9 reviews for Met Foodmarket
this place is super convenient and has better prices than key food.
their produce is usually alright, their deli is small but adequate, they take a credit card for anything over $10.
the space is cramped and it can be difficult to get around when it's busy... but i guess that's par for the course.
also, i consistently get spoken to in polish, but that's neither here nor there.
Better than average organic selection. The produce will do in a pinch.
-closes too early
-doesn't have any green leafy vegetables, ever.
-cashiers are...curt at best.
+lots of craft beers
+at least they stock some vegetarian proteins, and occasionally vegan ice cream
Kind of depressing and dim. Small, cramped aisles and not a great selection.
Okay, I've been spoiled when it comes to grocery stores. As a transplant from Rochester, NY, I was used to shopping at the Wegman's flagship store that's a combination of a neighborhood supermarket, Whole Foods, and classic supermarket all rolled into one. Grocery shopping there was practically a spiritual experience.
Thus, my first trip to Met was a bit of a disappointment. Over the past few visits though, it has started to grow on me. While the selection isn't outstanding, as previous reviewers have said, it's good for the basics. The meat tends to have a little more fat than you'd want, but is still workable. If you need really good produce, you're better off hopping on the L to Union Square Greenmarket or Whole Foods. But, the cashiers are friendly and don't give me any trouble when I use my cloth Wegman's bags to carry my groceries home...
Thank god for this supermarket. This is a one-stop shop for all your grocery needs in Greenpoint. This place always has great pricing on all the staples. They have a good selection of meat and dairy products and lots of bread choices. They have a gourmet deli which has a great selection of cold cuts and cheese. There is always a good variety of fresh fruit and vegetables and they are always bringing in new products. Surprisingly, they have a good range of organic and green products : ) There is also a HUGE beer section with every kind of beer you could think of, a much wider selection than the local bottle shop. The staff is always courteous and friendly. The cashiers work fast to get you out quickly.
If you love Polish food, this is the place to go. They have many Polish products that can only be found here. ( there is nada on Graham ave, not even C Town by the train station!) Fresh bread, vegetables and organic chicken are waiting for you on the shelf. Their Deli is small but good enough for people who just want a few cold cuts. Decent beer selections, and they have starbucks / Godiva ice cream!
however, the fruit there is okay, pears and bananas are nice, but the rest just average.
The cashiers are a bit poker faced sometimes, but oh well, we are not going there for a date eh?
"My" grocery store. Located on the site of Greenpoint's old Winthrop Theater, this grocery is good for basics: staples and canned goods. If you want breads, meats, fruits and vegetables, and cheeses, it might be better to avail yourself of Greenpoint and Williamsburg's other, plentiful, more specialized shops -- European style. Since the grocery added a corner deli, it's somewhat better, but unless you're seeking everyday items, time-consuming credit card handling, an ATM, or a can and bottle return (get back your deposits!), this Met has little to speak for it. Oh, the coin-op machines in the entry are worth 50 cents or so for half a hoot in bubblegum fun.
better than busy bee. bigger selection of : canned foods, cereal, frozen food, etc. not too expensive, a good place to get more than the basics if you're in the mood. also they have a decent selection of things that i suspect are greenpoint specific, like fresh perogies (i'm sorry i spelled that wrong...i'm scottish) it's nice to have a 'real' grocery store in the neighborhood though!
