For people in North Hollywood who like to PRETEND they are in Hollywood Hollywood, Mexicali turns the trick. The outside patio with bright fuchsia flowers cascading down the sides sets the mood. I have seen random cast members of 'American Pie' there, sitting outside with their sunglasses on at night acting like mafucking Brangelinas.

I will give them credit for this: only place in the valley that serves decent sugar free low carb margaritas. The Jessica Simpson margarita is a good investment if you are a drunk and don't want to get fat.

The chips and salsa don't help the waist line but are delicious.

By the time we get to the main course, which is usually crab enchiladas, I should not be trusted to review anything. I've had so many margatinis that I'm rendered STOOO-PIT.

Margatinis...... Let me just say, are one of my favorite drinks on this God forsaken planet. It's like a tequila-margarita-martini with a "special ingredient." This ingredient could very well be lighter fluid because after 2 of these things I'm ready to BIRD BIRD BIRD BABY BIRD IS THE WORD across Ventura Boulevard.

Like I said before, every time I've stuffed my face with a food item here, I've been too drunk to tell if it's really good. Once I vaguely remember really enjoying some sort of crab dip, but after 4 well margaritas and 2 margatinis, I'd probably eat a shit sandwich and give it 5 stars.

The male waiters are definitely the hot Hollywood types, but they're actually really fake friendly and funny (where as the ones in Hollywood don't even PRETEND to be nice). There was a waiter there that my best friend and I fancied. His name was Beth (we think his name might be Ben but we were too drunk to  figure this out). We love to sit outside, get loaded and give him the "lazy eye/bedroom eye" and yell "BETH! BETH! BRING US MORE MARGATINIS!"

The view is nice during sunset too--you know, palm trees and all that. California is all about North Hollywood wannabees and palm trees and waiters named Beth.

YUCK ! Went back here, who knows why.
Food was terrible.
Refried beans were possibly the worst I have ever had.
Enchiladas without cheese? What the heck ?
Margaritas were average.
Service was fine, friendly, but will never go back. Sorry.

Sorry if there are typos in this review, as my eyes are still sensitive to light from being in the dim-lit Mexicali restaurant...

I mean, there's mood lighting, and then there's Mexicali.  It's just...so dark.  Like so dark their Scream statue decoration for Halloween literally made me think I was being attacked...

Anyways, on to the food, which also gave me a fright...

The Bad:

1. guac. lots of people have already mentioned it, it is LACKING dude! I mean when pre-made store bought guac is better you gotta change your recipe.  the portion size is abysmal, consistency not chunky, taste is really bland, it's just like man, don't order the guac!

2. chips - really greasy, friend to no crunch. bleh, stomach ache here i come!

The neutral:

I got the Kobe Beef enchiladas.  The sauce was on the bland side, not as tangy as say, the enchiladas I had at Cha Cha Chicken in Santa Monica - this sauce had no kick to it!  The beef was mushy...not like the kobe beef i've tasted in the past.

The good:

1. Rice & Beans: tasty tasty!!

2. Service was great! Our waiter was awesome and very attentive.

3. and ok, I know everyone has mentioned it, but 30% off?! ok, like that's hard to beat, I mean I paid $7 for my enchiladas.  Like okkkk!

Overall: 2.5 because I'm buckling down on my mexi-morsels.  Look if you wanna charge more for tacos and burritos then you gotta beat chipotle OK?!  Even if you have a good looking staff ain't gonna make a difference if they're servin' subpar food ya hear?!

Come for the drinks and the ambiance - go elsewhere for dinner.  The food is horrible, chips are stale and full of grease.  I live down the road and have tried it again and again - same story.  Fun place for drinks - the food needs improving!

Went here with a large group of co-workers at lunch and had a blast!

Parking: a good amount since the lot behind the building is shared with Ralph's and CVS :)

Ambiance: fun and festive. Lots to look at on the walls, clearly welcomes both intimate and loud guests! :)

Wait service: Great, super attentive, cleaver and funny. We had a big group and two waiters really served our needs well. Even made sure our birthday girl got a few "special drinks" and laughs on the house!

Food: OMG. I had some sort of fried cheese plate that was my personal little heaven. Also had a salad that was filling yet light at the same time. Had enough to take home to enjoy for later, too! Tortilla chips = light, fluffy, salty, genesis.

Drinks: Fiesta! We had several pitchers of margaritas to go around and they were heavenly. And if that doesn't do it for you, then the full wine list should!

No 5th star only because I felt the place was a bit pricey, but we did get alot of food for what we paid for, come to think of it. Well, what my boss paid for! I'll be back ;)

From all accounts the real Mexicali in Mexico is a complete dump, how apt that this place has recreated it's food!

How can you screw up Mexican food in Los Angeles, someone please tell me??  This place was absolutely woeful.  First piece of advice, DO NOT ORDER THE GUACAMOLE APPETIZER!!!  From memory this appetizer was $8, the laughably small portion of guacamole we got for it was a complete joke.  Bland and tasteless too.  I asked the waitress was that the standard size of the guacamole and she rolled her eyes and said 'uh huh', she was then pissy with us for the rest of the meal.

Completely thrown by the small size of the appetizer I thought I had better order something big to fill me up.  I ordered a Kobe Beef Burrito for my entree.  Now I have eaten Kobe beef (or the US version of it) many times in the past.  If that was Kobe beef I'm Kobe Bryant.  Tasteless mince in one of the worst burritos I have ever eaten.

To emphasize how bad this place was I went to a La Salsa for lunch the following day and the burrito I had there put Mexicali's food to shame.

I definitely won't be back.

Recently, i've been getting more and more tolerant of Mexican food. (For those of you who don't know, i HATED Mexican food all of my life and couldn't even stand to look at it haha. It was an intense hatred.)
But that's behind me now and little by little i'm able to handle Mexican food more and more, and even almost enjoy it. Kind of.
At least when it comes to alcohol. :]

For one of my best friends+her boyfriend's 21st birthdays (yes, they have the same birthday) midnight dinner we came to Mexicali because it's close by and they're open late/have fantastic margaritas and a verrrrrrry extensive selection of tequila (about 50 different kinds).

As for food, I got an order of guacamole which was about $5 and it was a tiny ass plate of it. Basically enough for just me. AND it wasn't even that good. We weren't that hungry so we got a quesadilla and some chicken taquitos to split and they were alright. The quesadilla was EXTREMELY oily though. But i was drunk so i didn't really give a shit.
We were going to get the Mango margarita to start off with but we overheard another table talking about how it was way too sweet, so we just stuck to a regular margarita. And it was pretty tasty and strong. It definitely got the job done.
Our waiter was kind of annoying. Hot, but annoying none the less. Bummer

I would be down to come back to Mexicali again if it wasn't so trendy and overrated. But their drinks are worth a second visit. Maybe even a third. :]

HOT MEN, HOT ENCHILADAS AND COOL MARGATINIS! The servers and bartenders are young and you know! My cougar friends love a night out and we share the steak machos. Great. They are huge. That's a good thing, we wash it all down with the Slim margaritas. The chips are hot, fresh and the salsa spicy, The way I like my men. I am a total veg head. All of the beans, rice, salsa, soups are vegetarian and Gluten free. I can still fit into my TIGHT jeans after I eat there. Everyone is real friendly, food and drinks great and is a great place to take your women friends. I saw my old boy friend here one night when I was with my new boy friend, kinda awkward, but kinda HOT!

This place looks always to be a hot happening spot, but don't let that fool you about the food being good. It's average at best. If you can't get a table and try to grab a drink at the bar you'll be bumped, have to shuffle around, and damn near have to grab the bartender by the neck just to order a drink!  It gets loud, it gets packed, the salsa is passable, the guacamole is just barely, rice and beans are ok, I had some enchiladas with mole that were just ok, nothing great, had some beef tacos that were just ok. In fact I've given up on coming here for flavorful good food, and occasionally just come for drinks when it isn't too busy with all the wannabe actors and models, or cougars on the prowl.

This place has been a favorite to my work and it very good for large parties. The service is great and the waiters are not so bad to look at either. I always get something with Ahi Tune and I have always enjoyed the food. The chips are pretty good, but sometimes not so great. On the weekends the restaurant is packed, but come Monday night, they have a great deal with 30% off all meals and select drink discounts. It's not so busy then as well. If you have trouble seeing beware! There is major mood lighting and if your eyes can't adjust you'll be unable to read the menu. My favorite part, they're open really late!

Mexicali is another decent Mexican food place in the valley.  The best thing about Mexicali is the location, parking, and the fact that I damn near always get hit on by a married woman when I'm here.  I think it may be that cologne I bought at the 99cent store called "Javier".

For some reason their idea of good guacamole is a plate with a spoon sized offering of the stuff.  I've never understood this.  I always end up ordering four or five of them and spending way too much on just guacamole.  Otherwise the food is ok and they make a pretty solid margarita.  It won't blow your mind but it's not bad.

You can find me at the bar reenacting the Graduate with Mrs. Robinson.

Excellent case of style over substance.  And the reason that I give three stars instead of two is because sometimes feeling stylish is just what I'm looking for.

So to deconstruct this place for a minute, the ambiance is meant to look old pueblo-ish on the inside but comfortable.  The waitstaff is made up of a who's who of dashing, struggling actors who for their sake I hope have better acting chops than serving skills.  Not to say service was terrible, it was well meaning just forgetful.

The food is middle of the road.  They have a pretty varied menu of bastardized Mexican food with a helping of creativity thrown in for good measure.  Ribeye carne asada, Margartinis (trademarked) blue crab enchiladas, none of which was bad just not really great.  But like I said a moment ago, this is more of a spot to be seen looking good and to meet good looking people than to savor every last bite on your plate.

So, in the on going battle between style and substance where substance usually comes out the victor, the case of Mexicali Cocina is not so cut and dry and I give them credit for not trying to be something they are not.  Sure you can get more delicious, keeping-it-real authentic Mexican food at countless other restaurants, stores, stands and trucks in a three mile radius, but I never got the chance to chat [briefly] with Dr. Dre at any of those other spots (he's taller than I pictured) while waiting for the bartender to pour my Mexihattan.

Style and substance will live to fight another day.

Had to facilitate a little business lunch here the other day.  Albeit I am new to the area and have never heard of this place, it seemed more of a drinking hole than a restaurant.

The food however, was pretty good.  If a taco truck pulled up out front however, I would eat at it next time, but that is so I just did not have to give the waiter a tip. The guy had one table, a two top, I was sitting at it.  Let's say I was a producer of the TV show you want to be on, well if your work ethic reflected your acting skills, START LEARNING HOW TO WASH THE DISHES AS WELL, CAUSE RENT IS DUE ON THE FIRST!!

Kind of like bland green paste, that's what their guacamole is. Its disappointing in both its size and taste. I originally came here not for the food, but because it's open to 2am and that's rare in The Valley. The bar is cool, the large booths that accommodate gordo Americans are nice, the salads with Balsamic are tasty, and my go to is their Ahi Burrito. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may see me playing in the mariachi band. I'm the white dude playing the triangle. It takes awhile to spot me sometimes.

Mexicali is a Mexican restaurant where you would potentially take your grandma from North Dakota because she has never had Mexican food before and you hate her guts. Its not even Mexican. Its a bland poser version of the spicy and exciting cuisine from south of the border. It is almost like a laser projection of actual Mexican faire. Like the April Fools joke of Mexican food. Ok I think you get it.

We were seated on the patio right away. We waited almost ten minutes to even be seen by a waiter, who only had two other tables. I think he was playing craps with the cooks in the kitchen. Or checking his Facebook page... I have no idea. When he finally did notice us, he came and took our drink order. I requested the heaters be turned on because it was dusk and getting a bit chilly. My dad wanted to sit outside... not my idea. After another 5-10 minutes passed, our chips arrived. Still no beer. Shortly after my fifth chip, our beers arrived. The waiter took our order and disappeared again. He returned 20 minutes later with subpar food.

I ordered the Braised Beef plate. See pictures. There was a lot wrong with this plate.

- The meat was flavorless- tender, but flavorless
- What in the feck was that huge mound of corn/bell peppers for? Was it a side dish? Why did my plate consist of mainly this shit? Was it supposed to be consumed? Please explain. It was gross. Rename the dish "Corn & Bell Pepper Relish with a side of meat and mashed potatoes"
- Why on earth would you give me mashed potatoes with Mexican food? explain in full detail. Give me some goddamn rice and beans!
- The tortillas were supposed to be homemade. Why were they all broken? Why were they cold? Did you expect me to use them in pieces?
- I could have sworn it said that it came with onions and cilantro. One sprig of cilantro is not sufficient. 1/12 of an onion is also not sufficient.
- No condiments. No sour cream. No guac. No salsa.

Dad ordered the Carnitas plate. See pictures. He seemed to enjoy it. But my father would eat dog food if you put it in front of him.

- At least Dad's plate came with rice and beans
- The rice looked like it was made by Rice a Roni. It looked boxed.
- The frijoles negros looked decent. Probably straight from the can.
- A small bit of sour cream and guac. Dad had to ask for more and the food got cold before he got the re-up of condiments.

Overall, I'm sorry, but this place sucked. Don't bring grandma here. And, yes, I know you don't even hate your grandma.

There is such a thing as cheese overload. I came here for a quick drink and bite, got a whiskey sour, the nachos and queso fundido. Happy hour prices were great, 3 bucks for the appetizers. Nachos were great, good amount of food and that would have been satisfying, but I did order the queso fundido and out came this delicious block of baked cheese with mushrooms. My heart reacted angrily to the increased salt level in my bloodstream; I almost couldn't finish it but finally did the deed like a good boy should.

Yes, it's douchey, lots of Ryan Seacrest clones, it's LA, what do you expect? Go for happy hour and enjoy the Nu-Mex cuisine and low prices.

The short of it is this: if you want good mexican food, go somewhere else, if you want a good strong margarita, go to mexicali.

There are definite pro's of Mexicali; The fact that there is abundant free parking in the back is one of them, the ambiance of the restaurant is pretty decent (as long as you aren't seated in the back section which used to be out-take cafe, and is just a little weird), though it is quite noisy and their music selection a bit odd, service is very, very fast and polite, and their salsa is quite yummy...

...but the main drawing point of mexicali is definitely their MARGARITAS...strong, delicious and reasonably priced. If you are craving a margarita, this is the place to go.

Now, the biggest con of going to Mexicali is the food...it's not bad food, not at all, it just not that good...and it's definitely not real Mexican...actually, it's kind of like what you might expect if you went to someones house in the Connecticut for Mexican night. Like another yelper said, it might be a good place to take your grandparent's for 'Mexican food'...they'd probably love it...

Very cute cantina on the lovely strip of restaurants/cafes along Ventura Boulevard.  The food was good, with the exception of the rubber band I was chewing on from the salsa - yes, my salsa had a rubber band in it which kind of scarred my chips & salsa portion of dinner.

Had the Ahi Tuna Salad --probably should have gotten something more mexican but the salad was alright.  Pretty good prices!

Beware of the salsa!

The only thing cool, was the really cute hostess girl. Hi.

The food here isn't really very good, it's all quite bland. The margaritas are a bit too syrupy. And the service is pretty much lackluster.

But, if the only goal is to sit around and drink shots of tequila, i'm sure this place is fine. Beware of the back steps though, they're steep, a little slippery and if you're wearing your wobbly boot, you're toast.

I do like the vibe here (we came around 5pm, and sat on the patio, so i have no idea what it's like during the dinner/after dinner rush). And yes, the waiters are all quite good looking. However, after we were seated right away, it seemed they forgot about us...it took forever to take our order, and even longer to get us the check.

As for the food, the chips are pretty good, but the salsa could be a little more flavorful. Definitely needs more spice. I got the burrito verduras, and the beans on the side were good, but for some reason, they put all the cheese on the ends of the burrito, so the middle was just a ton of rice. Meh. My friend's enchiladas were decent.

I guess I'd come back here to try their drinks, but the food was subpar.

I have  mix reviews about this place.
The ambiance is really cool, Friday afternoon and nights are awesome, great for lunch during the week and it also has a great bar.

Jessica Simpson Margaritas .. you have to try it..
The food is good, semi-gourmet Mexican cuisine.

My complaint is about the staff, as many waiters they come and go but if you have  the luck to encounter own in a bad day can ruin your entire experience in a place that  probably is better than that person.

I would recommend managers to educate your staff in international cuisine before hiring people that are not willing to explain " what taquitos are". for many Californians , they are very acquainted with the Mexican culture but for the rest of us foreigners, if we request an detailed explanation of what  is...  PLEASE...

DON'T ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME LIKE I'M SOME KIND OF IDIOT WITH AN ACCENT  AND A VERY INSULTING TONE OF VOICE TELLING ME  A TACO AND A TAQUITO ARE THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT SIZE.

I've came back after a while and we got a different waitress, she was delightful very educated and  she was very pleasant, I gave mexicali a second chance and I was not dissapointed.

My menu favs.

Queso fundido
Chicken fajitas
Chicken Tortilla Soup ( very creamy )
and  Jessica Simp. Margarita.~

Went on Friday night with a group of 6
Packed bar and restaurant.  Waited for about 30+ minutes, but it was fine because I enjoyed a margarita at the bar while admiring the supercute bartenders.

The food was good from what I could tell, but we didn't actually order many entrees.  Appetizers and booze, pretty much.  I loved my shrimp cocktail and chips 'n dip, and the quesadillas were delicious.  I was kinda underwhelmed with the guacamole though....sigh.

I just landed a job pretty much right across the street, so I definitely intend to go back.  Maybe I'll get a better idea of the rest of the menu.

Okay, my friends and I have been going to Mexicali's off and on for about 3 years now. The only reason we go is because the drinks are made very well ( and by very well I mean if your looking to get very buzzed off of one drink). The food is not the best, honestly, it kinda sucks. The service is great though, some may find the waiters slightly pretentious, they are sometimes described as "struggling actors" haha. Another good thing about this place is that it's open til 2 a.m.!

Okay, I'm trying not to tarnish my review of this place since this is the place where my ex and I had THE WORST encounter EVER, resulting in never speaking to each other again.  But, coincidentally, the appetizer I had was not particularly good, AND the adorable and sweet waiter divulged a fact that I was disturbed to learn:  The taco platter's contents all come in a plastic baggie that means the rice, beans and taco meats MUST be served together.  For a nice looking place, the fact that they can't serve a la carte is a little scary.   So, I didn't get the tacos, I actually got the Maryland Blue Crab cocktail and a Raspberry margarita on the rocks.

The margarita was lackluster.  Balance was not achieved, and my drink tasted more like a bunch of watered down fruit juice and some raspberry seed floaters mixed with sugar.

The crab cocktail?  Oh man.  I never used to believe East Coasters who insisted there WAS no such thing as good Maryland Blue Crab out here on the West Coast.  Well, I had it on the East Coast, loved it, and ordered it at this place hoping for the same result.  Well, it was NOT good.  The crab sat atop some weird sour cream that tasted like a cheap grocery store dip, and it ruined the crab at the bottom of the heap.  Crab is crab, kids, and even when it isn't GOOD, it is still crab, until it is drowned in a nasty sour cream.

I won't be returning...and it isn't because my ex was a giant asshat to me in the restaurant.  The food is lackluster.

You have to try the shrimp quesadilla, yummy.  This place offers lots of different options.  The only way I can describe Mexicali food is that it's not your regular concoction of Mexican food.  The flavor is different but you may like it.  I think I taste garlic in most of their dishes.

The drinks are good and this place stays open till 2am.  They give a last call at 1:50am.  They also serve full menu food till 1am I believe.  It's certainly worth a shot and listen, I love Mexican food and it's not as bad as some of the reviewers say.  You'll just have to try for yourself.

This place also gets so loud with music and people talking, you can't have a conversation without speaking up.  It's a good people watching bar for you to see all the "out of work" so called actors, wannabe's and porn stars.....

I tried Mexicali not too long ago at the urging of my friend who insisted that it was an awesome Mexican joint. The first time I went, I was not impressed. I mean, the ambiance seemed very trendy -- the lighting was quite dark, very much like a bar/lounge, which it pretty much feels like. I had their signature margarita, which was actually quite yummy, but the food was another story. It wasn't BAD, it just wasn't very good. I think I ordered a chicken tamale that didn't quite hit the spot. I left feeling a mixture of "wow, that was a cool place" as well as "man, the food was whack!"

Needless to say I have been here a handful of times since that initial experience and I stick by my guns. Each time I have come back was only to bring someone who hadn't been and really wanted to check it out. Don't order the chicken tortilla soup -- unless you are a HUGE fan of raw tasting onions. The lobster tacos were good, but a tad bit too cheesy for my taste. I think my favorite food item from here is the shrimp and crab quesadilla. I definitely approve of that one!

I also don't recommend going on a Friday night unless you want to wait forever. It's not bad, but it's definitely more trendy than it is quality...

I have been to Mexicali once, and to be honest, can't even tell you what I had or how it tasted.  I was too busy drooling on myself while staring at the hot host with the even hotter ass*.

The food seemed pretty standard, nothing stood out and I got the impression people came here more for the scene rather than the fare.  However, I do remember having the strawberry margarita which was quite delicious.

*Even though the room was very dimly lit and I was about 8 tequila shots deep, I stand by my claim that the host was muy fuego.

First impressions are good until you meet the attitude-problem hostess, whom you wouldn't mind slapping.

Part A:

I have been to Mexi-cali two times. And I am wondering why? WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER and EVER and then go sit, eat quickly and go. Some of you would tell me to eat slowly, but you just can't cos people are waiting after you, and there is more waiting and waiting...and lot more waiting, did I mention waiting? Basically on weekends you spend more time waiting than actually being there.

Part B:

Margaritas are good, the salads are good, the quiesadillas are good and your stomach exploding not that good. (After all Mexican food gets you stuffed)

Part C:

You can go somewhere else without waiting.

p.s. I am against waiting more than 15 minutes. Ciao

I love their white washed Mexican menu including their Kobe beef tacos.  I got the sample platter that was pretty oily goodness.  I love fried anything.  The weird thing was that they gave me a side of ranch with ketchup in the middle for the shrimp cocktail that came with my sample platter.  Maybe next time they could separate the ketchup from the ranch because I don't really know anyone short of weed smoking potheads who want to dip their cheesy taquitos in ketchup ranch.  Overall, I thought the food was decent and I would come back for more.  I love their salsa although their chips are a little flimsy.

Next time maybe I could get a server that was more on the ball too.  I got an iced tea and it took her about 20 minutes to bring me sweetener.  The alcoholic drinks taste like fuel - they need to hire a bartender that can actually mix drinks.  Try not to get seated in that lame side room to the right.  It's where they place the ugly, the socially stunted, and the retarded - all of the people they don't want the general public to see.  It looks like they bought out an old school dinner and added a walk way to their normal eating area.  It is awful.

I used to love this place, however over the past year or so I have been disappointed time and time again.  Last time I was there, was my last!  I went with my gf and we started with the lobster quesadilla which I would offically deem inedible.

We also got the fajitias which used to be awesome, but the meats were not sizziling upon delivery and the vegetables were steamed instead of grilled!  Not to mention, I think the portion size continuously has been decreasing.  There was no flavor to both the meats and vegetables. Everything just seemed so bland from the presentation to the actual taste.

This place is always busy and i dont know why? Is there no other Mexican place to eat in the valley? Definitely wont be returning EVER

This place was very good.  I came here on my first night in Los Angeles hanging with the mighty Sean and Sara.  I exclaimed "lets start this party right, pitchers of margaritas galore!".  The restaurant was beautiful and the food was excellent!  I had the blue crab and shrimp burritos with muchos margaritas!  If I am ever in LA again, I will make a trek to Studio City just to go here.

O.k., I was here yesterday around 5-ish. The bar was full, so we stood by the host area, hoping for a seat. Oh, about 15 servers/bussers/employees passed by us, pretending they did not see us. That's the point where I usually leave, however, it was like 90 degrees outside and I didn't want to get back in the damn car. We sat ourselves on the warm patio; at least there were fans out there.

Our server didn't want to be there, he was talking to his friends the majority of the time, and I saw him get upset when the hostess tried seating his section after we sat down. (Just be glad you have a job!)
On the plus side, our food arrived right away, and our drinks were refilled when we needed them.

Based on that experience alone, I would not return. Luckily, I know the bar area is completely different from having a server.

This is a happy hour review as we all know I love happy hour.

They have a bunch of deals for 2.95 but everything is small, really small, asian penis small.

I got the taquitos and even for around $3 feel I got ripped off. Everyone else was brought out chips, but no, not me.

The margarita was barely passable but it was a happy hour special.

This is NOT a place to go to for happy hour, unless you are looking for an unhappy hour.

Been here on a few occasions, for some reason I end up here when friends want to go get some food and drinks near Studio City, and yes, it's A-Ok. It has a good location, plenty of free parking (rare in LA), about a 1/2 dozen plasmas to watch games, and it has some damn good chips and nachos, and good margaritas.

The negatives -- the drinks are LA-prices for Studio City-quality... now I sound like a snob, but there are few places I'm willing to pay for a $10 gin & tonic outside of Hollywood, and Mexicali is not one of them.

But I will say, they stay true to the valley spirit, just check out their old photos of LA posted all around, and it gives a glimpse of the origin of the Mexicali name
