I've been coming here since this place first opened, and the staff has always been very knowledgable and friendly. Initially I came to finish up some parts on an AR build I was doing- just needed a few cheap parts here and there. What surprised me was that the staff always treated me like I was spending a thousand bucks...when in reality I was only buying $50 worth of parts. If I can get that level of customer service even though I only come in and buy small items, naturally when the time came to purchase another firearm I knew exactly where to go. The prices are usually pretty good. I've found that while some of their pricing is in line with most online retailers, buying from brick and mortar shops here in California is what supports them and keeps our rights alive, so I don't mind paying a few bucks over what an online retailer charges if they can't beat the pricing.
I'll be returning once I get my next paycheck now that I heard they do single shot exceptions on more than just 1911's ;) -

Stopped by MDT today because they're running a promotion where they pay your DROS. Ended up purchasing a 6-shot Mossberg 500 cruiser for $377.xx out the door. Price wasn't the best, but it also wasn't the worst--totally fair all things considered and I'm happy to say my money went to supporting a local firearms business.
Here are some random thoughts (that were relevant to me):
- They can't do SSE (single shot exemption: google it) for anything but 1911's... yet. The employee I spoke with said they'll be able to do these some time in the near future.
- They carry a decent selection of AR15 parts & accessories--including stripped lowers & complete uppers. Prices on these things are average.
- The DROS process is pretty quick. They make use of a laptop and web-based form to fill out the otherwise tedious DROS form. Surprised none of the other dealers in the area have started doing this as it really speeds things up.
- Customer service was alright. Nothing exceptional worth raving about, but certainly nothing worth complaining about either. The employee I spoke with knew what he was talking about, was very lower pressure/easy-going, but he didn't seem all that excited. Could've just been an off-day. *shrug*
- The shop is spacious, well-lit, and organized.
- They do gunsmithing--but I don't know what their quality of work or prices are like.
All-in-all... Not bad. Free DROS on a new shotgun was pretty cool. I personally wish their prices on AR parts & accessories were at-par with web retailers (particularly those that also advertise on Calguns like MDT does). I understand that margins are thin, small businesses are expensive to operate in this stupid state, and people need to eat/get paid, but a dollar is a dollar. -

I have been here since the first day they opened. The staff were friendly when the store first opened. When ask for info and suggestion on products they were helpful.
Recently I have been back to pick up some items, the attitude has changed. They trea t you like a they know everything and if you want help, you need to spent $$ there before they talk. MDT has great customer service! I first came into the shop to buy a Christmas present for a friend, and the staff helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Not only did they have it in stock, but it was cheaper than buying it online! I don't know a lot about guns, so I really liked how everyone there was knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I also liked how clean and organized everything was. I came back to the shop again with my boyfriend to look around, and ended up buying him a new gun. The process was quick and easy! I'll definitely be coming back here again. :)

Clean, organized and friendly peeps there. Nice display and tons of toys. Man, there goes my credit card. They have nice accessories and gear. Check them out for sure.

I can't say enough good things about Metal Dog Tactical. I took my cousin to the shop to pick a side arm. He saw a pistol that he wanted. MDT was selling it for $100 less than what TM was offering it for. SOLD! To make a long story short we both ended up purchasing a pistol.
We picked up our pistols today and are very satisfied with how smooth the process was.
MDT doesn't carry just firearms and accessories. They carry the BEST firearms and accessories. You can find DD, Adams Arms, Troy, Sig and many of the high quality manufacturers at the shop.
As always, Tunis and his staff provides excellent customer service. The shop is clean, organized and well lit. I'll be coming back here for future firearm purchases.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Metal Dog is truly an awesome one stop for ar15 accessories, gear and CA complaint products. I was surprised that the shop is highly organize with nice displays and fixtures which is rare to see from a gun shop. Tunis is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable on educating and demonstrating ar15 products. Me and my friends find ourselves finding different reasons just to stop by.
Cant wait till their licensing clears so I swing by and spend away on a few lowers. -

The bf and I came here the other day at the opening of their brick-and-mortar store. He's heard good things about their online business from his Calgun friends so he wanted to check out the store for himself.
It's a smallish store on the side of a strip mall, but well-lighted and with super friendly employees. I met Kat and Carminia who were at the cash register, and they were both very friendly compared to some of the other gun stores I've been at, where the employees have been a bit surly. Maybe the other stores feel like they have to be non-friendly since they work with guns and all? But it's a breath of fresh air here with the friendly ladies. It's nice to have females working gun stores too, it's female-friendly if you will, and less intimidating if I were to go back here on my own.
And I probably will, when I need to shop for the bf's birthday. He just got a CAR-15 for xmas, and ladies know what I'm talking about when it comes to accessorizing! This store has just about every accessories ever made under the sun, from different types of foregrips, to rear grips, to Picatini rail systems (that's what the bf calls them) where you can attach scopes and laser sights (yeah!) to bipods and slings. You can get bandoliers too, for all the extra magazines you can buy here. There are even how-to videos on different shooting skills. Hmmm...valentine's day is coming up!
Between a vast inventory, and great (and female-friendly) employees, this is going to be a great success. -

First time i can here because my best friend's uncle recommended me "Hi Ralph". I noticed it was very well managed and very cleaned place. Until i met "Tunis"...He is a awesome brotha. He was very polite, well knowledged of firearms and he was happy to teach me how to build my AR. "Thanks Tunis for helping me build a nice looking AR" The owner, the staffs are very nice people and even cared to share their lunch with me. I will be recommending this place to all my friends and i will be visiting here very often. To everyone who never visited here, i recommend come in for a visit because they have so many nice things....They have alot of AR parts, and tunis and ralph can help you build any gun of your dreams.

who needs Disneyland when you have MDT?!? This place is amazing ! i used to be a true online shopper until Tunis opened up shop, there are just some things (and people) you can't replace with good ol fashioned face to face interaction. Tunis has helped me with my first build, i met Tunis at a gun show right when their shop opened and he helped my put my AR together, its still not done yet but ive compiled my build list based on the knowledge and experience Tunis has given me, i've built my first with Tunis and i will build the next few with him and MDT as well. i've also been advised that Tunis has just got his FFL license so not only will the AR's be coming through him, but the rest of my armory as well :) OH! and the FFL fee was quoted to be way cheaper than any of my previous fees as well, i'm not sure where there would be reason for anyone to go anywhere else besides the fact that there are no lanes here, haha!

MDT is a good shop for your AR needs. So far I've shopped here twice already and Tunis who I assume is the owner is a really nice guy. I'm currently building my first AR and this place has been helpful and informative. They also said they will start getting AK products in the shop soon too. The price is just as good as online prices. MDT is overall worth checking out if you're building an AR.

I have to say time and time again Metal Dog Tactical comes through with the best customer service of any tactical supply website I have used. The owner Tunis will always go out of his way to make you happy and come through. There have been multiple times I have needed something in a pinch and he has come through. I highly recommend checking him out at a local gun show. He is a great dude and it's nice to meet people you buy from face to face. He always has the best prices and stands behind his products. I really hope Metal Dog Tactical gets a store in the bay area someday. I wouldn't purchase from anyone else.

Great Staff, Very Competitive Pricing, overall a great store. They currently don't have a store front; most of their business is done online via their web store. However you can probably catch them at the local gun shows, which is what I did. I can honestly say it was a great experience to meet them and they were very courteous and helpful. They carry a lot of various parts, and keep a real time inventory. ( who hates paying for stuff just to find it, it was back ordered ) They also offer free shipping & paid tax on any California complaint products. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for any firearm related supplies for their AR styled rifles.
