Jean, the manager of this location, is great! I had to have a pair of heels re-soled, which I had trashed one too many times (I think puddles were the last straw), and to have a Chloé bag cleaned and repaired a bit at the handles. She explained to me what to expect (i.e. my bag would be a bit hard from the cleaning, but it would become its buttery self again with wear), and also took note that I'm flying out tomorrow.
Easy to reach through email, which is great since I"m not much of a phone person. And also very accommodating. -

I was in New York a few weeks ago for a wedding and borrowed a friend of a friend's cocktail dress for the occasion. The dress was amazing and cost several times my rent, which is why I literally cried when I saw the state of it in the morning.
The mother of the bride recommended Meurice's Garment Care. They were exceptionally professional and prompt and the dress looked absolutely perfect. I don't know how they did it! The service was unparalleled and the quality was noticeably better than my dry cleaner at home. Meurices' saved the dress, saved the day, and made me a lifelong fan. -

Great apartment cleaning service! Highly recommend! The cleaners were thorough - especially when cleaning my area rugs and chandeliers.

I was quite pleased with the excellent service provided. I was in New York concerning a legal matter, and when my garment bag arrived, my Versace tailored suit was dusty, dirty and wrinkled. After having spent some time on the phone with Delta, who offered little consolation, I ventured on down to the closest dry cleaner- Maurice Garment care, which was lucky, since I needed same-day service (which was arranged at a price, unlike the hotel's service), although I did pay a little more--- I was happy to find that they did a wonderful job in restoring my suit back to its former glory.

Meurice Garment Care is the best in the city, and my husband and I have tried numerous dry cleaners. If you have clothes that you want to be well cared for and hold up over time, this is the place to go. Jean, the manager of the midtown location also provides amazing customer service, going above and beyond to respond to customer needs in a friendly and efficient manner.

They do a pretty good job but given the prices, I wish the results would be more consistent. I brought in several items to be tailored/repaired, including a cashmere sweater that had a small hole and a top that needed the zipper replaced. They were very good with two hemming jobs and did a pretty good job with the cashmere sweater, which was repaired using yarn that they "mined" from other parts of the sweater. I was impressed with their technique and while the repair wasn't flawless, it wasn't noticeable except upon close inspection, and I do know it's a difficult job.
I was very disappointed with the zipper repair, however, as it was sewn in crooked and left a noticeable dent in the top when worn. I took it back and they were happy to correct it, but it still came back wavy and just generally off. I eventually took it to another tailor who was able to install the zipper correctly.
I have not yet used their cleaning services.Comment from Wayne E. of Meurice Garment Care 9/16/2009

For what they charge for dry cleaning, I may as well just buy new clothes. To add insult to injury, the staff is snooty and condescending.

I brought my size 12 Chantilly beaded lace wedding dress to be altered to a size 10 and a couple of months later, got it back re-shaped and beautiful. It went from a loose mermaid, three-quarter lace sleeve with straight neckline puddle to a ravishing just off the shoulder lace cap sleeve sweetheart neckline dazzler. My dress was a big job as there was also beading all over the delicate lace, and the under layers were made of champagne colored silk and chiffon. The zipper was ill-fitting and the back of the dress didn't lay straight across my back. The dress was a couture sample and I didn't realize how much work would have to go into it - I don't think I would have bought it if I had! I took it around to several other places, one of whom actually told me I couldn't change the straight neckline to sweetheart. I remembered Meurice from my days trolling University Place at NYU and was thrilled to find they had a midtown office down the block from my work. I brought my dress in and after a lengthy consultation, I gulped and gave my dress to them to make over. I was so impressed with their extraordinary customer service that I asked them to alter my second wedding dress as well, a lemon chiffon beaded number, that had scary necklines, and they did that too beautifully. Jean, the branch manager, is a rockstar. She is genuine, warm, dedicated, and Roma, my seamstress did wonders with my dress. They are not inexpensive but I figured for a once in the lifetime occasion such as my wedding, scrimping was not the way to go. And believe me, I was on a budget. The only thing I wasn't happy about was she cut my lace too short in the front so I could walk without tripping on my shoes, but it ended up being an uneven hemline which shows in my pictures. I had also asked her to make tight cap sleeves but she only did half of what I asked, so I had almost butterfly cap sleeves. I think what happened was they quoted me too low a price for the work they did and they ran out of time - my dress was a big job as everything had to be done by hand. The job wasn't perfect but they worked hard to make an already lovely gown into a unique, striking and enhanced creation. The professionals at Meurice are good at what they do, they treat your garments as carefully as you would yourself, and their customer service is unparalleled in the city.

My experience at Meurice Garment Care is worth writing about. I have used a number of dry cleaners in the area however Meurice Garment raised the bar. I brought my husband's suit and shirts to Meurice and it is the first time in years he has not complained. The customer service was terrific. An all around stellar experience.
