I used mile-hi to aerate my lawn. They came when they said they would, made lots of turd-like plugs from my lawn, then left. The coverage seemed adequate. But I'm still not convinced that aeration really does anything(?)
Ever wonder why people put mile-hi signs on their lawn? You think perhaps it's because of a deep loyalty and lasting love of mile-hi? Think maybe you've been missing out? You haven't missed a thing...that is mile-hi's charming calling card that they leave in your yard without consent.
The real joy of doing business is having your number added to their database. Now they won't stop calling me! For window cleanings and God knows what else. I have asked TWICE that they remove me from their call list, but it seems nothing short of a number change will shake them.
If I had to do it all over again, I would have used a straw to suck the dirt from my lawn vs having to deal with the onslaught of slimy marketing tactics and solicitations.
I used Mile Hi one time, and I probably could have done a better job myself with a hand aerator.
They came out, and I saw a couple of plugs pulled, but the work was scattered and sparse. And when they were done, they rang the doorbell to collect the check, and the guy, kid you not, spit in his hand, looked at me and said, "we're done"
I ordered the overseeding...and I couldn't see any fertilizer or seed anywhere...so that was kind of lame, considering I paid $45 extra for that.
After the job, it looked so terrible, I told them to come back out and re-do it. Only after a complaint to the BBB would they actually come out and do a satisfactory job. (in fact check the BBB reviews, they have a TERRIBLE record)
One other thing, I am forever on their autocall list. It's really annoying. At least 3 times a year now I have a stupid message from them on my voicemail.
My guess is you can probably find a better price and service off of craigslist.
I've used Mile Hi three times. I've used them in the spring two times - once for aeration, and then the following year for aeration with fertilizer. I've also had them come once in the fall.
They do an "ok" job. They did not go over all of the areas of my lawn any of the three times they came out. They only cover the open areas and don't get around corners, bushes, planters, etc. The first time I used their service, I asked them to come back because they completely missed the 5 foot wide strip of grass that runs along my driveway. This resulted in my being charged again, so I had to call and get that fixed as well. After I called again, they did not charge me. This was also a little weird because they don't bill after-the-fact. You leave a check under your door mat which they pick up when they come out to do the service. Their prices are pretty good.
I don't know what kind of fertilizer they use, but it didn't seem to make any difference - it's hard to know if the grass would have been worse off if I hadn't had them do it.
I'm not recommending against them, but this year I'll probably look for someone else.
