They seemed knowledgeable and a decent price.  I feel bad that armed with knowledge I requested that they simply clip the knot out of my chain instead of replacing the whole chain altogether - but hey, knowledge is power.  They actually didn't charge me anything for it.  I just tipped the guy a few bucks.  AND, I wrote them this AWESOME review!!!

I had nothing but good en quick service here. Bought a bike there this summer and have been back a few times for adjustments. Quick service by friendly guys. A repair was fairly estimated and turned out to be cheaper than expected. That is always a good sign.
I cannot understand the huge gap between my experience and that of some other reviewers. Seems almost another shop.

I gotta write a review here because I don't know where all these other folks are coming from.  Every time I hit this store I get good quick service.  Wham bam, my breaks are fixed, my tube replaced, and I'm out the door. It's never a problem.

A few months back I had kinda lost my mind from too little sleep, too much work, and I thought my bike had been stolen.  Actually, the sucker was just locked to a different parking sign than usual.  But not remembering this, I went down and spent an hour annoying the sales guy to pick out my new bike.  Then once I got home, clueless and brainless me remembered where my "stolen" bike was! Back to the store no problemo.  They refunded everything on my credit card, including the new locks which I had bought and which had, of course, been taking out of their packing.

These are very cool guys.  My only criticism is their selection of new bikes is a bit small, but, hey, it's a small store.  Aside from that, this is the place to go.

    Three strikes, you're out.

Strike One:  I drop my bike off for a tune up.  When I pick it up, the bolts that hold the fender in place are missing, creating an annoying and potentially dangerous situation.  I go back--you claim that the bolts were missing when I dropped off the bike, which I know not to be the case.

Strike two:  I go in to buy a light for my bike.  Right after you swipe my credit card I think to ask what kind of batteries the light uses.  You tell me that it's a hard-to-find but long-lasting lithium cell.  I tell you that I'd prefer a cheaper light that runs on (rechargeable) AAs.   You claim that you can't void the sale.  Instead, you suggest that I find some other merchandise to make up the $20 difference between the costs of the two lights.    It takes 15 minutes to convince you to call your boss; you finally make the call, and he tells you a couple of simple steps to cancel my charge.  You're angry and insulting.

Strike three:  I come by right at opening time (9:30).  Nobody's there.  I wait a few minutes; someone shows up at 9:35 or so. I ask if I can drop of my bike for repairs.  You say "gimmie 5 minutes".  I say that I'm already late for work, and would it be possible to just drop it off quickly.  You say, "gimmie five" and slam the door in my face.  I get on my bike and ride off.  Never to return.  This place sucks.

Your average bicycle shop -- average selection, average staff, average average.  If I had a problem while I was riding by, I wouldn't hesitate to stop in, but it wouldn't be my shop of choice.

Average is the only word I can think of to describe this shop.

as someone else said, totally average...but not in a bad way...dropped my bike off for a tune-up on a sunday, got it back tuesday afternoon as promised...$130 total for my work: i got the fancy tune-up which involved taking off the cranks/cassette, new chain, truing wheels, new rear brakes, and new cable or two (a regular tune-up costs $68+).

i can't speak to the quality of products they sell or the bike selection as that's not what i was in for...but i wouldn't hesitate to pop back in to buy a new tube or two (mainly because this place is just down the street from me).

the staff i dealt with was friendly + helpful.

they're part of the metro bicycle stores chain.

UPDATE: i came in on a wednesday evening around 5.30p and these guys were able to get two new tires and tubes on my bike in record time (and the tires were not a normal size). that's good service!

These guys aren't all bad, but a few of them certainly seem ill-skilled, overworked and underpaid.  One guy is always on the ball.  The repair department is average, busy and pricey.  Their stock doesn't seem to cater to the east village bike style.. a cheap fixed gear with a basket and flashlight...  I've also gone in for several items that were either out of stock or they just didn't carry... oh well.

I dropped by bike off for a tune-up and new tires on thursday. On Monday afternoon when I came to pick up the bike, nothing had been done. They gave some lame explanation that they didn't have some info because the sales guy didn't write down the order correctly. But they had my phone number and didn't bother to call. Stay away. While they were very nice, they are incompetent and wasted my time. While I was waiting for them to find my untouched bike, there was another guy there who was complaining about a bad tune-up job...
