I debated on giving it 3 stars due to the snobby service, but I have found that even the people working behind the counters are probably just as entitled as the people they serve. Anyway, our server had an attitude but we didnt have any other problems.
We went for happy hour and even that is pricey. But if you get a pizza it will cost 7 bucks-so its worth it. That wa the cheapest thing on the happy hour menu.
I had the simple salad and it had nothing more than some nice greens and cherry tomatoes but the dressing was really really good, for 9 bucks.
The crab cakes, although more California style were served with a really sweet and savory sauce, 13.00.
I loved what we ate, but probably wont be back again-since we dont frequent Aspen enough.

I wasn't expecting an Italian mecca, but Mezzaluna is simply uninspired.

After reading the reviews I was expecting great food with sluggish service, but I actually had quite the opposite experience.

We were greeted by fantastic hosts who were warm, gracious and assisted us to our table right away. Out waitress was extremely kind, social, and was on top of everything.

The food on the other hand, was just a notch below average.

I was starved, and after a day of getting acclimated to Aspen, we were ready for a great meal.

I ordered the chicken parmagiana and my friends ordered the pizzas.

While the dish was edible, it lacked any true depth behind it.

The chicken was dry, the spaghetti seemed a day old, and the sauce was straight out of a can, simmered, and lathered on top of a very lazy presentation.

Again, I wasn't expecting a knock out, but Mezzaluna does not advertise itself  as local diner, it presents itself as an exciting Italian hotspot, and the food simply under delivered.

Me being me, I devoured it, because my stomach has a mind of its own, but the upstairs disagreed.

With so many great places in Aspen, I think I'll continue to explore when I have a craving for some Italian.

It was hard for me to believe that Aspen is a town that exists mainly because of its service industry and the service at places like Mezzaluna could be so bad.

We asked for several things that were never brought to us, had several plates offered to us that were not our orders, I never received the right salad, our bill was wrong, and I watched as my boyfriend's pizza took a tour of the other patio tables before the waiter brought it to him.

All of that aside, the food at Mezzaluna was good. We ordered the chicken apple egg rolls with a curry peanut dipping sauce--awesome. I want to figure out how to make that at home. The salad that I got--not what I ordered--was fine too. Gorgonzola with spinach and pecans. Good but nothing spectacular.

The look of the spot is, of course, trendy and cool. We ate on the patio, equipped with heat lamps, and were quite comfortable. All in all, a good experience if you accepted the service and mistakes for what they were.

Pretty good Italian place.  We went at 3PM on a Friday, and it had a pretty decent menu available.  The pasta meals weren't offered at that time of day, but the wide array of delicious pizzas were.
There's also a great outdoor seating area with lots of tables and lots of sunlight.
In all, the restaurant is attractive, well lit, and (miracle in Aspen) nicely priced!  Food won't blow your socks off, but it gets the job done.
Id give it a 3.5 were I able.

I love the food here! So good. In response to the other Yelpers complaining about the poor service, that's just the way it is in Aspen. What do you expect from workers who know they will only be in town for a few months? Sometimes the servers are good. Sometimes they suck. I think it really depends on if the workers got to ski that day or not.

Great deal... we threw back a tasty margarita and a DELICIOUS veggie pizza (with creative veggies like matchstick zucchini and carrots, not just green peppers and olives) for about $7 apiece.  The outdoor patio is great for sitting in the sun and being mellow.  Going off the special apres ski menu cranks up the bill a bit, but if you're looking for options over value, everything else looked quite tasty as well. The service seemed a bit dicey (some guy claimed he'd had our pizza dropped on his table and was tempted to eat in in the time it took for anyone to realize it wasn't actually his), but given how crowded the place was I guess a couple misfires are to be expected.

The happy hour is tempting, but the service is crap. Appetizer delivered after entres with no word of apology. Bill was wrong. Food slightly below mediocre. Probably worth avoiding.

Quite a nice place for lunch, this restaurant service seems like it could be a little uneven. For the off-season, the place was chill, but come ski-season I would imagine it is hoping and loud. The pizzas were good and the salads, also.

Calamari goodness!

My boss and I went there for dinner tonight, and it was pretty good overall. The place was pretty crowded (typical Aspen crowd, think: rich Coloradoans and Californians), so we decided to sit at the bar, where the bartender did a pretty good job at serving us. We both got beers, and I stuck to the local Fat Tire. The food is Italian, and the menu is pretty extensive: from pasta to pizza to regular meat/fish entrees. We decided to share an order of bruscetta and an order of fried giant calamari for appetizers, and I must say that was pretty tasty. The bruscetta was perfectly seasoned. And don't get me started on the calamari... it was just amazing, not tough at all, very yummy. I'm actually really curious to know where they get it. We then both ordered the pasta special: linguini with Ahi tuna in a marinara sauce with kalamata olives and capers. It turned out pretty good, but not exceptional: the sauce was a little too overpowering, a mistake often made in American Italian cuisine as noted by my boss who's really into Italian food (from Italy, that is). We were both really full at the end of our meal, so portions were definitely big enough. Only three stars (really 3-1/2) because I almost choked when I saw the check: $77 for the two of us...

I think Mezzaluna does a good job with lunch. We sat outside. Pizza was very tasty and cooked well. I had a salad that wasn't overdressed and well composed, with some nice tuna on it. It is reasonable, the service was ok, and the scene...well, it was a scene on that afternoon. I enjoyed my lunch.
