Midwest Express Airlines
2 reviews for Midwest Express Airlines
Direct flights out of Omaha to anywhere besides Chicago, Denver or Dallas can be hard to come by, which is an unfortunate consequence of the hub and spoke model of airline travel under which we are all forced to operate. Most of Midwest's flights out of Omaha go through Milwaukee, but they have a two direct flights to National Airport in DC per day. If you're like me (you better hope you're not) and travel to DC for work a fair amount, this direct option saves me lots of time and money each year.
Unlike nearly every other airline in existence, Midwest is flexible if I need an earlier flight and often won't charge me to fly earlier, if my schedule permits. They have two seats in the same space most airlines cram three into. Midwest serves hot chocolate chip cookies on most of their flights, and the price is often less than comparable options. If every airline worked the way Midwest does, people wouldn't hate air travel as much as they do.
I've flown Midwest several times now, from LA to Boston and New York through Milwaukee, and from LA to San Antonio through Kansas City, and so far it remains my favorite domestic airline. The seats are large and comfy, the staff is always exceptionally nice, and of course you get hot chocolate chip cookies...even on the small commuter jets they run.
