The decor of this place is somewhat on the frightening side. Don't come here expecting "nice" because you'll probably turn around as soon as you open the door. Fortunately, they somehow manage to churn out some really amazing food. I tend to stay on the seafood side of things here and love the crabs, mussels, and whatever specials sound appealing. A friend of mine jokes that while the dining/bar area is dingy, the kitchen is bustling with chefs and first rate ingredients. It's definitely a diamond in the rough for when you find yourself on the Jersey side of the river.
This is a fun townie bar with underrated food & excellent service. Highlights include crab legs, hot wings and the best bar fries around. As an appetizer I'd heartily recommend the blackened chicken fingers and buffalo shrimp, you'll be pleasantly surprised how "chef-ly" it's prepared (neither are breaded) and unlike most bar fare. Every night has a different theme; the Wednesday $8.95 Pasta Nights and Thursday Seafood Bonanza are can't-miss.
There are a number of TVs to watch whatever sporting event is on but the main draw is that it's everything your local bar should be: blue collar, no-frills aesthetics and clientele, awesome staff and plenty of room to hang and talk with your friends. No meatheads, bizzos or lame hipsters getting in your way here!
Great food for cheap prices! My mouth waters at the thought of their GIGANTIC bowl of mussels in red sauce. That plus Pabst blue ribbon on tap makes this the go to hometown bar whenever I get that craving!
