This is a review of the Metro Halal Food Cart accross the Courthouse Metro. Me and my co-workers love this place.

You can get a gyro for $5, or Gyro over rice for $6. The basmati rice is heaven, and I really like the tzatziki with the spicy sauce. I usually eat the beef and lamb combination and is really good.

CASH ONLY

Interesting little food cart across Ballston Mall in Arlington,VA.  Have been going there since it opened. The food menu is quite basic. You have your chicken or lamb kabobs. Gyros and mix dishes.

I usually get the chicken+lamb combo $5.99. The quality of the chicken and lamb is good. If you like spicy, ask them to add the sauce to give it a little kick..  For my pakistani cravings, this done the trick especially when short of time.  Portion size is good, taste is good. Nice that they use basmati rice versus normal rice.

I couldn't find this Metro Halal Food Cart on Yelp but I did find other locations on Google.  This is right next to District Taco and in front of the ABC WJLA-TV building in Rosslyn.  They have lamb gyros, chicken on pita, combo pita, lamb over rice, chicken over rice and combo over rice.  The sandwiches are 4.99 and the rice dishes are 5.99.  I ordered the combo sandwich with a side order of rice. He put a heaping portion of rice and meat on my order and put yogurt and hot sauce on top to give it moisture and more flavor.  Plenty of lettuce, onions and tomato in the sandwich.  It's a huge portion for 6.99 (b/c I got the sandwich and rice).  I'm definitely coming back for lunch.  Cash only.

The food just wasn't greasy enough.  Or maybe it was the fact that I was sober.  Either way, it just wasn't very tasty.  The tzatziki sauce was a little bland, chicken and lamb a little dry, and the hot sauce tasted like the packet hot sauces you get when you order take-out Chinese.  Big sigh because I love good cart food especially halal chicken and rice.  If anyone who reads this ever goes to NY I highly recommend a stop here http://www.yelp.com/bi...

I passed by the Metro Halal food cart a few times and always saw a line, so I figured I would give it a shot.  For lunch I had the lamb gyro.  The meat, pita, vegetables, and white sauce worked well together...very flavorful.  I definitely plan on going back there, but next time I'll get the lamb or chicken with rice instead of the gyro.  Don't get me wrong, I love meat in a pita with sauce, but it was a little messy.  The gyro was very reasonably priced, $5 with tax.  CASH ONLY.
