As far as a park goes - what more could you ask for??? So many sports - golf, softball, soccer, basketball, squash.... great walking biking and running trails, duck pond, SPACE, picnicing. There are parties, reunions, and still room for more.
It's a wonderful place. -

BBQ. Golf. Walk the dog. Jog.
These are the 4 things I like to take advantage of here. Although this park is surrounded by intersections and businesses, its still well maintained and wonderful. I have great memories of bbqing here with the family and having picnics. The weekends are busy so you need to come early to call dibs on a grill. There are also some tables provided in certain areas.
During the days, I like to take my shiba inu for walks here or jog around the entire park. The only thing that bothers me is you have those gawkers in the car driving by staring.
When the sun is about to go down, I like to go for 9 hole play of golf. You think it would be ghetto but it is actually quite nice.
People can easily talk trash about this place, but I am thankful that a place like this exists in a busy area. Its an escape and a beautiful park. It's well kept but is there to enjoy as well. Not just to look at or where you are not allowed on the grass. -

Love this Park!! 4 miles!! Ones mile each way, are you down? I am!
I try and run here every time I visit my mom. I atleast try and run before or after I eat because for sure there will be a feast at my house.
This park is beautiful and always active. People are always running no matter what, rain or shine this park is always full. Every city should have a park this beautiful. Every time I come here I know I will have a good work out because I am almost forced to run the entire thing.
This park is perfect to take a stroll, play golf, have a kids party, walk your dog, or work out. You will find people of all ages running here, so don't feel intimidated to come run. -

Each side really is one mile! I've been training for Tough Mudder by running around the perimeter of the whole park through the months and every day it's beautiful with fresh air(well minus all those car fumes) and people enjoying life. The middle of the park seems endless because it's easy to get lost on the long paths and more trees than a monkey would know what to do with- even includes archery range & golf course.

I run here sometimes. At least twice a month, sometimes as many as 6 or 7 times a month. This is a great little park and sadly, it has become a dumping ground for abandoning man's best friend. I found a little puppy here about a year ago and chased him down and took him home. He is a truly wonderful little dog and I love him, but since then, I have seen two other dogs that have been abadoned there, and the people who work the park have told me that they have seen people abandon dogs here. So, this is a great park and I love running here, but DON'T dump your dog here people.

Great park. Easiest place to run because you know the distance (a mile each side!). You can get creative with your running path and take the winding trails within the park or just do the standard perimeter track.
They have pretty ponds and great picnic areas and even a field that is fenced off for archery should that suit your fancy. Want to throw a more formal party? Go visit the conference room/banquet hall they have on the Warner side of the park. Golf course is also available.
Get bored of the park? Just stop by the donut shop, Subway, Yogurt Passion, Starbucks, Dennys or Albertsons for a fix. It'll motivate you to get right back to the park and run. Don't worry if you feel sick or pass out. FV Regional Hospital is just around the corner at Euclid and Warner too. Need to fill a prescription? Stop by Walgreens and they'll say come back in 30 minutes, which gives you plenty of time to complete a fast and flat 5k.
It's convenient! -
Review from Kevin N.
The ideal runner's park. Just run around the borders and you'll have run 4 miles. A nice spacious park with plenty of parking on the sides. Also, they have a golfing range and a country club in the center of the park. Also, there are multiple ponds for all you duck lovers. Overall, a great park with plenty of shade, take the dogs and the kids here.

When I was younger, I thought this park was the biggest park ever and that I'd get lost if I explored the park. Luckily, I'm now an adult who has a better sense of direction and I think I've got this park down pretty well. I've been going to this park basically my whole life. I used to come here and feed the ducks bread with my Dad and brother.
Now, my reasons for coming to Mile Square include, running, bicycling and bringing my nieces/nephew to the playground. I highly recommend exercising in the morning here because exercising is healthy, and doing it at Mile Square is even healthier for you! On the Brookhurst Street side of the park, there is a big section that was newly remodeled (I believe a year or two ago) and it looks great! New fields of grass for sports, a running/biking trail, and great playground for kids. Come here for your picnics or to hang with family and friends.
Spend your time here in the day, I heard the freaks come out at night o.o -

OC's runner central
Golfing, running, fishing and much more. No matter the case mile square has something to fill your outdoor needs. Taking up one square mile, it has basketball and tennis courts, multiple ponds to relax next to, a full golf course with no membership needs and a driving range to perfect your drive along with trails to run on! Boy oh boy Mile Square does not waste any square inch of their land. -
Review from Susan P.
I love Mile Square Park! Mile Square Park is the park that all parks dream to be! I lived near it for 15 years, and it was maybe two blocks for my old house, so I went here often! Whether it was impromtu picnics, work out sessions, going to the archery range or just to sitting by the lake and watching the ducks...it was/is awesome!
Mile Square Park has just about everything, but please don't go at night when it is super dark?! There are always stories about people going at night and getting roughed up! Anything that vast and that dark is not safe at night! (I'm talking about the park on the inside, not the well lit recreational areas that has staff.) Also, if you can don't park there or on the street near it either! I've seen cars get hit or broken into in broad daylight. Just park in the neighborhoods right across the street!? Save yourself some cash, headaches AND get some exercise! :) -
Review from Roy E.
Mile Square Park is huge and is actually the size it says it is in it's name. We came here after having breakfast at Omelette House to walk off our new found weight gain! It was my first time here but the park is a great spot to walk through or jog around. The park has several bbq locations and provides plenty of shady areas to set up for a day out with the family.
M.S.R.P has a body of water located centrally within the park and offers paddle boats that you can rent. There is also a bike rental service that provides standard bicycle in addition to four seaters. We had a blast watching a few groups of people in these four seaters attempting to go up a particular hill. Some made it and some stopped and subsequently rolled backwards down hill. They seem like a lot of fun.
This park seems like a cool place for visitors looking for a park environment. There is plenty of space and there is plenty of paths to walk and bike ride on. -

Great local park in OC!
Having the distance of 4 miles all the way around the whole park (hence the name "Mile Square" park) its one of my favorite places to get my cardio fix without driving anywhere. Great open trails (cement, street pavement or grass) with plenty of space to jog, power walk, walk your dog, or ride your bike (roadies or cruising)
The park is huge with different sections of the park (depending on which side/street you are on)They have Basketball courts, Tennis courts, Racketball/Handball courts, Baseball field, Golf course, Driving range, Playgrounds, Man-made fishing lake and plenty of BBQ/bench spots.
Weekends can be crazy with all the family BBQ's and/or events. but weekdays are very calm. Parking is mostly along the streets or some sides have a parking lot. -

I love this park.....especially its only a few blocks away from where i live.
Great place for having BBQ with the family, fishing (good luck with that),walk your dog, go for a run, take a cruise around with your bike, play tennis, go golfing, play basketballs, or send your children to boy & girl club.
As for me, I like to take my dog here once or twice a week here and he loves it. I just wish there a doggie area for this park. But still i can see there are other owners bring their dogs here as well.
There are plenty of activities to do here. Its great to have a nice park to have nearby. I always have an excuse to get out of the house and get some sun on my skin. -

Solid place for running, biking, roller blading, golfing, tennis, basketball, and pretty much you name it. Can be a little sketchy at night, be careful after dark.

Review from Peter T.
A great park in a great city. Like hundreds of other people, I go running here. The park has grass on much of the perimeter, and runners have created "trails" thru much of it. It's definitely runner friendly, as there's not a lot of concrete that needs to be ran thru. The park, like Fountain Valley, is very flat, so don't expect to get any hill training done here.
The park itself features lakes, softball fields, plenty of grassland, even an archery area. On the Brookhurst side, there are handball courts and Bball courts. Bathrooms are aplenty throughout the park. There is a lot of on-street parking, particularly on Euclid and Edinger for those who want to avoid the regional park parking fees.
Overall, a welcome Oasis to the sprawl of the Fountain Valley/Westminster area. -

Very nice. Fed the ducks although we did end up seeing a sign that said not to. Fed a squirrel who came surprisingly close. He loved the cherrios.
It was really sad though to see a duck with fishing line stuck around his leg. He got stuck. So myself n another guy cut him loose. (enter superwoman music).
If your gonna fish here, PLEASE take your string with you... -

Great park. I brought my dog here to meet up with some coworkers yesterday and Suki had a great time. There were plenty of picnic tables and we had a BBQ. They even have a sink next to the picnic tables for prep work. Pretty cool.
Each side of this park is a mile long. All four sides equal 4 miles or if you multiply for area, you get a mile square, get it? The park is nicely kept and gets plenty of action from the locals. Great place to have a celebration or kick a ball around. Dogs are welcome but they have to be on-leash.Listed in: Suki-approved places (Suki is…

I love walking all 4 miles of this bitch.
Good: It literally is a square that makes a perfect mile on each side. This park has freaking everything but I just go around it all. You can customize your own workout here & no one looks at you funny. I like the old Asian people because 1. they're faster than me & 2. they always say Good Morning!
Shit that irritates me: Some people on their bikes are assholes because they'd rather you walk on the side of the sidewalk to the point where you're on the grass because their cheap ass tires can't roll on it. I HATE the smell of delicious bbq from picnics & some Chinese restaurant on Euclid/Warner that I can't eat because I'm trying to WORK FUCKING OUT! Also there's nothing like passing by a 2 year old's birthday party that's playing BIRTHDAY SEX by Jeremith. Gotta start 'em early I guess!
Everyone's pretty nice and keeps to themselves in the morning / early afternoon. LADIES: Don't be stupid! Jog WITH someone and don't jog late obviously! I would just avoid the bathrooms altogether. -

Mile Square Park is in Fountain Valley, AKA "A Nice Place to Live".
Why is it nice? Because we have a park that's perfectly square.
And because it's square, I know that I'm running 4 miles when I come jog here. That makes keeping track of my work out progress a little bit easier.
Other highlights:
Nice indoor racquetball court at the recreation center, but hours aren't long enough. Also, it costs $10 per hour to play.
Basketball courts - it can get violent out there. There's quite a few cholos and other ruffians that come out to play from time to time which makes playing ball a little less appealing.Listed in: Best of FV (Aka a nice place…

I'm here every week for coed volleyball...and in the 10+ years I've been coming to this park, they've made amazing improvements in that time.
It's a really well maintained park and it's getting better even still. Parking is a billion times improved (except for when they have the park concerts in summer)...and lighting is really adequate during peak hours...however, I'd be a little scared to walk alone late at night since there are a lot of places for the boogeyman to hide!
The only thing I'd add to take this park to 5 stars is a dog park area!!!Listed in: Yelp Spots for your Pet

I come here most often to play Handball. Ok people handball is like raquetball (rules & scoring) but w/o the raquet. sorry alota people don't know.
Very nice courts, very well kept. Sucky thing is that they rip us off at night! they charge us $15 a light for just 1 hour! But there are 2 lights! so yup if I do my math correctly that's $30!! Now in the meantime they are lighting up the entire softball and soccer fields when nobody is playing in half of them! arrrgghh... watevers. i guess it is what it is.
nice place to take a walk, plenty of diversity. Feeding the ducks is nice & relaxing. Take a bike ride, its a good workout to go around.
Plenty of parking if you dont' mind a little walk. otherwise they charge I forget like $10 bucks to park inside. -

I've been going to this park as long as I can remember! It's spacious and always well manicured. Which is a great feat, because the park is a mile square. The cement paths are fun split every so often so you don't get stuck on one boring path.
On the weekends there's always a lot of activity. Birthday parties seem to always be going on. However, there's always an empty grass field waiting for you to plan a sports event with friends. Parking, however, is tough to find on weekends and early mornings.
On the Brookhurst side there are basketball courts and tennis courts. My favorite local park can't imagine life without it. -

I love this park! Each side of the park is a mile long :) You can take your dog for a walk or go for a run!! Very ideal for picnic gatherings or bbq party! There's grills on each and every gazebo!
Looking forward to celebrating the 4th of July here! -

I play in an adult coed volleyball league here and can be found in the gym on Thursdays! The gym is decent but the floor is always slippery. They have tennis courts, indoor racquetball courts, outdoor basketball courts, and several baseball fields. They hold different leagues in the gym and I see kids practicing dance and Karate in some of the side rooms attached to the gym.
It's called mile Square Park b/c each side of the the park is a mile long, so if you're looking for a good run or walk....take a trip around the park and you've done 4 miles!
There is parking galore but beware, there is NO PARKING when they hold concerts in the park during the summer months. Seriously, it's a disaster for those of us with early games to get to. Allot yourself an extra 15 min to find parking and walk to where you want to be. I love that at Christmas they decorate the tree outside the gym with lights! -

For my 100th yelp review, I really had to rack my brain and dig deep into my heart for something that was truly special.
I have many fond memories of this 1X1 that i grew up near (the park is a square and is perfectly 1 mile on each side, hence the name... i swear! look at google maps!).
I haven't been back in YEARS, so I have no idea what it's like now... but there are truly some great spots in the park! (archery, lakes, kids playground, BBQ's for huge parties, etc....)
Memory #5 = Biking in the park on weekends w/my family like ducks in a row. We'd stop by 7-eleven to get some slurpees that always managed to leave marks on my clothes
Memory #4 = roller-blading through the park with my shiny new walkman. yes.. walkman! i could only play one CD at a time (BoyzIIMen was my fav). always stopping to watch ppl fly their remote-controlled planes.
Memory #3 = for my 16th birthday, i invited my friends over to celebrate. my thoughtful mom bought me a durian cake. it was soo unbearable that we had put the cake outside (no one ate it). The smell wouldn't leave the place so we ran through mile square park to watch a movie. and afterward, ran back home at 9:30pm, semi-worried that some bum would jump out of the bushes and get us. truly memorable
Memory #2 = bringing my bunny in my bike basket to the park in the summer. i would find a place with a nice shade and let her eat all the grass she could eat. i would lay around and daydream about all the cute guys in my class while listening to KOST songs and write in my pink journal.
Memory #1 = before we all knew any better about feeding wild animals human food, my bro and i would LOVE throwing pieces of white Weber bread to the ducks in the lake. So many would surround us ... big white ones, little black ones, sparrows who caught crumbs on the side.... man they ate everything! i think i remember throwing japanese seaweed crackers at them.. why the HELL did we do that?! those were one the happiest days of my childhood.
ahhh..... those were the days... when life was a little less complicated...or perhaps complicated in a different way...... one day i will go back to visit! until then, i am truly enjoying the 7X7 that we live near. =) -

I'm the type of person that enjoys spending his leisure time outside, and Mile Square Regional Park is the perfect place for this. What I enjoy about this park are the many things it has to offer; plenty of space to run or jog around, with scenic views of lakes, trees and birds; there are tennis and basketball courts; there are baseball and soccer fields and even an archery range and golf field; there are plenty picnic areas, too, an ideal place for barbecues (there are outdoor grills that can be used). Pretty much this place has it all. The reason this park doesn't receive a 5 star rating is because I've been to nicer looking parks. Don't get me wrong, Mile Square Regional Park is nice, but I've seen more beautiful parks.
In short: Great spot for many outdoor activities! -

I grew up coming to Mile Square Park for parties or just to hang out and play. It's the biggest park i've ever seen and it has to be the biggest park in all of OC. I love coming here and just sitting by the lake and watching all the ducks try to peck people : D Also if you like walking or working out running or walking around this place one is 4 miles I always thought it was one mile (Not the sharpest tool in the shed lol) I walked around it once and almost died, Couldn't even sit down without being in pain. It let me know just how out of shape I truly am especially when an 80 year old man ran past me as I was practically crawling to the car. I can say I will never walk around this park AGAIN. You could also fish here but I wouldn't recommend it however the Vietnamese don't seem to mind it. And I don't recommend women coming here alone after sunset unless you want to be raped (seriously its happened here many times) Remember Santa Ana is just a block down the street and you know what that means....So be safe and enjoy the park :)

Want to go for a jog? Run one side and you have ran a mile. In better shape? Run around the park and it is 4 miles.
Not in that good of shape to run or jog? They have bike trails and even have bike rentals.
Want to shoot a round of golf? They have two 18 round golf courses. One executive and a regulation golf course.
Want to play the most popular sport in the world? They have two regulation size soccer fields.
Think soccer is for Euro Trash and want to play America's favorite pastime? They have a baseball diamond and some softball diamonds too.
Want to practice your hoop trash talking skills? They have a couple handful of basketball courts.
Tennis or racquetball fans? They have a couple of handful of tennis courts and about 3 racquetball courts.
Want to practice your William Tell skills? They have an archery range. Apples not included.
Like Trout? There are two fishing lakes and 300 lbs of Trout were stocked in the South Lake on 1/27/09.
In the mood for a picnic and barbeque? They have plenty of picnic areas with tables and barbeques.
Have kids and looking for an after school program? The Kingston Boys & Girls Club is located on the Brookhurst side.
Looking for a place for a banquet or wedding? They have a banquet center and garden ceremony site.
This park has just about anything you are looking for. Then why not 5 Stars? Not the safest place to be at night due to not enough light.Listed in: Healthier Yelpling, Cool Things in "The Valley."…

Came here for a run! Not too shabby for my first time! I was only able to view the outsides of it but eventually I will have a chance to cut through the park to view more of it! It's a pretty big park... Not much to say other then it's well kept and it has nice view. Plenty of space for any events you wish to hold.

Just got back from a morning walk with my neighbor around this beautifully lush and green park.
It appears that this park has been newly re-landscaped, and is filled with newly planted tress & flowers, and freshly created paths for walking. They also have tennis courts, Baseball fields, BBQ areas, fishing areas at their south pound (they frequently stock it with trout), restrooms and picnic areas. And this park is dog friendly... and plus, in my book.
I like this place. -

We have been looking for places to take our new bulldog puppy to play and decided to check out Mile Square Park this weekend. Since it was so cold, the park was pretty empty, and a bit wet from all the rain we have had here but it was a great experience and the park is beautiful. We took a short stroll around the lake and got to chase some ducks. The view was awesome and the cute little bridge over to Palm Island was nice. Warning: ducks are not friendly and sometimes they will hiss at you to warn you against approaching them. When the pup gets older maybe we'll be a little braver... but for now, we'll leave them alone. Oh ducks/birds poo a lot so don't wear your favorite pair of shoes when you come.
