I just walked by and found this wonderful cozy place with the best massage.  I forget her name, but she rocked my world.  When the massage was over, I was floating all the way home.  This was the first of many visits to come.  The price is right!  I still can't believe it!

In general I am not one to spend the mu-la on myself. I tend to get the satisfaction out of seeing joy in someone else.

Not yesterday!

Thanks again fellow Yelpers...I found a gem!

Mill Valley Massage is outstanding. Everyone said 'no frills' and 'not a spa atmosphere' in prior reviews.  I would mostly agree with this because they don't pass out robes and slippers for you. I'll pick this place every time over a spa. It's super clean and charming.

MVM is a massage place...doing it in an oh-so-good way. My therapist, Karin (Carin, Karen, Karen...however it's spelled) took her time to work out my extremely tense back and shoulders....it's been a few years since my last massage. She put me through the ringer and I'm a little sore today, but I feel SO MUCH BETTER. I don't think I could ever do anything less than the 90 minute deep tissue massage. It's inexpensive when compared to any other place.

I can't wait to come back...I can't wait to bring my girlfriend back with me.

Good massage in a clean, no nonsense space at a very reasonable price. if you are looking to just get the knots worked out, and can do without the spa fluffing, then this is the perfect place.

When I need a massage I need one right away and I don't need to go to a spa for fancy cucumber water.  I stumbled upon MV Massage when I moved here 3 years ago.  Their philosophy is that massage is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and everyone should be able to afford a massage.
Out of 40 massages I have had  one where I was thinking "how do I tell her I like it deeper tissue."  They are consistently good, strong massages and you can always get an appointment--I hope I don't ruin that by posting this review.

I LOVE Mill Valley Massage and would recommend it to anyone. No, this isn't a Spa Atmosphere but the therapists are wonderful and I leave there feeling fantastic. Plus, how can you beat the price!?! The best massage I have had in a longtime and will keep returning to both of their locations!!

yummy!  i just moved to mill valley and am 7 months preggers.  which means i am in constant need of massages!  how happy am i to have found this affordable gem that i can also walk to???  the prenatal massage was great - Lauren spent a lot of time on my sciatica issues  - which worked like a charm.  i may be a bi-weekly fixture here!

only issue is that i arrived before my appt time and was undressed and under the covers in a heart beat - and then i waited for about 5 minutes for the massage to start.  i figured it would go to 12:20 (it was scheduled to start at 11:15 and actually started at 11:20) - but it ended at 12:15 on the nose.  5 minutes worth of massage is a lot!!

I really liked this place. I'm in sales and constantly stressed out. And I carry a heavy computer bag so my shoulders constantly hurt. I love massages, but can't really afford to go to a lux spa. But this place saved my life.

I love to get massages, but I've never been into the whole spa atmosphere. I'd rather shower at my own house, I don't care about the cucumbers in the water, etc. The only time I love that type of fru fru place is if I want to go somewhere romantic with a boyfriend (Sonoma Mission inn)

This place was perfect for me when I just wanted a good old fashioned massage. It was 60$ for a 50 min deep tissue massage. It has the resemblance of a Dr's office, but once you lay on the table, inhale the incense, and relax you can't tell.

After the massage there was no high pressure sell to buy expensive oils or lotions. They gave you a bottle of water, sorry it had no cucumbers, but there was no pressure for tip or to buy extra items which ruin the experience for me.

If you need regular massages. Go here! I'm booking my next appointment tomorrow!

The best in terms of raw massage and bodywork... You come in , go to a room, undress and wait, not spa like, but i prefer it.  The therapists are very down to earth, relaxed and  have extreme skill.  I lucked out with Tim, who was perfect; very intuitive, calming and above all else made a difference!  I could feel tension melt away, you could tell he was intune with the muscle/bone structure...kudos to you Tim your awsome!!

My wife and I went here for the first time last weekend, and was extremely impressed.

In fact my wife said it was the best deep tissue massage she ever had.

We will be regulars.  Thanks.

Great little spa-

Cheaper than most because it's not fancy fancy, but the therapists are very skilled and prices are cheap.

I recommend the hot stone massage- about $100 bucks for 1 1/2 hours...which is amazing, and you walk out feeling like you've had an entire day at the spa -----not like I would know how that feels, but I'm assuming it's " ___" good. ---So relaxing.

I don't know how they got so many fantastic massage therapists at one place.  I paid $59 for one of the best massages ever! It is my new favorite place. Thank you Mill Valley Massage.

Love love love this place. Brings home the basic fact that you really don't need the froufiness (sp?) of a spa to have a truly relaxing experience. One of the greatest massages that I've had. Their prices are unbelievable!

best bang for your buck.  i have not been to a place that offers massage for a lower rate anywhere in the US.  but here you get more than what you paid for since the massage therapists here are first rate.  i have been here a bunch of times and had all different people working on me and they have all been skilled and super friendly.  the only downside is that it is most definitely not a spa.  it looks and feels more like a dentist's office and you will not get a plush robe, tea, or a super stocked changing room/sauna.  it's no frills massage only.

great for the price. I ask for Amy for reflexology and she is very knowledgable and I feel great afterwards. I have not had better massages at very high priced spas in the area. A great resource.

I've been here twice, and have tjad wo different massage therapists -- I am a fan of deep tissue massage so both were of that technique.  A pleasant, clean and fresh environment.  Emphasis is on quality of massage not haute spa atmosphere and the results have been excellent for a good price.

OH MY GOD Mill Valley Massage is fantastic!  It is like an afternoon vacation. Just 10 minutes past the Golden Gate is the best massage I ever had.  It's not a fluffy spa massage, no no. I mean a real massage based on my needs.  (you know, lower back pain)  I have tried 3 different therapists there and they were all great.  I'm going to try them all! Best of all it only cost $54.00 for a full hour.  I think the Swedish massage is $49.00.  Anyway I highly recommend it!!

I like to get massages pretty often (a pricey habit), so when I learned about this place from a friend (1 hour massage for 56 bucks - hello!), I had to try it.  The place is clean, very calming, and smells nice.  My massage therapist took extra time to try to get the knots out of my back, was very skilled and notably pleasant.  She even let me lay there to relax when all was done (they usually kick you out quickly).  I will definitely be going back.

Best value in Marin!

I came here initially because I needed a massage and their prices were very affordable.  Even with the recent jump of $49 to $54hour for the Swedish, it's a steal.  I keep going here (even when I have extra bucks to burn) because I haven't found massages anywhere better than theirs regardless of price, ambiance, or location.  My favorite is actually a masseur, Tim, and I have been going to him regularly.  However, I have been worked on by several others they all seem to know their stuff.

Here are few important things to know:
-For the hot stone massage, you need to do an hour and a half because an hour feels very short.  The stones need to be heated, etc.
-The place only has three rooms and they are popular.  Usually if I call the same day, I end up with being the last appointment unless it is Saturday when I'm usually offered an appointment next day.
-They are open late and 7 days a week.
-Plenty of free parking spaces in the parking lot.
-There are no frills like many spas, but the facility is clean and the massage room is comfortable and they play the typical massage music
-Because there are no frills, the massage actually end up being very close to what they say it would be - I never feel like I was shorted on time
-If you need specialty massage, find out if your masseuse can do it.  My boyfriend wanted Shiatsu and was told that everyone can do it.  When he arrived at his appointment, his masseuse actually didn't.  So since he paid for a Specialty massage ($5 more), she just did some combination of what she knew.

Do not go:
If the massage is secondary to you and a spa experience/atmosphere is your # one concern.

UPDATE:  4/10/07
They just opened a location in San Rafael at C Street.  I haven't tried it yet, but maybe worth a mention.

Affordable, quality massage.  I've been going here for a couple of years and used multiple massueses and never been disappointed. You're paying for the massage not the atmosphere, as there is none. Kinda dr.'s office feel.
