I love this place so much- I wish I could give this place more stars!!!

They were my first and only choice when I found out I got knocked up last year. After 2 false labor and an emergency c section, they were so nice and helpful!  I love their maternity ward...if I ever decide to go through pregnancy ever again- I am coming back to Mills. Their nurses are the best and made me comfortable. They hooked me up with ready to feed formula when it was time for me to go home. I was kinda sad when it was time to face reality.

And their food.....it's so good that I sometimes wanna go to Mills just to eat their food.  I used to get excited when they would ask me what I wanted for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I requested for salmon and the lady wasn't sure if they had salmon available but they came through with salmon anyways.

YAYYY MILLS! LOL

I am forever thankful for the wonderful staff who took great care of mom while comforting and reassuring me mom will be ok.

Special thanks to Ed, Cheryl, Sharon, Hussein, Connie, Annette, Katherine...and a very pregnant nurse (Sharwin?) I forgot the name but took great care of mom.

Our appreciation to the doctors - Dr. Pope, Dr. Baumann, Dr. Patel, Dr. Stayer, Dr. Chen, Dr. Lui, Dr. Nguyen...

Father was escorted to this hospital's ICU and was in their care for a few weeks. Due to school/work schedules, our whole family could not be here during his whole stay so we had to leave him to the staff for a day or two.

When we arrived unsuspectingly, we discovered that some of the nurses were rude and neglectful to a man in his 70s and bad in health. I was really disappointed because I used to volunteer here and spoke highly of the staff here. I remain to hold that stance but the few unprofessional representatives should be ashamed!

Final Call:
It's a huge hospital in a small area so its importance is magnified. We all need a hospital in the area but if possible, have a family member/friend attend the patient during their stay.

This is about the ER. If you need emergency services, hopefully you can GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I gave two stars because I'm confident that they do have competent personnel there. It is also true, however, that your experience will most likely include sitting there seemingly forgotten about for many hours after you check in. Apparently the place is severely overburdened and seriously understaffed, because EACH time I've brought a family member there the above has been the result.

This review is for the locked psych unit at Mills.  I had to do a ton of clinicals while I was in nursing school, and this was my favorite facility and my favorite rotation ever.  The nurses were all so professional and skilled at what they do.  They were great at interacting with the patients and really knew their stuff.  Plus, the unit is located on one of the higher floors of the hospital, so it had a pretty nice view.  If I ever needed to be put on a psych unit, this would be my facility of choice.

Also, the cafeteria at this place is one of the best hospital cafes I have eaten at.  They always had the best breakfast and lunches that I would look forward to.

What a mind-bogelling pile of incompetent medical shit. Really? Is it that hard to get an X-ray?    Wear gown, lie down, get dosed with radiation.... Easy right?  WRONG !!! Try 3 hours of hell!

This review is specifically for the Mills Peninsula Birth Center.

If you can, have your baby here. Outstanding, professional and extremely knowledgeable care by the nurses in the labor and delivery department.  The skills and experience of nurse Christa Profaca prevented me from having a C-section for the birth of our first child. Without her intervention and ability to think of alternative positioning techniques, we were headed for surgery, which was extremely emotionally draining after we had been pushing for 2 hours and thought we would have our baby without a C-section.

The rooms are private, spacious, and the amenities are very accommodating. They provide a nice robe, and lots of products to take home to take care of mom and baby.  My husband, who is 6 ft 6 in tall, was able to fit on the pull out couch-bed next to mine. The nurses and staff checked on us and our baby frequently, answered all our questions, and had excellent advice and tips. The lactation specialists also came to our room to assist with breast feeding, which was AMAZING and very important.

They keep you in the hospital for a couple days after you deliver, and during that time, they are very active in getting you set up to take your newborn home. We really appreciated the extra "coaching" and information that was vital for new parents. And they also help mom a lot with all the aches and pains post-partum. They make you feel very comfortable and help you heal.

All in all, it was an incredible experience and we feel very lucky to have had the care we did at Mills Peninsula Birth Center.  I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

I blogged about the experience here:

I'm writing this review in regards to the ER. The ER doctor was very nice and happy to help. Bring a magazine or a crafts project because you WILL be waiting. It took 2 hours before I could even have a room and I even had to wait inside the room until the doctor could see me. Come on now!!

The hospital had two objectives regarding my fractured ankle surgery.

1.  Pain management: manage my pain after surgery and work out a functional regime that would apply at home.

2.  Home care assistance: team me with my case manager early in my stay to begin arranging my support system at home.

Reality

1.  I was being pulled off intravenous morphine and given oral meds (what I would use at home) before the nerve block stopped working.  No pain?  Time for me to go home!  After seeing me the doctor said I wasn't off the block yet.  I asked to begin testing pain management AFTER the block wore off.  This was the first sign of attitude from the hospital that I was overstaying my welcome.  The next day, block worn off, the oral meds did not work - pain at 11 on a scale of 1-10.  My file got the note: "Pt . doesn't want to go home."  I was rushed out the next day by taxi, no more courtesies.

2. Surgery was on Monday, I was discharged (bum-rushed) Thursday.  I said every day that I hadn't met with the case manager yet.  I told my doctor on Thursday that I hadn't seen a case manager.  A half hour later she comes.  She shows me the resource sheet I had seen online before I was admitted; I tell her I need advice.  She sends one home health place for me to interview.  I want to interview more so I know what I'm buying and that I'm getting what I need at a reasonable price.  I could have been interviewing since Tuesday.  I am sent home before anything is arranged.

Food:  when I got what I ordered, it was surprisingly good.  Note: they're not up on vegetarian diets.

Sorry this isn't very funny.  If I hadn't been treated like a burden to society and gotten what I needed for my transition into a short-term life of diability, I'd have been giddy with joy.  Now, if you'll excuse me, it's time for my dose of dark chocolate.

Let me spare you the gory details; suffice it to say that I had to have an ultrasound today.  From start to finish, the staff at Mills-Peninsula was incredibly cool.

I'll break it down.  The woman in admitting was friendly, asked interestedly about my job, and made sure to point me in the right direction.  The woman I checked in with at Radiology was smiley and kind and gave me a coupon for a free beverage [my choice: water (bottled) of course, due to the impending ultrasound].  The woman in the cafe was also extremely polite and helpful.  And the technican who performed the ultrasound was experienced, professional, and very empathic.   Whatever happy pills they're putting in the Kool-Aid at this joint need to be mass-distributed.

Mills-Peninsula's Bariatric Surgery program is awesome. They were late going into surgery, but finished with time to spare. While my friend was in recovery, they even let me hang out in her patient room, so I could watch tv and get her stuff set up. Two nurses helped to make sure she wasn't in too much pain after and were very professional.

They even have free coffee in the surgery waiting area.

Downsides are that the building is pretty old. It's a long walk from parking to the hospital and the cafeteria doesn't have a large menu plainly visible. I ended up getting a bagel and apparently, from the other reviews, I could have had PIZZA! Darn.

This is one of the most pathetic hospital I had seen so far.
The doctor has no sence about how to talk to patient who is in pain and come to the ER for a reason. The doctor on duty was very rude with me, and ignoring my stress was reluctant to try to understand the problem at hand.
I usually go to PAMF which is one of sutter health hospital and mills peninsula being under the same chain I thought it will be equally good. I was sooo mistaken, this is exactly opposite to PAMF. Sadly PAMF does not have emergency facility .

The only star goes to a nurse who was very kind with me. I guess he is aware of the behavior of the Dr. because when I expressed the desire to run out of this scary within 30 mins of gettng in, he was cool about it.

If all but Mills Peninsula ER is open, I will endure through my pain for PAMF Urgent care ot open rather than go to MP to get insulted and in worse mental state than I went it.

Went here a few weeks ago when I broke my leg. It was the middle of the day so it wasn't as crowded as it was the one time I had been there before back in 03. My friend called telling them I was coming so they made sure there was a chair on hand for me, and rather than yelling at us for being parked in an ambulance only spot, the paramedics actually helped me get out my car and into a chair. The entire staff was super friendly. One of the ER techs, nicknamed Hollywood, was smokin' hot. I got put in a nice, large shared room with a curtain separating it for privacy. One of the nurses was French and I couldn't really understand what he was saying, and the guy doing my splint had to be reminded of what the terminology meant, so that was a bit worrisome. Main reason for not getting 5 stars, though, was that it took them 2 hours to get me some pain meds, when I was registering at about 8 out 10 on the scale.  And the entire thing took about 3.5 hours, only about 30 minutes of which was actually face-to-face with medical staff. Also, there are not nearly enough parking spots for an emergency room, thusly us parking in an ambulance spot.

Honestly though, everyone was so nice it pissed me off. Because I was in pain and I wanted to focus it on someone and they just weren't giving me any reason to be mad at them.

Last Thursday, sadly, I lost my father to complications from alcoholism (liver disease and subsiquently kidney failure.)  I wanted to thank everyone from the ER, ICU, and TCU for all that they did for him.  Everyone was thorough with work ups and tests, as well as his prognosis.  He was in a liver coma, which he subsiquently came out of and lasted a week.  It all looked good with him getting back his speech, coharence, and so forth.  Dr. Alumgeer gave us the worst prognosis, but stressed that there was a chance that he could rocover.  Even Robert, one of his ICU nurses was reasuring, saying that he has seen patients fully recover; of course, he was not trying to build us up with false hopes.  Aftter taking Lachilose and some other drugs, along with his regular regiment, he was even eating.  However, last Thursday, his kidneys failed and he passed away at 5-01 that evening.  My thanks to the ER staff (Dr. Tornbe, Rubinder, and his other nurse who I cannot remember.)  I also wanted to thank Dr. Onuma and Dr. Amed for their GI work-up and proceedure to stabilize his hernia.  I also wanted to thank the ICU staff ( Karen, Robert, and the rest of the staff.)  Of course, my thanks to the TCU staff (Gene Heland, Rona, Ros Laiman; his social worker, Kelly; his case manager, Dr. Numani, and Shaaron Crosat; one of the other social workers.  The entire TCU staff was very compationate in discussing comfort care the last while of his life which we did (removing tubes and giving him morfine.)  When the moment came, everyone was wonderful, consoling my mother and I and letting us stay with him for as long as we wanted.  You guys are definitely the unsung heros who fight the good fight every day and I will forever be greatful for all that you did for him; I am sure that he is shining down on all of us, greatful for the care that he recieved.  Sure, at 29, I never thought that I would lose him at 60.  But, everyone made it a little easier to take and come to terms with.  For better or worse, you guys are my hospital for life.  Keep up the good work guys.!

Went to visit a friend of my grandma's who is here. The hospital is as nice as I remembered it to be and they're doing some serious expansion work too. The staff we came into contact with were really nice and answered questions appropriately.

I didn't give it a 5 star rating because the rooms were pretty cramped. The 2-person rooms were teenie and you feel like you're totally on top of the person in the other bed. There were 4 of us visiting and there wasn't any room for us to move around. Only 2 people could be in the room at one time for it to be somewhat comfortable. I'm used to the larger rooms at the hospitals down this way where you can accomodate about 8 people in one room without any problems.

FOR THE L&D STAFF

I had my daughter at Peninsula Hospital and they were unbelievably awesome.  Would recommend this department to anyone, especially a first time mom-to-be.

My only criticism is that after the birth, I got moved to a room that didn't have a shower.  None of the rooms have showers (only the birthing rooms do), you have to use a communal shower.  Not a big deal, but woth mentioning.

This place stinks, smell wise and attitude wise. I first volunteered here second floor SNF. This filipino nurse with some huge ass whack hair was hella weird and bi-polar and mean to me. Therefore I never went to volunteer and got little hours BUT WHO CARES. THEN, after my mom forced me to work there cuz my good friend did. BOTTOM FLOOR, the dungeon. Medical Records. My first job ever, 3 YEARS OF HELL DOWN THE DRAIN. Rude ass supervisor, we just got a new manager last year, she is dumb as hell. I quit that shithole this year and got a 328194089204 times better job in Burlingame which involves healthcare too. ALL 6 OF MY FRIENDS quit that ish cuz we all hated it. Students who worked there before hated it, we hated it.
Working there sucks, even the grownups (my co workers) thought so too.
I'm only giving you an extra star cuz you guys were nice in ICU and some other floor where my grandpa was.

Ive been to emergency several times and 3 out 4 times encountered some rude staff during the visit.I also had a rather emotional experience that would just cause rage in me if I explained what a doctor did to my infant.Just imagine a spine tap (needle drawing blood into your spine)without anesthesia when the nurse said there would be.Then he messed up twice having to do it three times.Okay Im stopping now

I heard of a patient so mistreated  there that some came to the conclusion they were wanting her organs.   The patient was young and poor and unpowerful.  Screwing up didn't explain it.  Just be careful and bring back-up.

i just had my daughter last november @ this hospital and the hospital was horriable the staff and the obgyn dr. fletcher.  i was treated horribly and i had  a 11 pound baby.  i had to use a walker for over 2 weeks to recover from this childbirth i was told before to have a c-section and the doctor made me deliver vaginally.  i have since then stopeed seeing that ob office and have switched to california pacific.  they have treated me great.  i would never ever rec. that hospital or dr. fletcher.
