The service we received at Mi Tierra was probably the best we've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. I enjoyed the inside decor, as it was Mexican, but not gaudy like so many places are.
Our chips and salsa arrived immediately, and our prompt and courteous waiter was patient with me when I couldn't decide what to order off of the enormous menu. I decided to try a chile relleno. My honey got chicken en mole.
Overall, all of the flavors were good. Everything was well seasoned, and the tortillas tasted home made. My Chile relleno was jam packed full of cheese, but had a strange off putting taste, that I couldn't put my finger on. The mole was really good, but I've had a lot better at other places.
I liked the fact that all of the food was topped with Mexican Cojita cheese, not greasy Cheddar, like most other Americanized Mexican joints. The prices are extremely reasonable, and with such a huge menu selection, I am definitely interested in returning to try some other things.
I'm half-mexican and from California; I know good Mexican food and this place was a let down. The prices were good, the service was good, but the food was bland. Plus, three of the six menu items listed under the "Vegetarian" heading had meat in them.
I would say this place is just average, and not really worth going back.
This is my family's Friday night Mexican place, and our go-to place for celebrations with big groups of friends. Yes, it's Americanized Mexican food, but it's quality. You get exactly what expect when you order and the staff is fantastic. Some of the staff used to own a family Mexican place in downtown Bothell and that used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant - we made friends with them and followed them to Woodinville.
They make wonderful margaritas as well, definitely try one if you like tequila! Try something new on the menu each time, you'll find your favorite.
Came here for lunch today with my son and his GF. We had lunch menu items, Paul had the Carne Asada which looked good, his GF had taco and I got a chicken taco and enchilada combo.
The Salsa was good. Food was average. Service - it would have been nice to have a water refill but server was busy? It was after lunch and there was only one other table occupied.
Love this place and eat here frequently. Very generous portions and fair prices. Service is average, however since I eat here often I usually ask for the same waiter (angel) who is great. More often than not he throws in free extras like a side of bean dip or dessert.
The lunch menu is great, cheap and portions are huge. For dinner my favorite dish is the deluxe burrito with shredded beef that comes with rice and beans, baked cheese on top with sour cream and guacamole which is under $10. Also, the drinks are bottomless which is a great.
Another favorite here is their Mango Margarita which is amazing. They do tend to pour a little heavy so be careful!
Reasonably-priced Mexican food with something for even the pickiest or dietary-restricted diner. Clean, friendly, pretty good with refills, tasty.. they offer char-broiled chicken breasts in their burritos which is a definite + and you get get that on a salad. Sitting outdoors is great too, the higher brick wall and trees somewhat drowns out the street traffic.
We dined at Mi Tierra on a Friday evening. The patio was full, so we decided to start with a drink at the bar. The decor in the bar is breathtakingly awful. Straight out of 1985, with velor rolling chairs (??), low popcorn ceilings and truly horrific teal paint. Our mojitos were good, however.
We ate on the patio, which was quite nice. As noted by other reviewers, the service was pretty slow, and we were left unattended for long stretches at a time. I didn't mind as the weather was beautiful, but on another night I might not have been so patient.
The entrees arrived; perhaps the most ridiculously over-sized portions I've seen in a long time (obesity epidemic ...anyone??) In spite of the ridiculous portions, the food was quite good and hey, I had another entire meal for the next day from the leftovers. They also push the alcohol here pretty heavily. Probably because the servings are so large (and relatively cheap) that they have to make their money somehow!
All and all, we might return, but this is definitely not the best Mexican food in Western Washington as some other reviewers have said. I prefer Cactus any day.
Pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant...good food...decent prices...large portions. To be fair, I rarely eat here but I do go to their happy hour in the bar fairly often.
The bar is decent but Woodinville doesn't have too many good options for Happy Hours and this is one of the better. $2.50 draft beers and unlimited nachos usually leads to a few enjoyable hours of conversation with friends.
If you're craving Mexican or looking for a good happy hour I would suggest here...just don't expect anything too different than every other Mexican restaurant experience you've had.
Tasty salsas, big portions, friendly and quick wait staff. We visit it frequently--it's the best Mexican restaurant local to us and we especially appreciate the low-priced lunch menu.
Decent atmosphere, if you don' t like the decor, chances are you can look out a window.
Campechana is hard to find and Mi Tierra get's it right.
The service is great, the ambiance is even better. The decor on the inside is really interesting. It's made to look like you're dining outside. There is also outdoor dining, which is fabulous in the summer time.
You can't go wrong here, so order anything. Love this place.
We went with a group of 10 people this week, for a birthday celebration. Called ahead to make the reservations and were seated immediately. Then we waited. Ten minutes later our server shows up to take drink orders from everyone. Then we waited. Fifteen minutes later he shows up with drinks. I got a strawberry margarita that tasted like fingernail polish remover. Then we waited some more. Twenty five minutes later he shows up to see if we need more drinks. No, thanks, but could we place our order sometime this year please? We place our order after being there for almost a full hour already and then.. you guessed it.. wait.
About twenty five minutes later they come out with our food. We eat, then wait. Wait. Wait. A full thirty minutes goes by after our food is delivered before he comes back to check on us. I told him it was my friend's birthday and asked if they have any sort of silly hat or something they can put on him. He said he'd go grab it. Then we waited. Waited, waited. Another twenty five minutes go by and he comes over with a few other servers and a silly hat, we all sing happy birthday, blah blah blah. Then we wait. Another fifteen minutes to get our checks. In total, for a dinner it took over two hours. I know that in groups you'll have to wait longer for food and whatever, but he wasn't even coming back to check on us at all, and if we needed something we had to flag down a different waiter (which we did 3-4 times).
The food itself was okay, but nothing great. It was relatively cheap, for two people (me and my husband), two entrees, and a couple margaritas, it was $30 including a tip. Will I go back? Probably not, considering it's out of the way for us, but if you're in the area, and not dining in a large group, I might recommend it.
This is my fiance's favorite Mexican restaurant. I find it to be just OK.
He loves several of the creamy chicken dishes. The kids like the enchiladas and burritos, and they do have a good kids' menu. Their nachos come on a huge plate and are rightly many people's favorite meal here.
I've tried several dishes but everything's made me itchy; I suspect that their tortillas contain soy flour, a prime allergen for me. That's a bummer.
Their chips and range of salsas offered at the beginning of the meal are better than most. The food portions are also ample, and they are good at keeping your drink full and making sure that everything's OK without hovering too much.
The service is friendly and warm, which is amazing for a restaurant of this size (the place is huge). If you sit in the back room, check out the masks collection on the wall. There are some really fantastic masks there. I don't think that this is mass-produced restaurant art, which is a wonderful change from the Red Robins of the world.
In short, with no allergies, you'll probably love this place. The classics are all there, the prices are low, and the menu offers some authentic Mexican dishes not commonly seen in suburbia north of Texas or Los Angeles.
This is Americanized Mexican food but it is done well. The flavors are usually spot on and they have a few specialty dishes that are very good like the chorizo and nopales (cactus) dish. The service has always been great. If I want gussied up Mexican fusion I go to Cactus, if I want more authentic flavors of Mexico I go to Senior Moose or La Carta de Oaxaca in Ballard, if it cheap and dingy I go to various taco trucks, but if I want to have a combination of taco and enchilada or some other Americanized Mexican faire, I go to Mi Tierra because they do it well.
I remembered growing up in Woodinville and eating here all the time. So when I was back in town visiting the folks - I decided to swing by for old times sake. I've been living in California for a few years - so I know what good Mexican food is - and safe to say I was more than a little skeptical of having a decent burrito in Woodinville. But - the challenge can be met easily. (There's also a Taco del Mar down the street)
I was a little worried when I sat down and realized that it's no longer Las Margaritas - it's now called Mi Tierra. Las Mag used to have a whole slew of locations around Seattle - so I was momentarily worried that they had sold this particular location and all the old dishes and memories were going to stay old memories. I still don't know the politics of the name change or what happened to the other Las Margaritas - but at least in Woodinville it was just a minor remodel and still the same food as I remember.
First off - their mild salsa is to die for. Not sure what it is - but it tastes like a lot of sweet herbs and spices - tons of cilantro, garlic, parsley and ??? Even if you like spicy stuff - this salsa is packed with flavor. I hadn't had it in 10 years - but the taste came rushing back to me - if they made this with a little kick it would win competitions everywhere. You have to request it special though - the standard salsa is more traditional and just OK in my opinion.
I just had the Espresso Vegetarian Burrito - but it was excellent. Huge serving, well prepared, lots of guacamole and red sauce. This can totally keep up with any burrito found in California or Mexico. Veggies were fresh, just the right amount of beans and rice, and tons of flavor.
Overall, Mi Tierra is a great place for good, authentic Mexican food. They have great service, a spacious location with a ar, lots of art on the walls, and good prices. If you are stuck in suburbia - this is a nice reminder that not everything out there has to be cookie-cutter....
Love the people, love the service and I love the SALSA!
Don't be fooled by the name change - We learned from the owners of this place that the reason they changed it was because Las Margaritas charged an arm and a leg just to use the chain name.
They did away with that this summer - and as a result, not a lot has changed.
Maybe they have BETTER food now, I dont know......but I think the place is pretty great!
I highly recommend the Cadillac Margaritas and Carne Asada!
They have a pleasent patio for outdoor dining when weather permits, what a great experience on a sunny day!
Good service, good food, typical $8-10 prices, with a nice Mexican decor.
Food was very good but I have to drop it to 3 stars for the service. The waiter was very S L O W and I swear dinner took the whole night. The food portions were good but the service killed it. This place is better than many other Mexican restaurants in the area but pray you get a good waiter. Give it a try.
I love this place. The portions are ample, even by American standards. I loved the Deluxe Burrito, and the Shirley Temples are nothing short of amazing. Every time I go it's a great place.
One of the better Mexican places I have been to in Washington. The pieces of chicken were cut a little small for the fajitas, but the preparation was otherwise good. They had a bunch of specialty dishes that I have never had before and I look forward to going back to try them.
Monstrous portions, pretty good food and service. It's in a strip mall with an ugly view of the parking lot, but the people there have tried to make the best of the interior. Convenient to the nearby Woodinville 12 multiplex. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go there again, but it was fine.
Our favorite Mexican restaurant. We go here every couple of weeks or so. The place has such a nice atmosphere we even had our wedding's rehearsal dinner there. The food is excellent - never had a bad dish. The wait staff is generally very attentive. Small complaint: it's always seems to be rather chilly, so you may wish to bring an extra layer of clothing. Excellent mojitos and camarones ala diabla.
Mi Tierra is another popular Friday dinner spot for us. We often order appetizers for dinner and the steak quesadillas keep us coming back for more!! The service is attentive and quick. The mojitos are great and the margaritas aren't bad either. Mi Tierra does have sort of a dingy feel to it and could probably be improved by some new paint and a deep cleaning. This also tends to be a fairly loud restaurant so it would not be recommended for a romantic date-type evening. We have not been in the lounge so I can't comment there but it always appears full of folks so that is a good sign.
