I have been to Mint Salon more than a handful of times and got a wonderful cut and blowdry every time. I usually see the same guy (Glenn Brown. He's wonderful!), but recently changed it up. It seems that sometimes life gets in the way of necessary hair maintenance and left me with some really ragged tresses. One day I looked in the mirror, realized my birthday was the very next day, and made a decision to start my 26th year without white-trash split ends. I instantly called up Mint and although my dear Glenn wasn't available, they set me up with JD Southern.
I walked in there with the idea of really changing up my 'do. JD sat me down, gave me lots of options, and eventually gave me a cut that wasn't as drastic, but really flattered my face. I bounded out of there with a new lease on life. Ever get the kinda haircut where friends and family stop to tell you they love your new 'do? Even males who know nothing about hair???? My cut was that good. The next day I realized JD completely saved me from making an impulsive mistake.
Long story short, go to Mint. In my book they do no wrong.
I have referred several people to see Ania for a bikini wax. Im not sure if they could take the pain but they definitely agreed that she is top notch! I always feel totally comfortable with her and know that she enjoys her job, at least she makes me think so.
For any first-timers... give this place a chance! You'll wonder why you didn't start earlier!
The owner Ronnie is the best when it comes to knowing what our pups want and like to enjoy on a spoiled doggie's day life. The shop is actually named after the owner two babies! How cute is that???
The doggies pamper day range from getting your baby a massage to gourmet foods. If you're fuzzy child is
Bobby moved on.... but Doug actually gets me great compliments.

I second a previous reviewer: Emily is simply amazing. She has exceptional taste and knows what she is doing. Plus she's funny, which is always a plus! I've been going to Emily for a while and she did my wedding hair, which was fabulous. Joel does my eyebrows, and is amazing. I actually look forward to the visit!
Mint is expensive. But you get what you pay for.
Been going here for the last 3 years. Followed Laura from her previous place of employment. Have used other stylists at the salon, and everyone is great! Clean, non - pretentious and worth every cent. Everyone is nice..........and continually the best haircut in Atlanta.
I am still always impressed with my own eyebrows after a wax here, though I prefer the male waxer to the female waxer (I cannot remember either of their names at the moment).
But I will have to downgrade my overall rating to a 3 because they gave me a REAL hard time about canceling a wax last minute because I had to go to a FUNERAL. Guilt-tripping me for canceling a wax because I had to leave town when someone died is grossly unacceptable. They didn't even offer an "I'm sorry for your loss" or anything, just, "it's already 6:00, you're canceling now?" Ever since then I haven't been comfortable going there, because I'm afraid they will look up my name and have some notation in there about my no-show. The guilt + the high price tag = I'm probably just going to get the cheap quick wax at Unique Nails down the block.

GO! GO!! GO!!!
I LOVE Mint....love love love it. We have a really great relationship! ;-)
Dusty has been my stylist for a couple of years now, and I couldn't ask for anyone better. He's attentive, compassionate, friendly and personable, and he gets it right each and every time. He's truly a professional that knows what he is doing -- but without the snooty attitude or uncomfortableness. He's FABULOUS!
Everyone (yes....everyone!) that works at Mint maintains those very same standards and I have never once heard any kind of complaint. I have sent many a friends and coworkers there and all have left very happy and plan to keep coming back.
The prices are worth it; they know what they're doing at Mint. Save yourself the trouble and heartbreak and do yourself a favor from here on out.....GO SEE DUSTY and the rest of the folks at Mint! You'll be in love!
I went here for eyelash extensions. Ania did a fantastic job. The process takes a long time (they have to glue each individual lash on). In the end, they look really long and really natural. I have received many compliments on them.
The entire staff at Mint Salon is super friendly. I would recommend this salon to anyone needing a haircut, color, wax , facial or eyelash extensions!!
Update: Went to Mint for a haircut with Justin. Wow! I love my hair. It looks super shiny and smells yummy too! He really takes his time and is very detailed oriented. He mixes these wonderful "hair product cocktails" that just take your hair to new levels. And, he's very entertaining in conversation as well.
Mint is a 10!! You must try it!!
I don't think anyone experiences true fear until they're getting ready to cut about 7-8 inches out of their hair after having long long hair for 10-12 years. I was so nervous I could barely make words come out of my mouth but Emily made me feel so comfortable and trust that she would take care of me. I'll admit it; having long hair is hard when you're a new mom so I was ready for a shorter do that almost "does" itself b/c you try holding a baby and a straightening iron at the same time. It just doesn't work. But my new do does and it's all thanks to the artistic and talented Emily. (I'm the aformentioned best friend in Stephanie T's review.) I've gotten so many compliments and so many people have told me that I look so much younger that I'm almost suspicious of my friends for not telling me to do this years ago.
Everyone was super nice in the salon, it was a great atmosphere, not stuffy whatsoever and I'll be sending all my friends there from now on.
OH and the best part? I wanted to get highlights as well but Emily convinced me that I didn't need them right now b/c my hair was still looking good from my last meeting w/ the foils. That said to me that she was more concerned with how I looked rather than how much I spent and THAT'S what makes an AMAZING salon.
I'm changing my original raving review to a "make sure you ask how much things cost" before you go. I am getting married on 7/29. Typically the consultation if you are getting your hair done the day of your wedding-is free or of minimal cost (although I tip very well for the time the stylist takes). That is how it always is with every salon I have ever gone to from proms to being a bridesmaid in several weddings-the bride's "run through" is just that-the run through.
Not only does my hair look messy and unkept and like my 10 year old daughter did it-they charged me $100 for the consultation. Which to me is absurd. Then-the day of will be $100 for me and $65 for my Matron of Honor. My daughters would be close to that and they have very simple hair.
I'm miffed-and I will not EVER go back there. Even though I liked my original stylist Wesley very much.
I originally went there because I thought they were "different" than the pretentious salons-but not so.
I didn't really know which salon I should go to in Atlanta, but I saw some ads for this place and it looked cute, so I figured I would try it out. I called to make my appointment, I had to leave a message but the guy called me back within the hour and I was able to make my appointment for the time and day I wanted!!
Justin did my cut, and I highly recommend him, he took lots of time with me and talked a ton. He was great! and I love my haircut!
Dusty did a good job on my hair, so this is review is not based on his lack of talent. I got a haircut and partial highlights.
I give it two stars because I payed way more than I've payed at higher end salons. I enjoyed talking to my stylist while he cut, foiled, and styled. BUT.
The big shocker came when I went to pay... I knew that as a first time visitor I'd get 20% off, but I didn't realize that I'd get charged for partial highlights and an extra $40 for extra color (in other salons I frequent, partial highlights price is all inclusive regardless of how many colors are actually mixed to achieve desired effect). Needless to say, with the 20% off, my bill was over $150 including a nice tip. I think they added the extra $40 b/c of the discount. BE CAREFUL!
OUCH. My hair is simple and not difficult to cut or style. I'm not a high-maintenance customer either, but I have to say that the price is a little too much for me and it's not what was quoted to me on the phone when I booked the appointment after reading Yelp reviews.
Just be SURE YOU ASK before they start on your hair so you are not hit with unexpected surprises!
Emily is basically amazing.
I had my first experience at Mint on Saturday, and although I am not easily impressed nor pleased when it comes to salons, my experience could not have been more perfect.
Emily spent a ton of time cutting my hair, and getting to know how it worked, and fell, etc. She listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted.
I cannot say enough how thrilled I was with the experience.
The prices are on the reasonable end of salon quality, and the staff were amazingly helpful in every respect.
A good stylist is hard to come by, and I have finally found mine.
When it rains, it pours...and you know what that means to your hair...FRIZZ!!
Yesterday, I got caught in a storm and got drenched!!! And my hair...eeps, scary!
Notice: the drought is finally over!!!
So I'm driving around midtown trying frantically to scrunch my hair all into a pony tail or under a head band or something to tame these frizzy fly-aways with no success. Then, I saw it, MINT SALON 20% off any first time hair treatment (cut or dye). My prayers were answered; it was just what I needed.
I parked right in front and walked in hoping that they could see my desperation and take me right away.
The salon itself isn't too impressive, very plain with no effort whatsoever to create a relaxing or cozy atmosphere you find at most salons in midtown. The over powering smell of hairsprays and shampoos wasn't very pleasant either.
Glen Brown did my cut and style. I don't want to go to much into critiquing his work - every stylist has their own vision for your hair, but he was one of the most fun stylist and very flattering and the conversations were not about hair!
It did perk my interest though that for a man that uses so many products in his own hair would leave my hair free of any balms or sprays?!
And I would have wished him to offer me another cape in the beginning, I left itchy with little hairs all over me.
We'll see how my style holds up this week, and he did give me his card and told me to call within a week to let him know of any problem areas he needs to fix - a kind gesture!
Oh, and back to the "when it rains, it pours" statement...Park Tavern is right across the street with $1 drafts during storms. So why not test your new style at picking up men at the bar?!
Mint is incredible! Emily did my best friend's hair last week, and it is literally the best she's ever looked! Today, in Dusty's hands, my hair was transformed in to the best style and color I have ever had. Dusty is an experienced professional, been in the business 18 yrs.! He chose the perfect shade of highlights for exactly the look I said I wanted, gives a fabulous scalp massage, and wraps up with a skilled style and dry. My hair has never looked so good!
These guys really know what they're doing. Wonderful atmosphere, refreshments, and unbelievable stylists earned this place the five stars. Check it out the next time you need hair, make-up, waxing, or facial services.
My husband got his hair cut by Justin for about $30 (there's a 20% off coupon for first time clients). It had gotten long/shaggy and he came back with it nicely trimmed and thinned (he has really thick hair). It was a noticeable difference than when he comes back from supercuts. Also, it's very close to Trader Joes so he was able to pick up groceries on the way home. :)
Doug Anderson ROCKS! A few close friends of mine have been seeing him for 5 or more years. I was converted 2 years ago and he's been coloring, cutting and styling my hair like no other. I had moved to SF for a year and missed Doug's intuitive and creative talent the entire time (and paid 40% more). While moving back to Atlanta I found out from my friends that Doug was at a new salon, Mint, and I booked an appointment for my first day back so he could fix my color and cut it back to compliment my face and style.
I've been to Mint to see Doug about 10 times now and I love the experience and energy they have created with the open space, wrapped with windows overlooking Piedmont Park, warm simple colors, and every employee is friendly, laid back, and welcoming.
The five stars really relate to Dusty, my stylist.
It is always nerve wracking finding a new stylist in a new city. I lucked out yesterday when he had availability at the last minute. Both my husband and I made back to back hair cut appointments.
Very clean salon, good soundtrack going on, refreshments offered.
The salon is for serious stylists who have been in the trade for at least a decade (plus one junior member who learns from more seasoned veterans). I love, love, love my cut and will definitely be going back regularly. I thought it was a bargain at $100 for both of our cuts.
Also, quite possibly the most extensive line of Aveda products (not just for hair but for skin etc.) I've ever seen under one roof.
I had a wonderful eyebrow wax here, but I found the price a little steep (20 dollars), particularly for Atlanta. I guess i've been spoiled by my 8-dollar eyebrow threading;)
I had a coupon for a haircut with Justin on Friday at Mint salon for my birthday and I have to say that my expectations were greatly exceeded .
I really didn't need a haircut, just maybe a trim as I had given up on anyone understanding my curly hair. I had been to Grow Salon in Avondale recently and asked for suggestions on what the crap I should or could do with my mop. Just like all the places I have ever been. I received a good trim and layer cut, but for 65$ plus tip, couldn't really even tell that I had anything done. I also walked out of Grow with wet frizzy hair as the stylist didn't really want to attempt my mass o curls.
Justin from Mint gave me perfectly straight hair for a change at my request and continued to give me a wonderful style. He was delightful and knew what I needed when I didn't. I gave him full control and he gave me an amazing cut. I couldn't have asked for more. I don't live downtown, but will definitely drive on down to use this fabulous salon again.
I am giving the 5 stars to Marty, the esthetician. I LOVE facials but had not found one in ATL that I really loved.... Unitl I went to Marty.
Now, don't expect the kind of facial that will make you snore, this is like your skin is getting a workout! He really knows what he is doing, he is massaging, doing accupressure, etc. My skin felt really toned and cleaner after.
The only reservation I have is with their policy of 24 hour cancellation. I understand their poing but for me and other busy moms, sometimes a sick toddler does not give you 24 hours notice! And getting charged the full amount of the appointment is just too much.
I just went to this place for the first time and let me tell you they are GREAT! I'm a student up here and have just gotten my own place. I don't have the time to drive back home anymore so I had to start looking for a few salon to go to. I'm very picky about how my hair is done and Dusty was amazing. He sat me down and talked with me about how my hair should be colored and cut. The color job is by far one of the best I have ever had in my years of getting my hair colored. I don't consider the price to be bad at all, especially considering this is Atlanta. I will most definitely be going back there for as long as I am in Atlanta!
When I lived in Seattle my stylist Julia was not only a close friend but she had also worked as a hair and makeup artist in Hollywood for years. While in Santa Barbara my stylist Svetlana was beautiful, Russian (of course!) and although she was a bit rough with the shoulder massage she was an amazing stylist. So how did I get so lucky to walk into my neighborhood salon Mint and meet Dusty who meets my uber high expectations? Dusty first and foremost has talent, now that is so very important when allowing someone to alter your appearance but just as important when spending a hour with someone he's chalk full of interesting history, like he worked on the Sopranos set as a stylist, I'll leave it to you to schedule your next appointment and hear the rest for yourself. While I'm at it I'll tell you a little about Mint as well, I've had a few experiences with other stylists and they've all been positive, the overall design provides a spa like atmosphere that I find relaxing. A mens style should run 40 to 50 with tip. (Justin is great as well)
