Since there move to Echo Park, Mi Alma Gardens is only that much more inviting and beautiful!

Their last place in Silver Lake was huge and intriguing, but the Echo Gradens definitely retained and I think improved that allure and environment! I was there for a party last Friday complete with food, drinks, dj and dancers. Was so chill and fun that I've already suggested it to a couple of friends looking for venues for events they're planning this summer. Im also going to their first movie night next saturday!

Charles and crew are super cool and have the right attitude about giving something back to the community. We need more conscientious businesses like this in LA!! That's probably why I really dig this place in the first place!

Mi Alma moved!!! They are now located at 1901 Echo Park Ave.

The old Mi Alma location was right near my office and I was so sad when I found out they were moving. It was such a great place to shop at or just walk through and admire all of the hidden treasures. I'm so glad to see that they have opened up again in nearby Echo Park. The new location is just as beautiful and full of whimsy.

It's a great place to buy gifts for others or oneself. They are so talented and creative with their succulent plantings (which is what I always go there for) and collection of cool objects. Everyone who has ever helped has also always been incredible helpful. It's the kind of place I want to support.

I'm sure you've seen the garden on the corner where Santa Monica Boulevard meets Sunset Boulevard. Maybe you'll be just as surprised as I was when I found out that there's an entire interior space attached to this garden and that it's the two together that constitute the entirety of Mi Alma Designs.

Mi Alma is whimsical. In my experience, when places are described as "whimsical," this usually indicates that they are overflowing with grandma. However, Mi Alma is actually whimsical. The company for which I work held two very enchanted book readings in Mi Alma Designs. The interior is a large converted studio space with wooden rafters. It is filled with stand-apart furniture destined to become conversation pieces. There are amazing art pieces that draw you to them and make you think, "Huh. Wow." And then the gravity of another piece pulls you in, hand over hand, and you wander away, but you find yourself wandering back to the first to look again. And you wonder back-and-forth thus.

For those of you who didn't take four years of Spanish in high school, Mi Alma is "my soul" in Spanish, which befits. Charlie, the man who runs Mi Alma, is a delightful man who has clearly poured his soul and passion into this space. The hallmark of Mi Alma is its handmade lamps, which drape and float throughout the Mi Alma interior. I'm a glutton for lighting fixtures and Charlie's are so so gorgeous. I love the ones shaped like umbrellas.

In the Sunset Junction area there is a treasure chest at the end of the rainbow.  It is called Mi Alma.  There, I was able to host a surprise birthday party as the store doubles as a party venue.  The owners are a delight and are so happy to create and design a creative, energetically whimsical environment for your party.  It was raining all week, so the festivities originally planned for the intricate and eclectic Mi Alma garden, needed to be moved inside.

Inside is the custom lamp store, full of beautiful, medieval feeling, over-sized furniture, light fixtures of all shapes, sizes and materials, along with tasteful, classy knick-knacks creating a magical atmosphere.  Thank you boys for all your generosity, hard work and talent.  The birthday party was a hit and an enormous amount of thanks goes to you for that.  All the best!

Hopefully you yelpers will be fortunate enough to meet one of the stores titular Alma's.  She is a wonderfully refreshing spirit!  Muchas gracias Mi Alma!

My friend John, who is stylish and knows a  lot about 'style' turned
me on to Mi Alma.  I went and snooped around, looked at their
fabulous cactus (cactii?)plantings, etc and then spoke to
Charlie, who is the force behind this 'collective.'  He told me
that the taco man only comes when it is sunny (and it was
a rainy Saturday) and that I'd missed the fabulous Valentine's Day
party  Sigh.   But they are hoping to establish a 'collective' where
people can come and rent space and show what they would like
to sell-I'm hoping that someone will turn up with hats-but not so
outrageously priced as those in the chi chi stores just down the block.
As Gerry K said "It's magic.'

a bunch of friendly, beautiful artists get together to sell their art.  and their art is made of eco friendly products.  they set up their "stands" - or areas - in that parking lot across from the jiffy lube on sunset junction, around the santa monica blvd + gateway ave. hilltop.

i was there early on a sat. morning when they were just getting started.  there was so much peace in the air, and joy.  amazing how they transformed that gravel lot.

rumor has it, this artists collective [don't run screaming, they're not commies, mom] is going to run gorgeous events that include food and what not - outdoors, in the sunset junction curve - at nite - in the very near future.  i can't wait.

lastly, not only was the art great, much of it was inexpensive - AND, DUH, it was made of recycled materials.  the best of all worlds.

    next art sale: Saturday, May 23 10am - 4pm

Woohoo! Indeed. Just got back from the one-year anniversary party, and what a blast it was! Amazing live music, fantastic art, free make-overs, and heaps of sweets and booze. I mean, there's really nothing more I could ask for in a party. I'm so looking forward to coming back during the day to browse the garden and see all the beautiful custom lampshades without a cosmo buzz.

This place was so cool, filled with so much candy for the eye! Everywhere I looked there was something new, something different. Plus the guy working (not sure if he's the owner or not) was really friendly and informative.

This place is faahhbulous and inspiring so are the people who own and run it!   It is chock full of amazing and unique home furnishings (I got a chair from there which absolutely MAKES my whole house at a price I couldn't believe!) :) and it is also just a great place to hang out (there's always lemonade or iced tea in in the garden, a taco truck outside, and at night sometimes, a dj, fire-pit, and dancing!)  It basically epitomizes the greatness of Silver Lake and you will quite simply fall in love with the joint.
