How to have a perfect night cap in Jackson? Well... country dancing, cover band, and real expensive drinks, of course.
This bar has a large alcohol selection, local brews, wines and beer made for the bar itself, and awesome music. The live band was fantastic, and the people were just really hospitable.
The venue is large enough to hang out, dance, or simply socialize at. Absolutely amazing bar to check out if you are in the Jackson area. -

This is the second time I have been there. It is what it is. A bar....Love the saddles for stools at the bar. They had a great band and we met a guy that loved to dance so that was good. I was there 20 years ago and they use to make the best bloody mary's with a pickled bean in it however that was a thing of the past they don't do that anymore. Ole well it has been twenty years.. sniffle...
I was with my best gf peeps so that made it even better. Saw the best looking cowboy but he disappeared as fast as he appeared. Will go back when in Jacksonhole. Be aware you can't get pizza after midnight in that town.... Unacceptable hehe. -

First time walking into the cowboy bar on my vacation to jackson a week ago and had a great time. all the barstools are saddles and super comfterable to sit on and all the animal scenes were cool to look at. service was great and friendly. Def. recommend it.

Have been here a few times. Each time I go I swear I'm not coming back. The place is cool to look at and the bar stools are fun. From the bouncer to the bartenders, nobody is friendly here. They make you feel like they don't want you in there bar if you aren't a local. It's funny though, when you go to a local bar, and skip the tourist trap, they are more than friendly to you.

Cool bar with live music and great beer. Great combo. They offer a good selection of local beers but they don't come cheap. Of couse Jackson being the gateway to the Tetons and Yellowstone has many visitors and therefore prices are your typical 'resort robbery.' However we all had great fun. We ordered a pizza and had it delivered here (now this was an exception because kitchen was closed and we had a nice waitress willing to ask permission). There were several pool tables but it took a while for us to finagle one. Easy going vibe. Great mix of patrons and the cover band was good.

I couldn't help but go in this garish western bar when we were wandering through Jackson. It was a Wednesday night and the tables were pretty full but just a few people at the bar.
The saddles in place of bar stools were such an awesome touch. I hadn't read these reviews so I was totally surprised and loved it. I got a Fat Tire for maybe $4... I guess I'm used to Manhattan prices so I was a happy camper.
There is so much to look at - the really cool shadow box train running around the ceiling and the grizzly bear in the case were the highlights for me.
The bartender was nice and I thought the whole crowd was friendly and really happy. I must have gone on a good night! Also, the shuttle to Teton Village stops right outside every 30 minutes for $3. -

Been coming here for years, even though we hang in Teton Village when skiing, we always make the pilgrimage to the MDCB, the saddles are quite a novelty, not real comfy, but what the heck, its Jackson Hole. Drinks are plentiful and the best part is the restaurant downstairs. Love the beef. Good food comes in large portions and the price is not a deterent. ALways visit when in town.

Where else can you saddle up at the bar???!! Granted the drinks and food are overpriced, this place is a must visit based solely on the decor and western atmosphere.

(Day 11 (June 28, 2011) of our Pasadena City College field trip brought us to Jackson Hole.) After eating at the Bunnery my brother Chris and I walked inside for a couple of beers. I've been here about 6 times and only during the day. This place really has a classic western cowboy appeal, with the saddles at the bar and circle of silver dollars inlaid into the bar. I know this is tourist trap but I can never pass up having a beer here. The beer we ordered as their house beer named after the bar. It's a good tasting golden ale brewed by Grand Teton Brewing Company. The only food I've ordered here is their elk nachos, not bad but this but a little pricy. One of these years I'd like to check out a country band at night. I know the Reverend Horton Heat has played here. Now that would be a band worth seeing here.

You can't come to Jackson Hole and not stop in to the Cowboy Bar. This place is stuff of legend. Stuffed bear and deer on the wall, saddles for bar stools, and they play both types of music: Country AND Western.
We arrived for a quick meal and a beer just as the band was starting (9ish most days a week). The service is on par but the beer selection is just 'eh'. You just won't find any other place like this in the west. We didn't dine at the steakhouse so ordered a burger and a quesadilla from the small food stand at the front of the place (it is operated independently from the bar but they do deliver your food to your table). Food was prompt.
The experience is, yes touristy, but it's worth you time. -

After walking all over town and took pic's, I decided to go here for a drink and this place look like one of the oldest place in town so it a good start. The place look like a cowboy bar and it was hugh and they have local band that come in and there were alot of tourist inside.
The bar was long and each seat had a seat saddle and it was hard to sit in and very uncomfortable but i give it a plus because it give it a outdoor style. I order a snake river pale ale and it was decent and the waitress was nice and I asked for recommendation of what the best restaurant in town and he mention snake river grill(I wanted to eat at this one but they didn't open to 6pm plus it was on the best I ever eated on their eskomo pie ice cream plus the chef was selected for 2010 James Bread Award). Anyway after drinking 1 beer, I decided to go somewhere else. This place is ok -

1st night we went here, the bartenders two of them, were complete douchbags. Realizing you work in a fucking tourist spot, either A. deal with it or B. quit your fucking job. The decor is nice, they have a few pool tables and the locals that we encountered actually just one of them was nice, strange but nice. The beer is reasonably priced as it is in every bar in jackson hole. They have some cool stuff on the walls and a place you should certainly check out if you are in Jackson Hole...

Review from JASON R.
If I was a bartender here I would probably hate my job too, but I am the tourist, I am the city slicker, and I am going to read over your beer menu and make a calculated decision. I do not need you being huffy and puffy because I cannot decide from local organic ales or an India pale ale.
The bar here is absolutely beautiful, lots of history and eye candy on the inside. One of the cooler tourist traps in the area...lots of fun. -

Spacious bar with billiards, entertainment, and cheap beer
If you want to sit on a saddle and sport a cowboy hat then this is a great place to be. Didn't have food here just had a getto PBR and some good conversation with a few locals. Hey what can a girl say it was the only place in town open late on a Sunday night. Everything else seems to close pretty early

It's fun to sit on a saddle at the bar. Great western decor.

Apparently, Harrison Ford likes to hang out here, but he wasn't there the night we were. :(
The decor is, of course, Western and Cowboy. Saddles as the barstools, kitschy light fixtures, wooden decor, prints all over. There was a large light fixture in the middle of the ceiling that had rotating scenes: stagecoach, horses, cowboys, a shark... I don't really understand why the shark is there, but I really wanted that light!
We were there for quite a while: had some food, played some pool, etc. The food was good. My friend said that their buffalo burger is the best she's ever had. The drinks were cheap, albeit a bit weak. It was a great night to end a great trip. I recommend at least one trip out there. Who knows, maybe you will see Harrison Ford!Listed in: 9,000 ft.

We checked the box on our trip to Jackson Hole to visit the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Definitely the touristy thing to do, but hey... never know if you'll ever make it back to Wyoming again. We hung out long enough to have a few drinks, take obligatory photos on the saddles at the bar, and I even had a local ranch hand approach and strike up a conversation with me. Despite the fact that my wedding rings were pretty obvious and my husband was a few bar stools, er.. saddles, down from me. Bold or ignorant, I couldn't decide..... he seemed fairly taken aback when I dropped the word, "husband" and then asked how old I was. Poor kid was only 23, and he about fell out of his saddle when I revealed my age.
I'll take that as a compliment. Perhaps I should have given 5 stars..... -

Yes, its touristy (most people come in and only want to take pictures)
but i like the place
Service was ok (shortage of servers is an issue) but the atmostphere is just awesome
we played several games of pool and enjoyed the place
just wish they have more drafts on tap -

Blew a .147 in the breathalizer by the bathrooms one night - yee haw!!
yeah, its touristy but, by god I love this bar - the barstools are real saddles (I sit sidesaddle, cause I'm a lady!) and the decor is world class - taxidermied scenes of animals fighting and the festive stuffed grizzy bear with the santa hat and cane! Vintage murals of western scenes on the walls, dark redish decor, and that famous knobby wood not seen anywhere else, rounded out the scene.
we drank here on three/four days - $2.50 Miller high life's - chatty bartenders and a mixed crowd - definitely worth a couple visits, even if just to escape the radical snowboarders bra'!Listed in: Wyoming

Haven't been there in many years. most likely
tourist-ized to the max by now. But when you set
yourself in a real saddle (used as Bar Stools) and
have a circle of Silver Dollars set bar in front of
you marking your drinking space it's a one of a
kind bar experience.
Great OLD displays of Outdoor scenes. Once a
western gambling hall. -

We were in West Yellowstone for breakfast and were told "oh you gotta go to the cowboy bar on the main strip - it's so awesome" so we did.
We walked in about 4pm on Saturday Oct 30th. Not too many people. The bar tender was less than anxious to help us. There were 4 other people at the bar (it is a huge bar).
I tried to engage in some polite conversation and he couldn't wait to stop talking to us. It was weird...found out he was from someplace in Florida where he claims "it's the same in both places" meaning the stupid tourists (which I clarified...yes, that's what he meant).
Anyway, we'll try again and hopefully not have this unhappy guy as a bartender.
Went next door and had a delicious meal and beers with a super cool waitress named Sasha. It was halloween "season" and she was dressed up with these cool wings and the bartenders were dressed up like elders. Pretty fun place...need to figure out the name...GO THERE. -
Review from Joana B.
Stockton, CA
I was underwhelmed despite the ornate wooden decor. The saddles were cute, but there was only 1 waitress in a bar that can easily seat 75 thirsty tourists.
The bar has no working restaurant, they lease the space to a one man run burger shop. Do not go into this bar if you are hungry. -
Review from Don H.
Yeah, it's a cowboy bar in the same way that the place all the tourists go to in town with every single possible space covered in Irish memorabilia is an Irish Pub. It's a little over done. But it's kinda cool in a wacky sort of way, and it's huge. The bar stools are saddles, which is fun & novel for about 10 minutes, until you realize you can't turn in them, and can only comfortably face the bar, which is rather annoying for hanging out with friends. Also, they're big enough and spaced far enough apart that if there are more than 4 of you, you can't talk to the guy at the other end.
They've got 4 nice pool tables, and there's a big dance area with a stage for live bands. Also a few displays of stuffed animals, and the wood throughout is all really cool looking burled stuff. -

After riding for what seemed an eternity, we finally found ourselves in Jackson. Unable to go any further, we got a motel, and tried to find a place to eat, or a drink. since all the eateries were closed, we ended up at The Cowboy Bar.
Walking in, it was pretty obvious we were out of our element. I was suprised I didn't hear "You ain't from around here, are ya?"
Even though the bar was pretty empty, service was, at first slow, until the bartender came up, and I put on my "Ahm frum Mahtanha" accent and listed in conversation the various farms and ranches I worked at. After that, warm service, and plenty of conversation (he even pointed out to my wife the "results" of various...uh...firearm discharges in the wall and ceiling).
This is not a tourist, hipster, dive, or any other label you can think of. This is, as the name implies, a litteral cowboy bar. The drinks are strong and cheap, the clientel work the local farms and ranches. And the juke-box plays both kinds of music: Country & Western (I really doubt they would have had Black Flag on the juke box anyway).
But we had an enjoyable time. When we're in the area, we'll stop in again. -

I was expecting this place to be more of a tourist trap, what with the gift shop as soon as you walk in. All in all it wasn't a bad place.
Yes, they have saddles as bar stools. We all know that from the other reviews. Yes, we took pics of ourselves on the bar stools. No, I wasn't wearing a fannypack while taking these pictures and no you won't see those posted on here.
They make their own beer here. Or near here. I don't think there was an actually brewery on the premises. The beer reminded me a bit of Shiner Bock. An inoffensive brew. They had a good selection of other beers as well, but no taps. That was strange. I had another Snake River OB-1. I have to find that beer here in town if it ships out here.
The crowd here seemed to be more on the local side. The music playing was more Ozzy Osbourne and less Randy Travis which isn't a bad thing.
This is a good place to stop in, have a look around, grab a beer and pretend you are riding a horse while drinking that beer at the bar. Where else can you say that? -

Gives literal meaning to "saddling up to the bar". Horse saddles (with stirrups!) instead of bar stools? Awesome.
Great ambiance and a plethora of local bottled brews to choose from. This is one of those places you have to hit up to have a beer and the live music is a big plus. Also fun to watch all the cowboy hats, boots and tight jeans passing by.
However, no beer on tap and not accepting credit cards when you're one of the more expensive bars in a very touristy town knocks off two stars. Also, we paid a $5 cover after watching locals walk on in without being charged. I understand this, but again, if you don't accept credit cards, quit taking all my cash!
Great place to have a beer and snap a few photos, but I'd prefer another hangout after stopping by once or twice. -

You gotta check it out when you're in Jackson. The drinks are cheap, they have bands. There's this huge rotating light fixture with western scenes on it.
Go there for a cheap beer and to see how people should really wear wrangler jeans.
Do not eat in the steak house downstairs it was WAY overpriced and mediocre. -

Any place with a full-size gift shop should be considered a tourist attraction, which this is...but it's not a bad one! Live entertainment every night of the week, saddle barstools, and pretty good "Million Dollar" beer! If you're in town visiting, definitely stop by and have a drink or a few.
The "Would I go again?" report:
Maybe. I'm sure there are some other good local bars around town as well. -

This place is very different than most steakhouses and Iike the quant feel. It is below the actual cowboy bar. The food was pretty good. I got the filet and asked for the garlic fries and garlic spinach. The fries were good, but tasted no garlic. Apparently they put all the garlic on the spinach because I couldn't even get it down. My filet was perfectly cooked and was delicious. I am
giving it a 3 because of my side dishes were lacking and my boyfriend said his elk steak was overcooked after they specifically told him not to order it above medium, so he said medium. -

How do you not go here when you visit Jackson Hole. This is the place everyone told us we had to go and it ended up being the fist place we went. You can't miss it driving downtown with all the lights outside the bar. Inside is great and it portrays what its suppose to be: A great place to have a drink. We went here after skiing for cocktails and they had a menu with about 10 signature drinks. Who doesn't want to sit on a saddle when having a drink??? Make sure to check out the bear in the glass case. The story is pretty impressive.

"Don't squat with your spurs on!" warns the sign outside the restrooms in this bar (good advice, I'm sure). My parents came here on their cross country trip 30 years ago and, while we were told that the place has endured several fires and reconstructions, it's still hopping with tourists as well as the locals. The best part about this place is the bar stools: they're saddles, giving the phrase "saddle on up to the bar" some authenticity.
It was a slow night when we were there, but I could imagine it being lots of fun on a more crowded night. -

My roommates and I went here one night during a spring break ski trip to Jackson Hole. Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is one of those places that everyone tells you you absolutely have to go to, which we did, and weren't disappointed. A true western bar with a flashy edge, it has Morgan Silver Dollars embedded in the wood at the bar, with saddles to sit on instead of stools. It has a great selection of beers and a great ambiance. We played pool against some other college spring breakers, relaxed, and just enjoyed the experience. On our way out, we bought some shirts in the souvenir shop and continued on to see what the rest of Jackson Hole had to offer. It was definitely a good time and worth the stop.

sorta neat if you are in the area but if there isn't a band, it wasn't that great. we went for a beer and wanted some munchies and had to get some nasty nachos from the guy selling inside the place as they don't have a kitchen. i think it would be more fun if there was music and more people there but again, if there isn't something going on - i wouldn't make a point of going there. the saddle seats are neat for about 10 seconds. they're not really that comfy to sit on....
