6 reviews for Miles & Tisch Eye Care
With its convenient midtown West location, it's hard to not to want to hit up M&T for your everyday eyecare needs. The doctors are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and if you wear contacts, you often walk away with a box of contact solution goodies. The staff is also very sweet, though not always helpful; and no matter how many people they have working here (and sometimes they have up to 6) it always seems to be understaffed.
All patient perscriptions are kept in old-school paper filing format, so locating perscriptions is a challenge in itself. With so much traffic coming and going all the time, it becomes nearly impossible not to fall behind.. I felt bad for them until I realized waiting-waiting-waiting was consistently the experience at M&T.
Yesterday, I had to wait nearly 20 minutes to have them locate my perscription again when I had called earlier in the day and have them sat aside. I wouldn't go as far as blaming them, but as a consultant, I'd recommend a systems overhaul (so perscriptions can be easily accessed in electronic format) and an expansion for all the overflowing glasses, traffic and frazzled staff members in the store.
i'm a huge fan, especially of the selection of frames and Brad's help to pick out the best frames. i'm still wearing my frames he chose for me 3 years ago (and i usually buy new frames once a year). both times i bought frames, Brad called me up in a few days to tell me the glasses were ready, and they also readjusted them for free, no appointment necessary when the 1st pair needed to be tightened up.
i live in SF now and can't find a good eye doctor to go to; it's just too bad the commute to Miles and Tische Eyecare is so dang far now. . .
I've always had great experiences at Miles and Tisch! I have been going here forever, and still go when I am back in NY. Dr. Miles is great, as is Dr. Tisch, and Brad is super helpful when trying to pick out the perfect frames. It's definitely busy during lunchtime, but they always try to take care of all of your needs and get you back to work as quickly as you need. They call when your glasses are ready, and I've never had any problems with the service. Plus, all of my friends think Dr. Tisch is dreamy . . .
Listen to the reviewers here: avoid this place.
I didn't mind the receptionists and front desk staff at all. In fact, most of them were extremely pleasant. Until they screwed over my insurance, but we'll get to that later.
I wasn't impressed with the optometrist at all. I would specify who he was by name, but he didn't bother giving it to me. He seemed annoyed by basic questions, and was condescending in his responses. He also completely tuned out what was said to him and rushed through the eye exam at the speed of light.
I didn't even get glasses, after all that. Before I went for the visit, I confirmed and reconfirmed, several times, that my exam and glasses would be covered by my insurance. They assured me that it was fine. They looked me up on their computer and called my insurance. Free exam, free glasses, no fine print. Fast forward to the end of the visit, when I was told that my "covered" glasses would cost me $280. Not cool at all.
On a positive note, they gave me a copy of my prescription immediately, and I was able to find much less expensive glasses online, so the afternoon wasn't completely wasted. Would I waste my time at this place again, though? Not a chance.
Very bad service! Don't be suckered by the convenient location! Small, chaotic office always seems understaffed with no one to help. Worst part is after you order - once you've paid, they completely ignore you.
I had to keep calling back to check if my glasses had come in. They promised 1 week. After calling them every few days for the last 5 weeks (no exaggeration), they still keep saying "don't worry, it'll be a couple more days". This is not the way to do business.
Small and always crowded. However, I've been to quite a few eye doctors' offices and this one by far has the most modern technology. Instead of pictures taken, they shoot some kind of light to obtain an image at the back of your eyes.
Doctor Miles is very nice, and staffs were often preoccupied but pleasant to deal with as well. Because of the small size, they don't have a good selection of frames..
