This place gets a bad rap because of their geeky owner and his commercials. But overall they've got some great designer brands, good prices, and knowledgable salespeople. If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg, but still want Hugo Boss check in on them.

Aaron was very helpful when he helped me out. He was patient and explained every well. I would rate his services 5 stars.

Unfortunately I have to rate the business overall as well and they came in under par. We didn't have any huge mishaps but there was one thing wrong with every tux we rented (a total of 4). They were all pretty minor mishaps. 2 of them were missing the pocket square, 1 got the wrong jacket (he got the that was $10 cheaper but you couldn't tell the difference), and the 3rd was totally wrinkled when he picked it up.

Mistakes are bound to be made when dealing with so many orders and I did like how I could go to any of their branches to get things fixed or exchanged. But the error rate seemed abnormally high (4 for 4). I would probably still go with them but I would recommend everyone to try on their rental and make sure everything is there.

Mat K's Find a Suit Extravaganza - Stop #5

----------------

I don't trust people who try to sell me suits who also wear ill fitting suits.

The hard sell is intimidating.  Maybe it is the aura of the financial district rubbing off on this place. Or the 7 shopkeep : 2 customer ratio that adds to the intimidation factor.  Or maybe the fact that I know nothing about suits and can't be a consumer advocate for myself...

The guy that helped me was hugely helpful.  Unfortunately the line between helpful and obnoxious is pretty thin and he kept crossing back and forth.

I decided to use the Men's Wearhouse to outfit my entourage. My plan was to purchase all of my groomsmen's tuxedos and Fed-Ex them to their homes. I bought a total of 10 tuxes. I thought that because I was buying such a large amount that I would be treated with a little respect, but boy was I wrong. Not only did I have the hardest time getting my entire order they decided to charge me twice.  Don't fret; I would not let them get away with that. I went straight to the source. I told them, "Get me on the phone with George Zimmerman". Of course I did not get to him, but I did speak to their Regional West Coast VP. They ended up giving me a $300 credit, 3 free rentals and a very long apology. These guys need to take a customer service class.

Like my mentor always said when I was growing up, "Only Squeaky Wheels get oiled".

AWFUL.
These monkeys F*cked me.

I went in to purchase a new tux, with shoes, suspenders, ...all the bells and whistles.  I paid for it with my Men's Dare_house card since they give you a $50 voucher with every $500 purchase when you use it.

Since I had recently moved to the city, I asked them to update my billing information.  After giving them my new address, I walked out the door to return a few days later once they had my tux fitted.

Upon returning, I hand them the receipt so they could hand me all my items they put aside.  But something was wrong.  They only had my jacket and pants, not any of the other items I purchased.  It took them a whole hour to set my order right.  I would have simply walked out had I not already paid for the accessories and the event I planned on attending was the next day.  But Finally, they got my order right.

However, we're not done here.  After a couple months pass, I receive a random call - a collector - which, I think is a joke, because I'm pretty good about paying my bills.   But, sadly, no joke, it's a soulless collector.  She said I did not pay my bill. I explained, I would have, had I received an invoice. But it was too late. Instead of MW calling me (they had my correct phone number on file) to inform me my account is past due, they sell my debt to a collector.  So despite me doing my best to rectify the situation, my credit has gotten its first ding.

So next time you go to Men's Whorehouse, leave nothing up to those commission earning monkeys, b/c once the sale is done, they're done too.  Pay cash, and walk out with your goods in hand.  Because typing an address on a computer is too damn hard.

...ohh and their selection sucks.

I don't think the guys here know how to take measurements. I came in to this San Francisco location for a fitting, to be picked up in San Diego for a wedding. When it came time to try it on, the tuxedo ordered was completely off. The jacket arms were way too short and the overall fit was too tight. The people at the San Diego location were apalled at how incorrect the measurements were. Thankfully, they were much more professional and were able to get another jacket overnighted in time for the wedding. It's a good thing I tried to pick it up a day early...otherwise, there wouldn't be enough time to get it sorted out.

It might just be that this Market St. location is really poor...I've had much better luck at their Colma store, and in San Diego.

Maybe I'm a bit of a suit snob, but this place is totally horrific. The employees had no idea what they were doing when trying to fit a suit. My boyfriend had to be fit for a tux for his friend's wedding in Phoenix, and, after measuring him, they tried to put him in a 42 jacket, when he really wears a 40. He was swimming in this thing! Luckily he knows what he's doing when it comes to suiting, so he asked them for the correct size.

Add one star for the tux program...they do make it as convenient as possible to pick up and return the thing.

The store was filthy, and it smelled funny. Yuck. Thankfully I'll only have to go back once more to return the damn tux.

You know, that dude in the commercial ruins it for this place. It's actually really hip and they tend to have great brand names there. H. Boss, C. Klein, Kenneth Cole, Polo, Versace and more.

A sales rep, who wasn't pushy, helped me out and wanted me to try things out that where my style but not my first choice. I tend to dress in solids but she actually was turning me onto pin stripes and shirt patterns that were really cool. Once she realized I was a science project, the GM came over and was really helpful too . He must have laid out like 12 patterns for me.

I decided on a combo and like a dumbski, I did not realize you had to normally wait at least  a day or two to get a suit tailored and I needed it that night;( Oh course, they hooked a pimp up and I looked great that night.

Hit it up:)

I'm a big fellow, so finding suits that fit well can be a real crapshoot.  That's one of the reasons I usually head to Men's Warehouse when I need a new one cheaply and quickly.  Sure they're not exactly high end, but their stuff is usually of fair quality so long as you're not a brand whore, and they can have it tailored and ready to go for you in short order if you're in a hurry.
Upon arriving the manager quickly noticed me and asked if I needed any assistance.  I let him know I was in the market for a new suit, and was then sent to the second floor with one of this associates.  Within 5 minutes I had been shown several suits that fit me well, and 10 minutes later I was measured and the suits were ready to be tailored.  Had this been where the story ended they would have recieved a better rating, but Men's Wearhouse uses the typical low end retail sales tactic, the upsell.

"Here, I want you to try on these sports jackets, I think they'd look great on you as well"
"No thanks, I just need the suit"
"How about some new shirts for the suit"
No thanks"
"Of course you'll be needing some new shoes right"
"No, I really won't"
"Yes, but just feel the quality of this shoe."
"That's, super, now I'd like to pay and get out of here."
"You good on socks?"
"Damnit, I just want to check out!"

Now, I used to work retail before so I know how much money there is to be made in this approach, but frankly it comes off as highly unprofessional and annoying as hell.  I suppose it's to be expected in a large national chain such as this, but they could be so much better if they just got a little class.

Rented a tux package here and it was a total disaster. Stained shirt, pants too short, tie frayed, shoes scuffed. When I pointed this out to the manager, I was rebuffed an treated contemptuously. I will never go back to MW.

Ironically, years ago when I had to wear suits and ties to work  I remember having great customer service experience with them....in fact that's why I went back to rent a tux, though that's clearly not their specialty.

Bottom line: stay away from Men's Wearhouse and rent your tux rental from a specialist.

I needed a cheap suit, but presentable.  Ok Sy... you said $200 on your TV ads so lets check it out.

Yup... got sized and selected off the "I'm not gonna spend a lot of money rack" and for a couple hundred smackers I got a very presentable suit for my uniform as a limo driver. The suit lasted longer than the job, I couldn't stand the clients, the lack of sleep and the general sleaziness of the business.  Sorry, I'm just a driver but I did get a pretty decent cheap suit out of the deal.

Also got a great dress raincoat/overcoat from their website.

I wanted to buy some tails about a year ago since  had decided to sart cruising (the ship kind, not the bushes, at which I'm an old pro). Friends suggested Men's wearhouse. I was surprised to find ou that I could purchase all kinds of tuxedos, which looked like dull, black suits. I already had a quite nice Italian suit, so I wanted tails! Guess what! Whereas I could RENT tails there, they refused to let me buy them! I just did not get it.

So I went to my local tailor and tux place and bought some nice tails at a reasonable price all custom tailored!

I came in with my man... He was in a Kenneth Cole suit; I was in jeans and a hoodie.  Chick in at the counter gave me the most demeaning look, said hi to my man and completely ignored me.  Then came the salesmen flocking with their smooth sales pitch and pointing fingers: "Have you seen this?"  "Have you seen that?"  Try friggin asking the man what he wants first.  Not once, but TWICE, the guy runs into me while eagerly showing him shirt & tie sets.  It's a hoodie, not an invisibility cloak.  I'm not exaggerating: I'm talking full head-on collisions without apology or even a break in a sales-stride.

Not surprisingly, the next time I walked in in my suit, guess who suddenly became visible.

Classist bastards.

Seeing as I had to get fitted for a tuxedo for a wedding taking place in Los Angeles. My friend picked this place only because, as it turns out, they offer pick-up at a different MWH store which I was happy about. I was not about to stuff a full tuxedo into my carry-on luggage even with the flight being 90 minutes.

First off, I must admit that I was sort of hesitant as I had a preconceived idea that all salespeople at MWH are idiots who give a crap about their jobs. However, I was blown away by their service and attentiveness. Kudos to a great staff in this particular location. The fitter even complimented me on my t-shirt. Not that I was wearing anything special as I was looking a bit "street" when I walked in.

You will be surprised as I was that they have a second story. I had to take the elevator to get up there as I didn't see a stairwell. Got in and out of the place within 15 minutes and happily went about the rest of my day happy to have gotten that task out of the way.

I've stepped in an MWH on two ...count 'em TWO occasions.

Occasion the First: A colleague was invited to a fancy schmancy awards dinner in LA. "I'm supposed to get a tux. Come with me to the Men's Wearhouse." I attempted to gently persuade him that he'd be better off hunting around at "St. Vinnies of Paul" or La Rossa on Haight for some vintage threads. He was undeterred. "I need something quick..and besides I like the owner..the I Guarantee It Guy." I pushed for Nordstrom or Neiman...even Macy's. "No dude, I need to get this quick!" Reluctantly I went, "Fine it's your career funeral." To my surprise he was waited on hand and foot, purchasing something um..tasteful. I almost chopped his hand off when he started to reach for shiny shoes. "You're not in High School Band. Do not go with shiny." His smile said "Oh Yes." I angled for the economic argument, "You've gotta have a pair of black dress shoes at home??" He went for it.

Occasion 2: Followed drunk colleagues into MWH who went around asking more then patient sales assistants what their actual guarantee policy was? "Could they get 'I guarantee it' in writing?" "Could they meet the I guarantee it guy."

3 Sir Charles Barkley's. If you have to have a tux in ten minutes this is the place to go. Super patient sales peeps.

Went in here the other day to get a suit for a interview and the service was impeccable. They waited on me hand and foot. Bought out many suit choices and shirts and ties. This was a very different experience then a had a week earlier at a store right down the street. (Macy's Men's Store) 0 stars. After I chose a suit the tailoring took only a couple of days compared to Macy's time of two weeks. They also have a rewards program for every $500 spent you get a $50 dollars gift card.
Nice!!!

I'm getting married on Saturday.

The tux was supposed to be ready for final fitting today, Wednesday. But, it wasn't there.

Men's Wearhouse messed up. Big time.

Their "solution", due to the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, was to fedex the tux to my hotel the morning of the wedding.

Pause and think about that.

The same company that didn't deliver the tux to the store, with weeks of notice, is to be trusted to fedex the tux, in the correct size and accessories, to the local store, which would then fedex it to my hotel the morning of the ceremony.

Yeah, right.

I will never ever go to them again. I would encourage you all to try somewhere else.
