3rd stop for the food coma adventure.
Ice cream sandwich that's the only thing we got. We tried vanilla and mint chocolate i like the vanilla way better! Plus i'm not a big fan of chocolate mint, who ever thought of that flavor being mixed together should be executed electrocuted or raped by 1000 maniacs!!! Anyway i love the crunchy cookie that they used and its covered with chocolate so it won't get soggy.
it was good!!! But I won't be back any time soon cause its far and its cold right now!!!
shut up!
I had to see what the big fuss was about this store that has milk bottles as their sign (which i think is so adorable I want to give it a big hug~!).
So my girls and I drove over to get some MILK lovin'. Parking was NOT pleasant as the store is located on a street corner. We had to turn into the resident area and park there.
The store offered many delights from sweet libations of shakes, soda, coffee, tea to baked goods and ice-cream. But we girls had one thing in mind...the BLUE VELVET CAKE and for me, the grasshopper due to the much appraisal of fellow yelpers.
But sadly, there were no more grasshopper, so I decided to get the ladybug which was strawberry ice-cream with mini chocolate chips mixed in, sandwiched between two pink cookies, and half dipped in chocolate. The ice-cream I have to say was pretty good as I could taste it was handmade. But the cookie was so hard and the sandwich was so big, it was kind of messy and hard to eat. The blue velvet cake was interesting since it was so bright blue. The cake was moist and the creamy frosting was sweet.
Later that night after resting off our sugar rush, one of my friends decided to leave on my wall, "I hope you enjoyed the cake. I also heard that this cake makes your poop turn blue". Ummmm....blue poo? I forgot to check this time, but maybe this will be a good excuse to eat the cake again. Sorry about the TMI.
Happy Eating~!
I've been dying to visit Milk forever due to its super cute signage. I finally got a chance the other day and was highly impressed!
First, be warned: the prices are high. I don't think there's a single item on the lunch menu that's under $10 except the kids' items. My roasted chicken breast sandwich was $11.50, and my aguafresca was I believe almost $3.
That being said, the food was incredible. The sando I got was a panini, with perfectly pressed, crispy bread and juicy chicken with a yummy pesto sauce. It came with a pretty standard mixed greens salad.
I was so tempted to purchase one of everything in their case. Milk is truly a dessert lover's paradise: red velvet cupcakes, butterscotch pudding, chocolate dipped rice krispie treats, ice cream, ice cream sandwiches...I could go on and on. Everything's super cute and classy looking, perfect to bring to a party or buy as a gift.
The service and atmosphere was also excellent. All of the servers and bussers were polite and friendly. One of the guys spied me sneaking covetous peeks at the ice cream case and tried to persuade me to sample anything I wanted. Tempting, but I was way too stuffed and headed to a dessert party. Next time, Milk, next time!
After hearing that such a thing as a Blue Velvet cake existed, my boyfriend and I decided to make a date of it: Watch "Blue Velvet" (1986) while eating Blue Velvet. It's kind of demented in retrospect, as a dude is found dead with a piece of blue velvet stuffed in his mouth, but damn is that some good cake. I love blueberries, and cream cheese frosting is right up there with buttercream in my book, so Blue Velvet was nothing less than an orgasmic explosion in my mouth. But consumer beware, as the rumors are true. It's been a few days, and I'm STILL shitting neon-blue. I'm an easy going gal, however, and just chalk it up to experience.
While there, I also tried the snickerdoodles, which were fair, just a little too crunchy for my cookie tastes. It was late in the evening, though, otherwise I suspect I would've had a yummier experience. Back to the pros, the girl behind the counter was SUPER sweet. Can't wait to go back!!
Everything, and I mean everything went up in price 20-30%.
That cookie that used to be $1? It's now $1.25
That salad that used to be $9? It's now $12-13
The special that used to be $12? It's now $14.
The soup that was $6? Now it's $6.50.
At least the red velvet poppers are still $0.75
When they raise the price of that one, I'm going to have to call it quits on this love affair.

I've already said too much about this place. But like everyone else here, I still have more to say.… Read more »
Milk is the adult ice cream truck but with better, tasier products & service for the refined big kids. No complaints. Here, just take my artieries and do what you will with them. Shower me with sugar, ice cream men/women. Bathe me in your deliciousness.
Let's get down to sweet business. One of their popular shakes is the COFFEE TOFFEE SHAKE ($6) - FTMFW! Toffee pieces in every spoonful, mouthful, in every suck of the straw. Delicious and highly recommended (share with another person please or forever hold your weight).
PASTRIES THAT ROCK
(I love nuts in my foods......)
WALNUT WHITE CHOCOLATE CRUMBLES ($1.25)
crumbles covered in chocolate goodness dusted with powered sugar. When I looked at the mountain of powered sugar crumbles, I wanted to dip my face in it ... but that would've cost me a lot of $ to buy because I'm sure no one would want it after. In every bite, you get a mouthful of walnut lovelies.
CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT MADELINE ($1.25)
Thick, moist, chocolately with bits and pieces of hazelnut in every bite. This pastry reminds me of Nutella with hazelnut pieces. Very rich and flavorful.
SO-SO ITEMS
(that could be great for you but items I do not personally crave)
MOLASSES COOKIE
texture is very sugary, taste like it should be very sweet but isn't. very rich in molasses.... still not sure how I feel about this item.
OOEY GOOEY COOKIE
just chocolate on top of chocolate and more chocolate. there is too much chocolate going on for me and less cookie/dough action
RED VELVET CUPCAKE
cake is great, frosting is great, but the RED VELVET taste is not so much in this lovely creation. I've had many RV cupcakes from various bakeries and my vote still goes to Sprinkles (only for the RV cupcake). They have the RV taste down!
RED VELVET POPPERS - mini versions of the RV cupcake for 75 cents a piece, which I thought was ingenious. Most cupcakes are the size of a meal and people who love to sample (me) would appreciate this bite-sized treat. But because the regular size is so-so, I am assuming the same for these little devils.
BUTTER PECAN COOKIE
pecan pieces are in there but nothing stands out from this cookie other than it is a cookie.
Make sure to sample their ice-cream flavors before heading out if you don't have room for anything else. They are happy to give you samples and you should be happy to receive them.
They have their own ice cream bars for $4.50/ea. (strawberry shortcake, cookies 'n cream, drumsticks, etc.) and they look scrumptious. I've yet to try but will definitely soon! The same goes for their food. All HOT-PRESSED SANDWICHES were over $10 (pricey).
Superb customer service. You got me at HELLO.
I've had a baked good or two here. Disappointing

feeling down about something? MILK will indeed lift your spirits up!
we've all heard of red velvet but BLUE VELVET?
I actually did not try it though because my friend said her poop turned blue after she ate a slice of it.. so instead......
I ordered "THE BROWNIE" sundae. Freaking heavy and chocolatey and omg you NEED to drink something with it. Two scoops of ice cream (did not know you could choose the flavors) on top of a chewy brownie decorated with whipped cream, the most delicious fudge I've ever had with caramelized pecans and a drizzle drizzle of chocolate syrup. I'm usually not a chocolate person but I was craving chocolate for some reason today and well.. that definitely satisfied my craving. DEFINITELY.
My friend ordered THE BANANA SPLIT which was also so freaking good. (but I'm a fan of banana splits so maybe i'm being biased) Three scoops of ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top. :))
Yea, it is kind of expensive to actually eat there-- $10-13 for a salad (which i heard was actually really good) but their sundaes are worth it. The sundaes range from $6.50 to like maybe $8. They give more than necessary so the amount you pay is actually the amount you get. (both a little bit too much).
That's all I tried there but hopefully I'll go back for more. :))
Let ya'll know when I do. but for now.. hope that helps!
I used to work across the street over at Angelini Osteria, and almost always went over to Milk before my shift started. I love the relaxed atmosphere of this place, and whatever you pick you know it is of better quality than all the other joints of its kind.
Ill tell you... nothing beat sitting outside drinking coffee, muching on one of their cookies and having a smoke... sometimes you have to pay for relaxation, even if it is right in front of your workplace
So tasty! Tried the chicken breast sandwich. Delicious. My mom had the Caribbean pulled pork sandwich (a special that day). Also tasty, but I preferred my choice.
Then...dessert! I tried three different types of cookies. My favorite was the molasses. It was insanely good...very sweet and butter laden...but oh so worth it. The crunch of the large sugar crystals on top was the perfect counterpoint to the chewiness of the cookie. Mmmmm. The snickerdoodle was unremarkable. The oatmeal cookie with dried fruit was dense, oaty, and not to sweet...would be good with tea or coffee.
Food prices averaged about $10-14, and the cookies were reasonably priced at $1.25. Most of the other desserts were significantly more expensive.
The cafe setting was sparse and didn't feel inviting, but the service was fine and the desserts worth a trip back!
My cousin has been hyping this place up for months, so naturally I wanted to check it out. Last week since we were in the area, my bf and I decided to stop by to grab some desserts. I had the banana dulce de leche ice cream as well as the dulce de leche cake (yes im a dulce de leche whore) while the bf had a regular ice cream. The desserts were good but it was too sweet and rich for my taste. It tasted as if I poured a whole vat of sugar in my mouth. The little shop was cute and had every delectable dessert known to man. Nonetheless, I wasn't too impressed but I guess I may have ordered the wrong thing. I'll have to try it a second time to re-evaluate.
I'd write a nice, long review if the action potentials in my neuronal axons weren't slowed down by the oh-so-amazingly-chocolatey brownies from this place.
blurgh.
It's scientifically proven - SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN - that if you eat the Blue Velvet Cake from Milk, you will have a magical and a beautiful day. Let the moist, rich, cake move you, and let the creamy frosting soothe your soul.
Okay, I might be just a little bit biased, since I'm obviously all kinds of in love with this dessert, but I'm just sayin'... XD
I had been wanting to try Milk for a long time, since some good friends of mine had some pretty happy experiences there. Los Angeles isn't far, really, but I hate those kinds of drives - and I'm a little bit too sweet for LA traffic =/. Luckily, my homeslice Rachel digs taking the drive, and was down for lunch in the city!
I'm glad I was able to reign myself in pretty well, guys, because I could've spent an entirely inappropriately grotesque amount of money on just..food. From Milk, clearly. I started with the Media Noche sandwich. I really dug the blend of flavors - and the sandwich was especially nice with the field greens salad that they served alongside. :)
For dessert I had, of course, the Blue Velvet Cake. It could be the obscene amounts of blue food coloring that they must need to use to achieve the electric-blue hue of the cake, but SOMETHING made it hella moist and delicious. :) That's all I can pretty much say about it - they give you a huge slice, and it's definitely worth the try.
I also nibbled on my friend's molasses cookie. First that I had ever tried, and it was notably yummy.
I kind of can't wait to visit Milk again for one of their shakes. At least I'm getting my money's worth with my newly-renewed gym membership *sigh*.
A tad pricey for mediocre food. The veggie sandwich was eh. I guess the veggie sandwich's saving grace was the fact that it was stacked with goat cheese. If it weren't for the goat cheese I think I would have no other choice than to give this joint a one star rating. The spattering of leaves doused in dressing they call a salad was deplorable, to say the least. I also ordered a side of mac n' cheese...pretty gross. It is as if they nuked a piece of velveeta and threw it atop a mound of macaroni. I definitely had the Kraft blue box blues after eating that crap.
Dessert was decent. Ordered a mint n' chip ice cream sandwich, and it almost hit the spot. I say almost because all I could think of while eating it was the Tollhouse brand they sell at the University vending machine. I'd recommend people try it for themselves, as for me I think I've had my fill of milk. Turns out I may be....
LACTOSE INTOLERANT
i love it. from their cobb salads (AWESOME) to their blue velvet cake (it will turn your shit blue for about 2 days minimum) ~ and even their soups!
I LOVE MILK. funnily, I've never gotten their milk.
$$ it's not your fast food store... it looks like a small sitdown... but boutique cafe style~
If there was an ethnographic study of the Fairfax District, this place would figure centrally. The title would be something like "Not Coming of Age on Beverly Boulevard." The restaurant looks incongruous standing prominently on a corner of the south end of this rundown area.
They do serve milk in large quantities and had a large number of crates stacked up by the counter. Their stock in trade is mostly cake, more cake, ice cream, cookies and some sandwiches.
The clientele seemed to be mostly small groups of mothers with SUVlike baby strollers and young couples goggling at the cupcakes like oversized children. I felt out of place but it was worth a visit. There was an impressive display of baked goods, including what I think of as Dennis Hopper Birthday Cake (well, it's blue).
I drank a cup of average coffee outside with my friend while watching the passersby, mostly Orthodox Jews who probably never set foot inside.
Nice stop on your way down Beverly.
Have made it in a half dozen times and left happy each time.
I just wish it was easy to catch a table outside, little to limited
for outdoors in LA sun.
I had a pork sandwich the last time, was not bad.
Could have used more of a spice kink for my taste though.
Like most places as you start to get into that area down to
beverly center..Get there early for parking.
Sooo good! They make everything themselves!
There are so many delicious ice cream flavors.
My boyfriend and I shared a banana split, oh the nostalgia. It has a scoop of banana ice cream in it that is to die for.
This place is a heavenly boutique of sweets. It has created cravings in me which I never knew exisited.
Milk...ohh Milk
How i love thee so...
I was in the hood, and decided i NEEDED to stop by and at least look at the blue velvet cake. It looked EXACTLY like the pictures, but I'm not a huge fan of the Velvet cake family, so i didn't try any.
What i DID try, and I'm so glad i did, was the Mint chocolate crunch milkshake. It was a 6 dollar shake, and the the whole time i was in the shop i was wondering is this really going to be worth my 6 dollars?
The answer: Yes
I HIGHLY suggest if you get this to go, to take the lid off and eat it with a spoon. PLEASE don't drink this through a straw, you'll be disappointed. But once i took that top off and dug in with my spoon. My taste buds were sooo happy! They use some AMAZING whipped cream, i actually had to stop and examine it to see if it was whipped cream or ice cream! It was so thick and cold and delicious! They MUST have put a huge scoop of ice cream on top of the shake then topped it with AMAZING whipped cream.
It was like eating a root beer float, but it was a milkshake float!
Every bite was really great, they topped it off with a malted milk ball which i thought was really cute. I loved this milkshake and if my budget would allow it id make the 2 hour drive every day to get another 6 dollar shake!!
Magic. That's what Milk's alter/ego is. Pure harmonious blends of flavors and savory mix-ins for their shakes. I never had their food, because their milshakes were too good for me to bother indulging in anything else.
I used to work at cold stone, and that means I jizz ice cream on the daily. I'm a big ice cream fan, but an even bigger ice-cream mix-in lover. Boy oh boy the texturous ecstacy of pistachios in a sweet cream ice cream with cookie dough bites and caramel swirls provides such delights I don't understand how one can't leave Milk high. The ice cream there takes me to another level, and for that, I recommend going there on a bad day, good-day-gone-better night, or random adventure with my friends.
Cause my friends, this milk is definetly on the sweeter side of the grass [and sure as hell tastes good when you're on the GREEner side...if you know what I mean, teehee]
Milk does a body good.... or bad depending on how you look at it.
My tastebuds LOVE milk. My love handles beg for mercy.
The first time I heard about Milk, was when a friend of a friend brought us a bright BLUE cake.I like the color blue. I like it for the sky, for a shirt, and for eyeballs. Now, I don't know about you, but anything truly blue when it comes to food does not appeal to me save for blueberries. Maybe it's b/c it's so ultimately fake looking.
So anyway, back to this bright blue cake. Curiosity led my fork to take a chunk outta it, and put it in my mouth. YOWZA! Moist, soft, yummy sweetness with bursts of blueberry made me absolutely bonkers for more. Who knew i'd like blue food?? So I had to make a trek to this so-called Milk. Dreaming of a factory with Willa Wonka in a scientific lab of sorts, finding the right blue for this out-of-this-world cake, I went expecting greatness.
Now it wasn't far from that. The outside was fantastic, their branding is genius..the place itself wasn't spectacular, but not too bad... organic looking, with outdoor seating, it was definitely right up my alley. I ordered the red velvet cupcake, and the blue velvet cake again, and by the end of it, I was so high on sugar, I had to down a large cup of milk to prevent myself from jumping off the walls.
Surprisingly, and the one negative was that the milk they gave me was luke warm. Now a place called Milk, I'd just assume that their milk is some kind of milk from another planet..say from Texas where the cows are black and white and chomping on green hills..but no doubt this milk was straight from Albertson's and was sitting out too long. Just saying. Get your milk right if you're gonna be named as such.
Overall, though, a great experience and place to take your out of towner friends to show them how cool LA is!
I tried the Blue Velvet Cake for the first time yesterday and I am in love! :) I am officially converting from a red velvet lover to a blue velvet lover. haha MILK has a great selection of desserts & sandwiches. All the desserts looked super yummy, but upon coming here, my heart was set on trying the blue velvet! It definitely lived up to the expectations. It's rich, moist, & even has blueberries in it! I would recommend buying some MILK to eat with this though. hahaha b/c it got a little too sweet near the end. perhaps that's why the place is called MILK...hmmm. haha I also ordered the strawberry shortcake bar. I liked the ice cream in the bar, but the white chocolate outside was too sweet.
The prices are a little bit steep. A slice of the blue velvet was $5 and the bar was $4.50. I think the blue velvet is worth it, but not sure about the rest. The milkshakes were $6+! Yikes! Either way, I would definitely take my friends back just to try the blue velvet!
AND PST...the rumors are true! ;)
It's a little bit ridiculous how happy the smallest things make me. I was grinning from ear to ear after taking the first bite of my Coffee Toffee Ice Cream Sandwich. I saw them on the MILK website before visiting the store and immediately knew that it was what I wanted. 2 giant French Macarons sandwiching a generous helping of ice cream!!!! How brilliant is that? I don't know how I did not think of something so genius and delicious. I ADORE French macarons and ice cream so it was a heavenly combination. I looked at some of their other goodies, took a bite of their 3x chocolate cake which was deliciously rich, but I'm pretty sure these Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches will remain my favorite thing at MILK. Can't wait to try other flavors on future visits.
A definite must go for anyone with a sweet tooth. Heck, go even if you don't have a sweet tooth. The little milk bottle logo is just too cute to resist.
I don't know if Yelp hyped up my expectations of Milk but I walked away unimpressed. The decor and atmosphere of the place is very cute and fun; I love that you can watch them create their cakes and cupcakes in the back. With that said however, I thought their ice cream was sub-par (SF ones kill!). We had the hazelnut ice cream, drumstick, and the espresso a la mode. I thought that the biggest flaw was that their ice cream was melty and runny. I like my ice cream creamy and frozen! The espresso a la mode was decent but nothing inventive (something I could totally create at home). Plus, for the price, definitely not worth it! I guess Milk is a great place to sit outside on a nice day and do some people-watching and stuff, but don't expect the food to wow. I'm willing to give it another shot sometime since it has such great reviews on Yelp though!
P.S. As with all LA areas, parking is notoriously hard, so be prepared!
Maybe it's because I've been dying to go here for months or because Yelp hyped up my expectations to unreasonable heights, but my first time at Milk was just a little bit disappointing. I came here after going to The Counter for dinner and I was a little underwhelmed by the choices. I opted out of trying the blue velvet cake for a mint chocolate crunch shake. It was good, but a little too sweet. They definitely did a good job of trying to make up for the high price, though -- the whipped cream on top was thick and delicious, and the chocolate chips and crunchy bits at the bottom made for an interesting combination.
Surprisingly, the best thing I tried was the strawberry milk my friend ordered. It was milk with real strawberry bits in it. Strange? A little, but good nonetheless. Next time I come back I'll definitely try the blue velvet cake.
I tried to get a pumpkin pie at Milk yesterday & was first told "yes, we do have 1 more." As I proceeded to pay (the order was already rung into the register), another attendant came out and I was told "no, I'm sorry that belongs to someone else." Seriously frustrated, I just said "forget it' and decided not to purchase a single thing there. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! Disorganized, poor customer service will make any establishment fail. I will surely never return.
I can imagine every lactose-intolerant person refusing to even drive by Milk (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) on name alone. Not only that, I can vividly imagine the bouts of spontaneous diarrhea occurring by the other innocents that pass here accidentally, as well. That's ok - their loss is my gain (especially in the weight department).
It was pretty packed but the line kept moving and the people behind the counter were rather patient and helpful.
What did we have that was so damn good?

On one hand, I want Milk to open up shop in SD. Then again, on the other, I kinda hope they don't. If they do, then I'm definitely going to have to ride my bike a minimum of 200 miles a month to keep my burrito/ice cream belly in check.
They say Milk does a body good. Well, if you come here often and don't exercise, nothing good will happen to your body. Your taste buds will thank you though your ass (and/or your gut) will curse you UNTIL THE DAY YOU DIE.
A place that sells novel things to me. I mainly wanted to come here for the blue velvet cake, but I ended up getting more items from the menu. There's always lots of people and a long line so you know this place must be good.
My group ordered 4 different sandwiches from the menu and they were all pretty good. I got the Media Noche. They all came with salad. The dressing seemed kinda strong--I didn't like it too much. The sandwich itself was pretty tasty but I don't think it was worth $9. I would recommend eating somewhere else, then coming to Milk for dessert. All the dessert food items looked delicious.
With that said, I had a strawberry shortcake milkshake--GOOD.
I also had a slice of blue velvet cake--GOOD (rumor has it that you will have blue velvet poop, haha).
Definitely a good place to check out. Not 5 stars because the sandwiches are expensive. Lastly, parking sucked! Hope you get lucky.
Someone must've heard me complain today because when I walked in and saw that their sandwiches were $11.50 (not $9 as I saw on their website), I was a bit shocked. Well, yeah, I swear last night I checked their site & the items on the menu were cheaper. Oh well. Hard economic times?
Anyways, a friend of mine recommended that I try this place since he knows how much I love sweets. We walked in & it was pretty crowded. It's such a small restaurant with too many people inside. I was having trouble moving my stroller around. My boyfriend & I split the 1/2 lb burger. It cost us $13.50. "It better be good for what it's worth," he said. We sat outside since it was too crowded inside, and our food was delivered to our table. The burger was pretty delicious, more than what I expected, however the salad it was served with was just..okay. Overall I give that meal a 3/5 stars. I would like to try something besides a sandwich next time. My boyfriend's the burger lover so I really didn't have a choice.
But what makes me give this place 4 stars is their dessert! (the main reason why I came). Blue velvet...wow. That cake is just something else! Those blueberries...mmm...and cream cheese frosting x) That was some good stuff. It cost $5/slice (pretty pricey). I also tried their red velvet cupcake ($3.75 or $.75 for a mini). DEEEELISH! Good flavor, and the icing was creamy & sweeeeet. This had to be one of my favorites out of all the red velvets I've tried, definitely. My friend ordered a banana peanut malt & it was great. I love bananas, I love peanuts. Put the two together, and it's even better! My favorite out of all them was the ice cream sandwich (DROOL). Wow. I had two oatmeal cookies with cookies & cream ice cream inside. WOW. WOW. Heaven. Those cookies are soooo soft, chewy, flavorful...I don't like ice cream sandwiches to be hard; but theirs was perfect is the best I've ever had. My boyfriend doesn't really like to eat cookies or ice cream much, but he tried this & couldn't stop asking for another bite. He loved it. "BOMBBBB.." he kept saying. So.. I need to go back & have another one soon!!
Overall, I liked this place. Pretty expensive food, but the desserts will have me coming back.
Okay, the ice cream sandwiches are AMAZING. I first tried one at Cinefamily, during the intermission of a screening. Wow, it was love at first bite. Lame joke. But anyway, the chocolate/vanilla sauce drizzled on top of French macaron cookies with luscious vanilla ice cream in the middle.. It took me back to this summer when my boyfriend's mom brought me macarons from Laduree after going on a trip to Paris.
It makes my mouth water just thinking about these cookies.. and with the ice cream inside.. omg. We went to Milk tonight in search of more ice cream sandwiches.. got 2 to go. While we were there I tried the chocolate & mint ice cream on a sugar cone. The ice cream was delicious but it didn't compare to the ice cream sandwich.. more like 4 stars.
I tried the Grasshopper version last night- whoa, AMAZING. Green fluffy cookie macaron with half chocolate sauce dripped on top.. delicious mint choco chip inside. I am seriously obsessed with these things.. is this what love is like? I think my heart stopped when I found out the new burger place, Umami, has them.. that place is around the corner from my house. Ice cream sandwich day will now be every day.
Gosh, what happened? I've been wanting to try this place forever and finally made it there. Maybe it's because I went close to closing time but I was sad. They hardly had any desserts out and it was dark inside.
BUT I will say, they have really tasty ice creams. The banana de leche was sooooo good. Had some cookies, eh ok. Had some cupcakes, eh ok. Just ok.
Other than that, not impressed so much.
Vanilla ice cream, watermelon ice cream and a blue velvet cake. How can you not love this place when it has so many good things here. The ice creams available are just what ice cream should be, smooth and creamy with lots of flavor. I have no complaints about the ice cream and would definitely come back for more.
The blue velvet cake is the main reason why I came here. It's not a chocolate cake with blue food coloring. It's a blueberry cake with blue food coloring with hints of real blueberries and an awesome cream cheese frosting. The cake will give you blue teeth and a blue tongue but it's all worth it. The place is just screaming fun, fun, FUN! I had such a blast here when outside was 90 plus degrees. Inside was air conditioned and smiles all throughout. That blue velvet cake is definitely on my hot list and I would be telling everyone all about it.
Milk has a very cute logo. Other than that? It was just O.K.
The baked goods are priced reasonably, and everything looks good, but taste-wise, it's just mediocre.
Nothing wrong with this place - just nothing great about it.
We tried as assortment of goodies, and all were fine. Nothing spectacular, and nothing horrible. Just middle of the road.
:-)
A friend and I shared the ooey-gooey hot fudge sundae only we substituted the coconut ice cream for banana dulce de leche ice cream. The cookies were fresh from the oven and steaming hot. The ice cream was pretty good (I still prefer Bi-rite).
All in all, considering how busy Milk was on a Thursday night, I'm surprised that most of LA is so thin.
really? 5 bucks for a below average ice cream bar?
i dont mind paying 20 bucks for an ice cream bar (does that exist?) but the price must justify the taste/quality.
the strawberry shortcake ice cream bar looks like it would be amazing but honestly you'd find something better strolling down the ice cream aisle @ your local grocery store .
i also tried the red velvet poppers. boring.
i will say though that presentation wise everything looks delicious, but dont be fooled.
I have three words for you: Blue Velvet Cake. OMFG! This slice of cake was so effing amazing. It was a refreshing twist on the classic red velvet cake. Be warned though, it's super decadent and "I'm just going to get cavities thinking about it" sweet. But paired with a cup of black coffee, it was divine. The cake is blue, like BLUE blue. Like the color of the Caribbean Sea x 10 blue. The cream cheese frosting between the layers of fluffy cake contained fresh blueberries. I love that the sides of the cake were decorated with cake crumbs. So pretty!
I also got to sneak in a couple bites of my friend's croissant bread puddling (served a la mode w/ vanilla ice cream). It was a dish Paula Dean would be proud of. Every bite was filled with buttery richness. Sooooo good.
I really wanted to try their homemade ice cream cone sundaes, but I was too full. Next time....
After a long stressful day, there is nothing better than indulging MILK's brownie sundae. The combination of the warm double fudged brownie and the cold chocolate and vanilla ice cream, creates a unbelieveable experience in your mouth! To top it off the gooey hot chocolate fudge and their whip cream makes it my favorite ice cream sundae in the world! Besides their delicious ice creams, the cupcakes and cookies are amazing!
Whenever you are in the mood to indulge in sweets, you should stop by MILK.
Milk is great!
Their Caesar salad is really great, but I suggest maybe asking them to hold the dressing a little bit (they put a lot on)!
If you're feeling a little more adventurous, their Crispy Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans is SO amazing!
My problem with Milk...the two things (above) that I do order are so good that I can't venture out to order much more. Oh and the paninis are really good too :)
Wow, the 601st review! I have walked by here countless times, over 50 I am sure and refused to stop and give into the hype, or I just was not hungry after margarita's at El Coyote nearby, still my favorite watering hole, no matter what the rest of LA is saying these days.
Anyway, tonight we decided to at least walk in. The previous night we were craving a Fudge Cake Sundae from Bob's Big Boy (even though I have not had one since I was a child, but somehow it popped into my head and I pulled up a picture and shared it, and then we both had a craving)....back to MILK...noticed a fudge brownie sundae on the menu and it sounded similar to the Bob's Big Boy dessert I remembered...gave it a shot, plus a few of the white powder sugar cookies they call Walnut Crumb Cookies...yummo these cookies...I actually ordered them to go but they did not make it while I waited on the Sundae. The Fudge Sundae showed up and was a little small for $6.50 but was soooooo good. Double yummo! Next time I would ask for all vanilla instead of a chocolate and vanilla scoop. The brownie was perfect in flavor, texture, moist and utter goodness. The hot fudge was tasty!
The latte was quite possibly the most perfect latte I have had in quite some time. Ordered a red velvet cupcake to go as well, but have not tasted it yet. I'll add on to this tomorrow after tasting. Well, after finally walking in...I am a fan of MILK.
