I remember the days before lowes and home depot when my dad would take me as a little girl to the local hardware store where he'd buy nails and screws that were like the bulk isle at a grocery store. It was nice and more personal, people were friendlier and happier. This is exactly what Metro Hardware has reminded me of from the first time a visited them.
I'm an avid home-improver or handy-woman some might say. I have spent thousands of dollars at lowes and home depot in the last few years and I always get really mad when I have to make a trip to either of these stores to give them more money. I love this store, especially because if I know I need something they'll have it. They absolutely don't have everything I always need, like drywall or lumber, but they have pretty much everything else. The people that work there are super friendly and always remember me when I come in. Its nice to have the neighborhoody feel where people actually remember you and get to know you. Its so nice when I'm working on my house and in the middle of a project that I know I don't have to go all the way to annoying home depot or lowes...I can drive two miles, or even bike to this hardware store and have an enjoyable experience.
Awesome place. Been here a few times, and they've got all the essentials packed into the store. The fellow behind the counter saved me from buying the wrong size wall anchors to go with the screws I was also buying. (There's a joke in there somewhere...)
Great local HW store - this place has bailed us out when we've worked projects and needed immediate assistance. The selection isnt as deep as a big box store, but you definitely get a comfortable, neighborly type feel from the place. When i've purchased material in the past and have either sized things incorrectly (hardware, bulbs, etc), they've always made exchanges, no questions asked. Real chill, great add to the 'hood.
Hey! Look! Its a hardware store in No Libs/Fishtown! ALLRIGHT!!!
Super sweet, and super accurate. The kind of place you go in just to have your keys cut real quick and end up hanging out for a few minutes chatting because the people are awesome and friendly. Its a neighborhood place. Go support your neighbors. yo.
The only hardware store I know of in Norlibs. They have all kinds of things, if they don't have what you want, they will order it for you. I don't think too many people know it's there, since it's on Front, off the beaten path of stores.
