Their steaks could cause a FOOD ORGASM! Oh My God - By far the best steak I have ever tasted! Totally Seattle - Only in Seattle will people wear incredibly casual clothes but pay 60 dollars for a steak - talk about unpretentious but reaks of MONAY! This place would receive 10 stars if I could give it.

I am not a huge steak person to say the least and my husband is a total meat eaters. First of all, it is ridiculously expensive but oh so worth it.  I never thought I would say that after our 160.00 dollar bill not including tip.
We started with the appetizer - beef 5 spice medallions (I havenever tasted steak so flavorful, so tender - unspeakably delicious). Then it was followed with the wedge salad - best I've tasted with apples. I ordered the garlic mash with halibut with dungeness crab topped with a bernaise sauce and asparagus. Oh good god - my taste buds were about to burst.  LORDY LORD. My husband's steak again was melt in your mouth tender and flavorful.
All of course was topped with the most unpretentious casual atmosphere. THE MOST EXCELLENT SERVICE.  Not rushed, amazing - seriously the rest of Seattle restaurants should come here and watch their waiters, bus boys etc... superb!.  Will be coming back again after we save up for another incredibly expensive meal!

All the carnivores at our table ordered the Ribeye. I usually like my ribeye medium rare. Our server recommended I cook mine just one notch higher (medium) so that the heat has a chance to melt the marbling. He was right. The ribeye was tender, very flavorful and juicy even cooked medium. I don't remember the sides but was sure they were  fantastic also. The lone vegetarian at our table ordered a Portobello Mushroom dinner. His meal was huge.

All in all, an awesome steakhouse. I would definitely come back the next time i am in Seattle.

Went there for the birthday dinner. Free Creme Brulee. Hell yeah!

Had probably one of the best steaks of my life. Opted for the Japanese and American Wagyu sampler (4oz of each). $70 is a lot for 8oz of steakums- but it was amazingly tasty and tender. Very glad I ordered it.

Wifey had the Prime Filet and it was very nice too.

Service was A+ and I'd go back in a second. I am a big fan of this place.

I hear their happy hour is a lot more reasonable.......

I suggest you give it a shot.

The steak is as good as it gets. My bf and I split the large porterhouse and it was one of the tenderest, juiciest, best cuts of meat that I've ever had.  They take their aging very seriously.  It was lightly seasoned and served perfectly medium rare.

Appetizers and sides didn't disappoint either.  Our iceberg wedge salad was fresh and crisp, and filled with blue cheese (maybe too much) and bacon.  The hot and savory French onion soup topped with a layer of gooey Swiss Emmentaler was the perfect starter on a cold, damp Seattle night.  Besides the soup, the star of the sides was the crab mac & cheese.  There were generous lumps of sweet crab in the hot mac, and the whole dish was set off by the buttery, crunchy, bread crumb topping.  The fries and the mashed potatoes were good too, but frankly, not memorable in comparison to the steak.

I guess that the meal wasn't cheap, but considering the quality of the food, I'd say that it was worth every penny.

The Met has got to be the most beautiful steakhouse I have ever been to.  I saw it in a magazine on my way to Seattle as one of the best steakhouses in the country so I felt compelled to check it out.  The place is amazing!!  I went there with a couple of friends and the ambiance was unreal.  I felt like I was in Casablanca or one of those old movies.  The food was delicious and I decided to order of Cristal to just celebrate a great trip and being with friends.  The service was impeccable and I recommend this place without any hesitation if you're in the mood for fine dining in Seattle.

I'm at a meeting in Seattle.  I've never been to this city before so I can thank Stephen L. for this recommendation.  He told me about this place and a couple other San Diegans confirmed the suggestion.

The place is located in downtown Seattle, within walking distance from our hotel, the Hyatt at Olive 8.  My wife and I had dinner there last night.  I tried for two days to get reservations but they are booked.  He got a seat in a nice booth at the bar with no wait and it was just fine.

The waitress was very nice and attentive.  They serve steak, burgers, chicken and seafood but you go there for the steak.  They have USDA Prime and this stuff they call Waygu.  In Japan it is the Kobe beef.  The Japanese Waygu is pricey-you'd have to mortgage your house to buy one of the steaks but they have an American Waygu and it is so good!  I can't imagine the stuff from Japan tasting any better.  I literally ate my steak with a fork and no knife it was that tender.  I don't think I've had as nice a steak at Donovan's, Greystone, Fleming's, Morton's or Ruth's Chris.  If you ever get to Seattle and can afford it, I highly suggest you try this place.

As good as it gets in Seattle. It's been a couple wks since we ate here but the taste of that beef is still in my head.
Hands down the best steaks in Seattle, more choices than you can shake a stick at. They have 2 pages of different varieties of beef to choose from.
I had the 3 way tasting of Japanese, American, and Prime. Wow, never have I been able to tell the vast difference until they are all side by side. The only way to truly enjoy the greatness of each steak.
We also had the Seafood sampler appetizer, which was an outrageous amount of seafood. The 3 of us were not able to finish this appetizer. It full of lobster, dungy claws, JUMBO prawns, raw oysters, and scallops. They were all prepared in wonderful ways. Too many details to describe.

Of course, the steak is King here! If you want the best piece of cooked meat you can buy in Seattle, come here. The desserts were giant sized and pleasant as well. The wait staff was some of the friendliest people I have had the pleasure dining with. They shared their knowledge endlessly and also talked about where they hunt for mushrooms in the area.

Thanks again for a wonderful meal!

Can't say enough good things about the Met. Can't afford to eat here more than once a year, either, but that's just me.

It's an institution that has earned its status. Seattle has so few of those, even for a city its size. Yeah, Seattle has only been around as a restaurant town for 100 years, at the most, but we really need to treasure our well-established places when they keep pulling their weight.

These guys absolutely know their steak. Cut, condition, aging, preparation, and plating all do great justice to what I consider the greatest treats at the table--spectacular pieces of beef. They are not at all shy with your credit card, because they know they are providing an exceptional product. So budget ahead. It's worth it.

I went with a gaggle of relatives, all steak lovers, some more attuned to fine dining than others. We got a great array of steaks around the table, even including the steak salad. For $29, with amazingly delicious slices of steak tossed in, the salad is a phenomenal bargain. Sounds ridiculous, $29 for a salad, but it's easily 2 entree servings, probably more like 3 if you're not eating with Walter Jones. The other 5 steak entrees around the table were all velvety, hugely flavorful, and cooked exactly to order. Side dishes were solid, workmanlike accompaniments. If there's truly such a thing as a $60 steak, and not a great steak that's still overpriced, The Met serves it for sure.

The setting is great--classic steak house. Valet parking, awning to the street, autographed photos, tile floor, dark wood everywhere. Looks like an old bank. Probably is an old bank. They milk that downtown steak and chop house thing for all its worth--front of the house stuff in tuxes without jackets, including the women. Plenty of lifers on the front of the house staff. They know their menus cold, even answering obscure questions about the beer and wine without giving it a thought. Side dishes are priced separately. Your food comes on heavy oval crockery platters.

We had a couple coupon carriers among us, and not only did they want that bargain, they wanted to keep the coupons as a memento. Not something I would think to do, but The Met staff accommodated them without batting an eye, even photocopying the coupons for them since they couldn't return the originals. I happened to handle the payment that night, and the server thanked me warmly (I tipped on the pre-coupon amount). That simple thank-you struck me as the perfect note; you could tell she was relieved for having that above and beyond the call service recognized, and it seemed appropriate to smile and say thanks for it.

This visit was now 3 or 4 years ago, and since then I have probably loudly proclaimed 3 dozen times that I need to return soon. Eventually it will happen.

Yes, it's in every travel guide.  Yes, it has rave reviews all over, however I feel completely duped.

While celebrating our anniversary, my wife and I ran into the worst attitude in a server...Sure we may have young faces, but we are not children and enjoy classy dining.  The smugness was ridiculous.

I could have overlooked the service should the food have blown us away, but my porterhouse ($$$$) came out completely gnarly.  The chewy texture was just rotten to present.  I even told the server and gave a visual sample of how tough the meat was, but was ignored...no suggestions or comments- just a nod.  And if I want my top shelf $$$ cocktail on the rocks, bring it on the rocks with zero attitude.

Much time has passed since this visit, but the bitterness has lingered.

Haven't read down to the other 1 stars, but the fact they exist further justified this review.

Best. Steak. Ever. Even if it was $50.

This place is so amazing, if it didn't cost so much I've give it 5 stars. The wait staff service was the best I've had in Seattle to date. Get there for happy hour and they have decent priced food and the non-steak food is pretty tasty.

I liked the fact I wasn't dress up all fancy pants, but they treated me  exactly the same as they did the older gentlemen who were there dressed up in their business attire.

Third time I have been here and now there is now no doubt...this is the best steakhouse in America!

Why? Service, service, and only the very best service!  And side dishes!!  And the deserts!! And the drinks!!

One thing that is funny about this place is that it is so casual...in my opinion, to a fault!  Not the staff, but the customers.  But hey, this is Seattle.

And if your lucky, Craig will be running the floor the night you're there and I must say, he is the man that will make you and your party feel like they you the town!

We went here for my boyfriends birthday. The place inside is like an oldies restaurant, and I LOVED IT!

My boyfriend had steak since that is what they are known for, I can't remember now which one he had, but let me tell you it was GOOD. Very good, and cut to perfection with a side of brocoli, the plate was so big, he could barely finish it.

I ordered the Alaskan King Crab which I am happy I did. They were huge and so DELISH! I had a side of potatoes and we were stuffed.

Of course we had to get desert, it was my bf bday. So we ordered the 9 layer chocolate cake with vanilla icecream, all which again DELISH! The cake was huge with this tiny candle on top the service was great, the drink was good.

The prices are high, but it is one of those places you just have to try.

This steakhouse is the epitome of old school steak housing.  I really like the places decor and atmosphere.  The service is absolutely amazing and you can tell all the waiters know exactly what they are talking when it comes to steak.

With that said, i think the steak is really good, but not great.  I had one of their ribeyes, i cannot remember which one.  It was cooked perfectly, but there was just something about the beef that wasn't as flavorful as other beefs i've tried.  The sides were all OK and nothing memorable.

We went here within an hour of arriving in Seattle. We had been up imbibing a bit much the night before, and were all craving bacon and beef. I did a quick Yelp search for "burgers" and this was at the top of the list, and within walking distance of our hotel.

I'm so so so glad too.  Immediately upon entering, you KNOW this place is all about meat. It's a man's restaurant, like something you'd see in a movie set in the late 50s/early 60s, down to the uniforms on the waiters, the plush velvet backs on the high booth seats, the enormous bar, and wood and brass decor. Oh, and the case of raw steaks in the lobby too.

My two companions both ordered burgers from the menu. One got the peppercorn encrusted bleu cheese and bacon burger. The other got the "works" burger -- swiss and cheddar, caramelized onions, and their special sauce. I was craving a straight bacon and cheddar burger, but that wasn't specifically offered on the menu. But the waiter and the chef were happy to oblige me.

The first thing I noticed when my food arrived was the abundance of what appeared to be perfectly crispy french fries, alongside the gorgeous hamburger, and nicely arranged condiments. The fries were so fantastic, I couldn't stop eating them long enough to try the burger. That's a first. There was the slightest, perfect-ist hint of seasoning on them.

With the first bite of the burger, I knew that I was in for one of my all-time top-10 burger experiences. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, on a buttered, grilled bun, and topped with crispy, thick-cut bacon and scrumptious grilled onions (which I didn't order, but was immensely grateful for, as they added a nice sweetness to the salty bacon).

My friend with the bleu cheese burger couldn't finish his. And he certainly gave it the best effort. He claims that the bleu cheese was the richest, most flavorful, and best he'd ever. This is a guy who can polish off a block of cheese easily, so for him to say, "I cannot eat any more of this cheese" tells me that it was sensory overload.

We didn't hear much from my other companion. But that was probably due to the fact that he was busy having a quiet, personal moment with his "works" burger.

The service was superb. We went in on a Wednesday afternoon, around 2 pm, and were seated promptly. The iced tea and water glasses were kept topped off, and our waiter checked in on us regularly, but not obtrusively.

I would expect this place to have amazing steaks, based on the flavor and quality of the hamburger.

We did not try the cheesecake that was suggested by our waiter. Not because we didn't want to, but because we'd have gone into a food coma if we had.

I plan on returning here next time I'm in Seattle.

Upon entrance to the  Metropolitan Grill, it becomes immediately obvious that this place is about one thing and one thing only: steak. A glass cabinet displaying various cuts of raw, aged beef greet you immediately upon entrance. This makes the Met the perfect place to passive aggressively punish the vegetarians in your life, as everything else takes a back burner to the glorification of giant lumps of meat.

As you may have guessed, I'm not much a fan of giant lumps of meat, thus I was less than impressed with the offerings. Not that I'm a vegetarian, but at these price points you'd expect the kitchen to keep the quality up across the board, but the night we went that was not the case. The boy had a two-steak dinner (all the better to compair and contrast), and despite ordering them both medium, one came out medium rare, the other a bit more than medium. My guess is that rather than cook them independently to the appropriate level of doneness, the kitchen just split the difference in cooking times and called it good.

I had a spinach salad (good, but I've had better - a bit heavy on the dressing), followed by the pork chops. Silly me, I thought cute little supermarket sized pork chops, totally do-able. No. These things must have come off of a pig the size of which has not been seen since the New World Pleistocene extinctions. We're talking Flinstones sized meat here. I guess that could be a selling point for some, but have you ever tried cutting up and eating pork chops that size? And yes, I mean plural, because there were two of the damn things.

I should also note that the only side that comes with the meat is potatoes of some sort - baked, mashed, or french fried. I like potatoes and all, but are you serious?

Not that the meal was completely a wash. The mashed potatoes were yummy, the wine list and wine steward are pretty awesome, and dessert rocks. Frankly, dessert was the main reason we were there. The boy and I had our first date over dessert at the Met grill a year ago, so we decided to go back for our first anniversary. If we're going to make it a tradition, I predict that it'll just be dessert from here on.

One of the best steak houses to go for a special occasion or any occasion you want to feel special. Service is top notch and is only topped by their steaks. Had my usual Delmonico cooked perfectly rare along with the tastiest creamed spinach around. My steak was juicy and tender.

Their "Smoky Met" Martini is a favorite of mine: Absolut with a splash of 18 year-old Glenlivet. For dessert, try their Pear Bread Pudding or Burnt Creme.

Dinner is served at a leisurely pace so plan on spending a couple of hours savoring your meal.

I happened to have the pleasure to dine here last week.  This is the second time I have gone here.  The first time blew me away between the food and the service.  This time proved that my previous experience was not a fluke!

We had a party of 17 and they still got us seated quickly.  Drinks and waiter showed up on time with a big smile.  Having already experienced the bliss we immediately ordered a few of the calamare (an absolute must if you go!)  Our waiter's suggestion of the special ribeye 'garnished with a short rib" had me at rib!  The steak was perfectly cooked and the short rib was so big everyone at the table had visions of Flinstones!  Even more important it was tender and full of flavor!

Having previously dined both in Morton's and Ruth's Chris I have set my steak sights only for the Met when in Seattle!

Can't be beat!!! we have done them all... El Gaucho, Ruth, Dan's... etc...

The Met wins - we go with our daughters 8 and 10, they get treated like movie stars... and the price!!! Kids are $10 each... try to get Gaucho, Ruth or Dan's.... don't tell me you can get a better experience... the staff is great, we get great steaks, dessert and drinks.. Brian and Craig are simply the best! This is a place I have business dinners, but I really enjoy the family dinner or with friends! The others spots are measured against The Met - for good reason... Ask how long the staff has worked, no turnover.... end of story!!! Enjoy!

This place was very, very good.  The most important thing to remember before you go is to hit up Costco for their $100 gift certificate for $80, it helps cut into the price of this restaurant.

The steaks were in the Top 5 of steaks that I've ever eaten and the board special "Creamed Corn & Lobster" sounded interesting.  It was more than interesting, it was grilled lobster pieces in a skillet, then the chowder was poured in the skillet and served.  Amazing!  If I were to go back, I'd probably try a dish heavier in seafood after how good the special was.

Service was good, atmosphere felt like a place in the 50's, and most tables felt really private.  You can also wear just about anything you want, very laid back.

The restaurant itself isn't much to brag about. It's clean and homey, but not super fancy or classy. Just a classic steakhouse. I was way overdressed in a red strapless semi-formal gown. Blah.

Our waitress was nice and likable. We split a classic caesar salad. For entrees, I ordered a medium prime filet mingnon and my dad ordered a 12 ox. New York. I finished most ot my filet and he probably only ate 3/4 of it. It was huge! My filet was cooked well and the mashed potatoes were super creamy and filling.

I celebrated my twenty-first birthday last November at the Met's famed (and amazing) happy hour. From that point on, I've made a point to spend at least one happy hour a month here, because it feels like my alcohol-adventuring-home. I have never had dinner, but my lunch and happy hour experiences have been absolutely wonderful.

I don't drink very much, so I rely on server recommendations, and they've never steered me wrong... the White Cosmo and the Pomtini are my running favorites. Sure, the drinks are a bit on the steep side for a college student's budget [and I don't drink beer, which doubles my check compared to my friends] but for delicious food and a unpretentious environment I'm always willing to shell out a bit more to drink at the Met.

The Met was hyped. Expectations were astronomical. More than a handful of people have told me if you wanted a good steak, you weren't going to get better than The Met. Since coming out west, I think I've done the Tour de Steak - Ruth's Chris, El Gaucho, Daniel's), and good things can be said about all of them. And then there's The Metropolitan Grill.

The evening actually got off to a rough start. Reservations for 9pm, and we were at the bar (and unseated) until roughly 9:40. I suppose later reservations are subject to the willingness of others to finish their meal and leave in a timely fashion, and ultimately I would hate to be rushed out of my own meal. However, it was still a tad annoying especially given the fact that I was so psyched to sit down and eat! I immediately took off one star in my head. ;)

Once seated, and voicing our minor annoyance with the wait, the manager came over and offered a complimentary appetizer, which was nice of them. The best cup of lobster bisque ever - it had to be the heavy cream and cognac - incredibly cheese french onion soup and raw oysters perfection. They even had an alternative to the classic cocktail sauce - a sorbet-style champagne and basil topping - it was unique and delicious. So alright, they were no longer down a star.

I had my first opportunity to try Waygu beef, in the form of American Kobe. (They also offered true Japanese Kobe but at $110-120 I decided to take baby steps!) I'm sure this is no secret to those familar with the meat, but it is simply a different style of beef. And by different, I mean vastly superior. It makes my bone-in ribeye at Daniel's from last week seem like a 4th of July grill burger. Of course this isn't fair to lesser steaks, as they still are quality meals in their own right. This Kobe however, just was perfection on a plate. Consider your regular "marbled" steak, with generous chunks of fat peppered throughout the cut. This was like there was a tailor, weaving and stitching light strings of fat throughout the meat, making sure every single bite was heaven on your palette. It was perfectly balanced and I was upset with myself for filling up on appys. I really, really wanted to finish this steak. However, a better plate of leftovers will never be had again. My girlfriend had her staple, the lobster tail, and while it was indeed delicious, she said it wasn't quite up to others she had had at Daniel's. Perhaps there's a reason that The Met is known for its steak and not its seafood.

Being that she was taking me out for my birthday dinner, the restaurant went above and beyond, offering us a complimentary dessert as well. Stuffed to the gills, but craving something cool and sweet to settle my stomach, we went with the Cherries Jubilee, prepared tableside with Courvoisier and Chambord. Bonnie said it perfectly: it was like Christmas on a plate. The most rich and spiced aroma you've ever smelled, and it was positively delicious with the Bing cherries poured over Mediterranean vanilla ice cream.

Service was impeccable. Janey was attentive and genuine, and even though we were eating well past the 11pm close time, she was engaging in conversation and someone who we will definitely request the next time we go back. And yes, there will be a next time, and preferably soon. The Met lived up to the hype. Now where are my leftovers?

Hands down the Metropolitan Grill is the best steakhouse in Washington state. I've been to all the steakhouses (Mortons, Jaks, Ruth & Chris, El Gaucho, , etc) and none of them can beat the Metropolitan Grill. I always order the porterhouse (the biggest steak) and one can't describe the flavors of the steak...simply put...it's delicious. You are gonna spend some serious dough coming here, but definitely worth it.

I really wanted to like it given all the great reviews.  And yes, I do like steaks.  However, our food was waaaaaaaay too salty.  Everything was over-seasoned.  We had the veal sweet bread to start, skirt steak with fries and a prime rib with creamed spinach.  The sweet bread needed more sauce.  We ate about half our meal and then the saltiness just way too overwhelming and we couldn't eat another bite.  Have DEFINITELY experienced better.

Service was only ok -- our bread came at the same time as the appetizer.  Our water was filled a few times, but not quite as promptly as I was led to believe would happen by the great service reviews.

The first time I went to the Met my waiter was like 100 years old, never missed a beat, remembering every detail of what each person wanted without writing it down. I was already impressed.

Looking around at the ambiance, the restaurant is a little warmer and a little less black leather than most "Steak houses". The food was the best. Steak and Lobster to die for.

This is one of the top spots to have steak, anywhere. "The Met" is "The Real Deal!"

Bring a fat wallet, though.

Wow. I was in Seattle for business, and heard people rave about this place. It was great! Friendly wait staff and excellent steak!

I ordered the lobster bisque, which had a light cognac flavor but was excellent! I then got the combo wagu filets - 4 oz american and 4oz japanese for a comparison. Wow. Both were excellent, and so different. The japanese wagu was much fattier and smoother while the american filet texture was a bit firmer but still great and flavorful.

I would definitely recommend this place, but be ready to spend. My check (including a beer) was $90 + tip.

WOW! I can't describe how much I enjoyed this place. I was in town for a week and went on a recommendation from a friend. This place is great. It's casual yet elegant and the service and food are AWESOME!

Three of us shared a porterhouse with some creamed spinach. I got the french fries as a side and I can't believe how good it was. I couldn't stop saying "Wow, these fries are amazing!" all night long.

I highly highly recommend this place.

Bump it up to a 4.5! I'm not a "steak lover", so I don't know if this is the bomb-diggity (that's right, I said bomb-diggity), but it was quite tasty!

The short of it:
- Went for my hubby's birthday
- Had great service on all parts
- The prawn martini was not messing around - BIGGEST prawns I had ever seen I was almost scared
- Got a salad which was good, but next time I'm getting the french onion
- Prime rib = juicy and perfectly cooked
- Oscar special = hubby closing eyes in crab meat and fillet heaven
- Gave complimentary burnt cream for birthday!
- $8 valet added to check for convenience

So, I definitely want to go back when I am ready for the challenge (was a little under the weather), but only for special occasions and/or when there are deals going on. We were able to enjoy our meal on the cheap because my parent's participated on the "Have Dinner on Us" promotion. If you hear about it next year, DO IT! Two trips to the Met for the price of one? Reservation for two please!

Good steaks - more for a business dinner or special occasion versus a fun night out.  Decor is very traditional steakhouse-ish

the 13oz filet at $56 is very filling, and super tender.  Flavor wise I prefer the bone in filets, but this is still very good

the delmonico was also very good - the 21oz wasn't quite as large as I had imagined it would be, and I was able to finish that off fairly easily.

didn't get a chance to try the wagyu platter - you could say that i'm on a wagyu phase since first trying out the 'kobe' a few years back

wagyu platters at CUT and 5A5 are both good

food 3.75-4 stars
service 4.25
ambience 3.75
presentation 3.75-4

Ate here again for a birthday celebration for my future bother in law.

Artichoke Bites
Wedge Salad
Chateau Briand

This place never disappoints me. I've been her about 10 times now and every time I can't bless this place with enough superlatives. My finacee had a steak salad, have you seen this thing? When you order it, you think 27.00 for a salad? This had better be the king mo'focker of all salads.

When it arrives you immediately understand why it cost what it does. Its a huge, beautiful, wonderful, masterpiece of a salad with about 8oz of beautifully medium-rare filet draped over fresh veggies and blue cheese. The warmth for the meat melts the blue crumbles just enough to make them warm in your mouth and the salad leaves are fresh and crisp enough to stand up well to the warmth of the steak.

My finacees father had a plain New York which he enjoyed, and they catered to his requests to have his steak with no sauces and a salad with low cholesterol dressing, no crutons, and extra veggies.

Since it was my future brother in law's 18th we wanted to do the chateau to treat him to the table side preparation, which is always a unique touch. The manager or wine manager usually is your ring master for this culinary circus which takes place at your table. They are always engaging  and courteous, and went out of there way to make sure 18 year old Mikey felt special.

For his birthday at the end of his meal they brought us a huge plate of creme burle, four spoons, no charge, without even asking. A single candle was placed in the center of the dish, perfectly punctuating another stellar met dining experience.

Yelp needs a sixth star for when you'd forgo copious felatio (or cunnilingus) in exchange for a meal.

My only gripe, I have to work out approximately 4 times as hard after gorging myself here. Damn you Metropolitan Grille, Damn you.

EAT HERE!!!!

Nothing else really needs to be said. The flagship of Consolidated Restaurants Inc. has long been the place for all the movers and shakers of Seattle to come and toast their splendor (not to mention their expense accounts!!!)

Unless your last name happens to be Gates, eating here for anything other than a special occasion just doesn't make financial sense. That said, the food and especially the service are worth every penny. Let me say that again, EVERY PENNY...

The steaks are exactly what you would expect for the price, except they are better than every other place around (Morton's, Ruth's Chris, etc.) It boils down to this, would you rather have one GREAT steak or three average steaks for the money? For this reviewer, it's the former. It's true Kobe beef for me, every time I go, NO EXCEPTIONS!! It's becoming very rare in Seattle to find true Kobe, not the American hybrid, and "The Met" always comes through.

However, if $180 steak is out of your budget, fear not, many great cuts of Prime grade beef can be had here. Let me take a minute to tell you about Prime beef. Less than 2% of the 125 million cows slaughtered in the US every year are good enough to be graded at the Prime level. It's very rare, and is expensive like all good things are. On the other hand, it's flavor profile is unlike anything you will taste, and once you have it, you will understand why the price is what it is. The 16oz New York Strip or 13oz Filet Mignon are the way to go, and both will cost you less than $60. Be sure to have the mashed potatoes with your steak, as they are sinfully good!!

In addition to the great steak offerings, the alcohol selection here is very impressive with a focus towards vodka and scotch. "The Met" is one of only a handful of places in Seattle that carry Macallan 55 year scotch. Save up though, it's a $1,200 shot, but again, it's worth the money if you can afford it. For you serious cognac fans out there be sure to check out the L'Esprit de Courvoisier. It's another rare find, and is expensive but if you know what it is, you already know what you're looking for.

If $1,200 drinks are a little out of your budget (in this economy, can't say I blame you) check out their impressive selection of expertly combined martini's. They should run you $12-$15, but they are using quality alcohol, and are stiff pours, so buck up!!

If the vino is where your true love resides, then take a moment to look over the impressive wine list. Although a heavily focused towards West Coast Reds, all the usual suspects are there too, but take a closer look for the hidden gems in the list....

"The Met" is everything you want in a great steakhouse. If you are going to call Seattle home, a trip to one of it's best restaurants is a must...

One last thing, if you find yourself in the area between 3:00-6:00pm, check out their happy hour! It's one of the better ones around, but know going in they have a drink minimum for food, but it is well worth it. Prime Rib Sliders and Bacon Wrapped Tenderloin Bites are outstanding!!

Holy steak in my mouth!  Good grief, is this place good!

They serve quite possibly the best calamari I've ever had - perfectly fried, with a light, crispy batter, and served with a drizzle of saffron aioli.  I also ordered the wagyu filet mignon and I don't think I've had a more delicious steak.  Ever.  (I feel guilty for saying that since, before coming here, I strongly felt my dad made the best steaks in the world - on the other hand, we don't usually buy wagyu beef, so that can't be helped).  The wagyu itself had a great mouth feel - very tender, absolutely melts in your mouth.  The taste was phenomenal.  Cuts of filet mignon, in general, are known for being tender, but usually have less flavor than, say, a rib-eye (for the record, I tried a bite of the bone-in rib-eye, which was literally bursting with beefy flavor).  But this wagyu filet packs a definitive beefy punch.

Now, the only reason I deducted one star was due to the dessert we ordered.  We got the bananas foster for which I always have high expectations.  My favorite is from Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, whose family invented the bananas foster.  I felt that if Met Grill makes their steaks so delicious, you can't go wrong with their bananas foster.  Think again.  It's not truly a bananas foster if it's topped with bottled, mass-produced caramel sauce!

But other than that, it was superb.  Take the time and money to try this fantastic restaurant.  You won't regret it.

Oh, and I think it goes without saying that if you usually feel the need to order your steak anything more than "medium," don't bother eating here.  I mean, I'm sure it'll still be great, but why bother wasting a perfectly good cut of steak if you're going to burn it to an unnecessary crisp?

Stopped by here on the one night we had in Seattle on the way to Vancouver Island because I wanted a steak and a nice place to take the new wife to. Fortunately, this place was great. The decor was nice and clean, warm and welcoming. Our server was very nice if a little overly attentive.

We both got to try oysters for the first time. I had the oyster and beer pairing while she go the beer sampler. Good, tasty variety on tap, though the oysters all kind of tasted the same to me but what do I know. I had the Filet Oscar and it was perfect.

Highly recommended for a special night or a great steak.

We went there with a big party (30+) so we had a limited menu but you go to a steakhouse for the steaks and this place gets a huge smiley face and a star for their steaks. This is without question one of the best steaks I've ever had. Perfect cut of meat, perfectly seasoned and perfectly prepared.

Everyone at the table said the same thing and the other dishes (salmon and chicken) were great also.

Caesar salad was lacking and the appetizers were more miss than hit. I love appetizers at an upscale steakhouse so that was a bummer.

The scene is power steakhouse like all the rest of them.

Service was fast, nice and attentive.

Go here for a truly great steak. I give it a smiley face and a star.
