I've been to the Minado in Natick MA and this is clearly the better Minado. It's not that the Massachusetts one is bad either, but...
-This Minado had no wait at 7pm on a Friday night for a party of two
-The sushi seemed better, with more Sashimi-style offerings and fewer boring California rolls (although they definitely still have those if that is your thing.)
-Oysters! These are not the best oysters I've ever had, but I was excited about them all the same, I mean all you can eat oysters! woah! My last visit to the Natick location they had a plate out that should have been oysters, but left it conspicuously empty the whole time I was there.

Some tips for eating at Minado:
DO go in for the high ticket items like Oysters, Salmon and Tuna Sashimi, etc.
DON'T waste precious stomach space on the hot items, in general they are way less interesting and delicious, and will fill you up faster
DO come hungry and pack it in, $29 for dinner isn't the most expensive meal ever, but it ain't cheap. Make the most of it.

Most importantly, DON'T come here on a date. You'll both end the night satisfied, yes. But it won't be because of the other person. While raw food is sexy and carnal,it's hard to hold a conversation when you're gorging yourself and leaving the table to get another plate every few minutes, plus at the end you'll be way too fat and happy to want to touch or kiss another human being. Still if your loved one is way into sushi, they may thank you the next morning once they've recovered from the food coma.

Happy eating!

Eh. This place use to be better about 3 or 4 years ago. Its gone down hill. And really, no one needs to eat THAT MUCH.

The sushi is good for a buffet. I have eaten here a few times and enjoyed it. I try to avoid other portions of the buffet because of the line. The sushi station is not too crowded and they have plenty of varieties.

Nice place, overall.

This used to be an excellent place for sushi, but I went recently and noticed they are skimping out on a lot of good stuff. Their sushi selection is not as good. They also used to have good raw oysters and shrimps but I did not see them this last time.
It is still a very good place if you want to try fresh sushi of all kinds. I like their veggies. They are very fresh, light, and have good flavors.
This place accomodates big  parties, but the noise level is quite high. This is not the place to go for a quiet evening out.

I came here 2 days for lunch.  Love the food.  In fact i am craving it right now. Great place for sushi since there is sooo much variety and definitely fresh.  The hot buffet is really good too (fish, beef, seafood, chicken).  They also have a salad bar and dessert bar.  I saw a hibachi station but no one there cooking up.  I didnt get to have the udon noodle soup b/c I was so full from all the dishes they had.  My waiter was awesome.  The restaurant was really nice and clean despite it being located as part of a motel.  I enjoy it. Con is paying the toll to get back to nyc.

a buffet is like a casino, because they both make their money through the laws of statistics.  there'll be a small handful of people who actually come out ahead of the house, but the house compensates and pulls a profit because the large majority of people who come in leave at a loss.

whenever i come into a buffet, it always boils down to whether i can actually eat more than my entrance fee.   what can i say?  not only am i cheap, i'm also a pig.  and with that pleasant thought in mind--hellllllooooo ladies.

generally, here are some pointers for beating minado.
-carbs are for suckers.
-avoid watery foods (no veggies)
-hit the high value items (in this case--teriyaki beef, sea urchin, fatty tuna, king crab legs).
-as for sushi--eat the fish, leave the rice.  hide the rice in an oyster shell from the raw oyster bar.
-for dessert, go with the crepe bar not the cakes.
-if you get thirsty, eat fruit.  don't drink.
-loiter, loiter, loiter.
-when in doubt, don't wuss out.  run this equation through your head--(taste x value)/(fillingness).  the higher the number, the more of that shit you should eat.
-don't ever give a sucker your meal, cuz he only loves you for it while it's still on his lips...no receipt on file, no loyalty, no style.

two guys pull up to a one story building, before entering one guy tells the other: "now when we'll go in there, I want you to act cool, don't look at the employees in the eyes and don't even think about feeling uncertain around the customers, ok?" No, this is not a scenario for a bank robbery, but more like a prep talk between a frequent visitor and a newbie before entering an all-you-can't-eat buffet, and a good looking one at that.
This spacious place is opposite from H-Mart that serves me Korean-style sushi and cheap Calpico, and it's the only buffet I visit on rare occasion in NJ.
Now I usually try to beat it into my own head that I should either stick to sushi or hot dishes but I feel like I'm not the only one who breaks that promise at the site.
On some occasions when I don't, I stick with the fish which with each visit becomes less and less attractive. Along with the thickening of rice, the hot dishes seem to have fallen in strength as well. BBQ dishes and chicken katsu taste bland and dry.
But if I had to pick this place over a similar place like Todai of NYC (which is superior in food quality) then it would be because of the staff which rarely makes you feel guilty for not ordering drinks nor rushes you out with their eyes because they need more seats.

like you're going to stay focused or know what you're eating.

They're good for lunch and dinner.  Lunch costs you about $15-16 and dinner costs about $25.  Dinner is cool bc they have better hot food (like short ribs and crepes) and more hand rolls to eat!  Lunch has ok hot food but still a pretty good offering of sushi.  It's in a nice, clean space w/ good service but the sushi is really lacking I guess bc it's a buffet place.  They give you hardly any fish w/ LOADS of rice... Oh and one thing bad in terms of the hot food is the beef is really fatty.  Just a note, the sushi goes fast... so grab as much as you can so you don't have to wait so long :)

If you want to pig out and pass out with food in your mouth, this is probably the place to go. It's in NJ and located at an out of the way place, you definitely need to have your appetite when you go here. Bring a driver along because you'll probably need someone to do the driving after you realize your stomach is too big to fit behind the wheel. Sushi isn't their specialty but they do have lobster tail if you wait in line long enough to see it.
