What a gem! Had we not been given the recommendation to go to Meyer we would have never even known it existed. Thankfully we listened to the recommendation and visited this great winery.
Not only did we spend three hours there, we also joined their wine club. Their prices are comparable to everywhere else but their wine stood out above the rest.
Fun fact: Matt Meyer start this winery with his late father, Justin Meyer who founded Silver Oak! This family knows wine!
Another great aspect is that they're down to earth, unpretentious, and willing to spend time with you.
Definitely put it on your list. -

I may have found my new favorite port. Staff was very friendly, so friendly we had a hard time getting out the door to get to the other wineries for the day. Just wish the prices weren't so high.

We had sister & brother in law up for a visit from So. Calif for the weekend, and it was a perfect day for wine tasting & being out. We selected 2 wineries that had been recommended and this was one. After enjoying the drive up spectacular 128 and our 1st stop at Maple Creek, we then came to Meyer Family Winery.
A very different look & feel from our last stop. This, very refined, contemporary-- inside & out. The tasting room, tasteful, quiet. and lovely. There were 3 wines to sample, and a plate of snacks as well. They are renown for their Syrahs & there were 2 to taste, the 2003 & 2004. Both equally delicious, both priced at $35.00. The 3rd was a port, and the pourer gave us a choice of bitter or semi-sweet chocolate to go with it. Yes, it was delicious.
We enjoyed our experience here, but felt the wine too high priced. So many other fine wines in the valley for less. -

The wife and I joined a few of our pals for a last second trip up to the City / Napa / Mendicino to partake in the Bonny's Vineyard Release Party this past Weekend. Let me tell you, once you get through the brutal CA-128 drive, this place is amazing!
The Meyers are perfecting Syrah the way they perfected the Cab under the Silver Oak label. Oh, Bonny's is the reserve that Silver Oak use to release and is now under the Meyer name. Set in a beautiful pocket of Mendicino County, this winery needs to be on any wino's tour stop!
If they do an annual release of their fabulous Syrah and Cab, I will be there once a year! -

So you're road tripping for a weekend getaway in Mendocino, but the kids are getting antsy and your stomach is growling. You've packed a picnic but you have no idea where to find the best spot to enjoy your late lunch, empty your bladders, and let the kids run wild.
Just as you fear you'll be parked on the side of the road, dining minivan style and doing your business in the bushes, your husband spots a sophisticated family friendly oasis in the middle of nowhere...there are picnic tables, a large and modern playground, a bocce ball court, a grassy lawn, beautiful flowers...and a tasting room. Perfect--you can take turns tasting while each of you watches the kids. To top it off, an impeccably decorated immaculate bathroom awaits you.
And that is how we experienced the nicest rest stop ever, finished off with a spot of port. With three little ones in tow, that was a first! -

The first of my Yorkville appelation wineries. They are known for their Syrah and Port. Our pourer was very enthusiastic and really loved her wines. I really like their 2005 Mendocino Syrah. I left with two bottles and very excited to open them in the future.
