I'd rather give a 2.5 but you get the idea. I'm a local staying here for a conference for 4 nights. Staff have been friendly but the hotel is tired and old feeling. Furniture is worn/old, carpet is old, toilet seat in room is chipped and yucky-looking, shower curtain is tattered, no soap dishes, old TVs, door of entertainment center fell off into my hand when I opened and so on. For the price, I expect better. Food is good but pricey. Still no free wifi but am told they are upgrading soon. Had a maid knock on my door at 7pm despite a "privacy" door tag. It's nothing fancy but was reasonably clean and quiet. If you can get it for a good price, it's not too bad.

Nice hotel, for overnight stay only.  Not the greatest, but reasonable for Alaska.  We had a early flight to Seattle and this was close to the airport.
Nothing fancy by any means.  Restaurant is good, nothing fancy either.

I stay here quite often. It certainly is an upgrade to the ghetto I used to stay at across the street. I think the new management/ownership is an improvement from previous. They are lacking in the continental breakfast that is offered from all the other hotels in the area. If managment ok'd it I would be at the Holiday Inn Express in a heartbeat just because of the breakfast offered.
Like I said, it is an upgrade to what I was used to and the rooms aren't really bad (limited tv station variety) and would still recommend.

Hey Millennium.. the 1980's called.. they want all their brass toned fixtures back!  Seriously, this is a nice property, but it needs a refresh.  The rooms were larger than most hotels that I have stayed (not because the very comfy beds are doubles, not queens) with a nice entry area,  in room fridge and close proximity to the airport, The zig-zag pattern that you have to walk to get to them can make ya nauseated so you might want to take a motion sickness pill before making the walk.  The lobby is.. well, interesting with all the dead animals on display... (think Elmer Fudd going amuck with his gun).  The Flying Machine restaurant is pricy, but the view is probably worth the  added expense.

I snagged this property thru an online "name your own price" company, so the price paid was significantly less than the rack rate.  Parking was free, internet was not.  If I were to get this property again, it wouldnt be the worst thing in the world to happen to me... unless the next room has a more Dynasty/Falcon Crest look... yeah, now Im scared!

Nice room. No hair dryer. $10 for wifi. Free time on computer for check in is not enough to enter credit card for baggage. Quiet.

Not the worst hotel I've ever been in, but for being called the "Millennium Hotel" they sure as hell are operating like they're in the last one.  When I go to a hotel I'm looking for 3 major things:

1.)  Free Wireless Internet - in the year 2009 if a hotel doesn't provide you with wireless internet for free they're ripping you off.
2.)  Free continental breakfast - Seriously, how can this not be standard?
3.)  Proximity to my main destination.

Millennium Hotel failed miserably on 1 and 2.  3 they got lucky with, but overall I was very unhappy with my stay at the Millennium Hotel.  The building was old and it seemed like they weren't really keeping up with the maintenance that well either.

This is a hotel for old people.

Review is strictly for the lobby, I haven't stayed here.

I am usually not a fan of stuffed animals (the taxidermy kind, not the plush kids toys), just because...it's kind of creepy.  But the lobby of the Millennium hotel was really cool because they had literally all kinds of Alaskan animals to study and view.  Grizzlies, halibut, moose, salmon, dall sheep, caribou and more.  My dad came up here to visit me, and he got a kick out 'em, being from Ohio where they don't have that stuff at all.

There are a lot of less-than-impressed reviewers for this hotel, but I think you'd like to drop in...it's not like any other hotel in Anchorage has this in their lobbies.

This was a clean hotel, but honestly was a bit over-hyped.  Without discounts, it is normally pretty expensive for a busted A/C control...and a window AC unit.  We had 4 in our party, and the double bed option were "Double beds" not queens.  In hind sight, I would have rather stayed at the Long House Alaskan Lodge just up the road....

Their food at the restaurant was also a bit over priced....but it was good.  Sitting inside with the doors open letting in the mosquitoes was a bit of let down...but  If you are used to classy amenities...this place is one of the better places that Anchorage has to offer (from what I can tell); however, you should set your expectations that this is not the same as a hotel in most major cities...most likely due to the traditional extreme weather.

Close to the airport, also right next to the lake where small pontoon planes are constantly taking off and landing. I mean directly over the place! Kinda noisy. I prefer the Captain Cook Hotel downtown.

Rooms are adequate, although the layout of the place is odd. It's as if  additions were tacked on willy-nilly, with no regard for continuity. The lobby is full of dead animals, if you like that sort of thing.

The Flying Machine Restaurant is great. Good food, good service. The Fancy Moose Lounge also serves food, same kitchen of course. Friendly servers and stiff drinks. Prices are typically Alaskan-high.

    Just OK----But I think you're trying....

Here on work travel (and play too since I came all the way from Wash DC).  Great location--seconds from the airport, minutes to Downtown Anchorage, easy access to get onto TurnAgain Arm to heads towards Seward (for cruises--see my write up on Kenai Fjords Tours).

Reading some of the earlier postings, I think the hotel is trying to renovate.  The carpet was old and dingy but the bedding was nice with the typical white down comforting you'd except in any nice hotel these days.  Granite counter tops on the bath sinks, decent size room, clean bathroom--a little aged but clean.  Has old box TV's---flat screens are a must these days!

The lobby needs a major makeover--many stuffed dead animals and feels like a Moose Lodge from the 80s.  Didnt like either restaurant and chose not to eat here at all. Never made it past the bad menu's.

Ive had way better and way worse.  I could stay here again but would probably try something else next time.  Id say keep up the renovating Millennium and you could get there.

    Its tolerable.

I stayed at the Millenium Alaskan twice on business, and both visits have been exceptional.  I never had a better hotel experience in Anchorage.  They must be striving to keep their hotel thriving since it has been the official hotel of the Iditarod for quite some time now.  That's a bragging right I'd hate to spoil.

The lobby, while dimly lit with a rustic feel, did not feel stuffy at all.  The rooms, from my experience, were always immaculate.  They actually had a homey vibe.  In the bathroom, a vent fan with built-in heater and nightlight was a surprise creature comfort.

One gripe I have about the hotel is the layout.  It's long and somewhat narrow, and the main entrance is at one end so if your room is at the other end of the building you're in for a hike.  Fortunately there are access doors near the other end that guests can enter with their room keycard.  Also on the upside, there is ample parking space.

Another gripe was I had to pay for wireless internet access, but that could have changed.

The Millenium Alaskan is also an ideal venue for wedding receptions, conferences, and company parties.  Their catering service is the only option for food in events, and although the meals I had there were enjoyable, they were a little on the bland side.

Free airport shuttle service and close proximity to the airport are two more reasons the Millenium deserves a high rating.

This hotel is very comfortable and I would recommend to any one staying in the Anchorage area. Upon driving up to the hotel it looks like any other main stream hotel. The biggest deterrent was the AC units sticking out of every window. Upon entering the lobby there are many stuffed animals all around. My wife and I are fans of taxidermy so it was a treat. They have all kinds of Alaskan animals on display all throughout the lobby and adjoining areas. The layout and feel of the lobby was well thought out and presented well with an exceptional front desk staff. After checking in we headed to our room. After walking around for a while we felt as if we were in a maze. The hallways are laid out very oddly and get very warm as you get deeper into the hotel. I would be concerned if there was an emergency. The room was very nice with extremely comfortable beds. As stated in other posts some of the fixtures are out dated and they do still have older smaller CRT televisions, but my wife and I were here to do other things than watch TV. The only major gripe I have about the hotel is that they do not have free wireless access. The current fee is 9.95 and is a complete rip off. We have not yet been able to try the restaurant, bar, or health (hot tub) areas.

Not a fan. At all. Hallways and common areas are tired. Food from room service arrived cold. Staff was not friendly. And aside from being somewhat close to the airport, it's not close to downtown where you should stay. It is located on a little lake and you can see the sea planes take off & land however there would be no other reason to stay at this hotel.

The Flying Machine Restaurant has very good food but beware it is overpriced.  They have a very good Sunday brunch with a large selection of items such as Crab, Shrimp, Halibut and etc, but it will set you back almost $30 bucks a head.  They also serve a fabulous spread on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas but be prepared to pay though the nose, over $40 bucks a head on special occasions.

It was a nasty and dirty hotel. Staying there was not a good experience. The only thing that was good was the breakfast. I had the Banana nut muffin which was really good. But staying at the hotel wasn't worth it.

Alaska is amazing. But the towns like Anchorage and Wasilla are a bit depressing. Architecturally void. Filled with RVs, strip malls and mobile homes. But that's not the focus ... the mountains and animals are, the fishing and the hunting are, the hiking and preservation are. The Millenium might be one of the nicest hotels in Anchorage and it's priced like it. But if you are expecting a 4 star hotel with water views, you will be disappointed. The staff is pleasant and they do have laundry facilities for those of us who were camping etc. I stayed there solely for its location close to the airport and it's where my tour with Backroads began. So it was convenient. I also booked my room through American Express using my Amex points. So essentially it was free anyway. But I give it a 3. Consider it a Holiday Inn with a interesting lobby and bar ... and you will be happy. They also have a free shuttle service to the airport that will leave anytime you need it to.
