On the rare occasions that my BF visits me in San Jose he stays at Microtel, which is totally convenient because I live in South San Jose and this hotel isn't too far away from my house.

I like to take advantage of the free tea and cookies.  Oh, there is coffee too, but I despise coffee!

Watch out for soccer season!!  There are a handful of children's soccer leagues and there will be hundreds of kids running (and screaming) around in the hotel.  If you have no tolerance for rowdy screaming children stay far away and most likely all the rooms will be booked!  Also, *really* watch out for some shady/sketchy folks that come in.

Pets are allowed stay at an additional fee, but we have snuck in a dog once and did not get caught!

Oh oh!  I almost forgot.  Enroll in a "MicroPass" and your 10th stay will be free ;D

Good location and friendly staff-cheap, unfortunately that's about all the good I can say about this hotel.  I booked as I've heard their ads on the radio that everything's all new and clean, free breakfast and wi-fi.  Great!  That's all I really need and I'm certainly not the luxury hotel type :)
This hotel wasn't new and clean (although not DIRTY, it was a little run down and tired).  And I have to say that was the smallest American hotel room I've ever stayed in.  It was about 10x9 with a desk, closet, and double bed crammed in there.  If I was sitting at the desk I would have to get up and move for my buddy to get by and use the washroom.  The bed was not comfortable at all, I think I got about 2 hours sleep the whole weekend.   The breakfast was worth the price charged, there was a coffee-like substance I didn't partake of any of the other cellophane Spunkmeyer goodies...I got plenty to eat at the Gilroy Garlic Fest!!
