Kept reading about Mimi's everywhere, couldn't wait to try it.

The pitas were warm and delicious and the Hummus was to die for!  Seriously! I've had the Maakuda (sp?) twice already both times perfect!

The desserts are delish as well, I fell so hard in love with the Almond cookies I had for desert I brought some home to blog about( but I ate them lol)!!!

Absolutely LOVE this place!

I like hummus all right, but the hummus here is to die for.  Limited menu, several different types of hummus and salads, all delicious and servings of pita that are beyond generous.

The real reason for my review is to recommend the SHAKSHUKA!  If you come here, please please please order the shakshuka (http://en.wikipedia.or...).  The special of the day was shakshuka with mergeuz; I died and went to heaven.  Seriously one of the better meals I've had in the past few weeks.

Cutey cute little spot in the former Trailer Park space.  There is a small open kitchen where all the ingredients are neatly arranged.  Old photographs on the wall make this joint homey and neighborhoody.

I had the special tomato salad- no hummus.  It was mixed with feta, spices and briny Moroccan black olives  served with some toasted pita points.  Super tasty, hit the spot.

There is somethimg delightful about Mimis Hummus. Although the food is good and there is enough variety among the middle eastern dishes for a vegetarian or a carnivore, There is something intangible, that shines through.
The tangibles ( food)  are good and inexpensive with main courses for under $ 15 and lots of salads and sides that can be upgraded to mains. Some of the combination salads are definitely worth tryiog for example I had a salad plate of roasted beets, white beans and hummus, which could have beeen a meal by itself
It could be the intangibles (ambiance, helpful, friendly young ladfies eager to help or the new wave, music background, some of it original works), but there still something more
In retrospect it was the combination of the food, ambiance and service --- that delightful balance and good karma, It rare when it come together, but when it does it can make your whole evening.
Try Mimi's and see if you can feel the specialness of the place

We are new to the neighborhood and this is already "our place" for dining out. My husband is absolutely addicted. Highly recommended.

Delicious food in this intimate, friendly restaurant.  Don't come with a large group since there are only 8 tables.  Yummy and super cheap.  Bring a bottle of wine from the liquor store next door.

At some point, we had to ask if it was for real.  The pita was fresh, fluffy and warm. The meat hummus was so good I almost cried.  The meat filo pie was gorgeous and delicious.

Also nice to BYOB.  Our server was super sweet and opened beers for us.  They also sent out some chocolate balls at the end - I was really surprised at how much I liked them!

Without getting too gushy, this place was fantastic. We came in around 9 on Saturday night. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, and didn't leave for about 2 hours. The four of us ordered two hummus (meat and mushroom) and 3 plates (beet, cauliflower, and stuffed grapeleaves), all at the recommendation of our excellent server, Merlene. This was probably enough food, but it was entirely too good to stop. We still had half a magnum of pinot noir, so we got another hummus, tabouli, and the eggplant caviar. We were barely able to finish all of this. After eating one of the best meals I've had in months for 2 hours, I was expecting the bill for the four of us to be higher than $65. With tip.

The only problem with this place is the size. As these 4 and 5 star reviews pile up it's going to be next to impossible to eat at the joint. So, with that in mind, I wouldn't bother going. It's not really that good.

Ca-yuuute! This little restaurant is perfect for an impromptu date. It's BYOB, so pick up a bottle of wine and if there's space, you can sit right at the large window, both facing out (European style), and watch the multicultural denizens of Ditmas park walk up and down Cortelyou.

And it's very inexpensive. I had the meat hummus and my lady love had the beef wrapped in filo dough. We started with the best stuffed grape leaves I had and made it out of there for less that $25.

And it was good, too! The meat hummus was served with pine nuts, which gave the whole dish a nutty taste. You have a choice of wheat or white pita. I chose wheat, and MMM-MMM-MMM!

Beth J mentioned the chocolate coconut balls, and so did the waitress - who was very sweet herself - but we were so satisfied after appetizer and dinner that we had to pass.

The only problem I can foresee with this place is its size. It is quite small, so if it catches on in popularity, you may have trouble getting a seat. Especially one at the window.

For a small place, Mimi's Hummus packs a wallop of a punch.

Its intimate space and relaxed attitude makes Mimi's an ideal late night rendevous or casual lunch spot.

Everything I've tasted has been wonderful; fresh and exuberant with hints of comfort and novelty in every bite.

I heartily encourage everyone in the area to sit at Mimi's, split a plate of freshly made hummus with wonderfully warm Pita, watch the people pass, and drink some Turkish coffee.  You won't be disappointed.

Went to this place last night for the 1st time, and it's terrific.  Small, but terrific.  I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could (5 stars for me is reserved for, I don't know, Le Bernardin or something like that - call me odd but that's just how I roll).

My friend and I had: meat hummus, grape leaves and labene, which is basically yogurt with herbs.  All were delish.  And the ingredients were clearly of the freshest.  The only (very slight) negative: the waitress was at times a bit aggressive with the upsell (something while you're waiting, an add'l drink besides the wine, coffee, etc.).  But that's just NYC: someone's selling you all the time.  The main thing is it was a great - and filling - meal in a nice atmosphere.  And while I don't know, my impression is this is exactly the way these dishes would taste if you ordered them in Tel Aviv.

They seem to already be developing a following, and I know I'll be back many times.  A lovely addition to the Ditmas Park restaurant scene.

^ Since I wrote the previous, I've been back a second time, had the mujjadara.  It was lovely - a nice combo of warm lentils & cous cous & cool yogurt as a condiment.  4.5 stars for sure.

OMG. Delish. So fresh - I had the hummus and an Israeli salad (tomoatos, oregano, feta, black olives) and it was to die for.  In fact, gotta go, I'm going to go eat my leftovers!

Mimi's is a great addition to an already great area.  The hummus is expertly crafted, the pita is warm and delicious, and the staff is welcoming and helpful.  It's hard to imagine that a place with several hummus items on the menu could be a good idea, but Mimi's manages to make each one delicious and tempting in a unique way.

The hummus, cauliflower, spicy chicken meatballs and fresh pita was FANTASTIC!  While I don't live near the area, this is a very good reason for me to come back...and often.  If you happen to be in that area and love hummus, like I do, it's worth a visit.

Woo another Ditmas Park dining option!  Went last night for the first time after having a beer at Sycamore, where another patron encouraged me to get "the egg thing."  I didn't get the egg thing, but what I got, the fava bean hummus, was great!  I heart hummus.  I got it to go, and the waitress invited me to sit and offered me water while I waited.  She also listed the specials, which included a chicken thing (which came first - the chicken or the egg thing?) so it's good to know hummus isn't the ONLY option.  I do wish they offered falafel but word on the street is they don't want to fry anything.  Oh well.  Super cute place, I'll go back.  Maybe next time I'll get the egg thing.

Yes the hummus is pricey, i flinched the first time I ordered it, but damn is it worth it.  I order delivery from Mimi's a lot, and I think I'm addicted.  The fava bean hummus is to die for.  My boyfriend orders the mushroom.  The pickles are so tasty, and the whole wheat pita is wonderful.  One thing though, when you order delivery you have to pay in cash and the order has to be $20.  Many times I have really wanted Mimi's, but with a pile of work to finish and no cash I haven't been able to order.  You lose my business that way, and I'm sure that of others as well.  Please Mimi's either take cards over the phone or drop the ridiculous $20 minimum.  You'll have more customers.

I went to Mimi's a couple of times right when it opened, and then again this weekend. The food is consistently great. Nothing beats their fresh pita. And the word on the street is that they're delivering now.

The Hummus is swell and the staff is sweet. The space is small, but they do take-out too.
