When I just looked this place up, I was a little shocked by the low rating. It's not perfect by any stretch but anyway.
It's in a nice location and the food is good. The chips and salsa were very good and the portion sizes were exactly what we needed after a long day out and about.
The service was just acceptable, any slower and I'd have docked another 0.5 star.
The problem was that after the meal, the location became a problem. There were more flies of some kind around the outside of place (due to being next to almost stagnant water) than I care to ever see again. You could not get back to the car without a whole bucketload making it inside as well. Not good. It's not quite the restautant's fault but just fyi on those later summer nights.... -

I usually listen to fellow Yelpers and I apologize to all those who provided a review that I failed to use when making my decision. If I could give stars for scenery I would give several but for food and service I am hard pressed to give 1. As all others reports THIS PLACE BLOWS. Poor quality food. Taco Bell kitty corner is better quality food even if the meet is unknown, cheaper and better service. Do not waste your money and save your stomach the misery. Nothing good to say other than the view of the river.
DO NOT EAT HERE!!! HORRIBLE!!! -

Should've read the reviews before hand. Oh well.
This place is alright. What it lacks in quality of food, makes up in the scenery and patio.
Thankfully it was nice out, so we chose to sit on the patio. Nice view of the lower dells. The smell of dead fish and brown foam from the jet boats not so great, but like that they had a patio.
Service was alright. Just the right amount of attentive.
Food tastes very Wisconsin Dells, if that makes any sense. It was just kind of bland, lacked pizazz, flavor and authenticity.
The chips were dull and the "spicy" green salsa that came out was this creepy green blob.
Rice was pretty good.
Not a place I would rush back to food wise, but the scenery and patio are nice options. -

STAY AWAY!!!!! THIS PLACE IS A TOURIST TRAP!!!!!!!!!!
WHY IS MEXICALI ROSE STILL OPEN?!?!
My family and I came to this place a couple of years ago and this still stands as the WORST "Mexican restaurant" (it shouldn't even be allowed to call it's self "Mexican") we've ever encountered! As Mexican Americans, we were absolutely insulted by the horrid quality of food and absolutely terrible service. I've never seen an entire dinning room of upset customers before....none of us finished the crap they served us. I ordered the "Wisconsin Enchiladas"....I should have known better. It tasted like they poured a variety of shredded cheese bags, glopped some ketchup on it and microwaved it. I warn everybody who goes to the Dells to steer clear of this place.
YOU'RE WAAAAAY BETTER OFF AT TACO BELL....seriously. -

I've been wanting to try this place for the last 2 times we been in the Dells. So this pass weekend we were there and I got the chance. It was HORRIBLE! The food and our waiter! The salsa tasted like canned diced tomatoes, no onion, cilantro or anything. Just plain tomatoes! I ordered the steak taco combo plate, it was ground beef! They ground all their steak meat which I don't like at all and the rice was flavorless. Their portion size is SMALL for the price. I will never recommend this place to anybody!
You are better off going to Taco Bell. More bang for your buck and way better tasting food there! -

I'm a fan! I had a huge blue margarita, which makes me very HAPPY! My boyfriend and I split the fajitas they were awesome! Our waiter was hilarious too, I would go back just to hang out with him.
Word to the wise don't eat this and then a giant ice cream cone and then go to the haunted house. You may throw up, at least that's what I did.Listed in: Chicago's Best Eats

Food - Terrible. Chips tasted worse than Tostitos. Salsa had a horrible flavor to it. McDonalds has better steak fajita meat than this place. Food was expensive for what you got.
Soda- Premium price and you don't get a refill.
Service- Took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to eat and it wasn't even good
We should have ran when we saw a kid throw up on the table when we arrived and of course the only table open for us was the one right by the puke.

Pedro's is better!!!!
Upon walking into this place for the very first time, and I've been to the Dells quite a bit over the years, we witnessed an entire meal fall to the floor and shatter all of the plates before we were even seated. I didn't know we were going to get a show too!!! Heh. Had I been just a second slower to walk through the door, I could have been splattered by the hot food, possibly burned, and gotten our meal for free. Darn the luck...
So we sit down to order and get our obligatory chips and salsa delivered. I'm telling you, I've had better chips and salsa from the grocery store, and these tasted like the cheap brands from the bag and from the jar (or can, whatever). I wasn't impressed, to say the least.
When the waitress brought out the drinks, it was by sheer luck that the girls had wandered off to the restroom, otherwise my wife would have gotten ice-cold margarita in her lap. ** What IS it with us??? **
I mistakenly ordered an enchilada plate that had absolutely NO meat in it. That was MY fault, but just to save anyone else from doing the same, read the entire description of the menu item before ordering. So I chalked that up to my own error and dealt with it, but there was no excuse for the rice, which was completely flavorless and dry, and the bean, which were NOT dry, but still flavorless.
Oh, but there's the waterfront view. Yep, you get to watch water flowing over the dam, and an occasional jet boat full of water-logged folks coming into the dock. Ok, it beats sitting inside a darkened dining room in the middle of a boring town somewhere, but not by much. I've definitely had better. -

This place is amazing-- but only if you want to have tourist trap mexican food that gives you "explosive" food poisoning.

I cannot believe that this restaurant served me a delicious meal. With it being right in the heart of all that is corny about the Dells, I was expecting utter crap. But, I was pleasantly surprised.
The first table we sat at was being dripped on from some duct overhead, but the hostess immediately found us a new table. There's a nice view of the dam and river, which is probably even nicer from their outdoor patio. Our waiter was great, very friendly and attentive, and Portuguese. You don't see a lot of Portuguese waiters in the Dells.
The chips were sub-par, the salsa was pretty good (it's better if you mix some hot into the mild), and the margaritas were very drinkable (if not mind-blowing). I had a pain in the ass-type of order, requesting that the green chile vegetarian burrito be made into a chimichanga. But they were happy to accommodate me, and it was surprisingly delicious. The rice and beans were acceptable.
Really, give this place a try. I will definitely return on my next visit to the area. -

For a Mexican spot in the Dells this place was decent. I ordered the taco dinner, that came with the choices of steak, carnitas, chicken or beef.
I had the steak & carnitas.....the steak was tough and it was marintated in something that made it tast sweet. NOT GOOD!
However, the carnitas were AWESOME!!!
The rice was HORRIBLE!!!
the waiter didnt know much about the menu.....but thats ok.
And I paid 7 buck for a SMALL guacamole. WTF!?!!!!
Other than that.....It wasnt too bad. The service was quick, customer service was fantastic. -

Had a terrible meal here and will not return. I can't believe it's even open. Chips, stale the salsa was unforgettable for being terrible. The meal had lettuce that was so old I was scared. I am just thankful that I didn't get sick. Yikes, never again!

Great location, great view....cool atmosphere....average food. Plus getting attacked by bugs for sitting outside is the opposite of cool.

Ok food, not the best. Chimichangas were ok. Chips and salsa low quality. This place advertised its great reviews, but as has been the case for much of the Mexican food in Wisconsin, the quality was just not there. Atmosphere was neat, and I believe they have good drink specials.

I was thoroughly impressed with the service, price, and most of all the quality of the food. This place was really busy even though we went up there when the crowds in the Dells are not usually that bad. It looks like that the secret may be out on this place. If you really like well prepared Mexican food give this place a try

This place is poor all the way around. OK, water view, but you can only look at the dam for so long. Service was lackluster, but the big test always is the food. I actually liked the salsa, I see others who didn't but that was about the only thing I liked. The rice and beans were both awful. I didn't eat them after the first bite of each. I had seafood enchiladas that were OK but not great. I won't be going back and I'd advise someone looking for Mexican in this area to try somewhere else.
