I had to have a PETScan at Methodist Charlton Hospital and can not relate how well I was treated by the Staff. From the time my Husband abd I walked thru the doors to the time we left Everyone was so Helpful, Caring and Compassionate! Put me, us, at ease and made sure we were both comfortable and cared for. Just want to Thank all that were involved in the process. Patient of Dr. Mullers who is a Wonderful Dr.

I had to switch my PCP in 2018 due to our lousy Governor / Texas only having HMO's. This created a lot of stress.
I foolishly looked at the long list of doctors, at their publications and specialties, and selected someone I thought would be a great fit.
Then I found out that I could not see that doctor because he is an Attending, and I had to spin the Wheel of Residents, with no information about any of them, and take my chances. More stress.
I was fortunate to select Dr. Tonya S Patton. She is already a DO, a naturopath, and now in her residency becoming an MD.
She is very knowledgeable about solutions to problems which don't involve rx drugs. I'd had a long, long battle with allergies which began in recent years. She suggested something OTC which I felt skeptical to try, but I wanted to be a good patient. It worked, and I was able to stop using half a dozen other products. She listens, and is patient. If you prefer using herbs or OTC products, she may be a great doctor for you.
Seeing a resident in a teaching program does have downsides...her schedule can be changed any time. She consults with whoever the Attending on duty is, and it won't be the same person each time. She may not be allowed to handle certain aspects of your care, the Attending won't bother, and they may want you to go see a specialist - adding cost and time to your burden as a patient. If you have to see someone else, you have to explain your entire life history over and over, and there is the sense that the Attendings never really know who you are. I don't believe doctors are truly interchangeable parts in the machine of health care.
The upside is that someone can always see you, 24 hours a day, any day of the year, and there is generally someone in the building a resident can consult with on just about any topic that comes up.
I had very, very, very short wait times for my appointments.
However, they could not schedule appointment very far into the future, saying "we don't know her schedule yet" if it was more than 3-4 weeks in the future...sometimes more than 2 weeks in the future. The burden was then on me to remember to call in and make the appointment. (I was used to making one as I left my old doctor's office, even 6 months in advance)
They do print summaries of each visit for you.
Staff was very friendly and polite, very respectful.
It's a big building, but parking always easy once I figured it out; walking was not an issue for me.
I do wish someone would deadhead the irises in their garden. but that does not have any bearing on my rating. I promise!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Imelda F.Duncanville, TX1813May 13, 2015
Please DO NOT! Go to this hospital, they will kill you just like they did my 25 year old daughter. They are horrendous, they knew from.the first lab results that my daughter was terribly ill, they kept us waiting in the ER, I begged them.to take her in right away as my daughter had never been to the ER before, she had no sicknesses, none, she was very sick and I was told she has to wait her turn, my baby was basically collapsing on the wheel chair, she had no energy, by the time they took her to a room, we still had to wait for an ICU room to become available, it took Charlton Methodist more than 15 hours to transfer her, she needed immediate attention. My baby died 4 days later. As one of the doctors said to another doctor "we let her cook overnight in the er".
Please never go to this hospital they have below average rates on just about everything.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Charlotte W.DeSoto, TX4310334May 8, 2013

The labor and delivery department is wonderful, but DO NOT go to the ER here! The DR doesn't even come in to see you, and they just give you some pain pills and tell you to leave. that is not what I needed, had to go to another ER to get the right diagnosis. Pathetic.

Pathetic! My first visit there and my last. I don't care how far I have to drive, will never return to this place.
I was the third person in the ER waiting room. I had a broken foot and broken arm. We had families coming in with lunch, one gave their kid a birthday party while waiting, several came in carrying blankets because they were just there to sleep.
After three hours I left. You can have a broken bone, but the person with a cold gets to go back first.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jose S.Dallas, TX05Sep 7, 2017
This Hospital have the most incredible and friendly staff. My son and daughter were born there and the made my wife feel like she was at a 5 Star hotel. But I took my mother to the ER and she was very sick, they didn't wait and took her in. She made an incredible recovery.5 star for me!!!

I really, really like this hospital. Why? Because I've been a patient with and without insurance and I've been treated wonderfully. Even better, when I did not have insurance, I was a patient at the their Family Clinic and was able to see a doctor on a regular basis on a discounted rate that had me paying a small co-pay like I had insurance. This discount counted towards lab work and etc throughout the whole facility and I was able to get real preventative healthcare checkups that would have had to be missed. After experiencing the wonderful, warm staff here, I plan to keep this hospital and clinic as my go-to place. When people treat you like gold even when you are down, you know you've found a fabulous place. Oh, and another awesome addition is that parking is free.

Charlton is really trying to improve its reputation and it's working. They've been plagued with problems in the past: insufficient care, bad management, and inadequate staff. Although word of mouth has still not been good for them, hopefully it will change. They've made strides in expanding the hospital, better trained staff, and attentive doctors. Although, don't get me wrong the emergency rooms are still packed, patients wait hours for bed most times. The southern sector needs at least two more hospitals to cover all the suburbs to accommodate everyone.

Had my first mammogram at the Women's Imaging Center. The entire staff was upbeat and friendly. Even though the waiting room was almost full, there wasn't a long wait at all, maybe 15 minutes worth. My technician, Sally, was incredibly reassuring and moved quickly. She made me feel very comfortable with the whole process. Would definitely recommend it for anyone who is going for the first or fiftieth time.
