In town on business and walked a few blocks from my hotel for a place to eat. Headed into Mick O'Sheas Pub & Restaurant. Basic pub atmosphere in front with more tables in the back. They have a pretty good menu for food. I had the Surf and Turf with the crab cakes. Steak was OK but I loved the crab cakes, haven't had them in awhile.
Bottom line: Not a bad place to walk in and eat.
My wife and I drove into MD a little early for Easter weekend (3/22/08) and met up with a few friends. The Brewer's Art (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) wasn't open yet. Rats. Where do we get our Resurrection* fix? Look no further.
The bar was clean and has tables and booths to rest your tired feet. There were also tv's to watch any sporting event. The service was fast and friendly but the food** we ordered was pedestrian. There was a Golden Tee in the back! It guess it would be weird to play by myself.
Excuse me, I'd going to hit the head***.
* Here are two links for getting acquainted with this lovely brew: http://beeradvocate.co... and http://www.belgianbeer...
** Maryland Crab soup, wings, mac & cheese. Meh. There weren't too many patrons there on an early Saturday afternoon. No live band either.
*** I might be gone for an hour. Don't mind me.

We just came here to see the band Donegal Express playing - heard they might be good, knew they were being considered for an event we were booking in Frederick, and they happened to be here.
5 stars for the nicely diverse crowd. I'm assuming that's a reflection of O'sheas rather than being a byproduct of the band's draw. It's one of those rare places where the crowd was a comfortable mix of people from 2 decades younger to 2 decades older than us (usually its just the former!)
4 stars for the band. 4 stars for the very reasonable beverages ($5 for a pint of Blue Moon and a sparkling water).
3 stars for the stage layout (a big portion of the seats are off to the side and/or hidden view ... like most pubs).
Wooooooo...Happy Hour. I have yet to find a happy hour to beat O'shea's tasty food and cheap prices. Any beer you want on tap or bottle. I love their menu. I've yet to have a bad meal here. I've had everything from the Banger's and Mash to the Buffalo wings. The service is great. The offer a little bit of everything for everyone.
I've been here twice - once for St. Patty's day and once for a private party on a Friday night. Both nights the place was absolutely packed! it can be hard to navigate around or to order a drink but it's got a great atmosphere and both times the bands were killer!
If you go in the back, to the "private party room" - there's a small, almost hidden little "courtyard". it's an open area that probably used to be an alley or back yard that has since been covered and I loved it! Fake store fronts and some park benches - a nice place to take a break from the crowd inside but I don't know how often they open it up.
great beer, great bands.
don't know if they still have the monday special, but if they do, you have to go check it out. $5 for a burger and a pint.

this is a great place for happy hour - guiness on tap, great burgers (or fish n' chips), casual, comfortable surroundings... and as with any irish pub worth it's lot, there's a back room for darts.
