, Pakistani.
I'm normally a burger purist, but the Lahori Burger is really good. The spices add so much flavor you won't even need to add any condiments to it.
One of their specialties is a Broasted Chicken that takes 20 minutes to make, but it's also excellent. Pizza is good, Desi Chinese dishes are good. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's the kind of restaurant where you could really order a different thing every time and be satisfied knowing that whatever you order will be good.
***UPDATE 2/16***
It was super busy this Friday night and service was a little erratic. Not for us, but for the couple who sat down next to us at the same time. We got our food and were finished before they even got their entrees. I felt bad for them, but if that was me, I would have flagged someone down and found out what the hell was going on.
Had the New York Steak, a good-sized slab of Harris Ranch beef. I ordered it medium rare (as everyone should!) and it was really good. Juicy and cooked perfectly, it didn't need the A1 they put down at the table. Also, the fries are really good. Not sure how they cook them because they are crispy and not oily. My wife had the Indian Omelette Sandwich, which is becoming her favorite thing to order. It's basically a spicy omelette on a French roll and it's delicious.
Talk about an eclectic menu. Mozzarella Sticks next to Aloo Tikki. Eggplant sandwich next to Punjabi Chicken Burger. Desi Chinese and Pasta. How could I not try this place? It was just too wacky not to give it a go.
My co-worker lives in Fremont and he had no idea this place existed. It's tucked way in the back of an old strip mall. The cafe has an Italian flare to it's layout but the decorations otherwise are filled with Pakistani memorabilia. They also have a large flat screen TV that was showing a cricket match at the time.
I'm always looking for good Pakistani and even though this isn't quite as straightforward as I'm used to, I'm glad I gave it a try because there's tons of things I'll sample now. We started off the chili cheese fries, a tomato sauce based meatless chili with some interesting spice blends. With melted cheddar cheese atop a mound of crisp thin fries, this was a hearty start. We also split a medium seekh kabob pizza. The kabob was broken up the way Italian sausage is often crumbled, with fresh tomatoes, onions and a tangy sauce. The kabobs had a slight kick but not nearly as spicy as I was expecting, but it did save my co-worker some grief. The crust was also a very light, thin, and crispy; keeping the pizza from being too heavy. I don't tend to salt my foods but I thought the seekh kabob meat could have used a bit more salt (I think I'm just more used to eating the kabobs without a tomato sauce) so I added some dashes of Parmesan as a remedy.
Overall a great little place, albeit the lousy location. Looking forward to trying some of the other crazy items on the menu for future lunches.
I am in love with Mirchi's cold coffee. Like, in love, in love. I think they recently changed its name to "Indian Style Blended Coffee" or something like that, but the taste is the same. Most of the time, anyways.
Oh, they have food too, which is good for the most part. Mirchi's has a pretty extensive menu with 'fusion'dishes. Some are Italian-style while other dishes are sort of Chinese, while a few are just American dishes with desi influences. Their Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza used to be my dish of choice, but the taste has changed recently. Anyways, no worries, there are still plenty of dishes to choose from. I prefer the Chicken Wrap these days, mostly because I know I like it and I fear change.
They also have a lot of drinks available, from different types of coffee, to shakes, to non-alcoholic drinks like margaritas.
All in all, I like Mirchi's and I'm grateful that it's in Fremont, which makes it convenient for me to get my Cold Coffee whenever I please.
Mmmm. . .Cold Coffee.
It was just ok.
The sandwich needed more meat; there was more fries than sandwich.
The pizza was good but not 'wow'.
Mango lassi came in a large tall cup, taste great.
Nice place though hard to find (meaning tucked away behind 24 Hour Fitness) with a very pleasant decor and kind service. I had the aloo tikki (not the burger, though I'm sure that's good too) and really enjoyed it.
Like many other reviewers... I agree, you have to avoid the MSG.
The broast chicken which was good but a little on the dry side for me. The masala fries in the starter section is good. Courteous and friendly staff. Decent price and a good place to eat a different kind of Pakistani/Indian food.
Will go there again to try some other stuff
We would have never found this place if it weren't for yelp. We don't really go to that side of Fremont. We became really interested in the place when we saw online that they have a vegetarian menu.
I got a pizza with paneer (cheese) and their creamy masala sauce. Not enough sauce and the cheese was supposed to be marinated and grilled; it was grilled but didn't taste marinated what so ever. It was good enough to eat half the pizza and take the rest home though.
The boyfriend had the spicy aloo burger that some reviewers raved about. He said it was a different flavor than he expected but it was pretty good nonetheless. Unfortunately, the burger fell apart on him so it was kinda messy.
The decorations were interesting to look at and I really liked that they had cricket on tv. It's an interesting sport that I don't get to watch often. If we're in the area, we might go back again but they really didn't have too many vegetarian dishes to offer us.
I ordered take out for the first time from here the other day, and the food was hit or miss.
The seekh kabab calzone was good, and tasted even better as leftovers the next day. It was huge, so I could only finish half at a time. The mango lassi I got to accompany the calzone was yumm-o.
The chicken tikka pizza was also pretty good (generous cilantro usage is a huge plus for me) but would have benefitted greatly from a higher masala sauce content.
I was not impressed with the chili chicken. Although the gravy was very good, it seemed like the actual chicken pieces had not absorbed its flavors, and therefore they were bland. The noodles were okay-to-good, if a bit greasy.
The cheese fries were also a disappointment. I guess it was my fault for not reading the menu closely enough, as I thought the fries would be smothered in melted cheese rather than dusted with a weird cheese powder. Even then, it seemed like they had forgotten to add salt to the fries.
All in all, I'll probably go back to try some of the other stuff sometime cuz it looks interesting, but I won't be in a huge hurry to do so.
I tried Mirchi Cafe with some friends who were from out-of-town and wanted to get some interesting Halal food. Mirchi Cafe certainly provides interesting food for different tastes, as the menu is an ecclectic mix of Italian, American, Desi-style Chinese, and traditional Desi. It took a while to decide what to get- Mango Chicken, burgers, pizza, steak?
I finally decided to get one of their specialities- the Mirchi broasted fried chicken. The chicken takes 20 minutes to prepare so we whiled away the time with good conversation and an order of the hot wings. The hot wings weren't anything special- spicy and served with a side of carrots, celery, and ranch dressing. I also ordered one of the more interesting drinks I've seen in a while- Sprite with fresh lime and mango juice. The lime juice made the Sprite that much more zesty and the mango added some tropical sweetness. All in all, a very refreshing drink and a perfect foil to the slight spiciness of the dishes.
The broasted chicken finally arrived and it came with the best side of naan bread and fries I've had in a while. The fried chicken was made Desi-style with the addition of spices to the breading. I enjoyed the chicken but wished for some additional kick- maybe with paprika? In any case, it was a huge portion of chicken- 3 drumsticks and a breast. The best part of the meal was the naan, which was just so good- chewy and crusty and more bread-like than most other naans I've had. It was actually really similar to Afghani-style bread. The fries were also delicious. They were tosed with spices and Parmesan cheese and hot out of the fryer- perfect with some Ranch dressing.
Overall, a really great meal. I really enjoyed my chicken, but my friends, who ordered two of the burgers and a pasta, weren't as happy with their meals. I'd be back to re-order this meal and maybe try their pizza. but perhaps not the other things off their menu.
ok, to be honest, I was wary of the "desi" eclectic menu... but since this place seemed to get such good reviews, my friend and i decided to go for dinner. I was going to give 4 stars till i read about the MSG and today i have a pretty nasty headache.. so i've downgraded them to three... The service still deserves 4 stars.
He ordered: Chicken Masala Burger with fries.
I didn't taste the burger, but the fries were really good warm. Crispy without being too greasy. Did notice some sort of powder on them... (maybe it's the MSG the other yelper talked about?)
He said the burger was really good.
My order: Chicken Wrap with salad.
Very good wrap. Warm, tightly wrapped and yummy sauce. I highly recommend. The salad was also good, just a typical garden salad with red onion and tomato bits in a vinaigrette.
We were wondering what Cardomom was and the server was kind enough to make us a small taste if the Cardomom lassi. It was good, but we opted for the Mango instead. yum!
The service was really nice, but i'm not sure if i'm convinced on the whole idea of so many cuisines in one place... jack of all, king of none?... but i can't say for sure since i didn't try the "desi chinese" stuff.. i'll give it a shot and report back then....
dinner for two plus one lassi was about $17 plus a tip.
very reasonable.
