i never come out empty handed...
if its a good or a bad thing, i haven't decided yet...
AHHHH
Love love love love love!
Thanks again to Yelp for hooking it up and helping me find my new favorite boutique in the San Diego area!
Located in the oh so cute neighborhood of North Park, Mimi and Red makes you go "Oooh" just from looking at the front sign. The store is relatively small but jam packed full of super cute, unique, and AFFORDABLE pieces! Can I get an amen for $4 earrings!?
Rhonda (aka Red) was really helpful, professional, and kind. I walked away with an adorable Bambi-esque charm necklace, a sweet BB Dakota coat, and dress for under $150. Check out their Facebook page for the best info. Red told me that they update their Facebook every week with their new items. Hooray for small, adorable, non-corporate run boutiques by good people with a great eye for fashion.
I will definitely be back for more!
Out of all the cute lil' shops in north park. Mimi and Red's is my fav. First if you don't have a shopping buddy there's a built it shopping buddy with either you guessed it Mimi or Red and both of them have great taste on what works and what doesn't.
I'm still eyeing up a Betseyville bag that's now on sell. Yay you heard me Betsyville.....on sell! They're prefect for the buying the one piece that makes the rest of your wardrobe pop. And the dresses! such cute dresses! These aren't the Forever-a-hoe dress that you wear once and remains buried in your closet. It a good mix of classic and style of the season.
Happy hunting my friends.
really cute clothes and accessories for a decent price! I picked out a ton of dresses and outfits, but didn't walk away with any of them because of the size! I was devastated, but since the bf took be all the way to SD, I couldn't leave empty handed, so I picked out a cute print scarf, a multiple chain necklace, and a paisley print scarf looking vest made of sheer material. The way they dressed the store window model was so cute that I had to have it. Since these were all things I could "fit," I still left a happy camper!
As for parking, we got lucky and took a street spot right in front of the store.
Definitely check it out. The store seemed pretty big for a boutique and the owner has laid out TONS of accessories wall to wall, that if you can't fit the clothes, you will most likely find some bauble somehow.
If you're familiar with the Gossip chains in L.A., Mimi and Red carries similar stuff along with BB Dakota and tons of RVCA the day I went.
They have the best selection of funky unique accessories at very reasonable prices. I recently picked up a turntable necklace for around 11 bucks I think. I also got my favorite gun necklace here for $9! They carry a bunch of really cute clothes as well, especially the dresses which are also reasonably priced.
The staff is amazing. Theyre super nice and make you feel welcome.
This store was easy to find!
They have a handful of very cute accessories!
Nice trendy jeans! Dresses and tops..! I bought a cute little floral print romper for $34 and did not break the bank!
I love their selection of belts and clutches as well.
The staff was very helpful and friendly =]
Definitely coming back!
I love this place. It's my go-to for new dresses, tops, jeans, jewelery, etc.
Their prices are great - not too much money, with a selection of higher end things. The jewelery is FANTASTIC and super cheap!
On top of the great selection and prices of everything, the girls who work there are really great! Super friendly and helpful. They love what they do and it shows!
I love this shop!
I too found this awesome boutique on yelp. I bought the perfect dress there for presenting at a design conference, stylish and professional. I call it my Mad Men dress since it looks like its right out of the show.
I stopped in during a weekend trip from Philadelphia almost two months ago and the owner was so nice, she even recommended a great dinner & drink spot. I can't wait till the boutique is online so I can buy clothes here. Thanks!
my new favorite store! i loved it! Found it on yelp, and so glad I did! can't wait to go back and find more stuff!! =)
LOVE IT! I have nothing bad to say about this place. It seems like they have new stuff come in like every week. So I stop by regularly. The prices are really reasonable and the clothing and accessories are really unique.
MIMI & RED really caught my eye. I LOVE THE NAME. So cute. I always drive down University Ave to get to the 163, or 805 & see this place, I've been dying to come here since forever and I finally got to come a few days ago. They carry all kinds of stuff! My kinda place :)
Love the customer service. I believe they do fashion shows, too. Holla for the girlies! This is the definition of a BOUTIQUE to me.
This place is dangerous: I can't leave without getting something.
The price ranges from inexpensive to a little more "high end".
They always have cute purses/clutches and accessories.
They carry lounge fly which I love.
Also, the style of clothing ranges widely from casual, skate, dressy-casual, bohemian, fancy, etc.
Plus Rhonda and Michelle are super nice and I feel comfortable asking them how I look in the clothes when I try them on. Oh there is cool artwork (some for sale), candles, hand-made unique jewelery pieces and sunglasses.
I was a model in north park fashion week and one of the fashion shows I did was for this cute little boutique. The clothing is super cute, trendy and sophisticated. I love the layout of the store as well, looks fully stocked but clean and clear at the same time. Super nice owners! Definitely must stop in this place if you pass by.
Their clothes are all unique and fashion friendly. The merchandise ranges in price as to fit into any budget. The girls there are very friendly and accommodating. But my absolute favorite thing about this place is the accessories. My only problem is that I can't walk out of the place without getting out the credit card. . . le sigh
I love Mimi & Red.
Their selection of clothing, bags, and accessories will satisfy label whores (like me) and budget minded shopaholics...like everyone else in this f-ed up economy.
I especially like that they carry 2 of my favorite dress labels, Fighting Eel and Haven, and I love that they keep it real by carrying locally designed jewelry.
It seems to me that Michelle and Rhonda have created that most magical and elusive of things...a boutique that consistently delivers that perfect piece...that dress, that bag, that giant pile of clothes...that you've been looking for.
Bravo, ladies!
Spectacular!
Purchased Christmas gifts there for the lovely ladies in my life: my boss and my mom. Great selection of local jewelry...fun, funky, but still professional enough to wear to work. I found some perfect necklaces, earrings, and bracelets there. (Only wish was that there was a bigger selection of fun watches.) The sales rep was kind and helpful, and at no point did I feel the boutique snobbiness.
Know where else there was no boutique snobbiness? The cash register. I'm a happy dude who's Christmas shopping is now DONE, thanks to a local business in my neighborhood!
I've only visited once -- but all of the clothes were totally my style. The store definitely has some great items. Price range totally differs -- from $14 necklaces to $300 Betsy Johnson purses. Most merchandise is on the lower end of the price range. .
When I went, the sizes were a little picked over...but that's what you get at boutiques -- and, it's way better than having to see everyone wearing the same size small top you just picked up.
I will definitely visit Mimi & Red again. Great vibe at the cash register too.
Dear Mimi and Red,
I'm sorry I have been away so long. It wasn't you, it was my damn lack of a paycheck for two months. I'm coming home baby, I promise. It'll be like old times when I would stroll into your welcoming air-conditioning, gently touch and fondle all of your adorable clothes and accessories, have stimulating conversation with the really nice manager/owner and pick out a few items for continued at-home enjoyment. I'll never let debt get between us again. I love you.
Love, Hillary
CHEAP adorable accessories - so far I've nabbed plastic leopard print glittery earrings and sweet sunglasses (that I amazingly have not lost or sat on yet).
Some of the clothes have been out of my (admittedly sorry) price range, but I did score an amazing short khakhi swing trench coat with LOOOONG sleeves (wrist-baring coat sleeves just piss me off!). Even my normally fashion-dense dude friends comment on it.
This place is super fun. Go here.
Very cute stuff! They have a wide variety of accessories and you can find some inexpensive and cute clothes. Although you can expect to pay around $100.00 for dresses that are a little bit more special. They are very friendly and also willing to help you find something or put together an outfit, the type of customer service you don't get at a department store. Overall great place.
I loveee the layout of the store. It's so modern and refreshing! They had a lot of cute clothes but I thought their jewelry was even cuter! The prices are not bad and they have the stuff you won't find anywhere else. I can't wait to come back!
Super cool shop and really well priced. Their selection is very current and different from anywhere else. Their accessories are ridiculously low priced and fun. It seems like they are always getting new stuff in, which is cool.
Unique fashions in a boutique setting at reasonable prices! This is the kind of clothing store I've been looking for...not cookie cutter like Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe but not ridiculously expensive like designer boutiques. It's right in between which is perfect.
Pendant necklaces, dangly earrings for $4, gorgeous hand made feather hair clips in assorted colors for $18, clutches, wallets, long flowy jersey dresses, fall/winter jackets....all organized and neatly displayed!
There are some pieces of clothing similar to what I've seen at other stores, but that is totally forgivable considering all the other cute stuff they have. I walked in there and instantly started piling stuff on the cash register. There were a lack of the Small size but I think that's because every girl in the know shops here. Maybe I shouldn't be writing this review? Just kidding. This boutique is totally worth checking out. New inventory comes in every week.
Finally made my first trip out to Mimi & Red, and surprise, surprise, I spent money I didn't really need to be spending. Got a great black dress on sale, and an awesome blouse that I couldn't wait to wear later than evening. The owner was so chill to chat with while my friend and I were browsing, and the selection of accessories was right up my alley. The buttons on the shirt I bought were loosely sewn on, but the owner didn't hesitate to give me a great discount on it.
Great clothes, accessories galore, sweet owner, and really reasonable prices. My bank account should be afraid. Very afraid.
I don't even remember what it was like before they opened!! I've been going there on a fairly weekly basis for over a year now and I've got to say that this IS my favorite boutique in the area. Every time I go in, there is so much to choose from and honestly, they've got the most amazing selection for the most affordable prices...and the best is having people compliment and ask where I bought my ring, dress, wallet, etc...
Michelle and Rhondda are amazing and very helpful when it comes to choosing something. They make the experience so much better!
They're so cutting edge and carry some of my favorite lines like RVCA, Element, Blank Denim, BB Dakota as well as a slew of others...
So, if you're looking for a place to get awesome clothing/ accessories, hit them up and I can say I'd be shocked if you didn't find anything...It would be a sad day in North Park without Mimi & Red!
xoxo
I found something really cute here! It's a hiddern gem. The selection of clothing they have suits my taste, but I wish they had more things to pick from. I'll definitely go back.
This is a very cute shop in our newly renovated North Park Downtown. Me and a friend went in during a aftnoon walk, spoke with the owner (who was super nice) and bought a 2 pairs of very cool large scallop earrings. When we initially put them on they felt fine but as time went on they became very heavy. Sure hate it! Minejust sit in the jewelry box shining brightly knowing they will never be worn again... not by me anyway.
I walked in here and within 15 minutes I found a great new dress for under $50 an it fit me so well and it is sooooo sooooo cute! Ohh doll go to mimi and red and see if you have as good of luck as I did. I can't wait to go back and check out their new digs and adding to my closet.
i LOVE this place. I've never really looked at their clothes, because their accessories are amazing. And cheap. They specialize in $4 earrings! All funky, unique stuff. Whenever I wear an accessory from here (pretty much daily, since I have so many!) I get compliments. And then I get to tell the person that I got the piece they are complimenting me on at a little boutique, which makes it that much cooler. I've gotten funky rings, necklaces, tons of earrings, clutches, and tons of bracelets from here. I even bought my 55 year old mother a necklace from here, which she loves! Only downside is parking. But it's North Park. Parking sucks. That's common knowledge.
Mimi & Red is my favorite boutique in San Diego....why? you ask...For starters, the owners, Rhonda and Michelle, are the most friendly, kind people who always make you feel welcome in a genuine way. They have even called me when new things have arrived! They have a great variety of styles and clothes and the prices are in all ranges. I know I can stop by after work (dangerous for me to work so close!) and find that perfect new outfit for any occasion. So the next time you are going on a hot new date or just dinner with friends, you know the place to shop!
I absolutely love this boutique!!! They have great clothes, accessories, and service!!!
I went in here and didn't see a darn thing I liked. The colors were pretty dark for Summer and I had just come from Twirl where I scored big time. I found the stuff in here...uninteresting.
Sorry,
I wanted to like it - I really did...maybe it was just the current selection but I doubt I'll go back. :(
They have the cutest jewelry, especially the little delicate bird necklaces. There are so many different designs and they are all so cute. It took me 30 minutes just to pick one out! I love having a cute boutique in the neighborhood that I can walk to.
I really like shopping at small boutiques just because I don't feel completely overwhelmed, as compared to going to a 4 story Forever 21.
The only reason why I can't give this place a 5 star rating is because the brands of the clothing carried can be found in other boutiques for about the same if not less.
When I moved here last year I didnt know where to go to shop. First instict took me to Fashion Valley and Horton Plaza. I checked out Macy's, Forever 21, and a couple of other stores. And the two malls put me in this mood where I started thinking about communism... in not a dark light at all. So nothing was looking good :S and I still had nothing to wear! I was gonna go on a date to check out Holly Golightly and I wanted to look good for the boy but I wanted to look great for Holly! So then I went onto yelp figured out where there are non-mall shopping opps and hit Mimi&Red during my lunch hour. I got a cute little outfit and now I'm getting married next week :)
Moral of the story:
sometimes the mall just wont do. Mimi& Red has cute stuff (some cheap some moneymoneymoneymoney) but i dont know.... i feel better when I come outta this place... maybe because its a little more intimate.... friendly people too.
Mimi and Red, you make me feel so cool for living in North Park. You have some quality basics, along with some funkier, more unique stuff, which is miraculously in my price range. I seriously have gotten reverse sticker shock here before.
The owner rocks, and always remembers me when I walk in. Also, the dressing rooms are so cute, and the whole place is really well laid out.
I'm torn because I want to give Mimi and Red a bad review so nobody else can shop here but I like Rhonda so much that I can't.
I love this place!!!! I love all the clothes. I love the prices. and i love the owner (co-owner) Rhonda. Please support them!
I wish I still had a job.
The clothes don't come cheap, but i got a nice pair of sunglasses for $14. Earrings go for less than $5, but I don't do dangly earrings.
They have a bunch of Element and RVCA clothes, cute dresses that'll leave you broke like no joke.

Thanks to you fashionable Yelpers, Mimi & Red will probably be an all to frequent stop of mine from now on! This adorable boutique in NP has the cutest accessories, jewelry and clothing AND it's surprisingly affordable! You're bound to find something to tickle fancy whether you want to spend $10 or $100. I spoke with a very sweet Michelle (the owner maybe?) when I was there and she said they get new merchandise in fairly frequently and will soon be carrying higher end handbags like Betsey Johnson.
Next time your in the mood for a little shopping (and who isn't!?) check out Mimi & Red!
Fun clothes at fun prices. Hello, affordable clothes means more to buy.
There's a good mix of inexpensive clothes and higher end clothing. Fighting Eel, Rebecca Beeson, Miss Me, BB Dakota, Tree People, and Nu Collective are some examples you would find. Jewelry and accessories are also inexpensive (most of them anyway).
I had a nice chat with the owner (Mimi or Red, I don't know) which made my shopping feel more personalized. North Park is lucky to have Mimi & Red. I predict this will be an up and coming shopper's playground.
Whenever I am stressing about what I am going to wear for my friday nights out.....I just head to mimi and red and always find at least 1 outfit!!!!
Alot of my paychecks have gone to this store, and have amazing things to show for it!!!
