The review is for the salmon fishing charter.

It was pricey $180 (but there was a 20% off coupon that we didn't know about in the Seward guide) but soooo fun.  We caught tons of rockfish and a few people caught some salmon (it was end of the season, july is probably the best time to go).

They do everything for you, bait, sail out, beat the fish, and use the cool fish radar.  All you gotta do is drop the line and catch something.  At the end they clean the fish for you too.

If you catch a lot, there is a small place that will freeze/can/etc all your fish and ship it out.  Somewhere on Glacier rd.

I'll give one star for the campground and three stars for the guided kayaking, so two overall.

First the campground. The surroundings and location are beautiful, but that ain't exactly hard to do in Alaska. I'm detracting lots of stars for the filthy bathrooms and lack of a drinking water spigot anywhere in the campground. The only water was from the bathroom faucet (kinda gross since the bathroom was dirty and the water was warm) or from garden hoses outside. Would've been fine for $5/night but not for $30/night.

Second the kayaking. We had a good time, but that was mostly due to the fact that we had amazing weather and calm seas, neither of which was due to Miller's Landing. Our guide was adequate (mainly just told us where to go/what to do, rather than giving lots of background on what we're seeing), but the equipment seemed a little faulty since the rudder pedals on my kayak kept coming loose, making steering a real challenge.

In all, I'd avoid the campground, but kayaking was okay.

Miller's Landing = EPIC FAIL!!! Do not stay here. The first room they gave us had dirty sheets & had not been cleaned. "Linens included" does not include towels -$3 rental fee +$5 deposit- for the showers (which will cost you $1 per 2 minutes).

Kayaking: The front desk and guide assured us it was safe to go out in Resurrection Bay for our 4 hour paddle & hike, even though the wind was kicking up, the water looked rough, and we were available to wait & go the next morning. About 45 minutes into the paddle, we encountered 4 ft swells & icy rain beating into our faces. We landed on a nearby beach for 10 minutes and then started back for camp. The water was really rough at this point & our kayak half tipped over as we relaunched, soaking our left sides. About 1/2 the way back, our guide finally radioed for somebody to come pick us up from another beach. We were back to camp in less than 2 1/2 hours. They never offered us a refund or to take us out again in the morning should the weather improve (which it did- placid as glass). :(

My family goes back to the Gold Rush in Alaska & I spent many summers working tourism here, so I know when I am getting the "Special" treatment. Maybe this is just Seward's Hospitality, but the outfits I worked for would never have treated our customers like this. We won't be staying here again.

The beds are shitty. The sheets too. The house's name is crow's nest and it literarily means it. Don't go.

BTW they try to charge you for everything.

I've never stayed in any of the rooms or cabins here - but I do know that if you're looking for luxury, just go somewhere else. This is Alaska folks. The owners are multi-generational Alaskans and have spent their lives on the water. You couldn't ask for a safer boat to be on. Whether you go kayaking in Aialik around the glaciers; which I HIGHLY recommend if you are in-shape and an adventurer, or are looking for something a little tamer- do the Sea Lion Haul-out, totally awesome. Or, get a sandwhich in the lodge and take a boat ride sight-seeing cruise with Captain Chance, he's hilarious and probably one of the most unique people you will ever meet. You will see Dolphis, porpoise, Orcas, sea-lions, jumping salmon, and plenty of sea-otters. You will see Calving glaciers and some of the most beautiful scenery ever... I dream about this place. Go there.

The Campground- If you are into mosquito mud pits then this is the place for you! The advertising looks like heaven on earth, I have to admit they got me. We showed up to find this "scenic" campground to be at the end a horrific 2 mile road WAY outside of town, no dump station, no water, and next to what looked like a waste transfer station. All the sites were uneven, full of obstacles, and mud up to your shins. So NOT what they advertised which is unfortunate since the office people are actually very nice. We ended up not staying and heading into town to the seaside city camp ground instead.

The Fishing Charter- The captain and deck hand were amazing and were infinitely patient with us newbies. They even took a side tour to watch a school of orcas swim and play. Over all a heck of a deal considering they were much cheaper than anyone else in town and didn't charge for our kids to ride along.

This review is regarding their sea adventures and, in particular, kayaking.  Matt and I made out at the end of September with a 2 for 1 special for a 4.5 hour kayak trip for a grand total of: $70.  Yes, you read that correctly, $70.  It included a brief hiking trip up to a waterfall, in addition to our abundant sitings of otters, seals, and a ton of spawning salmon.

Though this deal is remarkable even if I were kayaking off the coast of FL for that long, let alone in Alaska, what it made it even better was the fact that Miller's is locally owned.  Most of the Landings fellow competitors had already closed for the season.

We had a great time kayaking at the stunning and serene Resurrection Bay.  Our guide was enjoyable and knowledgeable, and we would certainly recommend Miller's sea adventures to others.

RV park, showers.  Rest room had only cold water. Hope showers were better.  Not a restaurant, but the office has space inside with tables, cases with packaged frozen commercial sandwiches & a few groceries.   The park seems noisy and overpriced.  They even charge for Wireless Internet  $1.00/hr.   The fee is $36 per night  for electric hookup, now sewer.  Pretty high, I think.

Located about two miles south of town, this camp ground is just close enough to be considered in Seward but set aside enough to be away from the crowds.  They have beach front and wooded sites available.  Most have electric hook ups.  They also have a laundry room, hot showers, a small gift shop, a boat ramp, fishing and kayak charters all on site.  Compared to the parking lot camping found elsewhere in Seward it is very refreshing for those of us who still enjoy camping with trees nearby.  The office is open until 11:00 pm so late a check in is not a problem.  Be sure to call ahead for reservations this campground fills up fast.

We had tons of fun as beginner kayakers with this locally run business...very personal...we got a sweet 2 for 1 special for 89$ during peak season for a 3 hour trip which included a sea taxi ride to a beautiful cove surrounded by alpine glaciers as well as a short hike. The guides were the best...very funny, well-read and they take good care of you ( they don't take more than 8 people per trip)...highly recommended!

We kayaked the midnight sun tour.  Got a great 2 for 1 deal through the Northern Lights book.  Paige was our guide and it was just the two of us for the trip.  The description was a bit misleading, as we thought we were going for an actual hike but when we got there Paige mentioned it was only about three minutes in.  No lie!  Over all, we had a blast.  We really enjoyed kayaking with Paige as it was my sister's first time kayaking and Paige was very understanding and patient.
