We stayed at the Pacific Monarch which is directly across from Me's BBQ and could not have been more happy!

A whole in the wall indeed. We practically had breakfast here every morning. It's a penny saver and when you're vacationing in Hawaii, you'll take all that you can get. But if you think you're sacrificing a great meal just to save money-- think again. The food is awesome and the portions are massive!

Korean Take out with a Hawaiian twist to it. This place is awesome! The food was so good, especially the Fried Man Doo, which is sort of like fried dumplings. I ate here 2 days in a row and i just want more of it. I guess you can call this place a hole in the wall.. because its in the cuts and mostly locals come to eat here from what i seen while i was their.

What's so great about this place you ask. You get to choose 4 sides with your order.. from mac salad to chap jae. They also have Kimchee, the korean bean sprouts. and a lot of other sides. The portions are huge and i can guarantee you that you can't finish more then 3/4 of the plate even though the food is so good.

When i come back to Hawaii, this will be the first place to eat at. When you go, you must try Na's Special or the Sunny Special. If you're lucky enough to wake up for breakfast... try their breakfast specials, which only cost $4.50... great way to start the morning before you head to the beach, without putting a dent into your wallet.

I've never been to a take-out Korean restaurant. In fact, I've probably only been to a Korean restaurant twice in my short life time.

It's not that i don't like Korean food, in fact, I LOVE KOREAN BBQ, it's just that, i don't really have the opportunity to do so. My family usually just makes it at home if i ever have the craving for it...

In Hawaii, this is the few, if not only Korean restaurant that i saw during my stay.  i probably would have missed it had it not been for my friends who live here, and tend to eat here all the time.  It's truly a local spot, hard to find (since it's not located on the strip).

For about $8-$9 a plate, you get to choose 4 sides that vary between: long rice noodles, kimchi, potatoes, macaroni salad, stir-fry broccoli and carrots, and a variety of other choices...For a little extra, you can get a drink.

I ordered the #36 which was a fusion of Korean/Hawaiian food that included Korean BBQ and Katsu Chicken.  It was really good. And it's a lot of food for one person to finish, i know this because i tried, and sadly failed. I would recommend sharing a plate if your appetite and stomach isn't that huge, otherwise, attack it at your own risk.

I wish i was still in Hawaii. I wish they were open on Sunday. This place would have definitely been my choice for my last meal in "paradise" :(

I ate here two days in a row.  Not because the food was incredible, but because they gave me so much of it.  I picked up one of the special plates on the way home from the beach the other night and even after not eating anything all day (maybe a skittle or something at the most) I only ate half.  Come to think of it, I only ate half of the skittle too.  The next day I ate the other half for lunch.  Then I finished the BBQ for dinner.  You still following me?  Now, except for maybe a raisin before bedtime (alright, it might have been a BigMac), I also made it through the day with nothing but Me's BBQ.  There you have it!  One skittle, one Na's special, two all beef patties, about 15 bucks, and 48 hours.  Eat your heart out Rachel Ray.  15 divided by 2 is 7.50, leaves us 32.50.  But if we just go ahead and call it eighty dollars in two days minus 15 equals 65 bones left over.  Boy, howdy, We got enough left over now for a toothless hummer!  Sounds to me like a  weekend in paradise with a happy ending.  I should start a walking tour.
I also must say I loved the macaroni salad.  I don't know if it's a common thing to add coconut milk here, but this was my first encounter, and I'm a fan.

While staying in a nearby hotel I have had the pleasure of eating at Me's more than a few times.  The Kal bi ribs are great and come with 4 sides which range from pasta salad to kim chi, all great.  In the morning they serve a quick and good breakfast for cheap (under $5).  I will certainly go back whenever I am in Waikiki.

This is a great little place with huge portions! It's on Uluniu near Kuhio, so well within walking distance of the beach.

There are dozens of combinations available, everything from kal bi to bi bim pap to tempura. With entrees, you can choose up to four different sides, including a couple of different types of kim chee. And as befits a local kine place, macaroni salad is definitely an option.

It's a local-flavored place, not touristy at all. If you're not sure what an item is by its name, photos cover the walls, illustrating the various menu options.

The portions really are enough for two people, so don't be afraid of the $8 - $10 price per meal. It's worth it, not only for the amount but for the quality of the food. Everything is fresh and delicious.

If the large amount of food scares you, they do offer mini-plates, which are smaller versions with a smaller price tag. There's also a children's menu and breakfast meals.

They are closed on Sundays, but open 7 - 9 the rest of the week.
