This is a restaurant that one may pass a million times and not give it a second look. It is nothing special appearance wise and it isn't exactly in the greatest of areas. For these reasons, i wanted to try it. Now it's a place I go with my cousin at least once a month or more if we can arrange our schedules. I find the staff to be friendly and the place is comfortable enough. Now on to the food. It does not disappoint. From the chips and salsa all the way to the yummy entrees, this place is a treat. I usually get the chili verde burrito plate of 2 and it is a very generous serving. The beans alone are worth the trip. Last time I got the large combination plate and brought most of it home with me. It was delicious as well.
The prices are decent and the service is good. Give it a shot if you are a fan of good Mexican food.
Hector and staff are friendly, place looks like it used to be somebody's chopped up home (lots of odd spaces with tables set by themselves), and the food is....ok. Hardly great, it's edible, its average, its....ok. Beans and rice served with meals are at the very best average. Chips are...ok. Salsa served with them is store bought and not memorable. I really hope this isn't the best SLC can do for Mexican.
One of the best Mexican restaurants in Salt Lake City. The carnitas, chile verde, and shrimp dishes are all fabulous. How's their flan you ask? UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE!!! Really, their flan is reason enough to eat there. Don't be scared by the used car dealer building or the funky booths. Hector is in the kitchen every night serving up the best mexican food in town.
The ambiance alone is reason enough to go to this boutique Mexican restaurant. I was there for a light lunch and got the taco salad, which was probably the best I'd ever had. The chicken was amazing, and a little cilantro goes a long way.
Even before we ordered I knew it was going to be a quality meal as the salsa was really good. I assume it was "homemade," but I'm not sure.
