5 reviews for Mike Fink Restaurant
I just stopped by Mike Fink's boat and it doesn't look like the restoration process is going very fast.
I ate here two years ago and was hoping to again. It has the atmosphere of a fine old place, with a lot of quirks as a result of being on a boat! We loved dining right on the water with a view of a Cincinnati-Cleveland baseball game going on across the river, and an Italian festival's fireworks upriver.
I hope the geese resident in the parking lot have to move along when the place is reopened soon. If needed, I hope people will band together to save this unique and special place.
We came here for a nice dinner out at a friend's recommendation, and it was fine. Nothing crazy. The whole "eating on a boat" thing does nothing for me, unless it is actually moving or something. Otherwise, it's just another restaurant in my opinion. The food is decent, the view of Cincy is good, the wine is fine. After dinner we even stayed to sit at the bar and chat some more and drink a few extra glasses of wine. I think I had my first Estancia pinot noir here-- still a go-to wine at my apartment. So you know, A-OK for something a little different for dinner.
For someone living in Fairborn, OH, this place was 20 stars. Now, just three. Good oysters rockefeller.
When I visited last fall (2007), the atmosphere was tired and worn out, but now the boat's being refurbished, so hopefully it will return with a new sparkle. Despite the interior surroundings, the view is great and the food was good. At that time, the restaurant served traditional entrees, fish steak, and pasta. Even though the boat was not crowded, the service was slow.
Eat on the Ohio River in a riverboat. What an experience. Okay, I was here years ago for a family dinner and we still talk about it positively.
