Review from He and She I.
Independence, IA
When I was a teenager, I read a lot of science fiction. I wanted to travel by space ship, and was fascinated by the descriptions of the sleeping quarters of the space travelers.
Fast forward to today, and I finally got my own space quarters! It's a teeny tiny hotel room, thoughtfully laid out, very clean. Not a lot of counter space, but how much do you need for eight hours of sleep and a shower? Good value, and the bed was serviceable. The towels are also small, but the water is hot and plentiful.
There is a cute window seat over the incredibly responsive heat/cool system, and the wifi is free, with the easiest access I have encountered on the road.
There is a coffee maker in the room, and there was also coffee in the lobby when we checked in, with two cookies left on the plate.
The hotel room was one of the quietest I have slept in, with only occasional road noise, even though the parking lot was pretty full.
And, bonus, it was located right on Hwy 20, which we are following to the coast. Now, to try out the "breakfast"....(I have a Panera bagel in my purse, because I'm not expecting much).
Update: the breakfast was exactly like a Holiday Inn Express breakfast, without the "hot" meal. And my bagel was pretty good, too.
I would highly recommend this hotel for a budget-minded traveler. -

Looking for value accommodation on a stopover on my ride back from Portland ME to Ontario, I found the Microtel.
Let's not kid each other - the building is definitely aged and in need of some TLC. I liked that, despite the age, the building is maintained to a spotless standard. Usually when you go into other hotels of similar vintage they are rundown and smell like barnyard animals have been prancing freely. This Microtel was clean and scent-free. I have to compliment the staff for being prompt, efficient and polite..all good traits to have in the hotel business.
The complementary breakfast was poor - aside from having a slim selection of food (stale bread and rotten fruits), some anxious lady kept stealing everyone's toast from the toaster...that made breakfast interesting (obviously not the hotel's fault).
Overall, a good value and a recommended stay if you can put up with dated decor. Personally, to leave it on a high-note, I recommend spending 5 bucks and driving up the road to Maggee County Dinner for breakfast - the hotel's complementary breakfast will disappoint... -

Cheap. Doesn't smell weird like most cheap hotels. Free breakfast. Free coffee all day. Pet fee of only $15. Plus, there's a supermarket and a WalMart around the corner (walking distance to both).
If you're in this area, I recommend this place as a no frills option. Again, the most important part...it didn't smell horribly. Breathe easy! =D -

All the other yelp reviews are spot on. Nice clean room, had a kitchenette (sink/fridge/micro), couch and queen bed for $116 total. Not the cheapest but they were full so maybe better deals exist. The " breakfast" was the worst inclusive I've ever seen. Overall just okay but clean.

Stayed here for 3 nights with my daughter. It was CLEAN, felt safe for 2 females traveling alone, was quiet, and very reasonably priced. We paid $70 per night including taxes for 2 queen-sized beds and the window seat that my daughter loved!
Includes free wifi and long distance within US. Breakfast is standard continental fare.
It's only about 15 minutes from the Waterloo Premium Outlets, so it's perfect for our mother-daughter bonding ;).
Would definitely stay again. -

As if it's not obvious, if you're looking for a cheap place to stay, Microtel is the place to go.
Our room had to be the smallest room I've ever stayed in. As Brian L. mentions, this is a no frills option. They definitely make use of every space! It was very clean, which of course, is really important! I've had some bad experiences, so I always do a little check to see if the room meets my cleanliness standards.
They have free wi-fi, which is great even though we didn't really need it. I mean, we were supposed to be on vacation, but the husband had to check his email. If you don't have a laptop, they do have a nice little business center w/ a computer, copy machine, and fax.
We were pleasantly surprised to step out the back door to find a cute little round picnic table (which was also very clean), and the river with lots of beautiful landscaping. There are stairs to walk down and a grass walkway for a nice stroll along the water. It made for a really nice night!
The bed was really comfortable and we slept great! Very quiet on a Friday night. Hot water, blow dryer provided if needed, and an iron/ironing board. They have a free continental breakfast that we didn't take advantage of, but it was set up in the conference room next to our room, and it looked like a decent spread.
This is a great place if you're looking for a cheap, clean, and comfortable place to crash. I would definitely stay here again! -

i know exactly what you're thinking ."where they hell am i gonna stay on my many trips to Seneca Falls, NY?"
it's a question millions of Americans wrestle with every day.
my solution? microtel.
we paid $70 and got a nice compact little room with a good bathroom, comfy bed and great cable. it was quiet all night. the front desk staff was helpful and it's right down the road from the main part of town.
if you need economy lodging while in Seneca Falls...book a room here -

NEW MICROTEL IN GENEVA! Don't count on your reservation being held. I reserved 14 rooms (3) months in advance of my trip and offered my Credit Card, signed a contract and had all rooms in my name. I was assured everything was good, the manager only requested a guest list prior to the date. When I called three days before the trip to cancel a single room , I was told all of my rooms were returned to inventory and are no longer available. The Manager said once you sign a contract, I don't look at that or have anything to do with it again. Its your responsibility to check back. 3 days before my trip and no rooms. The Regional Manager would not call me back today because she was busy with a photoshoot for an important open house they have planned this week. I'm sure 27 guests without rooms we had reserved is not as important as a photo shoot. My call is into the Owner Company, Indus Corp. I hope they have a better attitude and response.
